After telling them the high cost of what the other shops and Subaru dealerships wanted to charge me, they were able to find me an affordable solution. Cascade Motors labor cost and parts were very reasonable and the cost weren't jacked up like the other places. I would recommend this place for service. They also have a large inventory of Pre-Owned Subarus with reasonable prices. Check out their website.

My kid had just had his 09 WRX totaled by a semi truck. He found a Cascade Motors listing for a 97 Legacy GT (a 1 owner, w/ only 59k miles)... that seemed clean. We spoke on and off w/ LUKE (and once w/ CHRIS) for 10 days thinking of either coming in person from Michigan to pick it up, or having the car shipped. LUKE boasted about a clean title, and techs at their place who only work on Subarus. He also sent videos of the shop, w/ all the inventory to impress us. Told us they'd sell the car for $9k (asking $9995). I called around a few Subaru specialized mechanic shops in the Portland area. one told me Cascade Motors sells cars that are "hit or miss", but they were booked done couldn't do inspection there. I found another 3rd party shop to look at the car. they did an amazing job ($162). The inspection came back w/ a laundry list of issues on the Legacy GT. I was shocked... little items like wiper blades and brake light bulbs, which why would anyone selling cars not repair these simple items? the inspection did reveal worse: tie rods; ball joints; struts; power steering pump leak; valve gasket leaks; transmission leaks; ac belt cracked and needing immediate replacement. LUKE acted like these were no big deal, but admitted any mechanic would charge about $5k for all the work needed on the Legacy. LUKE said Cascade would do all repairs because the labor being on them would only be $1500 in parts... if we still wanted the car. LUKE said no more $9k deal though, we'd have to pay full asking if they fixed the car (no way in hell I'd trust them to fix it). I asked for them to cover the 3rd party inspection charge since we couldn't buy the car, and the inspection was of more benefit to them as they now had a comprehensive professional diagnosis for the car... something they failed to do prior to selling it for top dollar to unsuspecting shoppers. LUKE told me management said they'd not cover the inspection for us, as it was a part of the "auto shopping experience", and he wished us luck on our car search. thinks when I decided to file a complaint with the Oregon DOJ, and worried they'd not fix the Legacy GT at all, and just turn and sell it to the next poor shopper. I sent them a screenshot of my DOJ complaint reference number, and management (EVE) immediately called me back. when I caught up with her the next business day she tried to normalize the experience. she hadn't even looked at the inspection report. EVE made excuses for their own mechanics missing so many issues on the car, prior to them selling it. I think she told me their mechanic was out of town, and the car was listed w/o being run through by anyone. then she told me LUKE wasn't authorized to make deals (offering us $9k sale price). I demanded Cascade pay the inspection $162, and blasted her for the shady, unprofessional, and waste of our time experience. They actually did pay for the inspection, I made sure to double check w/ the amazing repair shop that saved us from these horrible people. EVE also put YELP reviews on blast, said YELP hides good reviews and only shows bad ones. just a horrible experience, but at least I have another good story to tell around the campfire.

I don't often enough, take the time to write positive reviews unless I've been completely blown away... this is one of those times where I've been completely blown away. I spent a great deal of time researching my used car purchase. I was prepared to drive as far as 3 hours away to get the right car at the right price. Like many people, I loathe the car buying process mostly due to the song and dance you usually have to deal with at the dealership. Even the places who advertise "no haggle buying" still make you run the gauntlet of sales pitches for car add-ons like undercoating, car security systems, higher lending rates they tell you qualify for, low-balling your trade-in, ect. After spotting a perfect car at a really competitive price on line at this place, I stopped in to see it. To "prepare for battle" at the dealership, I got approved for an auto loan at my Credit Union, and was firmly prepared to tell them I was going to sell my old car on Craigslist. Sami (the owner) greeted me and immediately took a mellow, no pressure approach. He asked me a couple of questions about why this car, and then gave me the keys to go on a test drive. The car was everything I was looking for, and at a price below what I was willing to spend; no haggling. Sami treated the entire process like a business transaction, not a sales transaction. He is an excellent sales person, but not in a pushy "used car salesman" way. He simply walks you through the process, trying to make sure you've considered all aspects of buying the new car and selling the old car. He then offered me a price for my trade-in that was within what I was going to ask for in on Craigslist... no, hassles with getting it detailed, fixing the curb scratches on the wheels :/, no dealing with Craigslist shoppers. I could not be more pleased with this entire process. Even after the sale, when I needed an extra key ordered and some other little things, Sami & his staff were very willing to help... I know it seems suspicious to see every review for this place at 5 stars, but just go there and see why they deserve all the praise they get. I will be a customer there forever.

I spoke with Sami, and informed him that I will be there the next day at 11 am. By the time I got there, the lot was locked and I can't find a single person. I called him immediately, and he said that he can't come due to some kind of zoom meeting. So I guess he's not interested in showing me or selling his cars. If you cannot even be there due to an emergency, I think it's fair to say that you should inform your customer or let them know in advance. Essentially he wasted our time to drive all the way out there for nothing. Not to mentioning all his cars are way over priced...

Except the first time I met her in a PNW downpour the windshield wiper flapped uselessly like a limp handshake. Replacing the wipers was contractual. Basic safety. A correction to meet the State's prim-and-proper dress code. Still met with a laissez-faire attitude. When I picked her up, her glasses were still broken. I took the fix into my own hands--parts shop on the way home, a couple of tenners, a little elbow grease, done. Next up, the key fob. The emergency key was missing, the kind of detail that only matters when it matters. I brought it up, like an old lover who still believes a wrong turn should end with a nightcap and an apology. Instead, it turned from good cop to bad cop faster than a red carpet turns into a doormat. Then Murphy made a house call. The battery went low. She wouldn't let me in, like a partner who caught me gambling with the rent money. I used my one free call to get a locksmith to bail me out. Time and money burned on something promised on the first date. Next the check engine light blinked into life like it couldn't wait to hand me a bill and a lecture. Still loyal, I went back to them instead of the brand shop off the two one seven. One tip slipped across the bar after another. Reassurance she was safe to take out on the town without having to constantly look over my shoulder. It was just a false trail that kept circling back to the same code I heard on the scanner from day one. I was being led on a wild goose chase and suspected I was the stuffing. After months of silence and no new leads I picked up the phone to reopen the case, like a jilted ex dialing a number I know I shouldn't. The witnesses had "left." The records were "tied up." I was told the specifics about the prior investigation were withheld for "legal reasons." It read like the old standards had left the building, and she'd taken her charm with her. Trusting my first instinct, I took the old girl to the brand shop, the place that spoke her native tongue. They handed me the facts. No passing the buck. No song and dance. Workmanship you could hang your hat on. I'd finally gotten the full meal deal, but I'd lost my wallet in the process. I figured I'd give Freeman one last chance to make things right. I'd played this scene before, back when deals were clean and handshakes meant something. Back then, I had a number in my head and they hit it like a sharpshooter. This time it was a slow middle school dance on a wet gym floor, and every step felt wrong. The numbers didn't add up, even the Kelly Blue Boys gave me the kind of look you save for a three-card monte table. Sure, I could take a bruising, but I hadn't signed up to get rolled. The relationship ended with a love letter that read like a case file, our entire history laid out in black and white, followed by a reply that never came. Freeman was a name I'd trusted since I was a rookie twenty years back, the door I knocked on when I wanted a fair and honest deal, the place I sent friends, family, and associates. Somewhere along the way, it seemed they traded the Freeman name for the Saul Goodman Sunday Special. In this town, some places sell you a promise the way a magician sells you a trick. You watch the shine. You miss the move. I gave them every chance to play it straight, but instead I got a different story each time, ended up with the bills, and found myself alone in the rain without an umbrella. Ragged, like a mark who realized the gig too late, I closed the file, because sometimes that's the only win you get. Take a walk. Don't look back. The rain will wash the footprints away.

They were given 1-week to get me the final amount owed which would have fallen on 7/17. She called on 7/13 and stated that she didn't know that the dealership had to pay back a portion of the extended warranty refund but would get a check out to me right away. She waited 4 days to mail it and then mailed it to the wrong address even after I gave both herself and one of her staff the correct address. Alexis then emailed letting me know the check had been returned and at the advice of my attorney, since the requested receive-by date has passed, was advised to request that she overnight the check to me. It has been received now and they no longer own me anything. Check your extended warranty folks if you bought a car from them and a warranty, if you got rid of the car early, you may be owed money. UPDATED 7/10/2023: Heard back from the extended warranty company and Gold Star kept over $1000 of my extended warranty refund which is a Class C felony in the state of Oregon. I have contacted the police and an attorney! DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE CROOKS!!!! If I could give them negative stars, I would. I got scammed into buying a car with a bad head gasket, slipping tranny and a multitude of other issues. If you get into the car and it has tons of little air freshener swatches in it, AVOID! I imagine they were trying to cover up the smell of oil....the car was dirty, hadn't been detailed, had ZERO gas in it and the battery was bad. After owning it less than 72 hours it left me stranded in the Jimmy John's parking lot where I ironically was meeting Alexis to finish signing my extended warranty paperwork. When I asked her for some assistance, she basically said there wasn't anything she could do, shrugged and left me there to deal with an inoperative car. Also, DO NOT make the same mistake I did and trust them to be transparent about your loan. I had been approved at other dealerships for similar amounts at less than 10% interest so I stupidly trusted them to have similar terms. Boy was I wrong!! It's my own fault for not checking before signing but they count on people not asking. My interest rate is almost 30%!!! Thievery!!! That on top of the $200 I had to fork out for a new battery and $500 to have it detailed, the thousands it would cost to have it fixed because they use a low end extended warranty company....I got out of the car as fast as I could. AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!! Updating again as I just received my refund back from the crappy extended warranty company this dealership uses and it was $1000 less than was I was told I would get back after owning the piece of shit they sold me for ONLY 3 MONTHS!!!!! Nearly a $1500 penalty for paying off a warranty early and only having coverage for 3 months? I call BULL SHIT!! I will be filing complaints against this dealership with the BBB and telling everyone I know DO NOT BUY HERE!!!!! I know I hold some responsibility for rushing through the buying process and not asking the right questions but this place is a den of SNAKES and will rob you blind if they can get away with it! DO NOT BUY HERE! All of their so-called 4 and 5 star reviews are from the same people over and over! Fake reviews!!

I tried to to get them to do the right thing and take the car back and give me my money back but they wouldn't. Johnny who worked there was the only half decent person, so I thought. then the poor guy ended up taking his life - which was so awful To hear. It's almost a year later and now I'm looking at another $1800 in repairs if not more. It is so discouraging to know there are people out there like Alexis and Terry at Gold Star Auto. People who are so deceitful. Truly how do they sleep at night? I almost feel sorry for them, what a horrible life they must lead, to be able to treat others with such disrespect& dishonest.
