I started a car search here first, David kept telling me he would call me back and just never did. Why lie? During quarantine apparently the loaner wasn't able to "locate my job", however, I am still working and David never did the work to find that out. The jokes on you, I now have $25,000 cash that I've saved and don't need a loan any longer and I'm taking my buying process elsewhere. But seriously, how incredibly rude is it for a business to tell you they'll help you and call back and just have people waiting around. Just be upfront and say you don't want to help. After having our Saturn for more than a few years (we purchased it new in 1993), it was time to seriously look for a new car. I had noticed last year when I was between jobs that this time of the year was a really good time to purchase a Subaru, especially a Forester. While scanning the USAA list of used cars, I came across two Foresters that were definitely worth perusing, but only one was local. I saw the car listed, used the e-mail form stating I was interested and within 30 minutes, David called me. I asked if we could test drive on Sunday, January 29th. I was nervous, it had been a long time since we'd purchased a car, but the D'Angelo family made it easy. It took 90 for both my husband and I to test drive, do all the paperwork (I already had the loan) and we were out of there, with our car. We purchased a Subaru 2015 Forester previously owned by a corporation that had maintained it. I cannot praise the D'Angelo family for making this process smooth and pain free! I don't buy cars often. I like to buy good quality cars and squeeze every dollar out of them. Part of that is because I'm trying to be wise with my finances but part of that honestly is that I've always hated the "car buying experience". With a child heading off to college, it was time to get a smaller car. We wanted to move from away from the mini-van (praise the Lord!) and towards an SUV. After doing my homework, I found the right model for us and began shopping. I came across David's car on the internet. It was priced either at or (most often) below other dealers and private parties pricing. (I must have thoroughly shopped over 100 vehicles before making a call on my top 5 list). Somewhat dreading heading in to the process not knowing much about D'Angelo and fully expecting "the sell" to begin immediately, I was really glad when I hung up from making the appointment to feel like this was just a simple business inquiry type, cordial and respectful phone call. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and figured it would be when I got on site, or the test drive. Never happened. There were no stereotypical sleezy used car tactics to speak of. No pressure. None. Just two guys talking about the car matter of factly. That's all well and VERY good, but when it all boils down, what really matters is the car. While I'm not a fan of the hard sell, I can deal with it for the right machine. It's just hoops, but glad not to have to jump through them. Here's what separated the wheat from the chaff- This particular car had 86k miles on it. His Mechanic did the full 90k mile maintenance. Water pump, belts, everything. About 2k in tune up and replacements. I had this verified by my own personal mechanic. This is unheard of in the used car industry (I know because I was raised in it). All my guy could find was that a high beam was out (I just put in 6 bucks for a bulb tonight, done). I fully expected that on top of the final negotiated price, I'd plan to drop at least 1500 to get the car to a place of confidence. Not the case. This was presented road ready. We came to an agreeable price-point and 45 minutes later we were driving it home. Way to flip the used car buying experience upside-down David!
