Stopped in for the first time last week and wanted to grab something to take home with us because we were too lazy to make dinner. We ordered the kalbi and BBQ chicken, and we each had a beer while we waited for our food to be prepared and packaged. Found Maui Hawaiian BBQ this afternoon after church. The Pineapple Shrimp looked interesting and did not disappoint! Just the right amount of spice (curry) and the pineapple chunks were amazing. My wife had the Shrimp Salad and it was very good - loaded with shrimp and veggies, not just a bunch of lettuce. Our server was polite and attentive without being over bearing. Stopped in at Maui Hawaiian BBQ today. Small spot in a strip mall, but it's got a nice, relaxed feel. Service was quick and friendly, and the food came out fast which was great. Everything tasted good and had solid flavor all around as I didn't know what to expect from Hawaiian BBQ. The only thing for me personally is the "spicy" dish could've been spicier. Not knocking them for it, I just like heat a little above normal levels. Overall though, no complaints. I'd go back. read more

Wonderful, friendly service. We tried the spam appetizer. It was surprisingly wonderful. Also had the Huli Huli chicken-came served in a half pineapple! Delicious. Substitute the pineapple rice for the white rice. A light, delicious twist on fried rice. Has pineapple and curry flavor.Also had the combo of beef and beef short rib. Food here is so delicious! All made in house. First we had the Crab rangoons that were fresh made. And not with the imitation stuff. Then I had the Chicken/grilled pineapple fried rice was very good. Really nice to have something in this space again. Lots of Hawaiian specialties that you just don't see in this area. Japanese cuisine has become part of Hawaii for a long time. A cool thing is these guys are doing some down home Japanese dishes that you don't see in so called "Japanese" restaurants around here (exp. Katsu curry, takoyaki etc). I order from here about once a week, the food is authentic and always good in my opinion. I'm from Oahu, HI.. Kaneohe to be exact so I grew up eating Hawaiian bbq. The Mac salad is great and the bbq mix plate with a Thai or taro tea is my go to. Definitely recommend the short ribs. Not bad, just very cafeteria quality food. To be totally honest though, I think my hospital's cafeteria has much better food. We were recommended to try the honey garlic chicken, but we did not at all except to just receive a plate of fried chicken nuggets with honey mustard slathered all over them. Again, tasted just fine, but nothing special at all. The lo mein was quite bland to me. Never hurts to try something new though! Nonetheless, the happy hour was great. We got hot sake and egg rolls ($1.50!) and those were so good!! If I were in the area around happy hour, I would consider going back!
