When my mother recently passed away unexpectedly, I was thrown into making arrangements for her. While we had talked a little bit about her desires, we never got to the point of choosing a burial location, or what decisions would need to be made. My brothers were in town for her final days and we rushed to schedule a service and burial so they could get back to their families and their jobs. Mostly, this meant taking what was available and going with it. The burial marker/headstone was pushed aside as something to do later. Thankfully, when I was ready, I called Mattos and got to speak with Ryan. He was so kind to meet me at his office on a weekend. He talked to me about the different stone options, pricing and how the engraving is done. He narrowed down the overwhelming number of choices to the handful that met our needs and priorities and we walked out knowing we were in great hands. Mattos Monuments did a good job helping us select our dad's headstone. I really appreciated the fact they didn't try to upsell up on anything. We didn't want to spend a lot and wanted something pretty simple. The process of picking out the stone, the text, and font went quickly and efficiently. It did seem that we went a long time without hearing any updates...but just when I'd start to wonder if I should reach out, I'd get an email. So maybe some quick updates via email as to where they were in the process would have been appreciated. The first proof was good, except that the text at the bottom of the headstone was clearly way too small in proportion to the rest of it, so I was kinda surprised that no one noticed that and improved it before sending us the proof. Not a big deal...we asked for them to enlarge the font and they did so right away. Parking is a bit difficult/confusing at their office, but nothing much can be done to improve on that, I suppose. All in all, generally a good experience, and I would recommend them. read more
