The price was comparable to other companies in fact lower than some other companies I would definitely recommend them and in fact use them again.

When the insurance adjuster came to review the claim, Collingwood was there to make sure the claim covered the repairs. When they opened the roof, rafter damage was found. Again Collingwood worked with the insurance company for us. There was also some siding that needed replacing. Larry gave us some suggestions to use existing siding to replace the damaged area and add an accent along the bottom with Versetta Stone. The additional cost was well worth the investment to the curb appeal of our home. Many of our neighbors commented on how nice our house looked.

I met with Collingwood Construction, explained my problem, and asked if they would be willing to come to my home to give me an estimate. I was unsure of the scope of work and was quite upfront about that. I didn't know if I needed a complete lower roof or just a repair. They enthusiastically assured me that no job was too small and would be happy to give me an estimate. After the home show someone called me to set up the appointment. Good start in my book. They then followed up with a letter confirming my appointment, provided information regarding the services they offered, and even provided references. Great. This is where things got a little funky... A few days prior to the appointment I received a call from a woman confirming the appointment and then asked if my husband would be present. Um, what? Yes, she asked if my husband would be present. Had the shoe been on the other foot and a man set up the appointment would they ask if his wife would be present? I doubt it. I informed the woman that my husband would be out of town, I owned the home, and the title and mortgage was only in my name. Why would I need my husband present? She backpedaled a little and said it was helpful to have everyone on the same page. I assured her he trusted me completely to make the decisions and as a real estate broker I know more about homes, structures, and repairs than he did. She said that was fine and that we were all set for our upcoming appointment. The day of the appointment, about an hour and a half prior, I received a call asking if I was going to be home for the estimate. I said "yes". I actually had to rearrange my schedule and turn away an appointment to make sure I had enough time dedicated for the estimate. Then the man on the phone asked me to describe the roof problem again. I, again, relayed the issues we had been having. He mentioned he remembered me from the home show and even remembered I was a real estate broker. He then said it did not sound like a very big job, they were really busy, East Aurora was far away from Getzville (where they are located) and that he was not going to show up for the estimate. He then said goodbye and hung up. I was shocked. I can't imagine treating any potential client like this. What's more is if you didn't want the work you could have cancelled any time within the two weeks prior when we scheduled. I have to wonder if the fact my husband was not present weighed into his decision to not show up. Being in real estate I refer a lot of work to contractors, roofers, etc. I've not had the best feedback from my clients with regards to roofers recently which is why I was at the home show hoping to connect with a couple new ones I could refer. I would NEVER recommend this company for any work, EVER. They were dismissive to me as a woman and completely disrespectful of my time. Avoid this company.

The problem to be aware of...10 Year Warrenty from gutters leaking, the owner Nick doesn't HONOR without giving reasons to correct an issue without charging you for additional services or equipment to correct their work. I called to address a problem on my flat roof in May, 2026. Gutter King receptionist said she would share with owner Nick, I was put on hold. When she returned, she said I didn't pay for extender drip edges for that area on my roof. If they are the king experts for gutter installation, why wasn't this addressed at installation. The other excuse they provided to collect more money from honoring their warranty, is getting my gutter cleaned by them. My gutters are clean, they continue to provide excuses to collect more money without directly honoring their 10 Warrenty. I have called five times to address this issue politely, each time told the owner, Nick, will get back to me, it's NOW been four weeks, since my last call, June, 2026. What a disappointment and poor customer service to honor their warranty. I expected so much more from Nick and his company. My flat roof issue to date still hasn't been resolved by GUTTER KING OWNER NICK.

I called Gutter King, left a message around 6:00p and had a return call first thing the next morning. Later that day, I had someone at my house giving me an estimate. I accepted the bid and they scheduled appointment for the next day(usually I am told it's within a week, but we are currently in the off season). The workers arrived on time and got right to work. Within 2 hours they had my old gutters down, the new ones up and the site cleaned up. The gutters look great, come with a 10 year workmanship warranty and an even longer warranty on the materials. Even though it was a little more expensive than I would have liked, I would use them again in the future or recommend them to someone else.

Part of the delay was definitely weather (thankfully the leak was minor), but there was poor communication through that process requiring multiple follow ups on my end so I could have an understanding of progress. The initial estimated time had been 3 weeks (seemed optimistic to me). Two months is obviously a bit of a difference and more than I was expecting, even with weather. Holidays probably came into play, but no communication. Promised communications didn't happen, consistently. I have sympathy due to the weather but the lack of a communication/follow up on promises is a negative mark. Estimate: onsite estimate service was friendly, helpful, and solution oriented. This won me over vs other companies that were "do the minimum" and some just knocked and then left without talking with one that even failed to send an estimate. Pricing was similar to the competitors that responded and sent me a quote. Amherst was only a couple hundred higher. I was willing to pay slightly more based on the positive estimate experience and reviews, but I question the wisdom of that now. Onsite: One of the workers peed on the snow in my back yard. I don't know why they didn't ask for the bathroom, but dude... gross. Don't worry, I didn't photograph. I know people gotta go, been there, but I have a bathroom. Also, my garage door was slightly opened about 6"(currently it's busted because a cable jumped the spool and so it requires work to open and gets stuck unless you work it). It's been closed for days waiting for a warmer/dryer period for me to spend a couple of hours attempting to fix. This makes me suspect the worker who peed in my yard also attempted to access my garage, but my camera didn't capture it so I'm uncertain. Not sure why else it'd be open on the day they did work. It was closed before. Thankfully opening all the way would have made a huge screeching racket, so while I haven't checked I suspect nothing was stolen. They needed a spot for a large dumpster placed in my driveway and cars to be removed. Just heads up that they'll want a dumpster as close to the roof as possible. Colors were slightly different from initial conversations (trim was supposed to be black (based on remembered verbal conversation) but were white. Roof tiles were green and the fact they were a very different green wasn't brought up until installation day. I appreciated it being pointed out but I was a little annoyed it wasn't mentioned on the front end. Cleanup: I didn't understand why reviewers posted about the "good cleanup" jobs of contractors. Oh boy do I understand now. We found 16 nails in our drive way in just five minutes of looking in a 10'x10' space. (Checking this morning: Our deck has nails and in our neighbors driveway I found 4 nails.) Thankfully we still had daylight to check our driveway before parking our cars as I'm pretty sure we'd have lost at least one tire. I'm extremely unhappy about this as magnets exist and can be used to sweep for nails or metal detectors can be used. Those methods would both be cheaper than me replacing my tires and I'd absolutely be looking for reimbursement. Also nails on my wife's office front steps that she didn't notice last night but were twisted and could have caused harm. I've only had a couple positive experiences with Buffalo contractors and I'm not sure if this is a sign of the times or specific to Buffalo. Before COVID when I lived in other states/cities my experiences were significantly better with contractors. Now it feels like there's a bare minimum level of care to do a job well. Paying a little more doesn't seem to have gotten me a little more. Will I use again? Right now that feels unlikely but the other vendors seemed like they would be equally bad so I'd probably check Reddit/yelp for the most recent reviews as things change. At least, in theory, I have a lifetime warranty.

It went from the worst-looking house on the street to the very nicest! Jeremy was exceptional and always responded to questions and some changes I made. and helped me select the perfect colors and matching roof tile. I had a piece of siding come loose after a windstorm, and it was fixed without question. Mann Construction also repaired a window sash after the tenant used a window as a door to sneak someone into the house. Mann construction fixed it right away, and the charge was absolutely unbelievably inexpensive. Absolute professionalism and straight shooters.

He was able to determine that I did not have the appropriate roof system up (I have a low sloped roof) and gave me multiple options to fix it. Now I had several roofers say they woukd send me the quote and then they ghosted me. At this point I was sold and nothing was done to the roof yet. Needless to say, those problem areas are still leaking. I've found more leaks with this new roof than I had with the 20 year old roof from the new construction. I had them come out to "fix" the areas that were leaking and they were here less than 15 minutes. It leaked again after that so they came back and put a some caulk down on a few nails. I'm still finding leaks all over the roof. Absolute crap work.
