Came in today to buy 4 tires. Paid for them and was only handed 3 tires. The system said they had four, but they couldn't find the last one. I asked for a refund, they told me I had to wait for it to be authorized even though I paid cash. This all happened within 10 mins. After waiting another 15 minutes, I finally received my refund. Dear Mavis Management, I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at your location recently. This was my first visit back since the location had been shut down previously, and unfortunately, my experience was not positive. On January 25, 2025, I visited your store needing an oil change and informed the service advisor, Gary, that one of my rear tires had a slow leak. After approximately 30 minutes, I was told that the service was complete. When I inquired about my tire, Gary initially stated there was nothing wrong with it. However, upon further insistence from my side, he checked again but maintained there was no issue, suggesting I should purchase two new rear tires instead. I reminded him of the warranty on my tires, expecting some assistance, but was quoted $420 for the replacement under warranty. This seemed excessive, and when I protested, the price was suddenly reduced to $220. Feeling pressured and unsatisfied with the handling of the situation, I decided to leave without resolving the tire issue. This experience left me feeling disrespected and led me to believe that the initial diagnosis might have been an attempt to push unnecessary sales. I felt scammed and manipulated, especially with the significant price reduction once I questioned the cost. I am very disappointed with this service encounter and am hesitant to return to this Mavis location. Now my tire has a faster leak. read more

I want to start this out by saying I've been coming here for years. I've always trusted both Eddie & Reuben the managers of this location. They are good and honest people. However, if you come here avoid Daniel L. at all cost. I came here a week ago because I got my rotors & brakes done here 8 months ago & the rotor had warped & was still under warranty. The rotors & brakes were replaced, but I left with a new issue -- if I was driving over 45 mph, my car started to shake. They said it was due to a bent rim. Recommended me to go elsewhere to have the rim repaired. So I did. I had 3 rims fixed & got 2 new tires at the place they recommended I go to. The problem still didn't go away. Went back to mavis 4 times within 2 days -- they did a wheel alignment & replaced the brakes & rotors again. Said it was still a rim problem. And ultimately on my last visit, Daniel L. had an extremely inappropriate & somewhat scary outburst because he had to stay 15 mins later to re-examine my car where he could find nothing wrong. Which apparently is a good reason to say he never wants to see my f***ing car again, to go f*** myself, how I was getting all this work done for free (which is true because it was under warranty for both parts & labor) among other things. Throughout my entire interactions with the mavis staff up to this point, I was very understanding & patient. I understand human error and faulty parts can happen. There was no reason to behave this way towards me or quite frankly any customer. After a visit to the RVC mavis and then finally to another mechanic, turns out Daniel L. screwed in the rotors crooked. So not only did I get to waste over a week of my time where I didn't feel safe driving my car, missed hours of work while in repair shops, & be on the other end of an outburst, turns out if a competent technician worked on my car, I wouldn't have had these issues. To say I'm angry is an understatement. This experience has made me sad because I really trust the management here & now I feel like I can't trust my car here while technicians like Daniel L work here. I'm not saying to avoid this place entirely, but if you do come here, request that Daniel L isn't your technician. He obviously is a bit unhinged & is careless with his work. read more

I knew it was a bad sign when I pulled up and the employee/manager was blocking the entrance door to talk to a customer and wouldn't move over until I asked. Had an appointment (doesn't matter, lol) to get an oil change. Asked how long it would take? Guy said hour and a half. I said okay. Then he says well more like 3 1/2 to 4 total. To preface, I've been going to Mavis (in general, not this particular location) for years and I'm usually not one to write reviews. However, this particular experience with an employee at this Mavis yesterday was absolutely abysmal to the point where I was forced to; I've never experienced such terrible customer service in my life. :( Called ahead at 8:15am to confirm the wait time/availability which was around an hour. I made an appointment the day before online for a tire change and wheel alignment so I knew what to expect. I show up and the employee (Bradley) was extremely dismissive and rude from the get-go. He asks me if I received an email, I say I have the appointment confirmation info and a screenshot for proof. He asks for my phone number, name, and email, then says he can't find my anything in the system despite me going to Mavis for years with multiple cars. If anything, I'd been to a Mavis just two months before for an inspection. He asks my nationality, turns out we're both Haitian and he automatically assumes I don't speak creole (Haitian language) (not sure why he even brought up something so irrelevant just to continue to rag on me?) He goes outside to confirm my car's tire size, comes back in, goes on the computer and just says "you gotta go to the dealership". I ask why, he says the tire isn't available at Mavis because my car is too new (2019) and they don't have authorized tires. I say that's not possible and that I'll just go to another Mavis to confirm since I replaced this same tire at a Mavis location in Brooklyn just a few months after I got the car in 2019, which should also be in the system. He becomes visibly irritated, insists that he wouldn't lie to me and he can check every Mavis location on the computer to confirm. He then goes on about how I don't know what I'm talking about and says "have a good day" in the rudest tone and walks out before I can even get a word in.. The employee next to him also heard everything and chose not to speak up, which leads me to believe this is a common thread here. Now, I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt if he was say maybe having a bad day, we all do sometimes. However, this experience was so egregious from the jump that I can't imagine why an employee of any business would treat a potential customer this way. As someone who also serves clients (I'm a project manager), if I spoke to a client like this I'd probably be immediately reprimanded or fired. I almost walked out wondering if it was something I said but knew that wasn't possible. All in all, please avoid this place. I'm never coming back here and you shouldn't either. If anything, I'll probably make a call to their corporate office today to make a more formal complaint so others don't suffer the same fate I did. And btw, the Rockville centre Mavis had multiple tire options for my car and got my service completed in just over an hour, much shorter than I expected. The employee I worked with there was extremely sincere and I'll be giving them a MUCH better review. read more

I came in on Thursday, April 9th to get a leaky tire fixed on my 2018 Subaru Forester. So the manager (Raj) was a nice guy. Friendly to chat with. I know these are difficult times, and maybe the vehicle technician/mechanic didn't know what he was doing -- but I came in with a leaky tire. The mechanic said he couldn't patch it, and couldn't find anything causing the leak like a nail/screw etc, and I'd need a whole new tire. Very strange as it was in the middle of the tire and I've had these types of things patched before no problem (at other places besides Mavis). So then the guy tells me theres a leak in my back left tire too - weird. They patched the back left tire and charged me about $20 for it and put the spare (donut) tire on my front left tire. They were going to charge me $212 for a new front left tire. Thankfully, they didn't have the tire in stock and were trying to send me to the Farmingdale location to get the tire. Luckily, I was able to get to my normal place (180050 Tire across the street) the next day. 180050 Tire found a nail in the front left tire, removed it, patched it and I'm good to go (a patch job for $20 versus new tire @ Mavis at $212) It's really a shame that during these difficult times as we face the coronavirus pandemic that a place like Mavis (just because they sell tires) would try and take advantage of people. I also heard the technicians giving the lady after me the same business that they couldn't patch the tire and it'd need a whole new tire... What a scam, what a sham. I'll never go to Mavis again. Made an appointment a week in advance to get tires rotated (on a Saturday) they asked if I could come in A day earlier but I couldn't. I agreed to come super early Saturday then mentioned that I'd bring the special jack pucks needed to lift my car. After that they looked and my vehicle information and told me they don't perform work on Teslas. Very fast and efficient service! I had to get my inspection done before a long weekend away and the people at Mavis helped make it possible. I initially went to the Mavis discount in Rockville Center/Lynbrook, but the wait was 2 hours for a regular inspection. The guy at the desk was kind enough to help call and find this location and the wait was less than 10 minutes and it is right down the road too. The team at this location got me in and out within half an hour. Service at this desk was good. There is a small waiting room with magazines, a few chairs, air conditioning, and a restroom. The parking lot here is more packed than the Rockville Center location. read more

Read all the Yelp reviews and I was getting worried but my experience was more fine and I'm happy. Let me start by saying Bradley was the man. His demeanor may be offputting to some as he's very energetic, open and passionate but he's also incredible at his job. He was able to articulate to clueless customers what a shock absorber is and how a faulty one will affect your tire. I watched one of his particular customers go from annoyed to smiling and laughing by the end of her service. Everyone else I encountered was welcoming and not miserable (this is rare at a damn tire shop lol) which I appreciated as I have a 2hr wait to deal with + the impending $800 charge for my 4 tires with an alignment. Now.. my only word of caution is that there's no privacy here: it's a small little waiting room and half of it is dedicated to the bathroom and the counter. And unless you know what you want or what you're getting into, you'll be put on the spot, in front of other people, to agree to paying potentially hundreds of dollars for tires or services that you have no idea about. Do your research so you'll be prepared or even better, order what you want online and you'll even get some savings (that's what I did, $40 off my installation I believe) All in all, I had a great experience and I will absolutely be coming back here for anything else tire related. I recommended Mavis to a friend who needed an inspection done, simple, right? WRONG! He got a call that they needed the wheel lock in order to check the brakes for the inspection. He told them where the wheel lock was (in a pouch by the jack). A few minutes later, he get another call that they couldn't find it. He walks over to show them where it it should be and discovers that the moron working on his car had unnecessarily taken everything out of the back of the car and piled it on the stained, oily, dirty cement floor!! When he asked what the hell the guy was doing, the mechanic just mumbled. The manager was no help offering no reason nor a solution! My friend put the stuff back in his car, and angrily left this sorry excuse for a garage. PS: The wheel lock was EXACTLY where my friend said it was! read more

Instead of replacing they tried to patch it, another bubble occurred shortly after which is dangerous. They then said I needed a new tire. Thanks, I already knew that but trusted their expertise. They will also try to upsell you for unnecessary repairs. I get it, They are a business. They are trying to make money. I was here the other day and at first everything turned out fine. Bradley greeted everyone with a warm welcome and was professional (sort of). I was here to replace all four tires and the price was decent at first. Of course they tell you need a wheel alignment and then tire insurance and then the prices go through the roof. So when I say Bradley is sort of professional he only acts like that in front of your face but he's quick to bad mouth you behind your back when you step out the store. This guys is horrible, a wolf in sheep's clothing. He's a fraud and even a coward that he will not say it to their face. I was warned about this place but i decided to give them a try. My friend said that they gave her the wrong size tires and tried to convince her they were the right ones I guess since she was a female they tried to get away with it. As for me, they gave me tires that were not suitable for my suv. I had to argue with bradley and the manager of the store but they would admit they messed up. They refused to change the tires. I will be going to their corporate office and see if I can get it changed at another Mavis. Go somewhere else if you want professional help. These guys just want to steal money. My car hit a pothole on a sunday. I was able to drive it to Mavis and the tire was blown out. When i got there one of the mechanics said he could not help me because he had to see his daughter at 5pm meanwhile i was there at 1:30. He wouldn't even put the spare on. The Manager just sat there while this guy was rude and screaming and he did nothing. This is supposed to be a business? The rudest people i have ever met. The bill comes and they 'forgot' to tell me about the hidden charges which were $4.50 for the oil filter and $10 for oil change labor. Shady. I have purchased ties from Mavis before but not at this Valley Stream location. I dropped my car off early and picked it up in the afternoon after purchasing 4 new tires for my Jetta and an alignment. =$720.00 As am about to pull out of the Mavis driveway, I noticed that my steering wheel is greased up, that my drivers side floor rugs are soiled with greased footprints and the door handle and trunk all have greased palm prints . I turn around and point this out to the manager, who apologizes and gets the person that made this mess to clean it up. "I've been to many shops in the past few years and usually end up getting some angry guy to work on my car, which as you know isn't the best feeling. At this valley stream location I was served with respect from the moment I came in, and the service was amazing. I had a slashed tire and the worker that dealt with me understood the situation and had a quick convo about it which made me relaxed, all he did was jack up my car remove one tire and mount and balance the other one, the entire service was probably 8 mins.. These guys move quick, you'd think it was an express service shop. I ended up getting warranty on the tire for my X5 . I'm definitely coming back in the future if I have problems with my other cars. I spent around $800 for 4 brand new tires and balancing/alignment. No balancing was done, no alignment either. I will not waste my time going back and forth about services I did not receive even though it was paid for, I just went across the street and got the alignment done elsewhere. I explained my grief with the salesman and he gave it to me for half off. I cannot deal with nitwits when it comes to my car, my grand babies ride with me all the time! Mavis is terrible. Went to this Mavis over the weekend after needing 4 tires for my Subaru. They priced matched a local competitor that I DID NOT want to go to, and they didn't give me any hassle about it. I told them the price and they matched it. There was a $20 something charge on the receipt that wasn't explained to me but I really didn't feel like arguing about it. Staff was very friendly, didn't try to sell me anything beyond an alignment which I know I needed. It was Memorial Day and the place was pretty busy. I was acknowledged within about 20 seconds of walking in, even though the guy who greeted me was working with someone else. I brought it in at about 3:30pm and picked up the car at 5pm...on a busy day. Awesome service. Will definitely go back. read more

This place is shady. I bought a new tire and added the insurance because i got pot holed. I bought that new tire in May. Now its march. Not even a year yet and i got pot holed again. Guy charged me full price. Said my tires are done? How can my thread wear be done fully? I only drove it 8k miles since i got it replaced. What am i doing burnouts everyday??? How can they charge me for a full price? Wheres the insurance in that? I thought it would be discounted based on thread life. I asked to show me thread life and they wouldnt show it to me.
