I recently had a nail in one of my tires that required a simple removal and patch. I stopped by yesterday around 4 PM but was told they were too busy at the time. I understood and made an appointment to return today at 4 PM, as the tire was only slowly losing air. When I came back as scheduled, I left my car with the expectation that it would be completed within about an hour, as advised. Unfortunately, even after waiting, the service had not yet been started. While I was prepared to accept the quoted price of $46 plus tax for the repair, I did expect that the work would be completed within the promised timeframe. Given the delay and lack of follow-through, I've decided to take my car elsewhere--likely to Norwood BP Gas Station, where I had a similar repair done efficiently for $15 just last month. The staff were courteous and pleasant, which I do appreciate. However, based on this experience, I don't think I would choose to return in the future. read more

I dropped my car off on time for an appointment to get 1 tire replaced. I called exactly 3 hours later to get an update when no one followed up. I was told nothing was done as they couldn't mount the new tire because it arrived defective, Not sure if that's true or not but I was also told that making an appt didn't really matter because they only use the appt to order the tire. I left with the spare and declined all the work. I was not charged, not that I would have paid anyway. If you go on a Saturday just be prepared to have your car gone for the entire day. read more

Joe who is the manager was extra helpful and empathetic. He did not "upsell" me which would have been easy given my circumstances. oddly, I've told myself many times, I should never go back to Mavis in Closter, but this is the last time. I'll never go back. Today, I simply wanted to swap 4 tires from one set of wheels to another, tires are a year old and I wanted them on a different set of wheels. I was told quite clearly, twice, unless the tires are brand new with the stickers still on them, they cannot dismount them and install them on a different set of wheels. The previous time, my wife's SUV, just installing new winter tires onto winter wheels, they told me the brake pads were down to dangerous level and the rear shocks were leaking. Neither of these were true. The brake pads have beveled edges so they appeared thin, but upon closer inspection, they had only slight wear compared to the new pads I installed. And, the shocks had no problems. I'll never go back, they should be ashamed of how they run their business. Bring back Closter Motors. read more

I called and was able to come in the same day for a metal shard in the tire of my new electric SUV. The guys handled my car with great care and were able to remove the shard and thankfully plug the tire. I was very happy with the service, care, and price of the fix. Took my Tesla to repair a tire that keeps deflating , paid over $300 for repair, had to take it back 3 times cause the problem was not fixed! Also, months ago took it to rotate tires, I was told by the "manager" that my front and back tires were different so count be rotated, when I called Tesla , I was told that "Yes" you rotate them left to right, I wonder what kind of service this location is providing?! very upsetting! UPDATE, went today for the 4th time to fix the same issue with the same tire that was supposed to be repaired, no they told me is not able to get fixed and I need to purchase a new tire! incredible. Called to see wait time on a wheel balance and alignment. The individual answering the phone stated 1-1.5 hours for the service to complete and there was space for me to come right away. After waiting for 2 hours, my car was driven onto the alignment machine. On the 3rd hour I was getting frustrated and asked for an eta and the service manager checks with the guy and he said it'll be finished in 15 mins. After the job was completed, I drive home less than 2 miles from the shop. I find the wheel weights on the right side of my vehicle coming off. Never will I be going to this shop. read more

Absolutely horrible... I never complain.... I have been going to Mavis all my life to get my car oil change and fixes. Usually I go to west Nyack NY but I tried closter NJ. The person on the phone lied to me about the total price. Initially wanted only oil change but told me about back breaks and rotors being changed. He told me that the "Total price" would be $329 taking out labor charge of oil change and also tires switch. I asked three times and also my father heard as well. And he repeated the price three times. I give a go ahead and when I come back to pay they charged an extra $80 for the tire switch labor and lied to me. I notified about this and they said this is what they told me. Straight up lied to me with a straight face. Also when they switched the tires the old ones were smeared all over with oil which ruined my back seat when they threw it in and also they forgot to reset the maintenance sign as well. Brought to get a tire fixed, back tire wound up being flat after not even replacing it and that's not how we dropped it off, and they ripped off a letter on steering wheel, it was a maybach, our fault for choosing such a bad rated place to change tires, you get what you pay for, enjoy getting your car returned to you in horrible condition. We've been to Other Mavis, and they were great, this location was extremely unprofessional, and quite frankly week, did a horrible job. Don't bother, whilst it is now under new management, these guys don't have their act together. Went in to schedule appointment for 4 new tires, which was very easy. The problem was that I scheduled for the first appointment at 8am, but my car did not go in until 9:30am, a little slow but that's only the start of the problem. Got a call at 10am informing me that they did not have the tires I ordered. Their inventory is a mess, they are completely disorganized and the excuse was that it was the managers first day. Took my wife's 2011 BMW in for an allignment after changing front left tire. Had previously changed the front left tire but didn't do allignment then due to it being a Sunday and we were running errands. Needless to say after the first tire change car was pulling to the right. When we took it back for a wheel alignment they said tie rods need to be changed .. 800$ later, car was still not aligned. I had a slow leak in one of my tires and the Mavis Tire shop in Closter was one of the few that had time to look over my tire. They also showed me where the problem was and because it couldn't be repaired where the leak was located, were able to procure a matching tire for my car. All done in the same day - within 4 hrs. Sid and Oscar called around to try to help us out and find us a place that would be able to assist as we had a 3 hour drive ahead of us.
