Maui Kombucha is a kombucha bar in Haiku. It isn't all vegan, but it does have vegan food options. When I went in Feb 2025, the food menu comprised an eggless salad sandwich, avocado toast, a pesto quinoa wrap, and a fusion bowl. They also had 2 soups: corn chowder and carrot miso ginger soup. The kombucha menu consisted of the following: elderberry ginger, prickly pear, cherry lime, blackberry sage, guava lime, and kona. We ordered the eggless salad sandwich and guava lime kombucha. There was indoor seating or outdoor, and we chose outdoor. Both items were delicious. I should warn you that they put either wasabi or horseradish in their eggless salad and that is really something they should warn a person. But I did really like the locally made sourdough bread that they use. Getting to the bathroom is a hike so when you get the key, ask for detailed directions. read more

The kombucha here is a on the much milder and tamer side for me. I like my kombucha stronger - my favorites are GTS and Healthaid kombucha. If you also like those brands then I'd say the kombucha here will be a disappointment. However, if you do like the milder taste of kombucha and like to try different flavors, this would be the place to go. They do have a variety of interesting and fruity flavors for you to try. The food here tastes very, very healthy -- because they are completely raw! This is a great place to come to if you like to eat healthy food and something that goes lighter into your body and doesn't leave you feeling heavy and bloated. I am not sure where to even start but I love this place. This was my daily stop for food while in Maui. The staff is just so chill, sweet and funny. The people that come there are the same and they hang out and chat with the staff.. Lots of regulars stop by for daily dose of kombucha. The food, the food is incredible, just fantastic!. Not impressed at all! My friend and I walked in and was never acknowledged or welcomed. The clerk or worker...whatever you want to call them was focused on the people sitting at the bar. My friend walked out to use the bathroom and during this time a woman walked in and she was helped immediately. Mind you while my friend was out I was still in their browsing the menu and still no acknowledgement or asked if I needed help. Let's move forward...my friend returns and asks to have a same of one of their Kombucha's. He was told that they don't give samples for that particular Kombucha because it was in the back and was special made. Why would you purchase something you can't taste?! We walked out! The food here has gone downhill since last time I was here 2 years ago. All 3 of us were disappointed. The bagel should be rename bagel hole, like the size of a golf ball. The wrap was good but it was all veggies and no solid base of avocado or hummus, left us hungry for more. The nachos should be described as chips and soup. All the toppings were very liquid and came in a bowl that we had the option to pour over or dip, the appearance left much to be desired. On a hot afternoon, I was looking for something cool and refreshing - and happened to stumble onto Maui Kombucha, in the back of a rather unassuming looking office park type of building - but the single picnic table outside of the plain glass door with the "Maui Kombucha" sign made me believe that it wasn't just another office... I got to sample three kinds of amazing kombucha and chose a passion fruit (lilikoi) blend - and found all kinds of delicious and amazing looking desserts in the cooler - picking a raw cashew cream based key lime pie that was so cool, creamy and rich that I savored every bite - and the slice was so big that I brought half home to my friend. For those who aren't pure vegans please listen: THE FOOD HERE TAKES SOME GETTING USED TO. Trust me.. it's a little "too" healthy (unusual flavors that might at first be unappealing) and it might be a bit much for some to handle. Disclaimer aside, the food here was hearty and obviously healthy. We tried their soup (not really my favorite was a little watery) and their sushi (was pretty good) and their wrap (this was awesome) as well as their chia seed dessert (the bee pollen was a very weird thing to add.. but I guess it's healthy?) My favorite thing here was obviously the KOMBUCHA!! The ginger one was my favorite. As for the food.. I'd skip the sushi/soup/chia seed dessert and try a wrap or something else. Wow, wow, wow... would fly back to Maui just to have lunch here again. Just past the cool little town of Paia, you'll find Haiku, within which this gem sits. While they are known for their kombucha (which is tasty and comes in a variety of interesting flavors), their food selection is what sold me. In my 2 stops, I had an empanada, almond cups, veggie calzone, and a HUGE slice of orange cream pie (all raw, vegan, and gluten free). It was all... borderline mind-blowing! Their prices are on par with other vegan/GF cafes, and I would gladly pay double if they could teleport themselves to Honolulu... On the food front, I absolutely love the Fusion bowls... a bowl with quinoa, salad, and soup of your choice on top... SO DELISH! Best part about the booch bar is the staff. Gotta start by saying that the food gets four stars. If they used 100% local and organic ingredients it would get five. Metal is the enemy of the mother, or Kombucha culture. Every single guide to brewing advises against Kombucha touching metal at any point in the process. Maui Kombucha uses METAL KEGS to serve their Kombucha. Kombucha's effervescence is a natural result of the fermentation process. Maui Kombucha pumps their Kombucha full of Co2 to make it more bubbly. Their Kombucha has a high alcohol content, despite the "tests" run by whole foods on specific samples. I've seen many people giving this to their three year olds. Any health benefit in Maui Kombucha is long gone by the time it reaches your beautiful lips. I encourage you to read about Kombucha brewing and to make some at home if you would like to receive the health benefits. Maui Kombucha is not healthy and in my opinion they are deceiving their customers into believing so for a profit. Not my kind of business. Used to be amazing and the food is so good but when I discovered their practices I was blown away and sadly never set foot in there again. read more

Not a fan. Kombucha is acidic and reacts with metal - they use kegs. When brewed naturally, kombucha gets carbonated on it's own from the fermentation. At this place they use Co2 to carbonate it. Also during the natural fermentation process for kombucha the sugar is transformed into lactic acid, giving it a tangy-sour taste...there stuff is still quite sugary. Honestly, I am skeptical that the stuff being served has much to do with kombucha at all. Tastes like carbonated apple cider vinegar with some sugar. Sad to see something like kombucha already being exploited by businesses to take advantage of the uninformed public. read more

So I go in today and as I walk in a guy hands me a shot glass and pours me a sample. Then two more. I decide I'm gonna try some of their food, a small salad ($5) and a small parfait ($6ish). As I'm trying to pay, the kombucha guy calls me out... " just to let you know you have to pay for those samples unless your gonna buy a cup of kombucha or if its your first time." Mind you it's pretty packed. I see some heads turn to look at me through the side of my eye. I said " yeah, it's my first time! But I'll buy a cup." He says, " you don't HAVE to." I think to myself " we'll shit you already made a scene of it and I'd rather u look like the d*ck." So moral of the story - don't set foot in here unless you are going to BUY kombucha for sure! Yes they do 3 new flavors a day that you get to try "for free," but it taste kinda watered down and has extra carbonation. That's where the profit is at for them. Sorry to see the old charm and the quality of their booch go bye bye , pretty much you pay good money for unfizzy , vinegary, flavored water , decided to give it 2 more chances in the past month just to see if I was wrong but unfortunately ,still disappointed:( I also like to see a little "SCOBY" in my kombucha ( that's the weird looking stuff that accumulates in the bottom )theirs contains zero . Amazing place! Free kombucha shots to sample if you buy a full size and they even give you a discount for bringing your own jar. The flavors are interesting and delicious. Their kombucha is on tap so it doesn't quite taste like the homemade stuff - a bit more like champagne. Service was friendly and the place was packed every time I came in. Foods and dessert were out of this world! Mostly raw and very good at that - plus the prices are great for being raw. The beautiful salad (their name for it, although it is beautiful) is delicious - raw croutons, "cheese", and a mouth watering creamy sesame dressing. The pesto pizza is also amazing, the raw crust and pesto make a killer combination. I also snagged some sprouted almonds with coconut, curry, and maple syrup (among other types of nuts and seeds). I would make the trek just for those and a kombucha if they didn't have other food. Im exaggerating a bit but seriously, they're that good. I also wish I would have tried the desserts, but alas I was too full on booch and raw food to fit a whole dessert in. Maybe they could sell dessert shots? The only complaint I have is that there aren't enough seats! Expand please! =] I wish the owners and managers the best of luck with their business. Ok first off the Service is Good. The woman at counter who greeted me my guest was nice and offered us samples, They have a T.V, and bar you can sit and drink and talk. I wanted to sit a table and relax catch up with my friend so we found a spot. I'm no Kampuchea expert but I know when I get a buzz from drinking something and I defiantly got a buzz after having a 12 oz serving. Amazing vegan food! My husband and I are vegan and came from Alaska and were really looking forward to trying this place and we weren't disappointed! We got the raw bagel sandwich with the garlic herb cashew cheese, nachos, kombucha, and a Lilikoi lemon cheezecake. All of it was incredible! We left happy and full but the good type of full! It's easy for me to understand why the two reviewers who beat me to Maui Kombucha both gave it five stars. I, too, was most pleased to discover this unique establishment, and had a thoroughly satisfying lunch here. Raw food options are just too few in this corner of paradise. On a company trip to the island (am I spoiled or what?), I had indulged in resort restaurant dinners the first two nights and was craving some simple greens. So I drove out to Paia and Haiku on the advice of a surfer babe and found this miniature Mecca to healthy eating and drinking. As the other reviewers noted, it's not easy to find; but go all the way through the parking lot that borders the right side of this odd building, around the back, and you will find it. I've never been a huge kombucha fan, but I loved the three samples poured by the owner/factotum the day I visited. Each had an appealing, evocative name that now escapes me, but I remember one was mostly strawberry and another pineapple, and I took a 16-ouncer with me on the way out. I've tried lots more raw "pizzas" than the average omnivore and never found one as superbly delicious as Maui Kombucha's. Generally, I detest the idea of putting pineapple on pizza. I have never (and will never) order a "Hawaiian Pizza" from a proper pizza parlor -- i.e., one that bakes their pies. But here, where the pizzas are the raw, cold, super-thin raw flax crust type, the few finely diced bits of pineapple were part of a complex and perfectly balanced blend of fresh ingredients. #1 raw pizza on the planet, as far as I know. Couldn't resist trying the raw chocolate pie, either, and found it excellent, also. For some reason raw restaurants usually overdo the agave syrup in their desserts, but here there was no excess sweetness, and it was easier to appreciate the authentic chocolate and nut flavors. The interior is pleasant enough, but it's stark and could use a touch of funkification to complement the menu and overall vibe. This place was hands-down my favorite spot on Maui (okay, maybe the Venus Pool wins overall...) - I stopped in multiple times a day during my weeklong visit to the island. Fortunately I was staying just down the road from this hidden gem in Haiku. "Bloch-tenders" are all super friendly, and every time I went I ended up having great conversation with other guests or the person behind the bar. Absolutely love the concept and the incredible variety of juices, smoothies, superfood boosts, savory dishes and mouth-watering raw vegan delicacies - things like the Shakti bar, or libido balls, or omg the Hawaiian toast (be careful in the cooler section, this is where the dangerous chocolate creations are waiting to tempt you). I single-handedly paid someone's salary in a week, between a macnut milk matcha concoction in the morning to my daily noni shot (have you heard about the health benefits?? Unfortunately they didn't have an IV drip available!!) to routine kombucha fill-ups...not to mention full meal indulgences like their pizza or macro bowl or Thai rolls. The kombucha menu rotates and they even have a sparkling coconut water - absolutely delicious - along with the most interesting list of superfood boosts I've ever seen. Staff friendly Food is pricey, portions small and tends to be overly heavy so i rarely eat there. Howwver they do have a lightish meal in the " thai noodle dish pad thai styled" is decent. Certoanly not thai food but a good attempt n its healthier than real dish. I go for the jackie chan jackfruit smoothie & on occasion Tigers milk with almond butter substituted.
