This is by far the worst place for service, I have been there multiple times and they are the worst. i brought my truck in for a tire plug they said it couldnt be plugged and they told me I had to buy two tires. So I had them order the tires never heard from them. So I took my truck to another place plugged it without any hesitation. went again yesterday for an oil change never reseted my messages still saying I need an oil change and never put the updated sticker in my window. also they are price gauging people back brakes for over 500 I can go anywhere else for 400. never go to the Hackettstown Mavis. they don't deserve even 1 star. read more

This service in February 2025 was to repair a tire that lost pressure quickly overnight. I was able to wait a little over an hour while they checked it and were able to repair it. $31 for this repair was a lot better than having to get a new tire this time. read more

Absolutely horrible experience, I have brought my 2021 car in for brakes and rotors three times this year. I am still having pulsating when breaking. They overcharged me and only replaced the rear and not the front brakes and rotors which didn't fix the issue. When I called to get a better understanding of what is going on and where we go from here, I was hung up on twice. And when I told them I was with a mechanic friend for technical advice they said, "then he can figure it out" and hung up. My mechanic friend DID figure it out, but I paid for a service that wasn't completed and now want my money back but cannot get in contact with corporate or the store itself without being hung up on. read more

I made an appointment for an oil change, it would have been the first appointment time of the day, I showed up on time for my appointment and sat there for almost an hour before they even took my car in. Not sure why there are a lot of bad reviews... I didn't see them until after my car was in the shop. That being said, I experienced none of what everybody else is saying in these reviews. I came in with a flat and needed 4 new tires put on by the next day. I travel a lot for work so it was essential that it was done by the next day. Told the person at the desk and he said that they can do it. I trusted his word and went along with it. Next day rolls around and they filled their promise. Thank you for squeezing me in and getting the job done in a timely manner! Don't let the reviews scare you... Typically people leave reviews when something bad happens. Wow! How shady! My sister had a nail in her tire. Her tires were about 2 months old. She brought it here to get patched. They said the nail was in the sidewall and could not be patched. Then they tried to sell her new tires, they didn't have the matching tires in stock so then came the 4 new tire sales pitch. She then had them just put the spare on and ordered a single matching tire. They then tried to keep the wheel and gave her a difficult time about taking it back saying that they will keep the wheel so I can be mounted when the tire comes in. They finally gave her back her wheel and she went to another shop and the nail was not in the sidewall and could not have been anymore in the middle of the tread. Makes you wonder why they didn't want to give her the wheel back. I am shocked to see any good reviews on here. read more

This place is a HUGE disappointment. I will not be going back there. They were very slow, 2 hours at least. They also mixed up my car with another one and made me wait longer because of their mistake. They wouldn't even own up to it. They were unfriendly and completely phony when dealing with the customer. I used Mavis on Rt 46 in Hackettstown earlier this year to replace 4 tires and get an alignment. - They confirmed the tires were in stock, but it still took 3 full days to get my car back- we dropped it off Sunday morning, and it wasn't ready until end of day Tuesday. - When I was finally able to pick up my car, I paid and got in my car to leave, but there were error lights on. I went back inside and asked them to check it again. - As I was waiting, I mentioned the wheel alignment to the man who had taken my payment, and was told no alignment was done. I asked why I was not told, he told me the machine broke. I pulled out my bill and sure enough, I was charged for an alignment. I asked why I was charged for a service I did not receive (and was not told I did not receive, until I asked)- his reply was: "We charged you $10 less." I said, "I am not paying for a service that wasn't done" and asked him to reverse the charge. This man, who apparently is the manager there, could not understand why I was not happy and claimed he didn't know how to do a credit, so I asked one of the other workers and he put the credit through. 4- I called corporate to make a complaint, but all they did was have the same manager call me. He offered a free alignment and would call me once the machine was fixed. I agreed, knowing he would never call me. Six months later, he never did call. I will never again use Mavis, and would not recommend them to anyone. If you do have no choice but to use them, watch them carefully (and check over your bill before making any payments!). read more

Went for an oil change a little after 8:00am and someone was not there to have the store open. Whoever opened was late. Then I wait in line, ask for an oil change and they ask if I had an appointment and I said no. So they ended up saying they couldn't do it. To top it off, no mechanic was even there. It seems like this place is unreliable and is very under staffed. I wouldn't trust them to do ANY work on my car, even an oil change at this point. read more

My partner bent a rim, and needed a new tire. We took it here, expecting that a business that specializes in tires would be the fastest way to get the tire replaced. It took nine days for them to get a rim from a junkyard and change the tire. Along the way we called several times to check on the progress. Every phone call brought conflicting reports on whether the rim was in, or when the car would be done. Either people don't know what's going on there, or they habitually deceive customers with time estimates. Next time the family mechanic will get it done in 2-3 days for us. Brought my car in for a slow tire leak. When I say slow I mean like weeks, I'd putting air in my tire like 3 times over a 3 month period but finally got sick of that and brought it in. Was told they couldn't fix it and that I needed a new tire (that I had to order myself). Less than 24 hours later my tire was completely flat. They insisted that didn't do anything and the nail must have come out, but it was still in my tire when I took it off to put on the spare. They then left me on hold for over ten minutes until I hung up. Horrible experience, do not go here. read more

On 2 different occasions, first they forgot to put a TPMS Sensor back in new tire, said it was the car not reading it, and second time rotating tire mis-threaded lug nut and over tightened it. OUTSTANDING!! Having forgotten I put 4 new tires on in March of 2021 because who can remember anything these days thought I'd need 4 tires because I had a flat. Eric showed me on the tire when it was made and didn't try to take advantage of my forgetfulness and explained there was plenty of tread. They inspected the flat and were able to repair!!! have gotten tires on 2 vehicles at Mavis Discount Tires, Hackettstown, NJ. The team will schedule appointments as well as do their best to take walk-ins. They provide good service. Like anywhere just make sure the information they record on receipt is accurate such as auto mileage, includes alignment values. They can be a bit lax in recording information on the receipt but will correct upon asking. Work done on vehicles seems fine overall. read more

Brought my daughters car there for 1 tire to be changed because she had a flat. Jason at the front desk was awesome. They took my car right in and I was out in 15 minutes. Come to find out after sensor reading said 'low tire pressure' they never put the sensor back on the tire and they put wheel on backwards. Thank God I had someone recheck these errors. Beware when paying your bill. They charge for extended warranty on the tire which is completely bogus. They don't let you know and made aware of. I made arrangements with them, they sounded nice, but had my husband pick and pay the car. He didn't check the bill. Lesson learned. Part of their scam. I walked in and saw 5 other people waiting and asked again about how long the wait was. The guy working the front desk said around an hour to which another dude behind him looked at the work order (an oil change and a tire patch) and told me only 40 minutes. An hour later I'm still waiting and had to remind them about what they had said. They had forgot the order of people coming in and 2 other customers that arrived after me got to go ahead of me. I wanted to love this place. It's close to home, and the STS that they bought was amazing. I'm really hoping it's growing pains, but when I went in there today they didn't have any heat in the waiting room. That didn't bother me initially, but then the service tech came in an asked how to turn the parking break off on my car. I admit the tech not knowing how to drive a Prius, I get, but when he came back and said the Senior Tech wanted to see me about it, now I'm at a loss. How does a Senior Tech not know how to turn off a parking break? I had to get into the car and show them. The hilarity continues as once back inside, the guy at the front desk asked if I wanted full synthetic or another type of oil. At first I thought he was just so use to the question he said it, but no, he too didn't know a Prius can't have anything but a full synthetic. It's not 2009... Prius' have been out for awhile now. There's no reason these teams aren't trained on them at all. By the way, after an hour in a 50 degree waiting room, having to all but show them how to do the oil change, I was charged the full $69. NO stars in my opinion!! I called this location early Wednesday morning, 6/27', and spoke with Brian about having a tire repaired due to a slow leak. I told him I couldn't get there until 5:30pm and Brian said no problem. I showed up at 5:3]pm and Chris told me he only had two Technicians and couldn't get me in. I told him about my conversation with Brian earlier in the day and he just said they couldn't do it. I then called first thing in the morning on Friday, 6/29, and spoke with Chris again. He remembered who I was and said he would definitely get my car taken care of. I also said I wouldn't be there until 5:30pm. So... I got there at 5:20pm and talked to Chris and was told they were too busy and couldn't get me in. Bottom line... their customer service sucks and they don't stick to their commitments. I will NEVER patronize this Mavis location again. Aggravation doesn't come near explaining my thoughts about them. read more

Won't be coming back here. Was told about an hour and almost 2 hours later they hadn't even taken my car in. Suddenly when I went to get my keys back to go somewhere else they immediately took it in. Never had such BAD customer service. Hubby brought the tire in Sunday for repair since it's closer to my work than the Mavis in Newton. We were told I could pick it up the next day and they would put it on. When I went to pick it up, they said they had nobody who could put the tire back on - they were short handed. It would literally take them less than two minutes to do it. They sure had enough time to take the tire, repair it, take my money and be rude about it.
