THE CUSTOMER SERVICE ISN'T CONSISTENT…read more Brought my shirt 4/14 for almost $30. They obviously don't try to keep the shirts folded decently so mine had wrinkles so I only place it in the dryer due to the fact the receipt states ITEM MUST BE RETURNED IN ORIGINAL STATE. The shirt shrunk less than 10 mins in the dryer. So I go to return it 4/21 a week later, & soon I get it to say a return it shrunk in the dryer without even looking at my receipt & the tag I brought back with the shirt. I instantly get a respond from the associate stating we can't return it if you washed it. I SAID I PUT IT IN THE DRYER. She did this debate with her coworker and they eventually took the shirt back since she said "I'll do it for you" like she's doing me a favor. When I brought the shirts from vs my return was a 20/10 to 0/10 they need chose wiser words and be a little more respectful. I find it weird people spend $$$ on these clothes but the quality is TRASH! I brought 4 shirts for $84 please beware of the "cheap" quality. Always keep receipts & tags!

Of course the reason I even go to Zumiez in the first place is because I have teenage boys who are scooter/skateboard kiddos. The other location has serious attitude and is super duper crowded. At the Gurnee location, the customer service is kind with a low key vibe. I went in over the holidays looking for Carhartt beanies for my boys. They had one in the color I needed, but they didn't have the other color. The guy behind the register was so incredibly sweet to guide me to a nearby Carhartt store. I had no idea one even existed! We went there, but they were also sold out. Zumiez in Gurnee is also laid out nicely with room to browse. Lots of great sales, and they have some really fun socks! In the future this will be our preferred stop. See you in 2020!

I knew I would love this place the minute I walked in when the woman that worked there said, "I…read morelove your hair", only to be followed up with, "wow, your skirt is so CUTE"!!! Winning me over with compliments is a tried and true formula. The other woman (I think she was the owner) liked my skirt so much that she asked if I would let her check it out (it's one of those infinity skirts) while I tried on the merch... which I definitely was going to do since everything in this store is GORGEOUS. So, I go right to the sale rack (Because, yes, everything is gorgeous, but it's also pretty pricey. Bring your credit cards, ladies!) and immediately fall in love with at least 10 things. I show everything to my boyfriend who is patiently waiting in the very conveniently provided "man-chair" and am peppered with more compliments. Thank you, thank you... :) As I am narrowing it down in the dressing room, I hear a huge commotion from out in the store. A woman and her very young son have come in and he is going nuts. Running around like mad, won't listen while his mother SCREAMS at him to stay by her side, it's very distracting. It's also uncool since this store is lovely and there are plenty of things for this kid to break or ruin in some way. That's when the owner very calmly yet firmly tells the mother that this store might not be appropriate for this boy and they leave without another word. AWESOME! I loved that they took control of what could have been a really uncomfortable situation. Way to go, ladies!! All in all, it's a beautiful store with wonderfully helpful people and it's a breath of fresh air from all the junk "tourist" shops everywhere else in town. I wish that I had brought a little more dough with me because I would have purchased a hell of a lot more. They do lots of stuff between Evyn helping or fitting with boots and the care after the boots is amazing as well they helped me heat mold them and they even did she work on them for free and I bought bindings here. And conveniently located right in lake Geneva! I walked in intending to get new skis and boots and walked out with a great pair of used skis with bindings which he did not need to do..he could of sold me new skis but he listened and knows when to proactively give suggestions without being pushy and it turns out the used skis were exactly what I wanted! Jayson is a real genuine guy that listens! He has a lot of knowledge and after the purchase of the boots I came back and did a custom fit because of a few pressure points in them which made skiing unbearable..after an hour I had a custom fit on the liners of my boots and they are SO COMFORTABLE NOW. During the whole process he graciously explains what he is doing and the reasons for it which made the whole experience seamless. I love my new skis and boots and I cannot wait to put them to good use. Most ski shops near Chicago or Milwaukee do not offer what board shop has and that is QUALITY Service..and a listening ear. They actually care; which sets them apart and really is "gold standard" for ski shops which is rare. Thank you Jayson you're doing it right!! So happy this is so close to home.
