We've been coming here for years and I've always enjoyed my experiences here, but last night I had a dish that compelled me to write a review. The oxtail soup which is listed as a favorite is a dish I've been eyeing for a while, but it's usually been too warm for me to crave it. But last night was the night. I'm getting over a cold and it's been raining off and on for weeks. The bowl arrived at the table with a plate underneath - smart move because it takes some work to eat oxtail soup. Armed with my fork and spoon, I went at it. The first taste floored me. It was perfectly seasoned and I could taste the fresh ginger, the broth was a beautiful brown color, there was plenty of napa cabbage and it came with a dish of a scoop of glossy steamed rice and steamed carrots, zucchini and broccoli. Our waitress offered to bring over condiments so I went for the soy sauce - sprinkled on the rice and veggies, I noticed that the veggies might have had a little sesame oil flavor on them so that made me happy. A spoonful of rice dunked into the broth with some of the tender fall of the bone oxtail meat, and a little crunch of the napa cabbage and I was in absolute heaven. I tasted my husband's pork adobo and that was equally as delicious as always. But that soup - that's what really did it for me last night and stays with me today. I walked out of Tante's with a swollen and happy belly and a fresh, tiny piece of ginger stuck between my teeth...a treat for later.

Imagine finding excellent German/Swiss cuisine on Maui?…read moreBrigit & Bernard's Garden Cafe is just that place. Tucked in a quiet industrial area of Kahului, it is an oasis of delectable treats. The outside lanai is so comfortable and covered from the elements. We have gone there for years, and have always been warmly greeted by the owners. Tonight was no exception when we joined some good friends. The sausage appetizer is superb with your choice of pork or veal bratwursts served with red cabbage and tasty mustard. The Schweinsfilet (Hunter's cutlet) with its flavorful mushroom sauce was delicious. I always get the Wienerschnitzel which is huge, pan fried to perfect crispness yet tender and juicy inside. I ordered extra mushroom sauce to enhance the flavor. For sides, we love the red cabbage, sauerkraut, au gratin potato and spaetzle. Their beer and wine selection goes so well with their dishes. I've had their tasty strudel for dessert in the past. We look forward to dining again for dinner or lunch. Ausgezeichnet!

My husband and I both happened to off on random Monday and decided to visit for lunch. Arrived shortly after opening and not too crowded. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu with potatoes au gratin and veggies and the husband got the carbonara with chicken and bread. We washed everything down with an iced tea and a beer. The portion sizes were heberous and the food was fresh, warm and filling. The flavors were amazing and we savored each bite. Really had a leisurely meal. Didn't get a chance to make it back for Oktoberfest, but will happily dine here again to try their other dishes.

Guava Tree Bar & Grill had amazing local-style food at reasonable prices and pleasant service. I can see this place becoming a solid, local establishment like Tiffanyʻs or Marcoʻs. Folks, this place should be party of the ʻServing Maui for 30 yearsʻ club! I was here for a private event. The place is cute. Small, charming and loads of potential. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Alrhough their wine selection was limited and a bit uneven (Sutter Home but then a J. Lohr for chardonnay), their ginger ale selection was delicious! The food was incredible! Tender, fall apart pork slices, covered with savory, brown gravy; crisp, yet juicy, chicken katsu with a bite of ginger; toothsome chopped steak, tender mushrooms and flavorful pepper slices. Perfectly cooked rice. Yummmmmmm. The mac salad is better than many, but lacked a little tang. Overall, the food was so good that I looked up their hours. Iʻd definitely return.

Paella had been on the menu for at least 25 years! The waitress said I wasn't her only upset guest. She suggested a modified Ciopino but I noticed a new seafood item: MAKAI For Two that included a Lobster tail, fresh fish fillet, shrimp, scallops for $56. I was celebrating so I wasn't going to have an UNhappy birthday so I ordered it and was NOT disappointed. The portions were pretty big, barely enough for two people but enough for 1 large appetite. The 4oz. Ahi was seared, the medium sized lobster tail, 5 scallops, and 3 large shrimp were all grilled and came with a butter/sage dip. Excellent sides included saffron rice and fresh asparagus! The restaurant wasn't too busy and was quiet enough to talk, pleasant as usual. The service was good, the waitress pleasant and the food arrived promptly. The champagne complimented the meal. Although initially saddened by the menu change, I was pleasantly surprised with something new that was very good. Had a satisfying meal for my bday. Enjoy Foodies!

I was bum they were out of acai bowl the morning I wanted breakfast. I settled for their banana bread french toast and avocado toast. Both items were missing something and not quite right. The avocado toast was not toasted, it was just bread. The banana bread french toast was mostly bread and not french toast. You get what I mean? They do serve Starbucks coffee so that was a savior. At dinner I had the chicken pot pie and the brussels sprouts. The top layer of the pot pie was burnt and so was most of the brussels sprouts. At this point you are better off at the Costco food court across the street.

Before our adventure in the Maui Ocean Center, wifey & I got to stop by for a nice meal with Mom, and the bro & sis-in-law at Seascape restaurant! Our hostess for the day was my niece! She made all the suggestions for us to sample from the menu! We went eat all kine! -Kona Kampachi Ceviche (Tahitian Style) - Pineapple, jalapeno, limu, sea grapes, lilikoi-coconut citrus -Hurricane Fries - Crispy fries, spicy aioli, sweet soy, white truffle oil, parmesan -Crispy Pork Belly Bowl - Calamansi citrus glaze, Hamakua mushroom gravy with white rice, curry cashew green pea salad & mixed greens -Garlic Kaua'i Shrimp - Sauteed shrimp in garlic butter with white rice, curry cashew green pea salad & mixed greens -Hanapa'a (Fish On!) - Chef's daily preparation of the fresh local catch -I'a Palai (Fish & Chips) - Tempura-battered local fish, fries, cabbage slaw -Manini Burger - Fries & drink I'm not sure if it was the cool air, the waves of the ocean, or the smell of the sea - but all the food was super tasty! Very ONO, fresh! The Kona Kampachi Ceviche was winnahs indeed! Nice chunks of kampachi, with hints of sweet from the pineapple, saltiness from the sea grapes and limu, all swimming in that divine lilikoi-coconut citrus! So good with a side of taro chips! Hurricane Fries fit the bill for umami too! Mom & wifey shared the Garlic Kaua'i Shrimp and I'a Palai - fresh fish and fresh shrimp, no complaints HA! Fish & chips were delicately fried and light, no over greasiness here! Plump shrimp bathed in that savory garlic butter (and lots of it) got thumbs up! Not sure how sis-in-law's Hanapa'a was specifically prepared this day but it was pan-fried along with some fresh scallops accompanied by a creamy risotto and sauce, topped with a heaping helping of asparagus. Fish was so buttery! Bro got the Manini Burger (LOL) which should be for the keikis but he wasn't so hungry. For one 'manini' burger it looked to be a good-sized portion, he said was actually a really well-made burger! AND you cannot leave Seascape without having a slice of their decadent Maui Mud Pie! Oh boy this sucker was HUGE! It was Mom's favorite part of the meal LOL! She ate a chunk of it on her own! Can't go wrong with Roselani coffee ice cream, chocolate-macadamia nut crust, whipped cream, chocolate ganache, topped with more macadamia nuts and caramel! BIG enough to share for our party of 5! Indulge, be free! Much thanks to the Seascape restaurant for having us over for lunch!
