If I could give below zero stars I would. Ever since the new Vet took over and hired this new guy, this place has just been going down hill. Last week Monday I brought my one year old cat there, she wasn't eating and her face was swollen on one side. She was extremely dehydrated, she also was having a miscarriage, and we brought them the premature underdeveloped kitten to look at and do possible tests on if needed. He squeezed on her stomach to see if he could feel anything and at first he said he thought he felt something, then he went to examine her more and ended up squeezing a whole ton of urine out of her. He then turned to us and said that he wanted to do an x-ray and a blood draw on her to test her liver, because her urine was so dark he automatically assumed it was liver failure. They ended up squeezing over 200ml of urine out of her before the x-ray, they brought her back to us and had us hold her while they cleaned up her back end of urine and blood from the blood draw they did on her leg after a juglar draw failed. They brought us back to veiw the x-rays, he told us it all looked okay, but there was something in there that he didn't know what it was but he wasn't to concerned about it. Then the blood results came back, her levels were off a bit but not to terribly bad, one was .7 and was supposed to be .5 for normal and the other one was 107 and was supposed to be 100. So they were going to assume it was liver failure. They gave her a shot of medicine that we are not certain what it was but were told it was for infection and gave her vitamins, and liver medicine and wanted to see her back in 30 days to retest her levels. No fluids for her dehydration, they didn't even acknowledge her dehydration or the fact that she miscarried. Or that her face was swollen so bad, we were told it would just go away. Now remember she is only 1 year old! We also asked if she could get spayed right away just in case and they told is we have to wait the 30 days or until she gets better. They basically rushed us out of the door way and the vet seemed very irritated when we tried to give him information or ask him any questions. So we take her home and she sleeps through the night, when she did wake she meowed alot and acted like she was In alot of pain and discomfort, to the point that she didn't even want to use her back end. We called two days later, she still hasn't urinated alot by herself and her stomach was starting to get bigger, she still hadn't eaten, but she was drinking a bit. Her health was still declining. We had to bring her to the water bowl, and sometimes she would just sit there and almost space out, they told us that the antibiotic would take several days to take affect because "it has to find the infection and then work on it"-exact quote from the doctor himself. So we wait another day. She is even worse the next day, she has puss coming out of her vaginal area and her temperature was 104°F. They had us make an appointment for the next day at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Knowing we couldn't wait that long for her to be seen we took her to another vet, one that my friend has known and trusted for many years, and has a high reputation, the one we should have gone to in the first place. She did an emergency spaying of my baby girl, and when she called with the results we we're horrified, my Dot had 3 dead babies in her that were decaying, and her uturus was rotting. Her infection was so bad that it literally poisioned her blood. This vet tried everything she could to save Dot, for one day less then a week, my cat fought for her life, away from home but In the loving care of this vet, who said the only thing that was left that she could have done was give her a blood transfusion. Dot died last night 7-23-2018 @ 8:15pm. I hold the vet at the mauston pet hospital personally responsible for her death. Her numbers were not bad enough to rule that it was liver failure, and the fact that he did not know what he was seeing in the x-ray should have been enough for him to spay her immediately, or do further testing. I will never bring my animals back here ever again. This place need to be shut down immediately before any more animals suffer and or die because of the conceded and negligence attitude of the current vets there. -5 stars from me. So sad such a good place could go so down in a blink of a vet change. read more
