DON'T TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!! VERY Poor customer service; Poor Communications; ran my battery down then replaced it with a low battery; knocked off repaired rusted areas around the wheel well on both sides of the truck; replaced the spark plugs but were not tighten and I smelled weed on one of them. I went to the shop because my truck would start then stop, Supervisor Giovanni, who was always pleasant and personable, said yes, so I towed there. Noon the next day I hadn't received an update; I drove by to see someone sitting on the tailgate. Later returned for an update to get that there was no update - they were busy but would call me. 5:55pm, I called for an update to be told "we're sure it's the spark plugs, that will fix it." The next morning, I called and was told we ordered "a cap" and that might fix it because it won't start. What cap!? No one called me about "a cap, for what!" Giovanni couldn't explain it and the mechanic was out. So, I went to the shop to find that it didn't start because they had the key turned on all night and they were attempting to charge the battery. I saw my wheel well material on the ground, how and why they were down there I don't know, the door and hood open as they attempted to recharge my battery draining the battery. I asked to speak with the mechanic was clear and well versed in his explanation of his assessment. I waited a few hours, met and shared my experience with the manager who was not on site yesterday. He was apologetic and said that they typically only work brakes and tires but would get me taken care of today. I asked why his supervisor wasn't aware of that policy before he confidently told me to tow it to the shop? I left, as I got on 316, the manager had the supervisor call me to say that they couldn't repair my truck. Now why didn't the manager have the supervisor tell me that when I was there 6 minutes ago? So, I had to pay over $400 for spark plugs and 2 tows to have it back home. What a mess! Initially I was not going to write a review but here it is! This is too much. This location is understaffed and it shows, the guy that handled me was nice but only 2 days new and sold me a regular tire even when I told him that I have a Tesla and then all Tesla tires have this foam in it. He really didn't know what he was doing, as a woman I need more details than what he was giving me. Nobody ever checked to see if my tire levels of air was correct. The manager was nice, but all in all now I have one tire this different from the other three. When I went back, the manager was only offering to take the tire back and so I paid the difference, which is not a deal considering the situation. There is another location less than a mile away. I would probably try them next, or go to discount tire. read more

DO NOT COME TO THIS SHOP. I came to this shop around 5:15pm because of my tire. My tire was flat when I was on my way home. It was a 30-minute drive, how was I supposed to go home with a flat tire? So we came here, there were 2 men and 1 woman there. I came and asked the woman about my tire, she pointed me to the free air, even through I DID tell her that my tire was flat. So I came back and asked another man to help. The woman came and told us something like: "Did we know that they would close the shop in 45 mins?" It was an emergency so we really needed help and she was really rude about that. Then the man immediately came and looked at our tire to check it. He literally asked for our key and said that he would help us when he was done with his work. We felt really bad about what she did, what she said. So we left the shop. THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. WILL NEVER COME TO THIS SHOP AGAIN. read more

As a woman, it can be intimidating to go into a service center needing major work for your vehicle. I can honestly say I'd never left a service center feeling like a got a great deal like I did when I left the Pleasant Hill Mavis. I was treated with respect, given a more than fair deal. The staff was courteous. My vehicle was repaired before the estimated time. I will shout to the rooftops how wonderful the service is at Mavis Pleasant Hill. I would give Mavis a ZERO rating if I could!!! I had 4 new tires and an alignment done on 6/24/23, but I noticed when I got on the highway the alignment had not been completed properly. I called and spoke to a man that told me to bring it back and they would look at it I said great I will be there at 5pm that same day. I get there at 5pm and he then tells me that his guys that do the alignment have left for the day. I said fine what day works he said come back tomorrow I will have two guys here that can take a look. He said I'll put you down so they know you will be here around 5pm. I came back the next day and stood at the counter for 10 minutes and no one came to the register. I waived down a man I saw in the garage and he continued to work not acknowledging me. I decided to walk out and go to the garage and there were 4 men back there so I asked if someone could help since I had been standing at the front for 10 minutes. The manager (John) said we are closed and that they were busy wrapping up other vehicles. I replied with you are not closed until 6 per the sign and I have already paid for my service and it was not fixed properly. I was informed to come back today and he went on to say how that guy that told me to come doesn't work there anymore. We went back and forth and he then told me to shut up. I walked out the store and immediately called the corporate office. I was told by the rep that John's regional manager by the the name of Hunter Gooch would be in contact within 24-48 hours. That never happened so I called back on 7/10 and the rep read some notes that the manager called me on 7/5 and informed me to bring back the vehicle. I explained to the rep Trevor that was a lie no one has called me he then put me on hold and called Hunter who explained to him that he was driving and would call me shortly. It never happened. It is now over 2 weeks and my alignment still has not been fixed. I was a return customer, but I will never go back and I will tell everyone I know about the poor service I received. read more

I didn't have a problem with my service but I Froze for 3 hours because the heat never came on the whole time I was there. It's was so cold in the place that I had to get a blanket out of my car! Its alright to be cheap but to freeze you customers is Ridiculous!!.it was 34 outside so he said the heater was on 68 degrees but it never came on. I recommend not coming here in the winter. Wow, I was really impressed with how great the entire staff were at this location. Torrian helped us get the tire we needed as quickly as possible. We had staff and clients in our company car broken down on the side of the road and I brought the tire in and they replaced and we were back on the road in no time at all with a great price we could afford since we are a not for profit company. My tire pressure light was on . So I went to the store to pump air. I bought the tires from the store. I found they didn't check my car then just started pumping. My car requires 30 psi. I saw the miter shows 35 psi. So I told them it supposed 30 psi. Hopefully they can work more carefully. read more

So far so good. I brought my car in for ceramic brake pads to another Kauffman location about a month and a half ago, but to my surprise they said I only needed rotors, not pads. But then my brakes started squeaking even worse than before, so I decided to bring it back. My friend recommended this Kauffman location instead, so I brought it by here. It was going to take 2-3 hours, but the pads they ordered had a manufacturer mistake (one of the directions were wrong). So it's been 4 hours so far. I've always enjoyed Kauffman's and I think they do a great job while actually caring about the customer. I'd like to leave this at 3 stars right now until I see how they work out. read more

I've been loyal to this place to a fault. I started going here when I moved to Duluth in 2019 because it was very close & my brother took his car there for minor things. I moved almost 45 mins away & STILL came to this location because I felt they knew my car (& me) but I was wrong. Very wrong! I noticed the turnover rate was high. Damn near no one that was working there when I started going still works there. When I asked about them I'm told "He just left." SMH. There have been a couple of other issues but the straw that broke the camels back was when 5 visits & almost $700 later my power steering is still not fixed. I should had known better when I was waiting for mine to be fixed & a young lady showed up & complained that her power steering was still giving her problems after having it serviced there. They just topped her off on fluid & sent her on her way. They would essentially do the same for me for the next few visits even after I had paid for a flush, came back & paid for a new hose & sworn to that it was fixed only to come BACK & be told it's the rack & pinion that needs to be fixed & to get my oil change that I paid for but they failed to do on the last visit. Andrew's excuse for the continued failure to fix the problem: Well, we started with the cheapest fixes & went from there (& casually walked off to go eat his lunch!) How about you start with the problem & fix that! Experiment with your own money & time! Andrew tried to send me to another location because they didn't have the ability to fix the problem. No, sir! You via Mavis have robbed me of enough money! My brother stopped going there too after Andrew forgot the original quote he gave him & tried to charge him an extra $125! He tried to blame it on taxes. $100+ taxes for a $250 job?! This place needs to be investigated! read more

I hate cars with a passion. When I blow out my birthday candles I always wish my life would be transported to a big metropolis with functional public transportation and fun stuff within walking distance. To give up my car? Glorious. Alas, I live in the frickin suburbs and have to work and all that crap. This requires a vehicle...and me - being the non-researcher when it comes to big, expensive purchases - bought the crappiest POS American car in the world...a Jeep Grand Cherokee. All I can say is I was probably stoned or something, because it was a worse decision than marrying that guy for the green card. Anywayyyy...Kauffman is right down the street from me, so I pretty much go there for everything. Tires, oil changes, brakes, tuna sammiches, dead batteries, you name it. They know me there as The Cupcake Lady, but I think the whole world knows me as that these days. Glenn always takes good care of me, I think. He has even checked out my POS without charging me and told me honestly when he couldn't fix something recently. I appreciate that kind of stuff. My latest experience with them was after 4 dates in a row pointed out how my formerly bald tires had wires (are they called wires? Shit, I don't know about this stuff!) showing. Each one begged me to get new tires ASAP, but I don't like to be proactive. I'd much rather push til the absolute last minute and cheat death. It's way funner. I finally gave in and went to get some new shoes for Jeep and not only did I get a great deal on the tires, but they also threw in some GREAT NEWS for FREE - FREE! Without charging me for it they told me that I needed $800 worth of repairs or my poor POS Jeep might just crumble to the ground. Wow, that was nice of them!! I am, by no means, a car expert. Heck, you probably know more about my Honda Accord SE than I do! But when I almost hit someone about 4 months ago and had to slam-literally SLAM-on my breaks to avoid them, I knew that the squeaking that came from my breaks over the following weeks was not normal. I waited a week and the squeak became a screech. A week later it was a shrill. It got worse and worse. After a ton of deliberation, I decided to bring my car to KT. I called the day before I brought my car in to schedule an appointment. The next morning when I walked through the front door, everyone-and I mean everyone-greeted me. I know NOTHING about cars, but I didn't feel like I was going to be taken advantage of or that they didn't care for my car. My brakes ended up only needing to be lubricated and they charged me $25.00 for it. Before I left, the mechanic that had been helping me informed me that if at any time the brakes started to screech again that I could bring my Accord back and they would put the $25.00 towards repairs. The overall visit took two hours and the mechanic had popped out every once in a while to give me updates. I give KT five stars because I was really worried that not knowing very much about my car would make me seem stupid, careless and make me an easy target to get over on. None of that happened. I'm glad that I didn't just go off of the reviews here and that I gave them a try. My experience was MUCH better than I was anticipating. read more

I usually go to a different Kauffman tires to get my oil changed but since I've been overdue for one and I got off work a little early, I stopped by this location on my way home last night. I got here at 5:45pm and they were dead. The two employees working were just watching tv when I walked in. I felt bad walking in 15 minutes before they closed but I had to get my oil changed. Having two little kids, it's hard to drag them out to run my errands so I had to take this opportunity to get this task done. The employee that rang me up mentioned to me that my car required a canister for the oil change and that there would be an extra charge. I asked him if my car always required this canister since its never been mentioned to me before the past numerous times that I've had my oil changed. He said yes and that I've just never been charged for it. I honestly feel like he added on this "extra" charge because I made him stay later at work. When he rang me up, he said that he took off $5 of the "labor" fee to give me a little break. I compared my print out to past print outs when I got home and realized that he didn't take off anything. 1st I called, Adam the manger answered and was super friendly, upbeat and very responsive to my needs. I needed brakes for 2006 Toyota Camry . He asked me to come in so I could find out about what he could do to help me out. When I got there , Adam was straight forward with me and told me that I needed calipers, brakes, and rotors. Unfortunately, I wasn't in a position to purchase all these products. Adam educated me and showed me the severity of how bad my brakes were. He suggested that I apply for their financing program. After careful consideration I went ahead and applied for finance and was approved. Im extremely exited that the car with be taken care of and be safe for travel. Went in for vibration in front end that a tire alignment hadn't corrected a week previously at another store. Hugo was helpful in isolating the problem and recommended a tire balancing. I also had small leak at rear passenger side tire, which Denard determined to be a spindle seal going bad. Took a bit of time, but the repair was completed in one day, and came in slightly under what I was originally quoted. I observed the end of the work being performed while waiting and it was obvious Denard, Hugo and others were well trained, knowledgeable, and professional in their work. Went here as a last resort had never really heard of the place before but I had needed a tire really bad actually had to have my vehicle towed there and I needed somewhere that was pretty close and they were really close like 5 miles from where my tire went out so I gave them a call and was told they had a sale going on, so I got a really good price on my tire they quoted me 79.99 for an SUV Tire new I thought that was good so I reserved it but I wasn't able to come in that same day I had my vehicle towed there the next day I called ahead it took a while for them to answer the phone I called around 8:55 they open at 8:30 eventually someone did answer the phone and I mentioned to them that I was given a quote the day before and I had a quote number she said she didn't need the number and to just come in so I came in. There was nobody visibly present for about 10 minutes and then someone who was actually putting on tires appeared so the service in my opinion was somewhat slow then they quoted me a hour wait time which was a little weird to me because I didn't think it would take an hour just to put on one tire but nevertheless I didn't have very many options because my tire was flat and no spare they finally got done it took about an hour in 15 minutes we left and came back in about a little under an hour and they were just now starting but it only took them about 15 minutes to do the actual work. I still had to go to work so I was in a little bit of a then their machine wouldn't work, I was using my card so they had to reset their machine in order for them to take my payment that was a little annoying. Also they will try I must say they will try to sale you something else he asked me about three other things I declined them all including windshield wipers but I guess that's kind of their job they're in the business of making money but overall it was just an OK experience. I think the customer service could be a tad bit better and wait time could improve some but the price eventually was ok they added an additional $20 I ended up paying 98 of course they charged for mounting and balancing and a charge for tire disposal so my $79 quote turn into almost $100 but I guess that's to be expected. read more

Slow service. Gave them the car for brake work at noon , they said 40 to 50 mins to get it done so waited there. They did not finish it until 3 pm so waited 3 hours for the service. This is not a good experience as this was my first time getting any work done with this company. Not sure if I will go there for any future work as I do not think they value time. read more
