This review is for the Mavis at 1183 N Lecanto Hwy, Lecanto, FL *******. I asked the price for an oil change on my 80 yr old mother's 2011 Toyota Camry and was told $50.00 for regular oil. My mother the following day brought the car in to have it done. After they got it up on the lift and started draining the oil they told her that had to put synthetic in and the price was $90.00. They made no mention of this when I asked the previous day. They saw an old women come in and shafted her. On a side note, on the same day I asked about the the oil change, I also asked about changing the rear differential fluid on my 1997 Chevy Tahoe and was told that it had to have synthetic fluid put in it at $110.00. I told the gentleman behind the counter that was BS because they didn't run synthetic in them when they were originally manufactured. Stay Away from this business they ripoff old ladies. read more

Had some trouble at the dealership, after being assured by my dealer "I wouldn't find anything better" I went on to get some quotes. When I spoke to bill here he assured me they'd take a close look at my car and said he'd see what the problems were. Following up bill had concluded my car actually needed and significantly less than what my dealer originally stated, and took half the time they would've taken. Definitely worth the look. I brought my car in for a shimmy in the steering wheel. I needed brakes. after I got the brakes done the car made a weird noise. I brought the car back 3 DAYS in a row with being told "they don't know, come back on Monday" Why am bringing my car back for a 4th day if you don't know. I went elsewhere to find out they put the WRONG SIZE BRAKES on the front of my car!!!!!! HOW DOES A QUAILIFED MECHANIC DO THAT???? I called Doug at Mavis on Monday and I was told he was fired. I spoke to a new manager, Ramel, who told me he would get back to me by the end of the day. I had to call him!!!! Now I am on the phone with corporate, they answered, asked for my phone number and I am on hold for 15 minutes! I wouldn't trust this company with anything on my car ever again and I suggest you stay away as well! I was on hold and they disconnected me. SO now I call and start court proceedings! Had them take care of my tire needs for my old Subaru on several occasions. I took my new VW there today after discovering a leak in my summer tires. Got there when they opened, I was out the door a half hour later with a repaired tire. So far every experience since they opened in Florida, NY has been positive. Pricing is VERY reasonable and they've had everything in stock with very little wait time. The only issue I have with the place is the constant need to up-sell their products and services. I didn't run into it with my most recent visit, but if you can will yourself to resist the up-sells and just have them do what you need done - it's a good shop. read more

Great job on emergency replacement! Realized on a Sunday afternoon that I dad a bubble and separated side wall on one of my tires from hitting a large pothole. Justin helped me track down a replacement tire and got it installed for a reasonable price within less than 30 mins before closing time on a Sunday afternoon. The tire was a run-flat and $20 cheaper than anywhere I can find online, which is hard to beat. The guy who replaced the tire installed it in 15 mins flat while I waited in the waiting room. Highly recommended! This location was super helpful, night and day difference than another Mavis in Warwick who sent me away even though that location didn't have any customers. Edit: Car actually feels more balanced than when it was new from factory, my car had a steer wheel shake at around 75mph before, now it's gone after getting the tire replaced. read more

I was visiting the area for a wedding and I had a nail in the tire. Was able to get the tire fixed in an hour/hour and a half as promised. The assistant Manager, Keith was very nice and accommodating. I gave 2 stars for these following reasons: 1) They charged me $27 to plug one tire. Usually this costs around $10-15 dollars. I definitely got ripped off. Granted, i didn't search around and find somewhere cheaper however time was of the essence. 2) When i was driving home, i could hear the spare tire shifting/squeaking under my car. I don't think this was secured properly and now will have to go have it checked by someone else. If you're desperate and have no other options, then this is the place for you! read more

DO NOT GO HERE. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A FEMALE. I went in for an oil change for my car and told them specifically that was all I wanted because I got a new car and wouldnt be driving this anymore. I left to go run errands down the street, and they called me saying something was wrong, and when I got back to the shop they started wiggling things under my car saying they were loose and that my car was 100% unsafe to drive. They told me I need an entire front end rebuild, quoted at $600+. When I declined multiple men were berating me with things such as "why would you even risk driving that home" "its a death trap" " I CANT believe you're denying this" Honestly they scared the sh*t out of me and made me very worried to drive my car. Brought it home, propped it up and looked at it again, nothing wiggled. Nothing was wrong. THEY LOOSENED THE BOLT TO SCARE ME INTO PAYING $600+ My dad brought it back, asked them to show him what was wrong, they put it on the lift again, and couldn't find the issue. The store manager made a sorry excuse for his employees and no one took responsibility. Called the DM, who refused to call us back. Nothing was done by upper management, and this makes me believe that they are condoning this behavior by their retailers to make a profit Please, do not go here. I would not trust them one bit with anything that I drive. The management is a poor excuse and won't take responsibility for their employee's shady actions. It is unfortunate that as a young female car driver I am apparently subject to con-artists like the men that work at this shop. If I wasn't from a family with multiple car-enthusiasts I might have actually dropped all that money, because you are supposed to be able to trust mechanics with your life. read more

I left my car here for an oil change. I picked it up and drive home. Upon getting into my car, I noticed the radio station had been changed, there were greasy hand prints on the dash and steering wheel. Obviously, the shop tech was playing with the radio and touching items that he had no reason to. When I arrived home, I noticed a large scratch. I immediately called Mavis. The shop manager gave me the cooperate number to contact. After receiving video footage from shop cameras. The video clearly shows the tech squeezing between the vehicle and the car lift, scratching the paint with keys, or his belt clip. After many phone calls and trying to get this damage resolved. Mavis completely denied any fault, even though the video clearly shows their actions. DO NOT USE MAVIS FOR YOUR CAR REPAIRS! If this is how they handle a simple oil change, I clearly won't let them touch my tires and trust them tightening my lug nuts properly! read more

Very disappointed with them. I called for a quote on 4 new tires for my car. They told me that they were running a sale on the tires I needed and quoted me at $55 per tire. When it came time to pay, the bill was for $75 dollars per tire. I asked the man what the deal was and he said "well these tires were actually $88 per and we gave you a discount to $75". After some back-and-forth with the guy, I end up just paying the price. But I will never go here again and I would caution anyone who takes their business there. read more

I had a hole in the sidewall of my tire we discovered on Dec 22. I called the corporation the next day, Dec 23 and was given the run around on appointments that got canceled because the tires stated "in stock" on the website were not even available at the stores. I finally called the number on the website for the Florida store. I was told by the person who picked up that they had Michelin tires in that could be installed on Dec 24 anytime after ten. I made a 10:30 appointment and got there the next day. I was told that those tires are not available and are coming on a truck and to return at 12:30. I explained my issues with even getting this appointment and that the person specifically said they were in the store. They then told me I could get Pirelli's instead. I asked for a few minutes to just look it up so I could see if I would want to spend the $800 plus it was going to cost. One of the workers there got really defensive and argued with me about the tires. He also was very condescending. I tried to explain that some of the positives mentioned (like being used on name brand race cars etc) applied to Michelin as well. I felt he was very rude and insulting as if there was no way I could know anything. The final straw for me was when he said" you have a husband right? You could ask him". I told him my opinion about his sexist remarks in no uncertain terms. To add insult they did have the other tires. So first I was given a run around for tires I was then told was subpar to others in stock, then talked down to because I am a woman who should ask her husband about tires. Although they did eventually install the Pirelli's, I found the whole episode to be very frustrating and unnecessary. Mavis corporation should be communicating more clearly with specific stores and the workers should not insult a person's intelligence based on their gender. read more

Used them for a number of years, and the turnover inside is pretty bad. Sometimes you get someone really good and sometimes not so much. Every has been nice, they do have that going for them. When they recommended I change something that I didn't think had an issue, I was suspect. They said they were bad and needed to be replaced asap. I took it to another mechanic to check out, and they said everything looked perfectly fine, in fact the parts were in great condition. Would have cost me over $500!!!! Never going back! read more

We lease a 2016 Toyota 4Runner. It has 27k Miles. Wife had the TPM warning light go off. She popped in to have them check the tire they filled it and checked all 4 and topped off as well. They then tell her shocks and struts are bad and that is causing uneven wear and it would be about $1000 and possibly 4 new tires at $200 apiece. Wife calls me upset and tells me to call Robert. I do some research online and struts shocks don't go till 80-100k miles and we're not doing off-roading here. I call him and ask how can they possibly be bad? He says "not bad, weak" . I see from several online reviews this is a common upsell reason and tell my wife to take it to our old trustworthy mechanic, Donny at Elliots's Automotive in Middletown he graciously fits us in and after getting it on the lift he laughs and says rotate your tires on your next oil change. Lesson of the day...Mavis lost a customer for good and a trustworthy mechanic is worth their weight in gold. read more

Got our tires balanced there, but within 10 miles of leaving we heard all the lead weights fly off one by one and the car was immediately out of balance again. The store had just closed and we had to leave the next morning for a road trip so we couldn't go back. very frustrating. To be fair when did call them about this, they did say we could come back to get it fixed again, but given the road trip this was impossible. read more

Safety warning!!!!! Anyone who has gotten new tires or a balance at the MAVIS in Florida NY this past week should go back! Apparently they had no idea their machine was not balancing properly until I called them from another MAVIS 80 miles away! Always nice to have two kids in the car, and your car starts shaking at 60 mph! I guess you get what you pay for! I know from my dealings with them, they will not be calling anyone who had work done, so if you had work done, get it checked by someone! So much for shopping local! read more

I have used Mavis twice now. Once for a tire repair and once for oil change. Both times I was treated courteously and efficiently and the work was done quickly. The tire on my first vehicle kept registering low and Mavis found a nail and plugged the tire. I asked if I needed a new tire and they said absolutely not. It's been a month since and the tire is working fine. The oil change on a second vehicle was completed quickly. I found the prices to be in line with other local places and the staff were polite and friendly and did not try to sell me extra services, which I greatly appreciate. Highly recommend. read more

Worst ever, should of done oil change myself, wife brought car in for oil change, we have a newer suv, was called during oil change to hear that power steering fluid needed to be flushed when power steering was fine, I just found out that they also charged her 25 bucks each per wind shield wiper, they searched threw car as back latch light was on when wife drove away, car window was left open and our car reeked of someone's calone that neither of us wear, went in for oil change , 160 bucks later for oil change, ridiculous!! Very aggravated, should of got off my lazy but and done it myself, wish I read other reviews first as well, will never do that again read more

Had new pads and rotors replaced on my car drove it home at 5.00 PM noticed noises coming from drivers side .called them they said being it in tomorrow Saturday. Drove to work 50 miles each way went to Mavis told them noise was quite bad front left wheel they checked it out called in back of shop said they had bad news struts completely shut! Trans making bad noises also .was going to wedding that afternoon told them would bring it in first thing Sunday morning asked them sure it wasn't the brakes making the noises "yea positive ".drove 50 miles each way to wedding. Next morning pulled wheels off myself before going to Mavis found left side caliper missing one of two bolts gone second one half out. Brought it to Mavis they said oops and put new bolt in. Struts were not shot! Would have spent 700.oo for nothing .bought car to Amoco had trans fluid change said nothing was wrong with trans! Nice huh!!! 0 read more

In this past week since my experience Sunday, I received phone calls from the store manager, customer service department, and the brand ambassador. I thought they really cared, offered to perform the alignment for me free of charge since they didn't offer it last time and sent a voucher for future. So I showed up today to have the alignment fixed, and they don't know who I am, or why I am there. I explain a second time what was supposed to happen, and still nothing. At that point I became instantly turned off, and not willing to spend any more effort or time in this store. Sorry Mavis, even with your "continuously striving to ensure complete customer service" this was an epic fail. Don't bother calling or trying again, as I am taking my vehicle maintenance money back to Firestone. read more

I called them once to get a quote for the break job on my 2010 CRV. They gave me price over the phone. The price was out of this world so I decided not to do the job and told them that I will think about it and never called them back. The next day and the rest of that week, they kept calling me like crazy. I wasn't answering the phone because I saw on my caller ID it was them. But they were so stubborn and persistent that they kept calling and weren't giving up. I was like, wow... they must be so slow now that they want to get that job from me so bad. Also, I'm not sure why other 11 one star reviews are hidden. If so many people wrote bad about them - it means they ARE bad ! It must be True ! This site should put those reviews back here. And even though they are hidden I read them all anyway and I encourage all of you to also read "not recommended" reviews. This site also removed my review 3 times. Now I will have someone else write it here with minimally tweaked content. We will try till it sticks and people will see all I had to say. Other than that...you can go and try this place if you like to overpay. read more
