I am not one to write reviews but my experience with Lopez Law inspired me. in 50 years of driving I had never had an alcohol related mark on my record. I recently received an open container ticket which I later found to be a criminal offense! not wanting that on my record I fronted Lopez $4,000 to reduce to a traffic ticket or go away. everything was great, until it wasn't. on the morning of my day in court "attorney Derek" shoves paperwork for me to plead guilty to the open container charge with a $750 fine- exactly. what I could have walked in myself and received. Zero effort on their part produced zero results for me. my efforts to contact to negotiate at least a partial refund have been ignored to this point. if at any point prior to the final moments before court they had informed me of my situation I would have had time to make clear decision, they did not. I spoke with Matthew Lopez in December about a disorderly conduct charge he lead me to believe that we could pull the camera footage from the gas station and we would have all sorts of options. I felt like my best interests were served using this law firm. After signing and paying over 3k I was immediately assigned to Harvey who doesn't return phone calls or emails. While working with Harvey on my case I made it clear my 2nd amendment rights were of upmost importance to me. He basically told me if I completed anger treatment classes I would have my rights back he did not go over the plea agreement in its entirety and left out crucial details such as I would be on unsupervised probation for a year and during that time I wouldn't be able to handle firearms. We were supposed to do a telephonic hearing but was unable to get the required requirements for the court done in time so we decided to go in person for court on Monday, Harvey told me he would arrange everything. On Sunday afternoon less than 24 hours before my court hearing I recieved a email from Harvey stating he had a felon case on Monday he had to go to court for and would be sending another lawyer from the lawfirm. When I showed up to court at 7:30 the security guard stopped me as I wasn't on the list as Harvey never called to setup the in person court appearance. Then the lawyer from the law firm was over an hour late, I called the law firm three different times and was assured someone would call me back to confirm the lawyer was on his way, that never happened. Finally I meet Derrick my new attorney apparently and he asks if Harvey went over the plea agreement which I responded no and he foes the same song and dance never goes over unsupervised probation or my 2nd amendment rights. Then as we are going into court he starts asking people if they need a lawyer seriously giving ambulance chaser vibes. I felt like I was pressured to sign by this law firm and they didn't really care about what I wanted. I asked multiple times on monday to speak with a office manager and was never put into contact with anyone. There is no way to give feedback at this place except with a senior partner and when you fo they drop you. I spoke with a senior partner earlier today and relayed all of this information and was told by him I need to go to the court and file these motions etc and I said look I think I want to get a second opinion and he said that was my right. At 5pm today I received a email stating that they had withdrawn as my attorney. I cant begin to describe how badly run this law firm is, take it from someone who uses lawyers for the last eight years this has to be the worst chop shop I have ever seen. I will be filling a state bar complaint. read more

I strongly regret choosing Matthew Lopez Law and would caution anyone from working with them. Their actions reflect a clear focus on fast money rather than providing genuine legal services or caring for their clients struggles. When I reached out to move forward, everything seemed fine at first. He came off as caring, friendly, and responsive, which made me feel comfortable. However, I did not sign and pay immediately. Instead I spent time saving up for the fee they asked for, for help in my simple and straightforward request. Thus when I had the funds ready, I went to go and sign the document, and was no longer able to. I reached out. Despite our consultation and initially accepting me as a client, without warning, they ignored a week's worth of follow up until today. In the consult, after stating their fee, I asked if they do payment plans by any chance. I figured it did not hurt to ask and I let them know that I have another incredible attorney who works with me on a payment plan since I have excellent credit and 100% on time payments and often pay off early. Because of his words, and I quote, "No, because it's not that expensive." I strongly believe that is their motivation for randomly dropping me is from this. I understood where he was coming from at that time, and I gathered funds despite cost of living and wages difference in our states. But now by dropping me without reason, it seems clear they think I won't pay them or something. My other attorney received glowing 5-star reviews from me for having actual integrity, empathy for, and TRUST IN her clients, as well as prospective clients. I brought this up to be smart with my budget as I am getting on my feet because I left an abusive and toxic situation with only a couple hundred dollars to my name. It was not a IF I want/need their help, it was WHEN. Attorneys take MONTHS and YEARS to get things done, but I couldn't have the same courtesy and respect? Their response today was that they COULD NO LONGER ASSIST ME, for no legitimate reason, despite consulting, quoting, accepting, and sending me their Agreement via email. ****Conclusion**** This firm clearly only values your money, lacks integrity in their word, and has no respect for your time or needs. "Con Man" is accurate. I strongly advise against hiring this firm. Their behavior and lack of character is extremely disappointing. They are leaving me, and likely so many others, in a bad situation. I'll go with who my GOOD ethical attorney suggests now. Should've asked in the first place since they've really had a great business relationship with me. Don't let the nice appearance and prescence fool you. This is a blessing in disguise since they are already failing in their basic duty to stick to their word and honor their verbal agreement and offer. I am convinced they will "do you dirty," continue to lack transparency and communication, and I am glad I was shown that now versus later. I had a very frustrating experience with the Matthew Lopez law firm I hired to represent me in my DUI case. Initially, I spoke with Matthew Lopez, who seemed very knowledgeable and attentive. However, when I signed on, the lawyer assigned to my case was Tyler Steele. Right from the start, Tyler and I had a rocky relationship. When he informed me that the prosecutor claimed I had a prior DUI, I told him that it was not true. But Tyler seemed to believe the prosecutor's word over mine, even though my driving record proved otherwise. It was unfortunate that Tyler Steele, did not thoroughly investigate the prosecutor's claim about a prior DUI and instead took their word for it and wanted me to accept the prosecutions plea offer. It was also concerning that Tyler did not inform me about the option of submitting a deviation request and I had to learn about it on my own through research. A deviation request allows for the defendant to make a case for a lesser charge while still accepting responsibility and is in line with justice. Finally, after eight months of working with Tyler, I learned that he was no longer with the firm, and Rebecca was assigned to my case one month before my next court date. Unfortunately, Rebecca also had to deal with the prosecutor's false claim about a prior DUI, and I learned from Rebecca that Tyler had not submitted any of the recommendation letters I sent over to support my deviation request. Rebecca worked hard to resubmit my deviation request with the recommendation letters and my personal statement letter, but it was still denied by the prosecutor who referenced the prior DUI again. I was disappointed that the prosecutor did not consider my fingerprints and clean driving record, and from the beginning it seemed that the firm was not representing me with vigor or compassion. Rebecca recommended that I accept the plea offer. The day before my court date, I still had questions and wanted to talk directly opposed to email about it. However, she declined my request for a phone call, and at this point I found her cold and harsh and did not demonstrate compassion or consideration for my situation. When I was presented with the plea offer for my DUI case, I felt like I had no other choice but to accept it. Even though it wasn't what I had hoped for, I just wanted to move on from this situation that was causing me a lot of stress and depression. However, at court when Rebecca was going over the offer with me, I noticed that there was a mistake in the charge that I was being asked to plead guilty to. The offer stated that it was for a DUI with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08 or above, which was not my understanding at all. I was under the impression that the plea offer was for a DUI to the slightest degree, which was already a difficult decision for me to make. This was a mistake that should have been caught by my lawyer, Rebecca, before we even got to court. When I brought it to her attention, she responded by saying "Oh, I'm so sorry, thank you for catching that." While I appreciated the acknowledgement, it was her job as my lawyer to catch and correct any errors in the plea offer before presenting it to me. This further supported my feelings of being unrepresented and left me questioning the level of care and attention I was receiving from the firm. I was frustrated and disappointed by this error, and it made me feel like I couldn't trust the system. It was a difficult and emotional time for me, and I had put my faith in the firm to represent me with compassion and vigor. Unfortunately, I felt let down by the experience and wished that I had read their Yelp reviews before hiring them. I recommend you check their Yelp reviews! I do not recommend this firm! In the end, I got the worst-case scenario, i.e., a DUI on my record and that being so I feel like I could have represented myself, saved thousands of dollars and gotten the same outcome. I was called as a witness for a friend that hired this law firm. Harvey Giebner was absolutely terrible. He told my friend prior to court that she was likely going to be found guilty. When I attended via zoom, he was so nervous that his voice was shaking. He didn't ask questions that pertained to trying to prove my friend wasn't guilty. If you want a chance at all at winning a case, be sure you don't have Harvey assigned to you. He goes into it with ZERO confidence in his ability to win a case. read more

I was very unsatisfied with hiring Matthew Lopez as my attorney. We chose him based on reviews on Yelp. My husband spoke with Mr Lopez but it was very brief and he seemed more concerned with payment arrangements. We gathered all the info for our case and then contacted the paralegal who was wonderful to work with. When I called to set up appointment to meet with Matthew, to go over my case, I was informed it would be with Elliot Briggs. We were not impressed with Mr Briggs at all. He repeatedly said that there was a video and we could tell he thought I was guilty despite all our testimony to the contrary. Worst experience ever. If you're not from Az and your not white be careful because they will ruin your life along with this law firm. I was in Lake Havasu with my family having a good time and all the sudden a owner of a restaurant came yelling at our group over vaping. Cops were called and arrested me within seconds, they didn't ask any questions or look at videos that was recorded by the employees that was working there just arrested me. So I made a mistake of hiring these thieves as my lawyer and the whole time my Lawyer wanted me to pled guilty for something I didn't do and there was a statement from the owner stating I didn't touch him or any damages done to his restaurant. Be advised don't hire these thieves there nice on the phone but they will make your life worse take your money and make you pled guilty for something you haven't even done. Also you will not meet or talk to Matthew Lopez himself you talk to his assistant's what a scam. Everyone was is corrupted in Az lawyers, cops and judges. All they want is money I paid close to 5 thousand dollars to pled guilty for a case that the victim said I didn't do anything to him. read more

I have talked and hired the Lawer to fight my case in lake havasu- it is a dead case for that county! I didn't need to hire and pay 4K for the same outcome that I would get without a Lawer! My DMV/MVD add one we're never discussed, I was told that my license suspension hearing was going to be in Phoenix and if police office won't show up I would have a chance not to have it suspended- well Lake Havasu demands you to be present on their zoom chats even with the Lawer, makes you go there for the hearing court date fro wherever you are and finally makes you pay even for a whole day on jail which you have not been in, and there is traffic survival school my Lawer did. Tell me about that was extra extra extra money - yiu will get the install device that my Lawer did not tell me about that cost you a lot and - than the worst I had to sign a plea guilty agreement when I was not agreed- this place Lake Havasu and this firm cannot save you from the charges you get there ! They are brutal - and I hated their communication- when you need to lay they were in top of you- then before my DMV hearing case last hope - Lawer would not even answer my emails until I already have panicked and came by their office . I would not recommend. Lawer has to be the one on top of everything for you and explain from the start! This case costed me to the fullest and actually Lawyers cannot not fight that jurisdiction LAKE HAVASU THEY ARE ALL WORKING TO CARCH INNOCENt people and you also will pay 500$ to Jill's their prison ! We hired Matthew Lopez after my husband got in bit of trouble while visiting the Parker, AZ area from San Diego, CA. We were a little nervous about finding a lawyer, since we were out of state. We definitely made the right decision. Matthew and his staff were not only nice, but informative and always quick to respond. He was also extremely knowledgeable about the court/judge for our particular case, which was reassuring. After the first hearing Matthew attended for us, we found out that my husband's citation was never turned into the court system (they have a year to do so). I was in a wreck and the other persons insurance offered to fix my car and $300 for my pain and suffering. I've never been in a wreck and didn't know what to expect. I had neck and back pain for a few months and wasn't able to partake in my usual weekly hobbies. Not to mention the anxiety I had every time I braked. By far my experience with Matthew lopez law is the worst!! I have never felt that my case was important or my well being. I am now stuck with a 3,000 dollar medical bill. I contacted this law firm in September. I was feeling very optimistic as they informed me my case was pretty cut and dry. Although they must not be making any money off of me so I was pushed aside. Almost three months went by without a word,no email,call or text. Until Matt called me and said that now I'm stuck with my medical bill. Why on earth would someone want to use him as a lawyer is beyond me of he can't handle a simple case like mine. I am truly truly disappointed. While using Matthew Lopez law firm I had a case that took place 6 years ago (so 2012-13), and I recently had gone through FINRA fingerprints and was notified by the federal government that I still had charges on my record (pertaining to 6 years ago) that had not been properly "set aside" Thus, informing me now that Mr. Lopez and his firm had ONLY collected the $3,000 expungement fee and DID NOT actually file any paperwork, thus committing SLANDER to my name and creating a great deal of hassle for me that resulted in job termination. Mr. Lopez refuses to return calls regarding the matter and has his secretary forward any calls of clients with cases that did not partake within the last year. read more
