We inherited a one of a kind antique clock. It's been in the family for over 50 years. JR and Maven Moving were referred to us as a solid choice. JR assured us he had 23 years of moving/packing knowhow and that we were in good hands. Unfortunately, not the case at all. To send a clock one must create a crate (a wooden exterior) which is the only reason he got a single star. Nicely done. The interior though only had cheap corrugated and some roll padding, not nearly enough void fill. I'm convinced that JR and Maven Moving was trying to save a buck or two and save $$ on packaging materials. Upon opening our package to view our treasured clock, found the gold leaf glass smashed, cabinet cracked and generally beat to hell. Sickening. JR is clearly a coward and ghosted me until his wife took over and sent some texts after numerous attempts to rouse them. We asked for a detailed list of packing items, shipping, materials, time spent. To date, JR has not provided a scrap of paperwork. No details, poor communication. We asked if they were insured and bonded. no response. We asked if they filed a claim with UPS (as the sender files in case of damage), no response. Our real estate agent recommended Maven Moving to us and I am sure thankful that she did. Wow, I watched J.R. the owner literally move like he was getting ready to compete in the Olympics. He was very careful with our walls, furniture and appliances. Not one single thing was damaged in any way. He charges by the hour and trust me when I say not one single moment was wasted. I appreciate his dedication, professionalism and the can do anything you need attitude. He helped my husband put together a few beds like it was nothing. Yes, my husband can do that himself, but you can tell that J.R. does this on a regular basis and it was like lightning speed. I highly recommend this company for your moving needs. I was referred to this place by another moving co. I'll keep the particulars quiet. The guy was really very nice when we spoke. He was willing to assist me with my unload on a Sunday, a bit pricey but I wanted to get it done. I knew after being on the road most of the day driving a truck I would be tired. Besides I had to work on Monday tired or not. So it was critical to get it over with. I tried getting a friend & a neighbor to help but both had plans to be out of town with family. Seriously my loss. I texted him to let him know that I would need him on Sunday. I asked that he confirm we were good for Sunday & pricing. He never responded that day. I went to get my things from another state, the next day, got stood up by the movers there, finally someone showed to help finish what I'd done 99% of alone, got back on the road & headed back to UT. All day I didn't hear anything from him while I was on the road. So I figured I was once again being stood up. I went directly to Plan B because I don't mess around. I needed to get that expensive storage space closed & get my things in the same state with me. If I had to do it myself so be it! I got to my storage early AM the next day in UT. There were 7 people there moving out of a space. They offered to help, I wasn't going to say no! They refused to take any $$ for helping. I repeatedly tried, they said no each time. Wow, you don't meet people like that everyday. At that point I had no 1 guaranteed to assist, so we knocked it out in 10 mins. I went to my apartment with the rest & unloaded the truck myself. My phone was accidentally on silent from being tired the night before driving from CA to UT alone in a dark truck cab. I couldn't see when I was making a call, or take my eyes off the road too much, I accidentally put it on airplane mode & silent. So I had no idea it was on because the next day my phone stayed locked in the truck & my apartment. I wasn't expecting anyone to contact me so I moved on. Later that day I saw that I had voice mails & texts. I checked them & 1 was from this co. They wanted to come by but it was too late. I was done by 12 PM. Since no 1 communicated with me in advance to let me know we were a go, I found another way to get it done. The really sad thing is this guy is super nice. However, the communication or lack there of leaves a lot to be desired. I'm a planner. I don't do things last minute nor assume anything. That's a dangerous game because you'll get surprised & disappointed every time. With a major interstate move, you need to have your i's dotted & T's crossed. 1 thing goes wrong & everything goes to pot from there like dominoes. I don't do anything without planning first. I would recommend him which is why I didn't give him 1 star like I did some others. However, he needs to improve on the communication skills. If someone asks you to "confirm" do it within 24 hours, not 72! I don't trust UT movers, they're on a different plane than I am, I'm from CA so we don't mess around when it comes to getting things done or business. That's something I suspect the nice people in UT will find out very quickly. The only thing I can say is I hope they don't end up hating us because we don't operate on the "tomorrow" plan. Maven Movers absolutely rocks it when they move you. Very competitive pricing. They were on time and moved us quickly. Not a single thing was broken or damaged upon arrival at our new home. You'd go along way to find a better moving company for a long distance or short distance move. Thank you JR for helping us twice now. read more
