What a lifesaver Alex and his team has been. It was around 7pm and I needed my car serviced asap. I was out of town for work. When I got to my car my tired was flat. I got towed to their location and was able to walk in and get my flat fixed and a much needed oil change within the hour. They were super friendly and fast! Thank you so much again for saving the day( and my car) read more

I recently had a nail in one of my tires that required a simple removal and patch. I stopped by yesterday around 4 PM but was told they were too busy at the time. I understood and made an appointment to return today at 4 PM, as the tire was only slowly losing air. When I came back as scheduled, I left my car with the expectation that it would be completed within about an hour, as advised. Unfortunately, even after waiting, the service had not yet been started. While I was prepared to accept the quoted price of $46 plus tax for the repair, I did expect that the work would be completed within the promised timeframe. Given the delay and lack of follow-through, I've decided to take my car elsewhere--likely to Norwood BP Gas Station, where I had a similar repair done efficiently for $15 just last month. The staff were courteous and pleasant, which I do appreciate. However, based on this experience, I don't think I would choose to return in the future. read more

I am grateful that the new manager, Arnold is knowledgeable and his team are great. I was informed on what I needed and everything including the time where I left and came back. I would definitely come back and bring my Mercedes to this place again. read more

I had a flat tire. I came here to repair the tire, and the charge was higher than that of the ordinary tire shop. I changed all the fine valve core covers to STEEL HAWK Precision CNC Machined Stainless Steel. I just bought from Amzon. After few days. I found that they change the cheapest plastic for all the coversit's terrible. Everyone go there be careful of things being stolen from your car. It was a very bad experience read more

I dropped my car off on time for an appointment to get 1 tire replaced. I called exactly 3 hours later to get an update when no one followed up. I was told nothing was done as they couldn't mount the new tire because it arrived defective, Not sure if that's true or not but I was also told that making an appt didn't really matter because they only use the appt to order the tire. I left with the spare and declined all the work. I was not charged, not that I would have paid anyway. If you go on a Saturday just be prepared to have your car gone for the entire day. read more

oddly, I've told myself many times, I should never go back to Mavis in Closter, but this is the last time. I'll never go back. Today, I simply wanted to swap 4 tires from one set of wheels to another, tires are a year old and I wanted them on a different set of wheels. I was told quite clearly, twice, unless the tires are brand new with the stickers still on them, they cannot dismount them and install them on a different set of wheels. The previous time, my wife's SUV, just installing new winter tires onto winter wheels, they told me the brake pads were down to dangerous level and the rear shocks were leaking. Neither of these were true. The brake pads have beveled edges so they appeared thin, but upon closer inspection, they had only slight wear compared to the new pads I installed. And, the shocks had no problems. I'll never go back, they should be ashamed of how they run their business. Bring back Closter Motors. read more

I was moving from NY to South Carolina. On the Palisades, my tire pressure light came on so I googled Mavis and was directed to the shop in Closter, NJ. Joe who is the manager was extra helpful and empathetic. He did not "upsell" me which would have been easy given my circumstances. They found a large screw, removed it, plugged it and sent me on my way. I highly recommend this Mavis shop for their professionalism. read more

My friend recommended Mavis in Closter when I had a flat tire. John was very helpful and I was in and out of there is a timely manner.

I called and was able to come in the same day for a metal shard in the tire of my new electric SUV. The guys handled my car with great care and were able to remove the shard and thankfully plug the tire. I was very happy with the service, care, and price of the fix. I will be using this Mavis for all my tire needs in the future. read more

Took my Tesla to repair a tire that keeps deflating , paid over $300 for repair, had to take it back 3 times cause the problem was not fixed! Also, months ago took it to rotate tires, I was told by the "manager" that my front and back tires were different so count be rotated, when I called Tesla , I was told that "Yes" you rotate them left to right, I wonder what kind of service this location is providing?! very upsetting! UPDATE, went today for the 4th time to fix the same issue with the same tire that was supposed to be repaired, no they told me is not able to get fixed and I need to purchase a new tire! incredible. Dropped off for New Tires(4) and alignment Went to pick up the truck was not done They were not sure when it will be ready They were quick to place the order slow to do the work. The problem is they scheduled too much work. Never again will I go to the Closter NJ store. Their customer service is terrible. While there other people came in to complain This not the tire store that you should go to. They have no follow through. read more

Alex at Mavis got me right in and took care of my issue extremely fast. Great service!

Called to see wait time on a wheel balance and alignment. The individual answering the phone stated 1-1.5 hours for the service to complete and there was space for me to come right away. After waiting for 2 hours, my car was driven onto the alignment machine. On the 3rd hour I was getting frustrated and asked for an eta and the service manager checks with the guy and he said it'll be finished in 15 mins. After the job was completed, I drive home less than 2 miles from the shop. I find the wheel weights on the right side of my vehicle coming off. Never will I be going to this shop. read more

The first time I came here, took almost 4 hours to change my tires (I brought my own from Tire Rack). The next time I called ahead to make sure they weren't busy, but when I arrived, they refused to honor the price that they had quoted me over the phone. They tried to tell me that since I had an Audi, the price was higher. I took my car somewhere else and haven't looked back since. read more

I would give a 0(ZERO) rating if I could. Bunch of scammers!!! They tried to sell my 70 year mother all 4 tires, while we literally just got 2 new tires 6 months ago and the other 2 are at 65% thread. Then she almost had a panic attack because they told her it was "NOT SAFE". Don't use these guys, people like this should not be in business. Just because this location is in an expensive area, doesn't mean you should be "taking people for a ride". read more

Absolutely horrible... I never complain.... I have been going to Mavis all my life to get my car oil change and fixes. Usually I go to west Nyack NY but I tried closter NJ. The person on the phone lied to me about the total price. Initially wanted only oil change but told me about back breaks and rotors being changed. He told me that the "Total price" would be $329 taking out labor charge of oil change and also tires switch. I asked three times and also my father heard as well. And he repeated the price three times. I give a go ahead and when I come back to pay they charged an extra $80 for the tire switch labor and lied to me. I notified about this and they said this is what they told me. Straight up lied to me with a straight face. Also when they switched the tires the old ones were smeared all over with oil which ruined my back seat when they threw it in and also they forgot to reset the maintenance sign as well. It was a basic "bait and switch". Never in my life was I this dissapointed. Never again. read more

We recently purchased for new tires from this place one month later it was a manufacture defect in the tire the seam was opening up on the inside When I brought the car to them they said sorry no warranty on these tires you'll have to get a new tire even though it was a manufacture defect not a warranty issue Really rude staff will never go there again for your own good read more

Brought to get a tire fixed, back tire wound up being flat after not even replacing it and that's not how we dropped it off, and they ripped off a letter on steering wheel, it was a maybach, our fault for choosing such a bad rated place to change tires, you get what you pay for, enjoy getting your car returned to you in horrible condition. We've been to Other Mavis, and they were great, this location was extremely unprofessional, and quite frankly week, did a horrible job. They returned our car to us in worse condition and the flat tire. You only have one job, it's tires, and you somehow decided to ruin one of our tires, not sure how you're still in business read more

Don't bother, whilst it is now under new management, these guys don't have their act together. Went in to schedule appointment for 4 new tires, which was very easy. The problem was that I scheduled for the first appointment at 8am, but my car did not go in until 9:30am, a little slow but that's only the start of the problem. Got a call at 10am informing me that they did not have the tires I ordered. Their inventory is a mess, they are completely disorganized and the excuse was that it was the managers first day. I will never go back here or any other Mavis store, luckily there is still other quality shops around. My advice, steer clear and find somewhere else to go. read more

Came in with a break problem. Misdiagnosed as a tire problem. And aligned problem 3 1500 later. And 3 trips back to the shop Problem Not resolve. Brought to my regular mechanic found the problem all along was my from Break Caliper. Fixed for $500. Mavis should be expecting a bill and a law suit. read more

Took my wife's 2011 BMW in for an allignment after changing front left tire. Had previously changed the front left tire but didn't do allignment then due to it being a Sunday and we were running errands. Needless to say after the first tire change car was pulling to the right. When we took it back for a wheel alignment they said tie rods need to be changed .. 800$ later, car was still not aligned. Removed charge for the allignment next day rear left wheel was arching in. Took it back and they said not our fault too bad. Took to my mechanic, he asked who did this crap job? Enough said . read more

I showed up with a flat tire and needed a wheel they did not have in stock. Sid and Oscar called around to try to help us out and find us a place that would be able to assist as we had a 3 hour drive ahead of us. Avoid them. I never write reviews but they were a bait and switch nightmare. I came with a flat tire. The guy gave me a quote and had to order the tire. Next day different guy starts "up selling" me another $1000+ of additional costs including insisting I needed a second tire just to keep things balanced (never even looked at my new tire on the other side). Terrible business practices or tried to take advantage of a woman -in this day and age. Ugh. either way I drI've away. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I have literally never written a YELP review for anything. Called to get two tires replaced they quoted my $335+ tax-- seemed fine. Go back to get the car and the bill is $439.95+TAX. Added $70 for an alignment that was never discussed/ wasn't needed and a few other small charges. Looking at these reviews it seems like this is their common practice. Guys were extremely rude and shady as well; "You should have known" as if I'm a car expert. Will be filing a formal complaint with corporate office.---This was Closter, NJ--not sure why it says CA. read more
