Here's what I regret: I had let my order sit online for a few hours before I finalized it. I finalized it in the middle of the night. I honestly have never written a yelp review but I see many people have similar stories. we scheduled for Tuesday taking off work to get our mattress picked up...10am rolls around we get a text asking for us to Reschedule. ok..things come up we move things around to reschedule to Thursday.... Thursday gets here 8-12 window. 12 rolls around no no word. we call customer service. apologies says driver got stuck in traffic can we wait another hour they will give a $17 discount ....we wait 2 hours at this point telling my employer sorry cant come in (because at this point I'm 175 in the hole for this adventure) . crickets. we call ANOTHER time ...escalated to a supervisor who tried to ease things over with a a new offer of $26 off" we will have someone out by 4 or we will call you back at 4 to get you a free refund.......4 o'clock rolls around we get a text "can you push to 8. At that point we felt like this was just a plain ole scam. we call AGAIN and explain the situation and are asked to wait again . We say nope at this point we don't feel comfortable. We are told "if you cancel it'll be a 50% cancellation policy" that's where I raised my voice after being calm this whole time. Told the man we had been assured we would get a refund. Tried arguing and then finally agreed saying he would send an email and trued to get me off the phone saying he sent it already . I told him hadn't received it to which he replied "ma'am I'm still working on it"... Finally got an email saying they would refund. We reported the company to BBB (another new thing for me) and reported to my credit card company who said "yep sounds like you got scammed". what a crazy experience read more

This was a rough experience. I had a scheduled pickup between noon and 4pm on a Monday. By 5:30pm, nobody had showed up and nobody had communicated with me. I attempted to call their office twice, but no answer. By mid-morning Tuesday, there was still zero communication. I found Chris Getz's email on a Yelp review and emailed him asking for assistance. Chris provided great customer service and is the sole reason that this is not a one-star review. I was finally contacted by a driver and after a long back and forth (including a request for a refund that never happened), I was finally given a pickup window for Wednesday between 5pm and 8pm. The driver texted me at 6pm, saying that he was in San Francisco (3.5 hours away) and wanted to know if he could come later. The mattress was finally picked up at 1:30am Thursday. The premise of this service is awesome. Something that's necessary for people who need things picked up and disposed of, however, the execution of the business model leaves a lot to be desired. Wow. I scheduled a pick-up a two days in advance and received a notification that my driver was on the way. The notification confirmed my phone number and address along with the pinpoint map location of my residence. No one showed up. I tried using the customer service chat feature to get an update. No one ever engaged but a bot. I texted the driver and they said dispatch had provided the wrong phone number and address which seems pretty impossible given that information was forwarded to my email. Super disappointing. I sent a follow up email asking what happened - still silence. I understand mistakes happen and was open to brush it off and reschedule but this silence is inexcusable. Had a mattress pick up scheduled, after they arrive the guy says he can't take it. The driver then told us we would receive a full refund. And would receive a call. We never got a call, we called them. Here is where they claimed it was too soiled and would only give a 50% refund. So they didn't have any drivers available for my scheduled time. He was very apologetic (unlike the woman from Mattress Disposal) Definitely not his fault but the fault of Mattress Disposal Plus. By this time I've wasted too much time calling around. I eventually get in contact with someone who promises me a $25 refund. WHAT?!?! I pad $125, rearranged my entire work schedule for the week in order to be home for the scheduled time, was NOT given the courtesy of a 24 hour cancel notice (even though that is expected for the customers or you get charged a ridiculous amount) and had to spend a portion of my day calling several numbers just to get my pickup rescheduled! The pickup eventually happened one and a half weeks later. The company that does the actual work and pickup was fabulous. Right on time, quick with the removal and friendly. I understand that sometimes in life, things happen. If you schedule a pickup, sometimes they have to run late because lets face it we live in LA. I try to not hold traffic and scheduling issues against companies. But... I booked a morning pickup, for a reason, I had plans in the afternoon. 8am - Noon. That schedule worked for me. Great, 45 minutes later I get a call, Tuesday they will pick it up. Great, I work, I can get home by 4... At this point Im annoyed, but, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Tuesday rolls around, and i get 4 separate calls saying if you're home we can pick it up. I cant I am at work. So I call in, cause now Im done. They tell me they will pick it up at 4, and give me a discount, but they can only process the discount after they pick it up. Fine. They show up at 4. Like on the dot 4. FINALLY! Then I call in and they tell me we'll be in touch later in the week. Cut to today, its been a week. Nothing, I call in and they tell me who said you could get a discount? They were supposed to pick up my old sofa between 12-4 pm on a Monday which I had off from work. They called at 3 pm and said there was a "glitch or something with the app and the driver didn't know he had a pick up." They offered to reschedule for the next day, which I had to decline due to my work schedule. I asked them to please cancel the request and give me a refund because I wasn't sure when I would be able to reschedule. They said they "can't do that." I asked, "Even though the mistake is yours?" She replied, "No, but I can put it on hold." Feeling I had no choice and not wanting to get into an argument, I said that was fine and got off the phone. I then sent a follow up email to their customer service to express my disappointment and to insist that they issue a refund. It's now 27 hours later, and I have yet to receive a reply. In the meantime, I now have both the old and new sofa sitting in my tiny living room and they will be there at least all week, because I cannot schedule a new pickup time until Saturday at the earliest. As it is, I will have to rearrange my schedule to try to accommodate the new pick up time. So my time was wasted yesterday, my life will have to be needlessly disrupted this coming Saturday, and, if I decide to use a different company, my money will be wasted as well. Edit - I am updating this review to include the resolution from my viewpoint. Monday: I sent the email to insist on a full refund immediately after they denied my request on the phone. Wednesday: I sent a second email asking someone to please reply to me. Friday: I finally received a response and it was to deny my request for a full refund because of their cancellation policy which states that, if the customer cancels 24 hours or more in advance, they would receive 80% back. Less than 24 hours would only get the customer 50%. They offered 80% of what I prepaid or to reschedule the pickup. I replied to again insist on a full refund and to point out since they were at fault, I should not be penalized. I called attention to the fact that the email confirmation I received when I booked the service indicated that I would be notified one day in advance of any changes, which did not happen. Tuesday morning: I received a new reply again denying my request, saying they could not be held responsible for delays, including those caused by equipment failure. So I replied and informed them that I would be pursuing this in small claims court. One hour later, I received a reply indicating that a supervisor had approved my full refund. I guess I said the magic words. Since that time, the money has indeed been refunded and Haley kindly posted her apology in response to my review. And while I am appreciative of the effort to set things right, I am not changing the number of stars on this review. The quality of customer service has been poor throughout, except for the contrite reply here, and it's clear from other reviews that I am not alone in my poor experience. We used this company to dispose of a mattress in Austin, TX. I chose them because they gave a firm quote online. All the other companies charge you based on whether or not they can fill a trailer with other people's stuff. This is fine because you may be able to get it hauled away cheaper. But it's a pain because you have to be at the house when they come to give you an estimate. And you don't know how much it's going to cost. With Mattress Disposal Plus, I put the old mattress on the front porch because I had to run some errands. When I returned, it was gone. Unfortunately, what started as an easy and intuitive booking protocol, became an untimely and poorly rendered customer experience. I rushed home from work to be there within the projected arrival time frame, 4 - 8, passing up an important prearranged commitment. My wife is pregnant, so it was important that I get home to rearrange our heavy furniture so your removal specialists would have a clear path in which to work. Our apartment is small, so this really limits our space. Would you believe we were the lucky recipients of a no-call no-show? So, I replaced our moved furniture so that the space could be used as usual. The next day, we waited, imagining that we'd receive a call about the mishap, especially considering that we had both emailed and left a voicemail the prior evening. Sadly, this wasn't the case; we had to reach out first. Upon "squeezing us in" (your words, as if we didn't have a previously scheduled appointment) my wife, pregnant mind you, had to move furniture (my job) to make a path for them. This would have been avoided had you come as expected or had the operational decency to inform us you were ill- equipped to perform the service for which you had taken our money. After writing this review, Greg W. from Mattress Disposal Plus promptly called me and also replied to me here to address the problem. He seemed very sincere in his outreach and made a goodwill gesture of refunding a portion of their fee. This was more than I was expecting, and the outreach and gesture were very much appreciated. While I will leave my original review as is, I will be changing my star rating to reflect this company's effort to make things right. Problems with a service are one thing, but how a company follows up with them can sometimes make all the difference. Greg at Mattress Disposal Plus seems to have this latter part of customer service mastered. When I booked my pick-up online I selected an 8am-12pm slot (they only came in 4 hour blocks) as I was having a bed delivered between 10am-12pm from another company and needed to reserve our building's loading dock for both the pick up and delivery. In the free text delivery instruction box, I wrote very specific instructions regarding how deliveries are to be made in my building (admittedly, it can be a bit convoluted). I advised that despite my selecting the slot that began at 8am, my building's loading dock didn't open until 9am and that if they tried to deliver earlier they would have to wait around for the loading dock to open. Large item delivery/removal isn't permitted through our building's front lobby. I received a phone call at 7:30am this morning from the driver advising he was 30 minutes out. I advised him about the loading dock hours but he said if he didn't come now he wasn't sure it could be rescheduled for today. Not acceptable as I needed my mattress and box spring out this morning to make way for the new bed. He said he would contact his company and have someone call me. Twenty five minutes later, I had received no phone call. I called him back and asked the status, and he said he was about ten minutes away. At this point, I had no choice but to have them take the mattress, box spring and foam topper out through the building's lobby. I woke up my partner and we moved the items out into the hallway as he still needed to sleep before work and we wanted as little disruption as possible once they arrived. THIRTY minutes later (8:30am) the driver called and said he was here. I asked him to ring me on the call box so I could buzz him up. He was already in the lobby somehow, which meant I needed to go down and bring him up as the elevator requires a fob to access. I showed him the three pieces and gave him a fob so that he and his partner could get access to the front door and elevator without me having to assist. He said he would call me once they were finished and then I could come down and retrieve the fob. He called back a few minutes later to ask me which apartment I was in. Isn't this on their paperwork? Noticing the pieces were gone, I went down to the lobby to get the fob in the interest of getting them on their way faster without him having to call. When the elevator doors opened I was met by my mattress and box spring blocking the elevator door. There was only one of the two men there at the moment, so I helped the one with the front door in order to expedite the process. It's 31 degrees outside this morning and the lobby and front office was now freezing with the front door being open so much. This in addition to my fellow tenants on their way to work getting off the elevator to be met by my old mattress and box spring in their face. Finally with all three pieces out the door, the other gentleman shows up and tells me he had just dropped my key off at my apartment with my partner. My partner who was attempting to get more sleep having been woken up this morning at 7:30am. I signed the papers, apologized to my building's manager who watched the whole thing, and then promptly came back upstairs to write this review. On a positive note, the driver was very friendly and I know that the crux of this situation wasn't his fault (though I am not sure why they left the mattress set parked in front of the two elevators essentially blocking people from getting off. This at 8:30am when people are on their way to work). To their credit, it does seem that someone from either Mattress Disposal Plus or their subcontracted truck service had called the day prior and left a voicemail advising of the change in pick-up time. I was on an airplane most of the day yesterday and missed the call, and having came home around midnight, exhausted from a long flight, I went promptly to bed without checking messages. $149 for the removal of the three pieces (including an extra fee to remove the foam pad along with the mattress set). A price I was initially more than willing to pay, but in hindsight I would never use this company again given the grief it caused with the actual pick-up. read more

Our pick up time was set 08-1200. At 1120, we got a call from the pickup team that they would not be there until well after 1300. For a service we paid a lot of money in advance for, this was extremely inconvenient and forced us to reschedule the remainder of our day's plans. The team who arrived were not dressed in professional uniforms and the truck was a generic rental truck. This image of two guys dressed in whatever with an unmarked truck and over an hour past our window screamed unprofessional. Further, I called customer service to comment on the dissatisfaction and the representative told me she would have a manager or supervisor call me later in the week. No one ever called. I found this company and didn't check out this company thinking mattress disposal was not a particularly research worthy hire. I should have researched for a local company. I booked a Saturday (12pm-4pm) pickup of an old mattress on Friday. The mattress was just picked up at 7pm! I will note, that our area had one inch of snow today so I gave some leeway for that. However, not three hours of leeway!! Especially since I prepaid for mattress removal. During this SEVEN HOUR WAIT we could not use the garage and had to ensure someone was present. I was unaware of the use of subcontractors until I called the company about the delay and was given phone number of the subcontractor trucking company to call directly. I was not happy that a subcontractor was used but I will acknowledge that the subcontractor trucking company was responsive for my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd phone call. I have never written a bad review before, but I couldn't just let this horrible experience go unnoticed. Their conduct was unprofessional, communication was laughable, and my time--and money--were utterly and completely wasted. No one showed up in the FOUR hour time slot, and not even two hours after that. But did I get a call or receive any kind of notification about where the driver was? Was he in a ditch, sick, running behind? What was happening? Hint: no, I did not. In fact, I had to be the one to call--twice!--for some answers that I only somewhat got after more probing than should've been necessary. A company like MDP that can only exist because of the trucks that transport the furniture to a fro should be a little bit more concerned and aware of the trucks they contract into service. The woman on the phone didn't know where the driver was and could only get ahold of him after an hour--if she actually did. Because then I proceeded to find out that the driver was apparently experiencing "truck issues" and would not be able to come. Strange that they only found that out when I was calling them. And that seems to be the same vague excuse every one of these reviewers has also gotten. So now, uh-oh, it looks like you'll have to reschedule. But I'm moving--permanently--out of my apartment so I can't reschedule, even for a 5 o'clock pick-up they gave me the option for from another driver that I absolutely do not trust anyone to show up for. So I cancelled and now, unbelievably, I'm not getting a full refund. Terrible! I scheduled a pickup for Tuesday 2/21 between Noon and 4pm. Email of order received with correct date and time, but follow-up email and text from service indicated pickup before Noon on scheduled day. Replied to email for clarification, but no response. Scheduled day/time came and went. Called Customer Service and was placed on hold, then call was disconnected. Tried multiple times to call back, but experienced immediate disconnection or rang and rang until eventually went to voice mail. Called from a different number and was immediately connected. I was advised that there was a mix up and that pickup would need to be for the following day. Not thrilled, as I would need to arrange my schedule, I agreed. Advised that I was available from 8am to Noon. Received confirmation email from Customer Service Rep. New pickup day/time came and went. Emailed Customer Service Rep. Did not receive a response. About 15 minutes after pickup time I received a email and text of pending pick up. Tracker provided showed driver in Minneapolis. Called Customer Service. Call went to voice mail. Called back and was connected to a rep. Advised that she would check on delivery time and would call me back. She did not. I received a call from the company that Mattress Disposal Plus contracted for the pick up and was advised that the driver was 45 minutes away. Pick up was an hour and 40 minutes after scheduled pickup. Do no let them CHEAT YOU out of 50% of your refund when you have to cancel because THEY can't pick-up on scheduled date. We pre-paid for scheduled mattress pick-up for Saturday morning. On Saturday, we were told "both" drivers in the area were "unavailable." They offered to reschedule...MONDAY or later. I needed the service over the weekend, therefore I cancelled the service. They said they would only refund us 50% of the full price because WE were cancelling on the "scheduled date of service." Um, no. They DENIED SERVICE on the "scheduled date of service." It is therefore no longer the "scheduled date of service." They said they tried to call the night before, as if that made any difference lolol. Their game is to get your money, and then reschedule you at the last minute on their terms, or force you to cancel the service (because their terms probably don't work for you) and then attempt to keep half your money. Illegally. Well, I consulted with a lawyer. And I got my FULL REFUND. Here's what you need to know: If a company changes the terms of service (e.g. the service date) without your agreement, you are legally entitled at that point to cancel the service and receive a full refund. This company's ridiculous "policies" for keeping some of your money in this situation are not legally enforceable, because they are not legal. What I did, after receiving an email informing me of my 50% refund: 1) Called the company, but only to calmly inform them I was demanding the remainder of my full refund for a service that I cancelled due to the company's inability to deliver under the original terms of service, and to a request a manager email so that I could inform them of my demand in writing (important). The customer service rep said a manager would call me back, I said no need, thank you, I would prefer to contact them in writing. 2) Sent them an email, confirming that I had cancelled the service, and that it was because they had DENIED me service on the scheduled date of service and I was unwilling to agree to THEIR requested change the terms of service. *Received the rest of my refund within an hour 3) Next step would have been to initiate a charge-back with my credit card company/bank. Essentially you are reporting them to the bank/credit card for illegally keeping your money, and the bank/credit card will get it back for you. Explain that the company denied you service on the scheduled date, therefore you cancelled, but they retained half of the service charge as a "penalty" for cancelling. They will take it from there (I was told it would take about a week if it came to that). The lightning speed with which I got my full refund after making it clear I knew my rights tells me these guys know exactly what they're doing. They are going after people who don't know their rights, knowing no one is going to hire a lawyer to get $55 back. So I am posting this in hopes it might help someone. Good luck. Update: Message to Chris G. I have one simple question for you, if you are sincere about wanting to provide good, honest customer service and not rip people off. Which I think you are not. In future, whenever *your company* is UNABLE to provide service on the scheduled date of service (not time, but DATE), will your customer service agents be instructed to accept customer cancellations under THOSE SPECIFIC conditions WITHOUT threatening the customer that a bogus, illegal half-cost fee will be withheld from the refund? Because story after story after story here on Yelp says that MDP's standard practice, when the company is not able to pick-up on the scheduled date, is to threaten the customer with a completely unjustified cancellation fee in order to pressure them into rescheduling rather than cancelling, and then, if the customer cancels, go ahead with issuing only a half-refund, and then keep their money if they give up (free money for nothing!), and only do the right, legal (and also good customer service) thing when people are obviously preparing to pursue legal recourse against you to protect themselves. The service was great but they actually called me the day before and said that their website was wrong and that I had to pay another $10. Ridiculous. I can't believe a company would squeeze another $10 out of someone because of their own mistake. I was stuck and couldn't back out at that point so I just had to pay it. Like I said, the actual removal was fine but that low level of customer service asking for more money was too bad. read more
