It was definitely time to put winter tires on the parents summer car that doesn't usually hang out in Buffalo winters. They selected the tires that met the quality they wanted for their car and asked me to get them from a competitor of Mavis. When I called the competition they were out of that tire nationwide and wouldn't be restocked until sometime in December. Wondering if it was just them or everyone who was out of that tire, I called Mavis on Sheridan in Amherst by Walmart, and spoke to Joe. Joe in fact could get the tires for me within three days and made the appointment for them to be installed right then when I agreed to order them. I brought the car in and all the guys were really very nice including Joe, and got the car in right away. As soon as it was done I came to get it and was again treated very cheerfully even though we were all a bit glum about the Bills game. I would definitely do business with them again and recommend them. They have been very helpful on several occasions with things they saw us outside trying to fix. Left a review on google they hide it.. So my car was very shaky and I took the car to them I thought I needed new tires. I call before I went to the store they told me the tires were $89 each and when I get there the guy told me they were $130 for each. I still went it because I thought they know what they were doing ...long story short They charged me almost $1k for a problem they didn't know how to fix, took the car back to them because the problem was still occur. The guy told me I had to pay an extra $700. Call customer services & even the Coorporate office they didn't care the regional manager wouldn't speak to me. Took the car to Monro for a second opinion they told me the car has a timing chain issue they can't fix it and send me to the dealership. Monroe didn't charge me a penny compare to these scammers. I had to buy a new car because of their negligence. Don't go this place if you want to save yourself from being robbed. Next step is DMV Anyone who's being robbed by these Mavis report them to DMV. I took my vehicle here last year. Everything seemed great. I just called today to ask for an appointment to get a NYS inspection. I was provided 3 times for Saturday which didn't work. While replying that I'll have to push for next week because I have a wedding, this guy jumped in my sentence and said "not a problem, best of luck to you" and disconnected the call. I called back to speak to a manager and he took credit for having that title. When I questioned his lack of customer service he asked "what would you like me to do? You asked for availability and I gave it to you." I told him "push to next week" was his queue to let me know what their availability was for that. With that in mind, I'm a three vehicle household. They serviced two of the three last year and will never see another vehicle of mine again. If that's management, this place should be a ghost town because that meat head is the epitome of what everyone doesn't trust about mechanics. read more

On Feburaruy 20th I went to Mavis tires on Plesant Hill Rd, Duluth GA 30096. I told them I was having a problem with my back brakes. I specifically told them it was the back. I said I was have a grinding noise that wasnt constant but was coming from the back of the car only when I brake. The young lady said ok, they took the car back and fixed the issue without telling me what the problem was. When she came out to have me cash out, she told me that it wasnt my back brake it was my front and my back brakes was in good shape. They charge me for brakes and rotors. $446.85. I was kinda of suspicious about it because prior to covid breakout I had replace the front brake and rotor. I wasnt driving my car like that so I didnt think I needed front brakes. Also the sound was coming from the back. She assure me the backs brakes were good and it was the front. She also attempted to get to replace a bar underneath the car that would have cost 1400 to replace. I paid the transaction and left. A couple days after that the brakes started grinding again. I wasnt able to go back right away due to working alot of mandatory overtime week days and weeks so my schedule was tight. When I was able to come back I told another young lady what happen and she told me that the person who worked on brakes was on vacation and to come back within a week or so. I went back again on 6/12 and told the story again that I was still having a problem with the grinding, its coming from the back and I was in here 2 months ago, told them I was having a BACK brake problem but they told me it was the front and charged me $446.00 for front rotors and brakes. They looked at the car this time and confirmed it was the back brakes the whole time and told me that they didnt have anyone that knew how to do back brakes and it would cost another 450 to get fix. I told them I am not doing it. At that point it would have been me giving them $1000 for brakes when it was their mistake in the first place. I wish I could give them a negative star. Their ripping people off in a time of inflation where people dont have money to spare from getting F'ed over. read more

My car would not start when I was leaving work. I got it jumped and called Mavis to see when their next appointment was available ( mind you it was 3:45pm already ) . They said they would absolutely squeeze me in and they quickly assessed and fixed my car in no time. I also had an issue with my bumper , which they promptly took care of! The staff was very professional and pleasant ( not usually what you get in auto mechanics, lol) . They put the wrong speed rating on my car and when I called corporate office they said they would order the right ones and I would have to pay the difference well they never came in they said they didn't know when they were coming in and they took my money and would not return it I had to go somewhere Else and buy the proper tires. FYI: When rating a CORPORATE CAR SERVICE COMPANY such as this, Wait a day or two. Just sayin' My first initial rating was going to be closer to 4 stars if not for the ISSUES that arose AFTER I left. I was told to come in at 8:00 AM for a quick one hour 4 Tire Install. The young man who greeted me, Cory, was very polite and accommodating. He so politely escorted me around the desk to fill out a credit card application so I could take advantage of offers. And convinced me to take advantage of warranties and an alignment, which I happily agreed was a good idea and a reasonable price. I was catching good vibes at this point. BIG MISTAKE!! I can't help , but feel like bait once "CORPORATE " knew I was good for 2500.00 after the credit card approval. Fast forward to a phone call 1/2 way through installation of 4 tires , from Cory so politely letting me know that I needed BRAKES & SHOCKS. Naturally I had to agree to these purchases , after all this is for my daughter & I'm good for it. (Note to self: don't discuss personal info with strangers ESPECIALLY people paid to upsell.) $1400 from a quick $400 ish and ONE HOUR TURNED INTO OVER FOUR! But Cory got a ride home for me which is really nice. The Next Day: My daughter tries to get the car inspected and somehow necessary data was wiped out from the battery due to it being re-connected incorrectly and the car needs to be driven a 100 miles to reset info. I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE MECHANICS AT MAVIS TO LOOK AT MY BATTERY LET ALONE TOUCH IT!!! Oh did I Mention The cap for the battery was SITTING ON THE FRONT SEAT? And there's a line in the invoice stating "Tech Please Verify Battery Life" So that's my proof. My trusted mechanic at Carrerero's on Elmwood in Kenmore spotted the error and explained why he couldn't inspect it. Now he has the car in shop to fix a turn single/wiper issue. I can't prove that this next problem is Mavis's fault. The way this company can make it right , is to reimburse me for any warranties and cancel them out , so I don't have to come back for any reason. PS I will say positively that the car seems to be driving really well with the new tires, shocks, & brakes. I'm happy about that part of the service. read more

First off poor hours during winter time... Second I called yesterday to see if I could schedule an appointment for some tires I found on their website...I called at 5:45...They close at 6pm....The guy, duane, I think told me they only had one in stock, and he would have to call distributor to see if he could get more but that he couldn't make the call that night...He said he would do it the next day (today), and call me back....I said that would be fine.....I told him I work nights and please to just leave a message on my phone as I would be sleeping during the day.....Well I woke up and there was no missed call and obviously no message from him..... So today I thought I would call another Mavis...This one over on Union Rd...Brandon I believe answered the phone tonight...Same thing...5:45pm....6pm close...Only one tire in stock...he has to call distributor but not tonight...He told me I would have to call back tomorrow.... EDIT: I ended up going to another tire place - Mr.Tire who have treated me goodon several occasions (Main St - Buffalo). SIDE NOTE: I remember about a year ago I called to schedule a tire rotation at Mavis on Union Rd....I called ahead so I would not have to wait....The tire rotation took like an hour...Unacceptable...I am done with Mavis, and I will only use them as a price match........ You really have to wonder sometimes how business stay alive out there, and how some have no clue when it comes to customer service. read more

The appointment didn't start out going well, as I was told making appointments really won't get you in at that time. I was told an hour or more until I get in. Ended up getting in within 30 min,. ( believe it was because I questioned why people make appointments,, which creates an expectation.). They did try to sell me rotors which I may need but can do myself. Cost went from about 200$ to 87$ total. I was extremely mad after being told making an appointment really didn't do anything for you, but after watching how busy and stressful the guys job was, it worked out okay and I felt for him. Suddenly the appointment issue really didn't matter. Well kind of from a business standpoint. Second part to the appointment issue. I made a brake appointment but they didn't have my brakes on hand. They orders them which took another 30min to get. If I lived around the area, I wouldn't bring my car here, but was easy while on vacation for a quick brake job. So I had written this review and gave it 3 stars. Knocked it down when his technician came in and asked if the pads were ordered. Ashli said they should be in. I went and asked if the pads were here yet? He said oh ya. They are on, he just needs 5-10 min to put the tires on. I proceeded to watch the mechanic find the brakes and start to put them on. They are as honest as the day is long. I hit some debris on I-290 and was sure that my tire was ruined. Rather than selling me 4 new tires (which I was willing to buy) because they did not carry the tire brand that I had on my car, they tried to find another tire store that could help me out. Ultimately they examined the damaged tire, and determined that the rim was bent but the tire was fixable. Then they fixed the rim, reinstalled the tire and wouldn't take any payment for their efforts. Other tire stores would have taken advantage of my situation to make a quick buck, but they did not. When I really do need new tires I will definitely go back to this store, and I will recommend them to all of my friends. read more

Made an appointment on line, since my car ended up with 2 flat-ish tires and after 3 hours my dealership couldn't repair or replace them. They called in the AM to confirm, I called back to make sure the tires I ordered online were in stock and slightly change my appointment time. Th ry were very accommodating. Came in and was upsold an alignment, but it was a decent price, and since I have a Prius, I wanted to make sure I was getting the best mileage possible. They took my car in and had it up on the rack within 10 minutes of arrival. In at 1:40 PM. Done at 2:51. 4 brand new tires and alignment: $388, including $5 insurance per tire to cover nails, etc. My dealership quoted me $260 for 2 tires, not including labor. read more

I got two different opinions from an official VW dealership and Firestone about a noise. Mavis figured out it was my left bearing and axle which is what I thought it was. They fixed it right away. Waived the labor for the axle since they were fixing the bearing already. Corey even gave me free wiper blades and installed them and even balanced my tires for free. There was Netflix to watch while I was waiting. Unlike Firestone, no one kept suggesting I go do something else instead of waiting in the shop. Great service! Reasonable prices. read more

I've been coming here for at least 4 years every winter to and spring to switch my tires- never had a complain until yesterday. I chose to have them check out my brakes instead of my regular mechanic because they were located closer to where I work for convenience. I just had my front brakes serviced about a year ago and knew my back brakes may have needed some work. They quoted me for $1145 and basically said I needed everything replaced (red flag). I declined the service and they did let me take my car back with no charge. Took it to my regular trustworthy mechanic and they inspected everything thoroughly only to tell me that my brakes were still good and noise was probably from some brake dust. I've never experienced an issue here, until today. I called before I arrived and told whoever answered that I had a few questions about my tire and I needed it to be looked at to see if I needed a new one or just a fix. The man on the phone told me to come in, sent me an email and I was on the way. When I arrived, Dylan was at the counter and I was told I was at the wrong location, he had an hour to an hour an a half wait & that I needed to go up the road to the other location. I was confused, since I've only ever gone to this location. I showed him the email I received with that address and the number I called and he told me I talked to a call center in California. As I pulled off, I called the location again and the same gentleman that answered before answered again. I informed him of what happened & he told me to come back. When I returned I was taken in in nearly 10 minutes and was never given an apology by Dylan. He said "they don't give me all the information I need to be successful." He then told me he could only sell me 4 tires, not just 2. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a woman, or Black or both, but this experience was so unnecessary and really gave a bad taste in my mouth since I've had nothing but good experiences otherwise. read more

I had a slow leak in a tire that had recently purchased at Dunn Tire, when I tried to get an appointment on Saturday I was told I would have to wait til 11 on Monday morning for an appointment. I brought my vehicle to this shop hoping to finally get a solution to the constant issues I have been having with my brakes that were originally installed at a different Mavis location. Since the initial install (new pads, rotors, and calipers), I have had two calipers seize. My brakes began to smoke while driving in both cases. The first one happened under 5,000 miles and they replaced under warranty, but the second happened about 6,000 miles after original install and they charged me for this replacement (it was just outside of warranty). Now my vehicle is still under 10,000 miles from initial install and they are continuing to stick and now a slight squealing noise can be heard. When I brought it into this location they informed me that I need all new brakes. I visually inspected the brakes and they have deep grooves in the rotors. They want me to pay to replace all of my brakes even though they are under 10,000 miles and claimed it is because I don't 'wash' my brakes. I have never heard of this and when I questioned the reasoning, both the mechanic and 'manager' got irate and then told me to leave the shop and that they wouldn't fix the issue. After about 5 trips to Mavis, I still have faulty brakes and I am afraid to drive my vehicle on the highway. The manager is unbelievably unprofessional and told me multiple lies throughout the entire encounter. He proceeded to call me rude and ignorant when I just wanted answers to why a brand new set of brakes would fail in less than 10,000 miles. I never became irate and I just simply wanted answers. EDIT: After being contacted by a regional manager at Mavis, he directed me to take my vehicle to another shop and have them complete the work. They fixed all issues and returned my vehicle. While it is disappointing that I had to return multiple times, I have to give a lot of credit to Mavis for making sure that all issues were resolved. In the end, my vehicle is fixed and Mavis did a very good job in finally solving the problem. FINAL EDIT: I had to make one final edit. The first drive I took with my vehicle, the brakes locked up and the rotor got red hot with a strong burning smell. I finally caved and brought it to an actual mechanic who explained to me what was wrong. The e-brake that they originally installed was done incorrectly and remained engaged during the entire drive. This likely caused the calipers to keep failing and seizing. I had to spend an additional $1500 to finally get my car safe to drive. Mavis left me with an unsafe car. I believe the reason they didn't give me any paperwork on my final visit was because they knew it wasn't actually fixed. DON'T GO TO MAVIS. They cut corners and use inexperienced mechanics to save costs. In the end I had to pay more than if I would have just went to a capable mechanic in the first place. They created an unsafe driving experience and damaged my vehicle. AVOID MAVIS!! read more

When I got there they told me they don't do inspection on mon or Fri the guys there but he doesn't do inspections I showed him my confirmation. He didnt care! I said make me an appointment for tue he said you dont need one he'll be here znd do it. So I came back on Tuesday and was told he didnt have time come back wed.
