For transparency: I was not and am not a client. The staff here are incredibly rude. I called asking for input regarding resources for a very specific situation. The woman who answered, as many other reviewers have previously indicated, was abrasive, short, rude, and dismissive. Why even answer the phone if you don't want to help people? I understood she could not help me directly with my case; however, she could have pointed me in the direction of someone else that could. When I asked for guidance for other resources, I received a dismissive, "we cannot guide you" and she terminated the call. Notice how the business owner replies to Yelp comments. I never understood why people hate attorneys until hiring this law firm. This law firm is not interested in your case, they are interested in your money, period. Some how i think i should have known that but i didn't realize the extent, the brazen robbery they charge for talking amongst themselves about your case, reading an email, leaving a voicemail, and other countless, meaningless tasks just so they can blow through the retainer and then charge you over a thousand dollars monthly for what essentially is some paperwork filed at this point and phone calls. the charged me $9,300 for that. i ended up paying a little less in the end and john schill believes he did me a favor. lesson learned though.... these attorneys are snakes. I consulted John Schill about a case against Always Unleashed in Scottsdale after my dog was brutally attacked while in their care. Recently I've had another issue about trying to find my dogs and I offered a reward on FB community pages. Mr. Schill posted a threatening comment making demands on behalf of "his client" who has information on my dogs. This is a direct conflict, and a former client should not have to explain this to an attorney. Update: I received a private message from Mr. Schill's office at 11:00pm last night threatening me to remove my comment, or he will take action. Point made. Looks like this formal complaint I prepared will be sent today to the AZ State Bar. I had to file stuff myself because Richard only wanted to file for things that got denied!!!! he charged us thousands to file this! I received a consultation from John Schill. He cut me Off multiple times telling that I have no case. DCS removed my son on false allegations and gave my ex sole parenting time and sole legal decision making. I see my son at his leisure! I even received a letter a week ago saying the case closed out and it was unsubstantiated. He said that's not possible and the case was closed and would have reverted back to the original order. When I told him that's not the case he said "if you're going to argue with me, I can't help you. You don't have a real case." And then he hung up. Stay away from this guy. He thinks he knows everything when I know I do have substantial change in circumstance and I am entitled for a hearing. He could t have been more rude if he tried. Had to go with them because they were the only ones open on Saturday when we needed an emergency Family Law lawyer. Did the bare minimum. Very difficult to get ahold of our lawyer on multiple occasions. They claimed a one price to take care of the custody issue, however dropped all contact after court was done. No follow up work including taking care of previous child support issues that were discussed prior to court. Basically, their "one price to resolve" was basically a "give us a bunch of money and we'll barely give you attention until court is over. I suggest you keep looking for someone better. read more

HORRIBLE BEYOND WORDS - STAY AWAY!!!!!!!! I cannot even put into words how horrendous of an experience I have had with this law firm. I was assigned attorney John Baine for my divorce, and I can honestly say that I have never interacted with a more condescending individual. I had asked him about how the process works, as I have never done this before, and he sounded INCREDIBLY annoyed that I would even think to ask such a question. If I sent him an email or a text, which he TOLD me to do, he would then get angry, say he was at trial, and then told me to stop emailing and texting him. Ever have a follow up question for him? Don't bother. He would say "Jesus Christ!," "Oh brother....." and sigh in the background multiple times, completely and utterly annoyed by me having the gall to even ask what any next step was. You could almost envision him rolling his eyes at you in the background. He literally said to me, "I'm not going to answer that question, because you're just gonna get confused and forget anyways". He couldn't even refer to my child's name correctly, he just kept saying, "the kid". So unprofessional. NO trial was held, NO motion, nothing more than a few phone calls and emails and then, when I requested a refund, they said the bill was OVER $7,000 and that NO refund would be issued. I am now out thousands of dollars because of them. Absolutely unbelievable. If you have any loved ones at all who are considering using a law firm, DO NOT have them go here. With a divorce and child custody case handled by this law group, we encountered huge issues. The initial attorney assigned was Deborah Levine after the $10K retainer fee in Feb 2022. Then, the office sent bills for payment constantly for every phone call, question (any correspondence). Attorney Levine acted quickly with total professionalism, caring, and accountability. Fortunately, the AZ court had the 2 little children returned back home to the Father from the Mother who had taken them away with her to WI with her boyfriend. HOWEVER, that was only an emergent order. Attorney Levine left the practice and #2 attorney Jamie Cornish was assigned in June 2022. She had to learn the case and bills were sent again for every call, text, email, etc. Soon, attorney #3 Les Boegemann was assigned in Nov 2022 because yet another had left the practice. In March, 2023 with another almost $5K bill sent and yet another (#4) attorney Joy Parker was assigned to us. She is an immigration attorney, not family law. We left Schill's office to go back to the expert, Attorney Deb Levine that we had started with before she left this practice. Don't settle, don't let yourself be intimidated, be aware of billing practices that are not the norm, and be cautious if there is a revolving door with attorneys leaving a practice. read more

I was not happy with the change at first because Daniel was unknown to me, however, Daniel quickly proved he believed in me and worked very closely with me to prepare for trial. Worse lawyers to handle a divorce. It took 3 lawyers to handle my case. The 3rd one did nothing. Paid this firm up front in full to settle my case and then when apparently they think they have used up all the money they lay back and refuse to finish what was in the divorce decree saying that what's in the decree that was written up is not the purpose if the divorce. Once the decree was signed by the judge its over according to John shill. If I want to get what was promised he wanted another retainer to pursue it. The 1st to lawyers quit and the 3rd was useless . I would stay away from this law firm at all cost. Several times I asked to take this case to court or file a motion to make the other party settle but they refused to cooperate and the firm refused to take her to court because it would ruin her reputation according to Bobbie . Then she quit the firm . the 1st lawyer lasted a few months and everything was going fine then he quit turning it over to Bobbie who was only practicing law for only a few years. Very inexperienced. I'm left with a divorce but nothing that was promised unless I retain another law firm to get what was promised in the decree. read more

He wanted to rush me off the phone and told me the person harassing me was within her right and to just have my boyfriends family law attorney deal with the issue. The next lawyer from a different law office I spoke to said that I didn't have to go through my boyfriends family law attorney to address the issue. Horrible experience, 48 hours after deciding they were not for us, they gave BIG attitude when we cancelled their services. Per the contract any money not used was refundable. They kept $885 for contracting them and cancelling them, despite their billing no work had been done. Filing a claim with the state bar against. This is not how people should be treated. We were appointed Keith Evans for our parenting time / child support re-calculation on behalf of Dad. He saved the case that had become a mess. We would have him again in a heartbeat. Blew us away at trial (wow!!) and we had so many wins at trial that we asked for (which is not easy for a Dad in this state). Always walked us through things and answered the phone or called us back pretty quickly. He was great and easy to work with. He knows his stuff and laws for family court. Thank you Keith!!!!! Mr. Shill was great in the initial set up meeting as well. That was the only interaction we had with him. On 10/26/2021, I called and talked to a young lady who informed me that Mr. Schill will return my call that day, again no response. I have waited since then until 11/8/2021 to give them one more chance. I was told that an attorney would call me that very day and they apologized for what happened but I still have not heard back from them. Absolutely horrible and unprofessional experience. I would NOT recommend this law group to my friends or colleagues. Initial call and talk to the lawyer was fine, but at that point I had not been charged with a crime, but I decided to retain them anyway. The retainer was $1,000. After 2 weeks and some discussion with my wife, I decided I wanted to pursue a different avenue in my defense, so I notified the Schill Law Group that was my intentions, and I would like a refund. 2 weeks later, after still no refund, I was charged another $500! Long story short, it took a full MONTH after the initial request for a refund, several unreturned calls and emails, as well as a threat to call the AZ State Bar. I STILL didn't see my refund or an accounting of the "work" performed. It finally took my filing a complaint with the State Bar for John Schill to call me and say that the money should be refunded. After ALL that, I didn't even get the full $1,500. Apparently, talking to an attorney for 10 minutes constitutes an hour of work and a $250 charge, as well as $125 to 'open the case file'. John did agree to refund me an extra $125 from the 'hour of work done', but I still believe after all this headache, I'm entitled to the full $1,500. Bunch of BS, and I still don't think I'll see an actual accounting of the supposed work performed. Absolute RIP OFF. There are better and more professional law firms out there. After making a contract $3,200 on a simple shoplifting charge on which 3 days later the case was dropped from court well I of course asked for my money back since there was no case file and they told me that absolutely they will issue me a check. 2 months went by and I had my family called many times asking what is taking so long well later on out of the $3,200 I only ended up getting $700!!!.. I then asked for the expense report and all it showed was case review and like 10 conference calls. I then asked what was the conference calls about and it basically was my family calling about the refund and was charge for those calls!!!. I highly recommend both Deborah Levine and Keith Evans who worked on my custody case. Deborah is especially good at understanding the perspective of a mother and presenting a case from that point of view. Both attorneys who worked on my case were highly skilled and effective. I ended up with Deborah at my final custody trial and was very happy with her methodical presentation skills, as well as her ability to connect with the client. I highly recommend her as a single mother. In addition, Deborah is a former educator and as a School Psychologist, I felt she understands the importance of the parent's role in a child's educational needs. Terrible family lawyer. Lawyers don't communicate, they pad their invoices so they don't have to give refunds! My son lawyer ignored the judge and got his family court case dropped! Said they returned case file in full but 9 months later still no case file! Then try and have my son sign and say he received his entire case! We declined to sign as all the evidence in our case was missing! Oh and I have the proof to back up everything I'm saying. We have turned this law group into the state bar and there is an investigation currently. Make sure you check this firm fully including checking with bar to see how many people have filed complaints. Back in May of 2018 I was in the middle of nasty divorce, when my original lawyer had a personal problem and I was forced to research and find a new lawyer in 2 weeks,my hearing was set for July. After some research I contacted the Shilling Law Office and spoke directly with Mr Shilling, explain my situation and advised him that I felt my ex's lawyer was dishonest and being very aggressive, so I need a lawyer that could match her aggressiveness. He was very helpful with a payment plan and told me my new lawyer would contact me asap, which is exactly what happened.My new lawyer was Melanie Gable, she was outstanding anytime I called she got back almost immediately and in less than a month and a half was completely up to date on my case,ready for trail and extremely stern but polite with my ex's lawyer. 95% of what I wanted I received, most importantly custody of my kids. However my ex's lawyer continued to argue for back child support and some legal fees. Melanie Gable was unable to assist me with this so I was assigned Rita Roberts again on short notice and again I was completely impressed, she was again extremely professional and very aggressive with my ex's lawyer and her attention to details was exactly what I need. And last but not least I went back to the the Shilling Lawfirm one last time in February of this year to try and get my alimony terminated and my ex to pay me child support, again Rita Roberts was my representation, she researched everything and had all the paperwork in order and case law filed when she was furloughed because of the virus at which time I was assigned Keith Evans again contacted me immediately met we me twice to go over paperwork and was available anytime I needed him. We went on Zoom for the hearing and Keith was outstanding, the court awarded me everything I asked for. I know this was a very long story and it was a nightmare for me until I hooked up with the Shilling Lawfirm and three of the best Lawyers I have ever seen. This firm has reached out to me back in 2019 in a case that I was fighting for joint custody. After learning about this firm after wasting $5,000, I learned that they coerced me to enter into an agreement that did not guarantee me to see my son. It was called a Rule 69. This was the worst mistake I made on this because I was led to believe that the order would enforce the mother to let me see my kid. My lawyer came to court on that day and did not have any of my filing information for my case and still managed to have me sign a false hope document leading m to believe that I would see my son after I walked out of that courtroom. This kind of order is a set up to alleviate the firm from further representation. This order allowed the mother to continue to alienate me from my son. After I expressed for the lawyer Rita Roberts to do more, she came back at me saying that I am not trying to follow the agreement. How can I be blamed for not following the agreement when the order was established to agree to see my son and to date I still haven't seen my son. This firm guaranteed me to work diligent with me in order to be in my son's life. So far, I can confirm that this firm is not for anybody dealing with family issues and due to the pandemic, I'm pretty sure that they will continue to pick and choose who they want to represent properly. If you ask me, a black man with a past seen in their eyes is a easy way to provide false hope in order to legally steal your money and leave you with nothing. I do not have my son in my life but learned enough that this firm is not about helping families. They are more worried about helping animals and defending them against malicious owners. Instead of going back to the courts to pursue the issue that the mother is failing to agree to anything on the order to reverse the action and set it for trial, the lawyer then dropped from my case. Talk about fight to the end, more like break you to the point where you can no longer continue to afford their services. read more

disappointing. I have just received my closing letter from Schill regarding my divorce. While I cannot say that the outcome was unfavorable, I cant help but wonder if I may have done better with an attorney who paid a little more attention to detail. Admittedly, my case was a nothing case, 2nd divorce, no children, no property.. I never got the feeling that my attorney was really listening to me. He'd say at the close of every telephone conversation, "and I will follow this up with an email." .. i never got those follow up emails.. and being that I wouldnt hear from him for a month, I felt very much in the dark. When I did talk to him, he cut me off, and seemed to listed more to respond than to understand the situation and explain why or why not my point was legal or valid. I felt that he was somewhat condescending. Again, this was a nothing case.. I know that... but there were a couple of details that I feel if my attorney would have given appropriate attention to, I could have come out better than I did. read more

Worst experience! If I could give a half star I would! I hired this law firm in March 2017 to handle my divorce. John was going to be my atty but got transferred to another atty. Paid the fee up front but the service I got was horrible. My appt was at 1300-i got there at 1245- wasn't seen till 1345. I should've left then but decided to stay-my bad. I brought everything I had but the atty only took a disk, took a cpl notes. It felt like a rushed appt. My trial was a month and a half away and I told my then atty this. I explained everything to John as well. If this was too much for the law firm/atty he should've said something upfront, instead off taking my money and providing piss poor service. This is not how you TREAT people. Who hires someone that you have to chase down? I had to call/email John to have this atty call me. Moving forward my atty harped on settling from the beginning to the end/up until the day of trial. Fast forward i know i wouldnt get everything i wanted-I barely got 1 item I asked for which I have to pay for. Not bitter at all but justice was blind in my case. Lots of emails transpired between my then atty/myself-along the way I received another clients information i.e name/address-other pertinent info. Now I'm thinking where is the client/atty privacy-could my info be floating around? I've never felt this disrespected after pay 10k up front for a horrible service. Even after the judge signed the decree-i asked the law firm to send me all my info-which I had to wait an additional week. I'm reaching out to the board of ethics/atty general about the practice of this law firm. Plz avoid this law firm at all costs. 10k doesn't grow on trees especially for a single mom/disable Veteran.
