The MIT FX only sells to patrons with university affiliation in the greater Boston area. Customers must show a valid university ID in order to make a purchase. I only arrived in the city a few days ago and have not picked up my new ID, but Julie was SUPER nice and helpful, allowing to show her my university email address on my iPhone as proof. There are a few new items available (all mattresses are NEW - they don't accept used ones), so I picked up a brand new full-sized futon frame AND mattress for $225. Then, I came away with some good buys on used stuff too: small wooden dining table and four chairs ($75), a not too obnoxiously floral sofa ($50), a small wooden coffee table ($15), and a broad wooden desk ($40). I also picked up misc. items like plates, toaster, lamp, plastic drawers, etc. for real cheap as well as couple of things on the house since I was making a huge purchase. Inventory, of course, changes all the time. You can find stuff for all rooms in your house. The store is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as 1st Saturdays, and during the peak move-in month, August, a few more Saturdays. They have a good relationship with Your Move Inc. for deliveries where you'll pay $60/hour instead of the moving company's normal $100/hour. Only complaint is that the FX is NOT a ten minute walk from the Red Line, as the website suggests. Just take the 47 down from the T, and you'll be better off than walking 15-20 minutes down from Central Square. I will totally return for random stuff here again. Thanks!

Here's the revised version with that detail added smoothly and clearly:…read more I'm genuinely surprised there aren't more recent reviews for this company. I bought my mattress about two years ago because I was having back pain from my previous mattress, which was old and had a dent. I went in hoping to finally fix that problem -- but unfortunately, I ended up with the exact same issue again. Within the first five days of using the new mattress, I noticed a dent forming on the side I sleep on. Five days -- that's unbelievable. I contacted the company by phone and email, and they even sent someone to my home to inspect it. Their conclusion? They blamed a small crack in my bed frame for the dent and refused to do anything. I paid nearly $1,000 for this mattress, and that was the response. For the past two years, I've been sleeping on that dent and dealing with the back pain it causes. Today, I finally reached my limit and decided to leave this review. To be fair, the salesperson at the store was incredibly friendly and even offered a discount. But that discount seems to come with a catch -- it affects how your warranty is honored and limits your ability to exchange or replace a defective mattress. I went in hoping to fix my back pain, not make it worse. Hopefully, this review helps someone else make a more informed decision.

My wife and I visited several furniture stores before deciding to shop here, and from the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Brian Lieb. He was extremely courteous, professional, and attentive throughout our visit. My wife had countless questions, and Brian patiently answered every one of them without hesitation. He walked us through the store, explained everything in detail, and made the entire experience comfortable and enjoyable. We ultimately purchased a loveseat, two chairs, and a small table that was perfect for our needs. The table was a floor model offered at 50% off. However, since it was a floor piece, it was not eligible for delivery, so I returned two days later to pick it up. That's where the issue began. When I arrived, Brian was assisting another customer, so I checked in with customer service and was directed to the pickup area. After waiting about 10 minutes, I was told the loading team was on lunch break and that it would take another 15 minutes. Initially, I was understanding, but after 30 minutes, I followed up again and was informed that the table was still on the showroom floor and had not yet been brought to the pickup area. During this time, I noticed other customers receiving large furniture pickups while I continued to wait. After nearly an hour with no clear communication or progress, I became frustrated and decided to cancel the pickup. The refund was processed, and I left feeling disappointed and concerned about the level of service. At that point, I was even considering canceling the entire order. What stood out most was that no one followed up after the cancellation to understand what went wrong. However, the turning point came the next day. Brian personally called me--on his day off, and even on his birthday--to apologize and explain that this situation was a one-time issue. His willingness to go above and beyond to make things right truly stood out and restored my confidence in the company. Because of his effort, I decided to give them another chance and repurchased the table online. There was a minor scheduling error with the delivery date, but Brian responded immediately, corrected the issue, and ensured everything was delivered as requested. He even worked with his manager to provide an additional discount on the floor model. In the end, everything arrived properly and met our expectations. If it weren't for Brian, I would have canceled the entire order. His professionalism, dedication, and genuine commitment to customer service made all the difference. With over 20 years of experience in customer service myself, I can confidently say that Brian is a tremendous asset to the company. Thank you, Brian, for going above and beyond
