I accidentally went to the wrong Mavis Discount Tire location on Sunrise Highway after already speaking with another Mavis that had given me a quote over the phone. Instead of being honest, the staff tried to act like they were the location I originally spoke to and attempted to charge me significantly more. The whole interaction felt misleading and dishonest. I ended up leaving and going to the correct location, where they honored the original pricing and treated me professionally. The assistant manager the Afro American one was professional and helpful the other one was loud and cursing. When I arrived he was talking to someone online about personal stuff cursing a lot and they have a female in here but even if there wasn't that's not professional. The service was good I came in for one tire they changed 3 and gave me a discount. I wanted run flats but he explained the price of $1600 and said it wasn't worth it so I end up paying $689 for tires all season said I'm better off I got good value for my money. read more

I don't like to leave reviews but this needs to be said. The man behind the counter with the mustache and dark brown hair to take a course in customer service. The first time I came here, he was eating a bag of potato chips while helping customers. There were chips all over his mouth, and as he was talking, the chips were literally flying out. There is no point of even making an appointment at this place. The mechanics literally bullshit with each other the whole time instead of working on the cars in the bay. I previously thought this place was 5 star but the customer service has went down hill. I bought a tire from here a week ago and was told it was a great tire for the deal. Two days later I got a flat tire on the brand new tire. I went back to Mavis and was accused of hitting a pothole and Tony was dismissive and not at all helpful regarding the situation. He offered no solution other than "no insurance you have to buy another tire" he didn't even make eye contact with me. I will buy another tire but it definitely won't be from this place. I brought my car down for a standard oil change, inspection and check up. Unfortunately I did not do much driving that day, but the next day I put the car in reverse heard the tire rubbing on something. Looked under the car and could not seen anything. Originally thought it might have been a skid plate under the car from when they did the oil change, but nothing! How ever to my surprise a friend of mine looked under the car and discovered they had dented the frame of my car. They put the arms of the back to close to the wheel well and jacked the car up and bent the frame. At this point I call the back the location to deal with an owner who denied that could not have happen at their branch, then insinuated I hit a curb. It took two phone calls to the corporate office. I eventually paid another company to straighten out the frame issue. It was not until I got a guy who just had the attitude of what ever, didn't ask for the bill and just mailed a check openly admitting he's covering for someone and does not really care and non apologetic about it! Considering the car was damaged on something that people in their shop must do 100 times a day, its scary and always seems to make me wonder if they cannot handle the most basic elementary of task, what are they doing on the things I cannot see visually. I would not recommend them for future work nor will I be using any of their branches for future work! read more

Poor price points for tire work, returned home after getting two front tires replaced to find a hub cap was missing. I discovered it when I got home, it probably fell off on the way because it was not properly reinstalled. When I asked the store owner about replacing the part, he put the task on me, saying he would compensate me "within reason" for me to go to a junk yard to find the part. I read the other 1 star reviews and decided to give this place a shot anyways because it's very close to home, small mistake on my end, will not be returning with any other vehicles in the future. Call in to mavis call center before you go in. Luckily, I called before hand. This tall guy in here at the front desk was helping me. Told him i talked to someone named anthony over the phone, he said no one by that name works there, cool. I asked him if he had the tires I asked anthony for over the phone. He said no we only have the 109 a tire each, quoted me over 290, anthony quoted me around 250$. When i called back and confirmed my appointment, I walked back in and let him know to just look me up. Wow, magically, you have the tires I asked you for originally. Idk if you guys get commission for the tires you sell or what. Last time I ever buy a tire from a big brand store. LITERALLY HORRIBLE SERVICE. As a young woman needing work on her car, I feel taken advantage of. I came in to get a NY State inspection and I was told they were just waiting on one brake light piece to come in and they'd be able to do the inspection then. I was told it would only take 15 minutes the next time I came in... THAT WAS A COMPLETE LIE. I came back a couple days later and he told me he'd have my car done by the afternoon which completely messed up my entire schedule for the day because I did not plan for that time frame as he told me it would only be 15 minutes later. I told him I'd come back another day and instantly he made time to "work on my car" I ended up paying another $300 and got no car inspection.. I AM LIVID AND WANT MY MONEY BACK. Amazing experience....Amazing staff.... Back in June I brought my truck to another Mavis location to have brakes and rotors done I ended up leaving with more issues with my truck then I originally came in with. So I made the choice to bring my truck to a new location (Bayshore) and upon arrival I spoke with the store manager Eric and explained the whole situation and immediately without any questions made a ticket and got my truck right in and his mechanic looking over the truck right away. After looking over the truck they found an issue in which they replaced some parts and sent me on my way unfortunately I had to come back in several times after cause of my truck continuing to have some issues that were concerning to me and each and every time I went in and spoke with Eric and his staff they never got upset but instead very apologetic insisting on finding out what's the problem and doing whatever they could in fixing it. I took my car for basic maintenance as oil change, alignment and balance. I drive a car with a clear cloth interior and their return me the car all stained with grease and when I open the hood, I saw oil all over. Now I have to pay to clean the interior. Absolutely the worst possible place to get any work on your car done... For a simple appointment with getting my tires changed and an alignment it took three and a half hours. On top of that the managers constantly try to rip you off by trying to change random parts on your car to add up. Overall a horrible experience when you see workers just lallygagging and managers ripping you off for every nickel and dime... I paid 613 dollars for off brand tires and an alignment where I could've went anywhere else and saved 250 dollars with name brand tires that last longer and 3 hours. Steer clear of this MAVIS. I have gone there for years, this time I was not prepared to be ripped off and swindled. April 24 I took my car in to have a tire replaced because of a bubble in the tire. I asked him to replace it with the same tire since it was there that I purchased the last four tires I had on the car. He also pointed out that the rear tire is wearing down along the edge and will need to be replaced soon (no treads showing). So when I asked how much are we talking he said that the only tire that they had in stock that was my size is Good Year @$100.00 each. I later discovered that would be after a rebate that is in this weeks flyer. While he was writing this all up I Googled PEPBOYS just minutes away that has a sale 4 tires for $291. He said that he would match their price without mentioning plus $35.00 to have each tire installed. They noticed that I needed ball baron joints on the passenger side. I recently had the driver side done. We agreed on a price. Twice I asked about an alignment he said yes we will put it on the rack and align the tires. Three and a half hours later he said my car was ready. I had to drive 25 miles East and 25 miles back home. Along the way my car was bumping up and down. I then took my hand off of steering wheel and my car began to pull left. After calling customer service they said bring it back I sad no I'll go to a different Mavis that told me that an alignment was never done. And did it since my receipt shows that I. Was charged and paid for. Yesterday I noticed one of my tires had a flat and also noticed that the tires were not Good Year but Achilles. Great bunch of guys over there. Get my oil changed here every time it's due. They'll bring you in to the garage to show you a problem, but only if that problem will really affect your driving. They don't oversell and only recommend necessary fixes. They work quick and the lobby is comfortable while you wait. read more

Unreal what kind of rip off there people can be.. i was getting 2 tires replaced and decided to get a inspection done here for convenience, even though I am aware of the reputation.. they come to me and start telling me I need this and that and it will cost me a few hundred more. They told me that I needed a belt which was perfecty fine. I was told that they won't pass the visual inspection without replacing it. I was not going to just be upsold for the sake of it. I refused. My regular mechanic (who I should of went to) looked at the car and confirmed it was fine. And when I said no they still charged me for the inspection The mechanic who was working on the car was still doing the inspection.. i said to him to close the car up and let's go.. he started cursing at me and ranting and raving. He got in my face. The manager then pulled me aside and said you won't have a issue with him.. you now have a issue with me in a very threatening tone it turned out to a big scene..last I checked I was still the customer. One of the worst experiences I have had in a long time.All this place does it try to tack on services to drive a average ticket price up. My advice is to stay away from this and ones like. Bring it to a mechanic who does not work on a commission type system. I also ordered the tires I was getting in advance. Did not use their services. I needed to pull into a station asap - I had a flat tire and Mavis in Bay Shore was right there. I was told tire had a hole in it and could be repaired. Fifteen minutes later - all done for an unfair and unjust price of $35.00! Did prices go up to fix a flat? This place is terrible they have absolutely no idea on customer service you make an appointment they tell you to come in you tell him that you have to stay with your car they tell you it'll be 1 hour. Well this is my last attempt with getting any of my vehicles aligned by this store. This was three vehicles out of three and this time I explained that the vehicle has to be test driven to make sure there was no pulling. They blamed the pull on my new tires even though I purchased the tires from them, I explained that the old tires had the same issue and it wasn't the tires.they advised me that I had to bring it back to the dealer and only they could figure it out. I spoke to the service writer who worked this past Sunday and stated I would take it to another shop that I was aware of that had a reputation for doing great alignment work. He understood and asked that I get back to him with what they found. Well I called mavis back today because the van was successfully aligned and the pull was gone. I explained what the other shop did to repair it and that the vehicle was now aligned, but I had to pay the other shop for their alignment and that I should have received a refund from mavis because they had diagnosed it wrong and couldn't fix it. I was told I should have brought the vehicle back to them for the alignment after the repair was done by the other shop because it was under warranty for that, my time is valuable just like theirs, should I risk bringing my van back to mavis for the fourth time for an alignment or just let the shop who found the problem take care of it. Their mechanics have very limited experience and they do not have a senior mechanic for the apprentices to look towards when they have a problem. They are open on weekends which makes them convenient but not for alignments or possible other diagnostic work. Tires,oil changes and inspections. Keep it simple for them, nothing heavier than that. read more

Steer clear away from this Mavis in fact most of them do not know what the freak they are doing with the exception of the LIndenhurst shop on montauk Hwy. They were the only shop to correctly diagnose my problem and direct me to the shop that had my tire. I was told by this shop in bayshore that my rim had some dings in it and they claimed they temporarily did something to it and to keep my eye on it well after leaving they told me that the TPMS warning light would reset after I drive it for awhile. Which i knew right away is total crap. Came back next day told them look this light is not going away they insisted that their little diagnosis machine says to put the parking break on wait 20 minutes then drive it above 16 miles an hour. Where do they find these mechanics from the probation department community service dpeartment or what. I went to the lindenurst shop on montauk Hwy and they found that the tire which i riginally purchased from another fine branch of this establishment had a bad spot on it and was leaking air slowly and my rim is fine. I am so turned off from this company I have had nothing but bad experiences every time Ive gone to any mavis. They employ people that seem to be on animal tranquilzers move slower than former president ronald regan doing the humpty dance. I will go anywhere but i will never in my life step foot into this incompetant establishment,**********Update********** When I was at this location last time I also had my left signal light replaced in the front. Well only 3 weeks later and guess what same exact bulb is out. They really are incompetant. I still have free coupons for money off on any work done at mavis cause I complained a long time ago and was comped by the general manager. But really being comped by this place with coupons is like getting poison to drink from your worst enemy. I can only use the coupons at mavis and they do horrible work and make you wait 3 hours on top of that. I have two coupons left and it better be enough to fix that dam left signal light in fact they shouldn't even take my coupon or my money they best do it for free. I have been going to Mavis in Bayshore for well over ten years. Recently, I began to experience a loud knocking/grinding noise from the right side of my vehicle. A friend suggested that I try a local repair shop which he highly recommended. He assured me that they would accurately diagnose my problem and save me a tremendous amount of money in comparison to other shops. I took his advice and gave it a shot. The local repair shop informed me that my ball joints were bad and would have to be replaced for roughly twelve hundred dollars. Feeling uncomfortable about this assessment and at the behest of my wife, yes I said it my wife, I decided to go back to Mavis for a second opinion. In the interim, I researched the subject myself and was prepared for a host of issues which would surely be very expensive to fix. When I arrived at Mavis I was prepared for the worst. After about an hour or two the technician advised that my sway bar links needed to be tightened. As a long time customer the cost for me was ZERO dollars. Now understand this, they could have suggested repairing a litany of items related to my suspension and still made a few hundred dollars off me but they didn't. Honesty and Integrity are a rare quality for repair shops today. In my opinion, most shops look at a customer with a $500 icon on their head when they walk through the door. However, Mavis remains an Icon for what good service repair shops should be. This is the reason why I would highly recommend and continue to trust Mavis for all my automotive needs. read more
