Repaired tire, rotation made recommendations, gave me cost od pressure sensors that needed replacing, very kind.

I showed up 10 minutes early for my appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. I waited there for 70 mins only for them to give me my keys back and tell me they don't have time to work on my car because they were closing. They then proceeded to take another lady's car into the back who got there 30 minutes AFTER me. COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME AND TERRIBLE WAY TO TREAT CUSTOMERS. read more

I was on the way home from our Family vacation this past Sunday when a tire blew out on the highway. Not ideal as I had the whole family with me and was still over an hour and a half away from home. I put on the spare and went searching for shops and most were closed except this one. I got there maybe 40 minutes to closing time and they had 2 cars currently being worked on. I explained my situation to the gentleman behind the desk and he agreed to help me. they worked quickly and efficiently and before I knew it I was back on the road safely. Correct me if I'm wrong but brakes and an oil change shouldn't take 6+ hours. I made an appointment 3 days prior for first thing Saturday morning, got here right when they opened and ended up waiting till after 2:30pm to get my car back. On top of this, someone I know brought their car in at the exact same time as me(also made an appointment) and had their car back before 11. I will be going back to my local mechanic once he reopens his shop. read more

I almost didn't come based off the reviews but I'm so glad iI had no other option because my Experience was completely different than the reviews. I called around 10:30 explained I had a flat i can see the piece in my tire. He said I can get you in today but I wouldn't come now theres a wait i have an appt at 1. I explained i was 5 minutes away and 1:00pm was fine but could i drop it off so I didnt have to drive unnecessarily. He said absolutely and told me to try to get air in tire before I attempted to drive (I had explained I was at a gas station). Dropped my car off my only ride back could only drop me back around 115 so when I got back they were just taking my car back i didnt care its a sunday and i had a book i was just happy to have gotten in somewhere. I had waited Maybe 45 minutes which was fine. I dealt with AARON the entire time who was professional, kind and explained everything through. I would definitely come back here. I also need to shout AARON out again because someone who just showed up was extremely rude to the person they were with as well as everyone in the store. Aaron handled the situation with such care and patience even when they finally were done and moved to the next person in line the woman got back up and just walked up To the desk got in Aarons face like the other customer wasn't even there. Aaron explained he wasnt working on the car but the person who was Paul can come speak to them. Paul came right out and again big props to Paul he remained calmed and patient and explained it all. Not once was there a rude tone even after the woman pretty much called them all stupid because they told her they don't sell used tires its illegal in the state of nj. came in to get all my tires replaced before a big trip. they put on the tires, but didn't balance them. I ended up driving most of my trip with unbalanced tires wearing them down, and ended up having to pay extra at a mechanic along the trip to get the tires balanced. it's been a few months now, and my tires are already worn down and losing traction on terms. never coming here again, can't even put the tires on and finish the job by balancing them. read more

I've been there twice. Once for my brother's car, and just recently for mine. The amount of money that they charged my brother was crazy high. I brought it in for just a oil change and they start doing more work and charged a bunch. I was quoted $99 per tire for my car and they ended up being $570. They even got upset when I said not to do an alignment because it's a new car and didn't need it. Voided the warranty of tires. They were actually pissed. Someone else mentioned that they need customer service training. They were 100% right. read more

I had made an appointment for an oil change and tune up several weeks in advance. I told them I had to wait for the car and could not leave it. That is why I made an appointment. When I arrived half hour early for my appointment, he said they did not have my appointment. They said I could leave my car and they would "get to it when they could". I just got a call and the price is $315. They said I picked out the tire. Trust me- I don't know the first thing about tires and they didn't give me a choice to choice from. I was driving along Rt. 46 down Mine Hill and my low tire pressure light came on. I thought it might be from the cold or I may have had a nail in a tire. I stopped in and told the gentleman behind the counter what was wrong. He asked me to pull in front of door #1 where he proceeded to check and fill all my tires to the correct pressure. He found no foreign objects and said I was good to go. I asked him what I owed and he said, "Just have a nice weekend." I thanked him and went on home. That to me is amazing customer service. This used to be run by a great staff, not anymore. The staff working on the cars are friendly, knowledgeable. The staff working the desk are rude, talk down to you and at times don't listen to what you are saying. Good for simple things only because their prices are a little cheaper. Came in for them to remove a nail in my tire and they said they "removed it". Right when I got home and parked my car I saw the nail I called about. Not saying there wasn't two nails but this one was quite obvious. So than I had to come back down the next day and wait another hour and a half for them to fix it. I needed an oil change so I said let's give this place another try. I made an appointment yesterday for 11am today. I walk in exactly at 11am and they tell me there's a hour and half wait because they had 3 walk in previous to me. Why would you offer appointments if you still have to wait an hour and a half till they can even see your car. This place is unprofessional and they do not have any customer service experience. I will not be coming here again. This is the second chance I gave them and clearly they just want your money and nothing else. read more

The store in Ledgewood/ Succasunna is great. Very friendly owner, Professional and fast. They gave me good advice. Bought 4 new Tires and had them installed there, at a good price. I compared them to internet wholesale sites who ship tires, but Mavis's Price was as good, plus they install them there, also repaired one on my old spare tires free of charge. Second time this has happened. Brought the car in for an oil change. Ended up getting an estimate for $800 worth of work. A mechanic in town fixed it for less than $200. Last year same type of thing happened - Mavis estimate was $2000, mechanic fixed it for $700. Once you say ok they were a little over zealous. Twice?? Warning! They are no longer STS Tire. They are Mavis and they no longer put fluids in during basic oil changes. They are cutting costs by not adding fluids as STS used to do. They completely destroyed and ruined my car by not putting a four dollar bottle of coolant into the car during an oil change. They are to be avoided at all costs--- crude people-- Especially when dealing with the main headquarters. One exec tried to lie in order to get out of reimbursing me for the damages they caused. Even former STS tire employees on other sites have stated they aren't a good company anymore. The reason why I gave this place one star is because I went to get my tires done last week and their great but, after they finished they told all this stuff had to get done but I went to my regular mechanic and turns out I needed nothing done right away. The other thing was some of the workers are completely and utterly rude. Something else is that I went back today because one of the new tires I got from there and also installed there was leaking and many people who came after me were able to go in front of me like I wasn't even there and I was there for a full hour and they only had to check on little thing would have taken them 5 minutes not even. I was in for a brake out light today - I was in and out really quickly and was really happy with how RJ was at the service desk. The only thing that I was kind of upset about was watching one of the mechanics stalling my car a couple of times until one of the other mechanics went out to help him out some before he was able to get my car into the garage. Just think that all of the mechanics there should know how to drove stick better if they are going to work on cars. Other then that, completely happy with the service there! read more

I've used four different STS shops over the past 15 years, and I have never had a problem with their service. My experience at this location will result in me NEVER using the STS brand again. I originally came in for an alignment. They did the alignment, but told me that I needed about $600 of repairs, including new axles. When they gave my car back, it still pulled hard to the right. I came in a couple of months later to schedule an appointment for the next morning, as I needed to go to work later in the day, and I was told that I had an appointment and the work would be done well before I needed to leave. I came back in the next morning, when they opened, and there was already a line there and all of the garages had cars in them. I was told that the appointment was never entered in the computer, but they would try to help me. I ended up over an hour late to work, and after $600 of repairs, my car STILL pulled hard to the right. I came back later to get my car aligned, but the machine was always down or there was always too long of a line. And while working six days a week, I just ignored it until I needed a new tire. So I come back to STS to get it aligned yesterday, and I tell them clearly which tire and what I need done, and I get my car back and they changed two tires. So now they have to go bring my car back in and put my old tire back on. A minor annoyance, but I was nice to the apologetic tech, and sat down and awaited my chariot. Special touches: the mechanic drives my car up and tosses me the keys, I go to my car and either the mechanic had soiled his pants, or he farted in my car and left the windows up. That was definitely appreciated. But all I know is that I will never use the STS brand again nor suggest it to anyone that I know. If you want incompetence and to possibly be charged for work that you do not need, or to have to come back three times for one alignment, then this is the place for you! And if you're curious, the fart was on the house. No charge. read more

This business is close to my home. I used it once to swap winter tires onto my vehicle. I had to walk to the back of the parking lot to get my vehicle even though there were closer open spots. Recently I got a flat and found a nail in the tread. I brought it in to get a plug put in. The service advisor came out to tell me the tire couldn't be repaired due to sidewall damage. Upon inspection it appears that someone took a grinder to the inside of the tire, there was even ground rubber inside the tire. I will never use Mavis again at any of their locations! I ended up buying new tires at Sears. Mavis not only lost this sale, but any future sales. Avoid these scammers! read more

It pains me to type this. For 15+ years I had a wonderful relationship with STS. Then Mavis took over. I noticed that the gang that took such good car of my cars were one by one being replace. Within the last 3 months the level of service has hit rock bottom. I really think that they only want to sell tires and do nothing else. Twice now (once after being towed in for the third time for the same problem) they told me there was nothing they could do and suggest that I take vehicle to dealer. Had two tires installed (front). When I went to pick up the car the person at the desk mentioned that my rear brakes probably needed replacement. In my head I'm thinking why did they take off my rear tires if all I wanted were two in the front? Anyways, I bring the car home and decided to check them myself. First thing I noted was the lug nuts had too much torque on them. The second thing I noticed after removing the nuts that one of the nuts and the corresponding wheel stud were stripped. How hard is it to put on lug nuts correctly? Apparently for this shop way way too hard. read more

Car would not start. Dropped it off Friday at 1:30. Called Sunday at 10:15. Still not fixed Sunday at 10:15. Said they would do "further diagnosis" Monday at 9:00. So, Friday, Saturday, Sunday nothing done! We have been having our car serviced at this location since 1995 when it was Hacketstown Tire. Will never go back. No communication. No prioritization.
