It has taken weeks of calls and texts and today, the day they are arriving in Maui, he texted me to see if I could call and give them my credit card, because there was some kind of issue with his. According to another person at the company, she was writing his card number while she was driving in her car. I called, and began to tell the woman who answered who I was, and she cut me off mid-sentence, and said I will call you back and hung up on me. She did, in fact, call back, and proceeded to go into a rant about how my husband gave them an invalid credit card. Turns out, one number was incorrect. But he gave them the number on two different occasions. Apparently it was a lot of trouble for her to rerun a credit card. I gave her my credit card number, she repeated it, and had added an extra number. Possibly the help is the problem? I hung up the phone and was so upset about the rudeness, that I just in good conscience could not go through with the rental. What else could possible happen once our son got there? We couldn't take that risk on his honeymoon, the most special of vacations. I called her back and told her that I was cancelling due to her rudeness. She accepted it but then proceeded to call me and text me multiple times to explain why she was so upset. Honestly, I didn't care to listen to the explanations. I just wanted an easy, smooth, car experience for my son and his bride. This was absolutely not it. Do yourself a HUGE favor, save yourself HOURS of frustrating communication and DO NOT RENT WITH THESE PEOPLE. I cannot speak to the quality of their rental cars because we did not end up renting with them. But if you care about your blood pressure, RENT ELSEWHERE!!!

At first glance the vehicle appeared beat up, scratches, dents, paint wear, but ran like a charm, very smooth. Good A/C. Inside was clean. Return also smooth, easy. Nearly 30 years ago I rented my first car at Na Ka Oi Motors. I have always had a great experience. I want to add a note that a particular female staffer was quite aggressive and didn't fit in with the usual experience I have had. I am hopeful that current ownership (I knew the old owner for many years and is a good guy) or management maintains a professional environment and ensures that any staff don't become overly aggressive with customers. I over heard her on the phone, and could hear the guy talking. He was on speaker phone on his end. He was accused of yelling. He wasn't yelling. He almost had his reservation canceled. She really jumped all over things and it didn't have merit. This particular agent concerns me enough, that this review could possibly result in me being banned, for even saying this. I hope not, I have been a customer for a long time. I feel that this needs to be reported. While I still maintain a 5 star rating, I want this to at least be a heads up, that some things need to be brought back a notch.

Alan was very friendly and knowledgeable about cars and offered us Mazda for $245 for whole week and they don't charge for delivery to the airport so we just been picked up from there for free on our nice and clean Mazda with full tank of gas, which took us all over the island. Got to Maui airport close to midnight. they were supposed to…read moretext me a lock box code to get into the car parked in the airport lot. turns out they sent the text to a wrong number so we had to take a cab to Kehei and then back again the next morning. spend half a day getting all this sorted out. I complained and they reluctantly credited the taxi fare to me. The fob malfunctionrd next and had to go back and get it fixed. more wasted time to drive across the island. Then after I got home I saw an additional $165 charge on my Visa. when I called them they said there was a computer glitch and it had to add Hawaii taxes. this was after I recieved a confirmation quote for a lesser amount. if I'd known the final price was going to be $165 more, I would have rented from Kehei which was cheaper. when I spoke to three different people at the rental office they all argued with me and said it wasn't their problem, then after speaking to the manager, she hung up on me. all three were very rude, condescending and short tempered. very unprofessional. Ive been renting here for several years and typically the cars are not great but the price was more reasonable but after this experience, I will not be back.

We had an upgraded vehicle for 8 days (10/29/23-11/6/23) and the total cost was only $218.37 plus the gas we put into it. We asked for a mid-sized car and received an almost new, Ford Escape. We had to ask about the features and they kindly showed us the ins and outs of the vehicle. Again, a great experience.
