While shopping by Maurice's (and planning to go there afterward) my five year old told me urgently that she had to pee. A few different people pointed me in the direction of Maurice's, mentioning they had a bathroom. When I entered the store, the woman behind the counter gave me the filthiest look, didn't acknowledge me and just looked back down at her paper. So I greeted and asked her if the store had a restroom and she glared at me. She then launched into a tirade about how it was not a "public" bathroom and we couldn't use it. At this point my five year old is near tears trying to hold it. I tell the woman that everyone told me they had a bathroom hoping she would show me some grace. Again she launches into a rant about how what I'm asking is illegal and it is NOT a public bathroom. She told me that she had told a neighboring store to leave them alone and stop sending bathroom users (potential customers) to the store. Her voice is raised, she's being extremely aggressive and my daughters are cowering behind me. Then with a scoff, she dismisses me by looking at her paper again. I was so shocked and angry, I told her to calm down, and she simply gestured for me to head to the exit. Which I did. Did my daughter pee her pants? She sure did. I'm just absolutely horrified that Maurice's would employ someone who cares so little about communication and kindness. read more
