I received some not-so-great follow up service after that from there, so I came and found him in Milpitas where he came through once again! He has great customer service, but what I also like is that he explains the technical aspects of everything. This review is particularly about Doaa who is a sales rep at Mattress Firm, Milpitas. She is clearly incompetent and doesn't have basic communication skills to talk to a customer. I read all the reviews about her when she insisted me to read them before coming to the store to finalize a mattress. After reading the reviews, I thought she can help me find the right mattress and get me the best deal which she mentioned multiple times. But now I feel like those reviews particularly about her are not true as I noticed in store that she keep asking everyone to review her online with 5 rating. Anyways so first instance, she denied 15% discount even though we mentioned it to her after seeing it on the Mattress firm website and then she asked us to show her whether that discount gets applied into the cart, we did that and then she didn't believe so she checked my phone multiple times. When she found everything was correct then she said "why don't you buy it online but you will not get the mattress". Mike Galotta is fantastic. He has been great from the moment we stepped into Mattress Firm until now. He made sure to help us in any way possible and to ensure that we have all of our concerns met. When we first entered Mattress Firm, we did not receive any sales pitch or pressure at all. Later, we met Mike. He simply mentioned to ask him for any help that we needed, and proceeded to let us navigate the store. When we mentioned of a mattress we wanted, Mike immediately helped us gather all inventories available from various warehouses as well as delivery options. Things went without a hitch. However, on the day of delivery, at 8am, there was an issue because the delivery driver said that we did6n't add the gold delivery service option--an extra cost to deliver the mattress up the stairs. But, we did pay for the gold service delivery. Since the mattress is quite heavy, and since I didn't have another person to carry it with me even though I can easily carry one end, I made sure to pay for that service. I had to give the delivery driver some extra cash to bring the mattress up the stairs. I mentioned that situation to Mike and he mentioned to me that he would figure out what happened. We checked our invoice with him and indeed we did pay for the gold delivery service. We have yet to hear about it again, but oh well, water under the bridge now--not a big deal. Later on, we had an issue with the mattress. We would suffer back problems from the mattress in the mornings. The mattress was too soft, it seems. We explained the situation to Mike. At this point, it was past the exchange period and we figured that there would be a hefty cost to do an exchange. But, Mike acknowledged our situation and promptly helped us with an exchange without added cost! The next delivery went without any issues and the delivery folks were fantastic (compared to the previous one). We've been satisfied ever since. Aside from getting a great deal, my decision to give this review and experience 5-stars has less to do with the product I purchased (which was certainly great or I wouldn't even buy it) and more to do with the service and great consideration of my time (since I wasn't about to miss an important NFL Divisional Playoff game). I got the perfect mattress (I bought 2 queens and a full-size) and I was out of there in less than 30 min. And here's the kicker... the 50% off deal was over nearly a month ago (which I knew coming in) but Ronald did the right thing without me putting my negotiation skills to the test and he made it work. We just finished renovations and needed a new mattress. We decided to check out mattress firm since we heard about it on the radio. We were certainly lucky to need a mattress during their sale! But even without the sale this is a store worth checking out for any mattress needs. We walked in the store and was immediately greeted by Tom. He explained how the color coding works for reading mattress firmness and it was easy enough to understand. The whole process of picking out the mattress and us getting the mattress and out the door didn't take more than an hour. Tom's explanations and friendly explanations made the whole process really easy. The mattress prices were reasonable and the delivery date was an easy set up. Worked with Sam and he was top notch ! Know that things won't be super cheap, but you will find quality and at the end of the day that matters. Sam was able to get us the best deal available and even helped us when we needed to swap out our original purchase. He is super knowledgeable and was able to provide great recommendations. We had to swap it out because my husband initially thought he was a side sleeper only to find out he sleeps more on his stomach and back. They have a phenomenal 120 return policy and we were able to go in and find a better fit. The new one is great! Know that the delivery options do suck though. Not enough to even knock a star because it's completely out of the employees hands. How it works is they give you a date and you need to be available the entire day. It's not until less than 24 hours before that the delivery company will call and share a 2 hour window that they'll deliver. This makes it super hard when planning out that day and I wish they could at least do morning and night. The day prior to delivery they usually don't call with the window for delivery until after 7pm to tell you the time slot. If this could be fixed that would make this MUCH smoother read more

Here we go. I rarely use such platforms for feedback, given I've worked in sales, marketing and upper management for over 15 years. So I completely understand both sides of the guest experience. But this must be shared. I've been tracking the Purple Mattress for months! I was excited to hear that Mattress Firm had floor models to try out. I took a trip in October and found myself sold on the comfort and support, given I have had a significant lower disc injury most of my life. I was also sold on the 120 day trial offer with no restock fee if I decided against keeping it. Fast forward to yesterday. After many weeks of feeling unsettled, I decided against keeping the mattress. Completely subjective. Try it for yourself. However, when I called to ask for direction in returning the mattress, I was told that as of January 1st, they now charge a restock fee. Completely false information in order to manipulate me into the sale. Frustration set in. That information is stated nowhere online or in the document I signed. I was also told 'Well, you waited till the last minute to return didn't you...' Completely irrelevant and unacceptable communication. After many calls, the sales associates attempted to retract the information and tell me they would waive the restocking fee that never existed. Hear me again, they will waive the non-existent restock fee. Questionable behavior. I also attempted to speak with the General Manager, and was given the round about as to where/when she would be in. This is now no longer about the fee. I can easily pay it. This has now become a lesson on morals and ethics. This is now about principals. A simple apology for the misinformation would have been sufficient. I have never been treated with or treated anyone else with such disdain in all my years of guest service experience. In reading the reviews, this seems to be a trend here. Sales is not about lying. Sales is about creating a memorable experience for every, guest every time. Regardless of age, gender, sexuality, social status, etc. Five stars to the Corporate Customer Care Team for reaching out to me and addressing my concerns, and for understanding the importance of guest services. This easily could have been brushed under the 'mattress'. My mattress shopping will continue at another location. I trust the members in question here will learn a valuable life lesson. read more

I'm moving to an apartment this Friday and came here specifically for mattress shopping. A tip to all Yelpers: do not ever go with the base MSRP price when it comes to mattress shopping; think of your buying experience as synonymous with going to a car dealership. With a luxury brand, expect less wiggle room. However, with a lower end brand, the sales associates will work with you and negotiate a price that makes the both of you content. I had the pleasure of getting a queen mattress from Mike Montoya. We did our share of discussion and came to a consensus on a price. However, I got a deal on a mattress only - no delivery or box spring included. I opted to pick up the mattress on my own to save money. As for sleep train in itself, I liked the old policy of free delivery and free removal of your old mattress. I wish they still had this policy and threw in a box spring, that would have made my experience here a perfect 5. Pretty fair experience here :) read more

My first time here was a good experience. The older gentleman helped me look for a mattress that would fit my lifestyle. Though I appreciated his advice, I ended up buying another mattress from the San Jose Market branch. The second time was bad. I asked the sales rep if there is a difference between an online boxspring and buying from Mattress Firm. She then assumed I was referring to something from Craigslist. I clarified that I was interested in a Zinus boxspring and I wanted to know how it would affect my mattress. She explained that my bed needs a hard foundation, but then she rudely said anything lower than their prices are second hand which they don't sell in the store. I understand it can be difficult to sell to customers who are conscious on how they spend their money, but politely explaining the difference in quality rather assuming I just wanted to cheap out would be more professional. I purchased my mattress and adjustable base at the Cottle Rd. store. The staff there were awesome. Marnisha Walker and her associate Alissa Alcorha were very knowledgeable and patent with me, I had a lot of questions regarding the adjustable base. Marnisha answered all of my questions. I have had a lower back pain for years when I wake up in the morning, my new mattress seems to have solved that problem for me. We walked in here to shop for mattress obviously. The sales guy was very pleasant and super nice. Did a quick price check online and offered us a super low price. The down side is that they also have staff there who was sitting at the table texting away with cold congealed fast food laying out in plain sight. Not super professional but she was apparently in a foul mood and wouldn't smile. Definitely did not earn brownie points considering this is a customer service based industry. Also, we went to the Mattress Discounters. The mattresses here were spotted and stained and had hair on there. Not clean at all and I was slightly grossed out by the fact that the mattresses weren't very clean and we had to "test" them out by lying down on someone else's hair and stains. The sales rep we dealt with was extremely pleasant and not pushy at all. Overall it was a good experience interacting with that one sales person but then the rest of the experience and store was subpar. Oh yeah... I had bought my bed from Sleep Train in SD and at the time the rep told me for the lifetime of the mattress, I could get free mattress bags for whenever I was going to move. This is based only on my purchase and delivery experiences only. I will update after I have spent more time on the mattress itself. WARNING MY REVIEW IS LONG - and rambling... and probably entertaining to read if you can slog through it, but I digress. I shopped around before finding the mattress I wanted. That being said, I didn't find it at Sleep Train. I found it at Macy's! The first woman at Macy's to help me was VERY helpful. However, I wanted to sleep on my decision (no pun nor irony intended) before I made the purchase. When I tried to go back to her, she wasn't available - I kept getting her days off apparently. When I did finally reach her, they wanted to charge another $100 for shipping, so I basically said no. I had previously gone to the Sleep Train on Tully in San Jose, and the guy was said they price matched, however he was basically trying to play technicalities on that, so I didn't want to go back to him. Also, as a result, I was thinking if I go back to Sleep Train, they were going to try to play technicalities (what I mean is even if it's the EXACT same mattress, but it has a different name in different stores, they would say it's "different" and refuse to price match), so I called the Sleep Train in Milpitas. I gave the technical description of the bed from Macy's and asked if they had it. I asked for their model number for when I went in, I got there, and both sales reps were busy with customers. When one finished up, he immediately came over to help. It was the guy I talked to on the phone (his name was Walter). He helped me and when I asked about the price match and showed him the print out from Macy's webpage, he didn't balk at all. Then he scared me for a moment. When we were going through the paperwork, he looked at Macy's page and said, "I think this might be last year's model". I was thinking, "Oh here we go." But to my pleasant surprise, nothing came of that. Finished the sale and he helped me set-up delivery and I paid. There were no hassles. He didn't try to give me a clearance mattress instead. He just did the price match and the sale. Delivery was great as well. They called a few hours in advance to give me a better window than the 8 hour window you get in store. Than they called about 45 minutes in advance to confirm. They managed to show up a few minutes EARLY (reasonably early). As a result, I had not finished setting-up my new bed frame (blame my last minute action). Rather than just dropping off the mattress for me to move, the delivery guy volunteered to help me set-up my bed frame! I gave them $10 for their help, though they did NOT ask for anything. So why 4 stars and not 5? Well, the sales guy did forget (and I believe it was just honestly forgetting) to give me the additional 5% they do on a price match. I will be contacting them about that, and will update my review on here accordingly. Overall though, my experience at the Milpitas store, specifically, was great! read more

My friend asked for bed frame to be put on top the risers and they refused. Her moms bed was not setup correctly and she fell sitting on the bed. I wonder if they miss labeled my mattress?!?!?!? I purchased my mattress almost a year ago right before Covid. Salesman claimed it would take up to 90 days to break in the mattress. It never broke in it is still stiff and uncomfortable almost a year later... My old mattress was more comfortable. This is not the mattress I ordered it's still too firm and it's almost been a year. I'm a side sleeper need it to be soft and to sink into. How long does it take to break in and why at this price do I have to be so uncomfortable for do long. In no way is this "plush and soft" and for over $3,000 I expected so much softer of a bed. I think they gave me a Firm bed instead of a plush.‍‍ read more

I saw a cheaper price for a comparable mattress online. I thought I can go to any Mattress Firm to do a price match. I was wrong, but the guy who helped me out said it wouldn't be a problem. I called the Mattress Firm where I originally made my order and they refused since they offered a free adjustable base with theirs and the online one didn't come with one however the one online met the minimum for the free base anyways. I walked back in and I asked him if it would be a problem to cancel my order with the other location and reorder it with him. He really didn't like the thought of stealing someone else's commission, but he was nice enough to give me a printed quote with the adjusted price! Thank you so much! Saved me an additional $200. I noticed the reviews are far and few between - but here's my review of what happened over the last 2 weeks. I had been planning the purchase of a new mattress since 2008, right, I know - it's a very long time since then but I guess I was waiting for the right time and it had come along. Two weeks ago, on the 20th or so of June, I had gone into the store to see what they had, despite having my eyes set on getting a Tempur-Pedic mattress. My parents had gone into the store before and had talked to a different sales person - I myself got Laura, who was very helpful and was very relaxed about selling mattresses. Being that I've had my own experiences working in retail for several years - I can't see why so many reviews say the sales people here were aggressive. I had zero pressure to buy anything - in fact, she showed me different models explained the differences in each "level" of bed in the Tempur-Pedic line - and I'm sure that she didn't think I had any intentions of buying (come on, we all know Asians shop around and getting an Asian person to buy anything is like having them buy a car). She took her time and was very friendly. I did not buy that day, but she gave me a brochure with a business card and had the name and number of the sales person my parents had spoken to earlier that day. I went back maybe one week later and our original sales person was not there, but Laura was there again - we talked for a few minutes and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. Once again, I didn't buy. I had gone in a 3rd time, but the sales person we had was not there again - this is probably because when I had gone in each time it was after 8 PM on a weekday. Well, that's all right - I was sure that if I got the sales man my parents had dealt with we might be able to work out a good deal. So, I went in a 4th time and he was there along with the store manager and Laura - all of them were very friendly and nothing but smiles. So, as I read these other reviews, I'm really confused about the whole ordeal of aggressive salesmanship. I did end up buying the Tempur-Pedic, one for my parents and one for myself, I also got pillows, sheets, and a rolling chassis (for lack of a better term) all in a deal. It also helped that they were having a 36 month 0% interest on top of the Tempur-Pedic brand sale. Well, we were indeed able to work out an excellent deal and we signed paper work and were done in about an hour. Darren had said the bed would be delivered anywhere from 4:30 PM to 10 PM - I understand this is a gigantic window - but it's a Saturday and I was in their store from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. My bed arrived at 5 PM. The movers were friendly and answered all my questions since the sheets didn't arrive with the bed - not a big deal, but they were able to provide it in store for me immediately when Darren was called - he was courteous on the phone and was quite apologetic that the bed sheets were not shipped, luckily, the store is not too far from my house and I was heading in that direction anyway - he said he could have it in store for me within 30 minutes or have it delivered to my door step the very next day (on a Sunday). I don't know if anybody else agrees with me, but I would say that's excellent customer service. Now, I realize that the bed I bought is quite specialized - so I can't say much about competitive pricing since Tempur-Pedic has a brand wide set retail price, but Sleep Train does offer to BEAT any price by 5% - now, the last time I saw something like this was about 15 years ago when Fry's Electronics first opened up on Lawrence at their first location, this to me is quite the offer and I believe it is 30 days within the purchase, if I see the same mattress for less they will beat the price - I think that's definitely a low price guarantee. So, all in all, I give them 5 stars. To me, customer service means a lot and they were very kind and were able to be give me quite a deal on the two mattresses + extras, despite the fact that I had come into their store on 4 different occassions - I'm sure they were sick of seeing me and thought I was just a tire kicker. I highly recommend giving them a chance especially during their holiday sales. read more

There used to be two competing mattress stores at McCarthy Ranch in Milpitas. I had always shopped at the other store and was happy. Good deals, delivery on time, no hassles. Then that chain got bought out by Mattress Firm and soon there was one store. The selection at the sole store seems good and the deals are still about the same as any other mattress store. So I bought a mattress there at Mattress Firm on a Saturday. The sales lady said they had it in stock and they could deliver it on Monday. That sounded great. So on Monday, I took time off from work during the 4 hour delivery window. Nobody showed up or called until the end of the day, when a person called to apologize saying that they had forgotten to put my order on the delivery truck. I thought, "Really?", but accidents happen. So they rescheduled to Wednesday and I was happy that it wasn't a window that cut half a day from work. So the dreaded phone call comes again and thankfully before the window, so I didn't have to miss work needlessly. Now it turns out they have problems getting beds from the manufacturer and they are waiting for beds to arrive. Now I'm thinking we went from in stock on Saturday, to forgot it on Monday, to back-ordered on Wednesday. That sounds like they flat out lied to me to make the sale, knowing that they don't and won't have the bed for who knows how long. At least they said they'd credit me back the delivery charge, but still they lied. So now I am rescheduled for Friday for a bed delivery that they don't even know they'll have in stock. I guess after all of the competition was bought out, Mattress Firm has no real need to have happy customers anymore. I would try someplace else unless you have a lot of spare time to wait for deliveries. read more
