I used the Arizona Board that gives a list of lawyers who are proven experts in their field. I was met by an Attorney, whose name I had to ask for in our free initial consultation, which ended when I was told the price for their services was a flat fee of $10,000. The fact that it was a free initial consultation was a pleasant surprise. In addition, Stephanie Ramos, was very kind and attentive. I'm sure an error was made, not out of malice or purposefully, but was mistakenly met with a junior member of the firm's criminal law division, despite being assured I'd meet with a partner. I asked, yesterday, to be represented by a senior or founding partner, preferably by Mr. Cantor as the case requires his unique expertise, especially since I only have one chance to present evidence to the Phoenix Court. Upon review of the firm's website, their Family Law division states they have affordable hourly rates. I am waiting on the wire transfer, for the $10K. It has to be pulled from different investments, to minimize the financial impact. The transfer should arrive this week. Given the urgent need for Mr. Cantor's unique expertise, I called and asked to hear back from the firm. My e-mail to the attorney who said that if I needed anything, to send him an email, has not responded. I have also not received any call or email from the firm since then. I understand Mr. Cantor must be a busy man, so while I still prefer him as my representative, throughout the entire process, most importantly have him physically present at the Court, to ensure my chances of success, I would be confident with any of the Arizona Board certified experts in Family Law to help. For example, Partner, Director of Client Relations, Daniel Wilcox; or Senior Associate, Lisa L. Monnette; or Managing Partner, Nicholas Boca; or Senior Associate, Kyle Stephenson; or Senior Associate, Travis Owen. Please reach out to me. I'd much rather have the best team, especially since this is a time-sensitive legal emergency, I do not have the luxury of waiting. After reading many reviews, and the fact that the firm clearly doesn't consider me or the money I bring as a priority, it seems, for now, that the reviews were right and perhaps another firm may actually care about my case and respond in a timely fashion. I do not have many days left to challenge the decision of the court, so, for my 2-year-old twin baby girls, I will look for another firm that is willing to take my case seriously, instead of simply ignoring it all, without so much as a professional courtesy, letting me know what the firm is doing or thinking, just keeping me in the loop. I'm incredibly disappointed. However, the DM Cantor law firm may be working on my case, and reassigned a senior member who is certified in family law by the Arizona Board to my case. The firm may have a valid reason, and I hope that's the case. If that happens and it's communicated to me as soon as possible, I will update this review, and all others, to reflect that, and give them 5 stars. Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, after all. read more

I DO NOT HIRE -- PARTNER-LEVEL FAILURE **Cantor Law Group. Nicholas Boca phoenix family law attorney"], Ryan Baumgartner Boca responded with **Daniel Wilcox I paid Cantor Law Group a $7,000 retainer for a family law matter. What I received in return was effectively no legal representation. My actual legal representation consisted of a single in person meeting lasting approximately seven minutes. During that meeting, I was not told that a Response was due, not warned that failure to file would result in default, and given no legal strategy, guidance, or next steps. I was told communication would occur through the client portal. It did not. At the time I retained this firm, my case was already on the verge of default. Nicholas Boca, Ryan Baumgartner, and the assigned paralegal all knew that a Response was required and that failure to file would result in default. I met with them while default was imminent. They knew. I was never told. Not a single document was filed on my behalf during their representation. No Response. No motion. No protective filing. Nothing. Despite filing zero pleadings and performing no substantive legal work, Cantor Law Group charged over $3,479.51 against my $7,000 retainer. I still went into default. After the firm withdrew, I requested my client file. What I received was alarming. There was no legal strategy, no draft pleadings, no analysis, and no substantive work product. The attorney "notes" consisted of only a handful of words. There is nothing in the file that explains or justifies the fees charged. When I escalated these issues and emailed firm leadership, I received a response from Nicholas Boca, with Daniel Wilcox copied on the reply. This was not an associate response -- it was firm leadership. The response stated the matter was "closed" and warned that any further communication from me would be considered harassment. That response says everything about how this firm operates: take a large retainer, fail to act when default is imminent, charge thousands of dollars anyway, and then threaten the client into silence when accountability is requested. This was not a misunderstanding. This was a complete failure of representation, supervision, and basic professional responsibility, with serious legal and financial consequences. I will be filing complaints with the State Bar regarding every responsible partner involved. I intentionally included firm leadership on my communications because once partners and supervising attorneys are placed on notice of serious failures, imminent default, and disputed billing, they are no longer bystanders. They are responsible for how those issues are handled. The response I received confirmed that leadership was aware of the situation and chose to shut it down rather than correct it. If you are considering Cantor Law Group, understand this clearly: they knew default was imminent, they filed nothing, they charged $3,479.51 of dollars from a $7,000 retainer, and firm leadership shut down accountability instead of addressing the harm. If you've experienced something similar, you can file a complaint with the State Bar of Arizona here: https://www.azbar.org/for-the-public/concerns-about-your-legal-professional/submitting-a-charge/ Arizona State Bar Intake / Hotline: 602-340-7280 If you're unsure where to start, call the number above -- they can walk you through the complaint process. Silence protects bad behavior. Accountability protects communities. We need to stand together to stop law firms that operate like this from continuing to harm people. read more

Cantor Law Group - Email from Nicholas Baka managing partner, replying back to my email disputing the billing/services - Divorce & Family Law Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Annabelle Abel is the most ignorant and unethical attorney in the family law industry I have encountered. She did our entire family, most importantly our child, a huge disservice with her legal recommendations. I had to fire DM Cantor and represent myself in mediation because of her poor legal experience and knowledge. I would not recommend this firm, and especially Annabelle Abel to anyone. read more

Steer clear of this group at all costs. I wasted $6k, I did all the negotiating with me ex to be and they still charged me $6k...I fired them and found an honest competent lawyer. They did not keep me updated on things on their end, had to ask repeatedly. They were unsuccessful in serving my soon to be ex when the new law firm got it the first try by simply listening to me on when and where to be. They were grossly negligent with my paperwork from the start, had to have them fix major things like pre marital assets even after being very clear during the intake. DO NOT HIRE THEM...you've been warned. read more

please record your intake appointment with this company when you hire them then cannot pretend not to know what the intake guy said? If you can play them the recordin? Instead I spent $40,000+ & six months wasting time & Travis Owens & Amanda Spackowski telling me NO?? Then used three examples to say I didn't follow their legal advice? The advice was incorrect but they didn't even know it? After six months they still have no clue what I'm talking about? Cantor Law Group managed my divorce. Travis Owen and Amanda Szpakowski were my attorneys. They were personable and worked hard to establish a postive working vibe with me. Overall, my attorneys and the firm provided competent, caring service on a contentious and sometimes absurd case. I did receive a decent settlement. However, I believe it was not the amount to which I was entitled, given that I was married for over forty years. There were concerning issues. First, the fees were outrageous. At no time did anyone suggest ways to limit expenses. They seemed to be waiting for pushback from me on costs. Second, the attorneys often appeared to "forget" which side of the divorce they were on. For example, minimizing waste from expenses associated with my spouse's pornography addiction....as if spending thousands monthly on OnlyFans, digital dating sites, and gifts for other women is something a "typical" man does. Then, there was the issue of doing NOTHING about my ex's lack of cooperation and contempt for the legal process. Why? Probably because my financial resources were limited, while ex's were limitless. Finally, and my biggest complaint, after collecting tens of thousands of dollars in fees they sent the case to mediation. Why? LIkely they wanted to close the case quickly because costs were escalating and I was out of money. The award for most outrageous moment goes to Travis Owen for showing up on mediation day WITHOUT a roster of financial values for the contested accounts. He also drafted a final decree document with emphasis on limiting my future liability for liens by my ex's creditors. Unfortunately, my accountant later explained that nothing in the document shields me from IRS collections on my ex's unpaid tax debts. read more

Cantor Law came as a recommendation from a family friend, as we were struggling with prior attorney in a family court case regarding visitation and child support. Like others have mentioned, their asking rates may feel high, but we were impressed by their level of professionalism and responsiveness to any and all questions that we had. Rebekah Burz was our attorney and she was able to perform a quick assessment of the current state of our case. She asked all the right questions and was able to put us at ease, since our prior attorney did not provide us with much support. We were able to settle most of what we wanted out of court and, when it came to trial, Rebekah did great. I do wish that we had been warned and/or counseled that the resulting child support payments could come in so much higher than what we had originally discussed and/or expected, but it was a good lesson for all of us. All in all, we would definitely work with the team there again! read more

I cannot recommend a lawyer Gregory sinning. My family and I were going through a very emotionally stressful time in our life dealing with CPS. We were waiting for time sensitive documentation from CPS that Greg failed to relay to us. How devastating was this news for us to hear that Greg was sitting on very important information that we needed only to find out that he completely forgot to send it to us. I can't tell you how much this hurt our family. This coupled with poor communication leads me to this review. Please take better care of your clients moving forward read more

I worked with Daniel Wilcox as my attorney with Cantor Law Group and cannot recommend him enough. Overall, my experience with both Daniel and the Cantor Law Group exceeded my expectations in my ways. They were organized, communicated effectively, and provided a realistic approach to my case. With the many unknowns of any court experience, Daniel updated me and set clear expectations throughout the whole process. I am grateful for the partnership gained during that time and the result that was achieved on my case. The experience, professionalism, and practicality of Cantor Law Group is unmatched by other law firms. read more

I contacted Cantor Law Firm because of their overall high regard in Arizona and I was assigned Mr. Cohen as my attorney. We had a fairly long and detailed consultation on the telephone and he gave me his advice on how he would represent me. My ex-wife was using COVID as an excuse not to see my children and a few silly stipulations that were included in the initial parenting plan. Mr. Cohen was a bulldog for me! He told me that we could file contempt against my ex-wife because of her failure to follow the parenting plan. I "won" my case and got everything I wanted. Mr. Cohen and his team kept me informed thorough out the process and I never had an unanswered question. I highly recommend! read more

I waited a few months before deciding to make a review to ensure I was not acting out of pure emotion. But after doing my research, and speaking to others I do feel this review is necessary. This law firm will ROB YOU. If you are a normal working class family DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. There is no excuse for why they charged us $40,000 in 7 months and the opposing counsel was charged only $4,000 to get the case done. OVER PARENTING TIME AND OUR LAWYER COULD NOT EVEN GET CHILD SUPPORT ESTABLISHED. STAY FAR AWAY!!!!! read more

I would like to personally Thank The Cantor law group especially my attorney Caleb McKay. I was in a custody situation for my 2 year old son. Caleb was knowledgeable, patient, caring and I truly could have not gone through this process with out his representation. He was always accessible and reliable. I highly recommend the Cantor Law Group and Caleb. Once again Thank you. You guys rock!!! read more

This law firm, and particularly Nik Boca, are as rock solid as they come. We spent the better part of three years with a different reputable lawyer who not only mishandled our case during a trial that resulted in the absurd relocation of my son, along with multiple failed attempts at addressing issues in my sons new location. Nik and his team stepped in to the middle of this mess and have been nothing but efficient and transparent. We were able to settle everything within a matter of a couple of months, which is light speed in terms of court matters. If you are going through a divorce and need help with your custody or financial matters, call Nik and his team. Their price may look high compared to lesser firms, but the honesty and accountability in their pricing will end up saving you money over another lawyer who may be dishonest. 5 stars. read more

I'm so grateful that I found Nik Boca at Cantor Law Group. I had a complicated parental rights termination that I was dealing with and Nik was able to step in during the middle of the case and never skip a beat. Nik was instrumental in communicating with the other attorneys involved and was able to help me resolve my case favorably with the court. He is thorough and detailed but even more importantly, he is caring and diligent about working in the best interest of his clients. He made me feel comfortable from the beginning and prepared me for every possible outcome so that there were no surprises. I am so grateful that I was referred to Nik, he is the best advocate I could have hoped for to handle my case. read more

If I could provide a negative star I would. This firm doesn't care about your case. They are money hungry. Should have known by the huge mosaic they have for Trump in their waiting area. My case began in Nov 2019. I first met with a Pamela, but she was not available to represent me. I was passed to Deandra Arena. I asked for an update after zero communication and had some questions, then was told was not a good fit and pushed over to John Carbone. I believe between being passed between lawyers important information was not relayed and they did not do their due diligence in fighting for my case and I had to constantly be asking for updates. Also with any correspondence of asking updates they will charge you for simply reading an email. I have a large debt due to illegitimate charges and when asked about said charges they stopped responding. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. They'll leave you worse off than you began. They did not bring up any relevant issues on domestic violence which misguided my case entirely. The judge ruled as me being unreasonable and order in favor of other parent. *Update since leaving review: one of the higher ups emailed me to check availability to address concerns. After my response I've not received anything in 2 weeks 03/30 update: Nik Boca an attorney from firm responded, on behalf of DCantor. I was offered 3k of previously paid fees in return for removing any negative feedback. When not accepted they also extended a courtesy of working with my current representation in my case. However when consulted on a matter i once again was told they'd do so only once the negative post was removed. This firm also mentions they're experienced in DV cases which was my deciding factor to go with them. Per my experience, this is not the case and they weren't very willing to pursue that subject in the matter along in court and advocate for me. I've learned more thru google than anything the law firm ever assisted with. read more

I had Nermana as my attorney and I was so so impressed with everything she did and how she handled my case. She was always attentive and let me know what was going on as it happened, extremely responsive when I reached out and I never felt like I was in the dark which I did with a previous attorney at a different law firm. I would highly recommend using her if you need any help with family law cases!!! I appointed Cantor law group to represent me after my child's father petitioned me to court and now I'm in a worse circumstance than how it initially began. To start I was given the attorney William Harrison who shown to be quite inexperienced in family law. He failed to use viable evidence during a temporary hearing that ended up favoring my child's father. Not only that, the DV in my case was never brought to the attention of the judge thus making me out to be just an angry mother (which I'd like to note never kept my child from his father). In the two months that I obtained representation from Cantor law firm I've given them nearly $14,000 for absolutely no advancement in my case. I terminated their legal services and upon doing so was told they would expunge my remaining balance which would have easily put me at $16,000 for this absolutely poor service. I requested to speak to Nick Baca regarding my terrible experience numerous times but it seems this firm just wants your money so if it's not coming in, it's your loss. I would recommend for those seeking representation to take your money else where and do your research on the attorney beforehand or you may end up like me, a single mother with a maxed out credit card and nothing to show for it. read more

My name is Sandi Stocks Gish. My attorney is board certified Travis Owen. He has proven to be well respected, supportive and extremely knowledgeable. I am the cliche wife whose husband is having an affair after 32 years of marriage. I supported my husband's dreams, gave up on my own, got very sick with health issues along the way, and had two beautiful children. There were very dark things going on in my marriage, causing me to become a woman who thought I deserved everything done to me. My husband has been having a long affair with a coworker, who is also married, and has tried to make me and my children suffer more after admitting to his affair. To say our lives have been painful is an understatement! Seeing my children in pain is unbearable. To be told to get an Attorney knowing nothing about attorneys, is daunting. Thank Goodness I found Travis Owen. He has championed my family and made his expertise a hand full of attorneys possess, invaluable to us! We are so fortunate to have favorable results, as Travis Owen is compassionate and to the point, not sugar coating anything nor waiting assets or time! We can't say enough great things about him! I personally feel some hope once again when my life has felt hopeless. My spouse is so charming, so it is surprising to meet people whose charm is actually genuine and has no ulterior motives. Nik Boca is amazing! We are so fortunate to have found him. He is a blessing to our family and a beacon of light in a very dark place in our lives. Nik's tenacity, professionalism and attention to detail resulted in us being awarded full custody of my husbands children. We are huge fans of Nik and will be forever grateful for what he has done and what he continues to do. read more

Cantor lawyer was incompetent, dishonest and provided me with absolutely ZERO legal guidance or support. I had orders of protection in place and I hoped that this lawyer would help create safety and advocate on behalf of my kids and I. Contrastingly, I spent more time advocating on my behalf with my own lawyer than the opposing party. My ex earns at least 5x more than I do, is far behind in support and this lawyer volunteered me to pay my exes 70% of medical bills. Due to this lawyer basically "not giving a shit" my sons autism treatment was delayed almost 1 year until I found a lawyer to actually represent our best interest. This "lawyer" made an already traumatic situation even more horrible, scary and stressful. I paid about $20000 for absolutely nothing. Thankfully, I found a lawyer who has corrected critical legal finding that resulted from this cantor lawyer. When I expressed concerns to head lawyers at cantor, I was told to delete my FB review and my lawyer would be more responsive. Horrible experience, Horrible legal "representation. read more

Nic Cantor was the attorney who assisted in my sons child custody and divorce settlement. During our interactions Nic was extremely patient, informative and used his expertise to provide the best recommendations and guidance for my son. We as a family interacted with Nic and were extremely satisfied with the representation and the positive results he achieved for my son. I can honestly say that Nic has a sincere understanding in the welfare and best interest of a child..this being our granddaughter. Cantor Law group I hired Cantor Law group to represent me and an order of protection case. I had this case dismissed already but they re filed it. Nick boka seem like a very nice guy had my best interest at heart I couldn't figure out why a couple times I had consulted with him he kept giving me the same lawyer. ARIEL COHN( AKA) ARI . There was three parts to this case with threatening intonations. Ari cut us come down my son and I and go over the whole case right away he kept looking at his watch that he needed to go granted it was a Friday but this was very important to my custody case extremely important well he told me don't worry about the messages because that was after you had the order dismissed so we did not do anything about the messages. Big day in court comes around we go there the judge immediately drops the first two that I had already had dismissed but was interested in seeing the messages. Opposing counsel that they were handing us as they went you were totally unprepared for it. Drop fumbling through pages that the opposing counsel had given us it was just a circus and Ari was the ringleader I could see him sweating absolutely had to improvise and just did a terrible job the messages my ex-girlfriend had misconstrued if we would have been prepared for it would have been very easily been dropped it was a very easy case except we weren't prepared I was told it was my fault for excessive messages but we weren't ready for the messages you didn't even look at them and bring them Nick Boca Raton no apology but what really got Boca already had went back to the office after we've lost I told her that I had called her bad names and I'm not even going to save them I can't even write them I got that back to me I said I absolutely have never talked to her like that there was not any threatening language whatsoever and not one person I don't talk to women like that. Ari or Nick Boca took absolutely no responsibility for anything I mentioned if he would have put up a good fight and we lost I would have been okay but we didn't put up any kind of argument and it was an absolute disgrace and has hurt me so much in my custody case that I'm going through now. Originally I was going to go and propre represent myself but at the last minute decided this was too important and I got a lawyer why we're leaving my son said daddy should have represented yourself you would have done a much better job I agreed with him the only reason I left one star on this rating is because you have to at least leave one it would be a 0 * I spent somewhere around $2,700 on absolutely nothing except except being smeared and my custody case I have the audio to this whole caseand have played it for my family and friends and it they would have been laughing if it wasn't such a serious consequence rating review 0 out of 5 terrible job I can't even give a terrible job no job very arrogant both Nick boca and Ariel Cohn. She the opposing counsel was one of the cheapest ones online and they kicked his butt. I asked for a shark and I got a little fishy. read more

I found my attorney a few years ago thru Cantor. They were extremely easy to work with and handled my case so well I decided to follow my attorney when they left the firm. Recently I needed another consultation and didn't think twice about calling Cantor again. Daniel Wilcox was AMAZING. He "got it" in under 30 minutes and by that I mean from the short version of my case he immediately understood the dynamics of it. His advice was sound, solid, explained in deep detail and made sense. It turns out due to my circumstances I will not need to hire right now but should things take a turn for the worse, he's my first phone call. I wish he was my attorney from the get go years ago. I am not a fan of lawyers but he is by far the best one I've ever spoken with. He understood narcissism, the court's reactions, dealing with older teens, child support, triggers, trauma and ptsd. Really worth your time to consult with him and hire if you need the best. The firm is very very professionally run and I felt reasonably priced. Attorneys are not cheap so don't expect that. I went to Cantor Law Group 4 months into my custody case after I fired my first lawyer. I spent more money constantly arguing with her and her staff and making corrections to her teams errors on documents then I probably did for her to actually do something on my case. I was working, taking 16 credits in school and raising a little one, so you can imagine the stress, and then to have it magnified by a nasty custody battle with my ex and lawyer. I felt like I was literally losing my mind. I met with Nik for the first time only 6 weeks before our ADR conference. Nik and his team pretty much had to start from the beginning because nothing had been done by my previous lawyer that should have been done months earlier. Nik understood the mental and physical abuse I had gone threw, and the anxiety going through all this was causing me. I went from flipping out on one lawyer every other week, to having a calming sense of relieve just walking into a room with Nik. Anytime I had questions or concerns, Nik or his team were available. I probably annoyed them with how many times I called or emailed with questions or about this or that, lol, I wouldn't blame them if they did, but never did they make me feel like I was. They were carrying and compassionate. I think what really allowed me to feel at ease and finally have the feeling that someone had my back and was looking out for the best interests for my daughter, was when Nik said to me, "I do want to let you know one thing, and I don't want you to take this the wrong way. Yes, you are my client, obviously, you've hired me to handle your case. But I want you to understand that essentially, I am representing your daughter and what's best for her, not what's necessarily best for you or the situation but for her." I don't think I could have had a better person representing me. I'm so grateful for everything he and his team did for me. I'll go back to Nik every time!! read more
