These two d-holes didn't want to give up the extra arm space. The attendants didn't do anything to get the seat filled.

I have now been to Matthew Knight arena twice. Once for a concert (Tim McGraw and Faith Hill) and last night for the women's game vs. Oregon State. The arena doesn't have great acoustics for a concert. The seats seems a little too sloped, so I got the feeling like I was going to pitch forward when I needed to stand for people trying to get in and out. Parking is a nightmare, as there isn't enough venue parking available, necessitating having to park a mile away in the residential areas and walking (if it's raining, which happens in Oregon from time to time, you are doomed). For the women's game, this place is a disaster. It was quick to get scanned in and the woman we asked about the General Admission seating was helpful. The lady handling the elevator was very nice. Then my youngest and my two 70+ year old folks ventured to find our seats. When you buy General Admission tickets, you are not notified that you aren't actually getting an assigned seat, even though the tickets list a section, a row, and seat numbers. That's a lie. If you work (like me) and can't get to the game 30 minutes early, you may not get a seat. Lots of people had to stand, which makes NO sense. At football games, you can pay significantly less for standing room tickets. Here, you may or may not have to stand, but you pay just as much to stand as you do to possibly sit. It's BS. So we looked and looked in various sections, often finding jerks who had jackets on empty seats. When asked if we could sit there, they were always being saved. We asked attendants what we were supposed to do and they told us to talk to the ticket office and walked away. What are they there for!? To be a-holes to guests? Finally, 8 minutes into the 1st quarter that we missed, we found two seats and my mom and youngest took them. I was able to find one by itself in front of them. My 72 year old dad? He had to stand. Was there another open seat? Sure. There were two old guys in front of me that wouldn't give up the seat in-between them. When I asked an attendant that walked by if they could make them give up that seat, they told the guy that they were saving it for a friend (that never showed up apparently, because they both rested their elbows on the empty seat the entire time) and the attendant walked away. Again, what are they there for? They don't DO anything! My dad ultimately watched the game from the top of the stairs. We had an OK time, but we were really close to paying $250 for 4 "seats" to a basketball where we all could have been standing the entire time. I'm fairly pissed about it. Standing room only tickets should be $5. If you buy a ticket and it gives you a section, row, and seat number, you should HAVE a seat to sit in. Combine that with zero parking and employees who don't DO anything, and I don't have any desire to attend another game. It is a real shame, because I would like to support Oregon athletics, but greedy people who oversell and put profits over providing a great atmosphere and experience make it nearly impossible.

I had never been here until last night when my husband and I came for a Duck basketball game. This was something he has been wanting to do for a while, so off we went. Ticket prices weren't bad. Seemed a little high for basketball, but not over the top. We had made plans to walk to dinner and then over to the game after parking. They have quite a few places to park around the arena. We parked across from the Oregon Research Institute and walked over. It cost $10, but the attendant was helpful and informative. Not bad and very easy to get to and from. We walked around the area and I stopped to ask a couple of event coordinators that were directing traffic about where to drop off my mother and if there was specific handicapped parking available. We're going to the Elton John concert in a couple weeks, so I wanted to find out where to drop her off and park. They were all more than happy to help. We went inside, after scaling through the baggage check line. I gave my husband my ID and left my bag at home. This speeds up the process of getting in the door by a lot. We had to stop and look my our tickets to find out where we were sitting. There was an attendant/employee there to help and direct us, and were quite helpful. We sat in the 105 section, which was very easy to get to, and the bathrooms were right outside our section. We bought all of our tickets online, for both the basketball game and the concert. I have no opinion on concerts yet, as this will be the first one I've seen there. Last night we saw a Duck basketball game. The arena is quite nice, and very comfortable to sit in and navigate. There's multiple entrances, and it's easy to find your way around. It's not a huge arena by any near means, but that's something I've always liked about Oregon Duck venues, like Autzen Stadium and Matthew Knight Arena. We enjoyed our visit here last night, and we will definitely return. I had no complaints. Everyone working there was very helpful and made for a nice evening. Review 27 of 2017.

Although the old McArthur Court was hardly anything to write home about, in terms of modern conveniences anyway. But what Mac Court lacked in modernity it made up for in atmosphere. Well, the newly-opened Matt Court has all of those modern conveniences. The architects even managed to retain some of the old building's atmosphere. The upper deck is angled at the highest possible angle allowed by law, which gives the upper deck a feel similar to Mac Court. Unlike Mac Court, however, the viewing angles from your seat are much better. Like most new arenas, the sound system is set to about 17. Be prepared for the aural assault. And of course, be prepared for the visual assault. The ribbon board is very bright, and reflects on to the floor -- an artifact very much reflected on TV broadcasts. Oh yeah, the floor. I'm sure you've heard something about the floor. It's actually not as bad in person. But it is bad. Then again, this is the University of Oregon we're talking about. You wouldn't expect anything else from them. Phil Knight and Nike definitely got their money's worth.

This review is for the venue as a concert experience. Portland concert goers are familiar with the basketball arena turned venue concept and the Moda Center serves adequately if not spectacularly. Eugene's Matthew Knight Arena is essentially a smaller version with significantly less corporate branding. Seats are comfortable enough, sound quality is surprisingly high and parking (at least in the surrounding area) is easy. Didn't hit the concession stands, lines seemed to move decently and prices were less than other venues. Overall a strong venue.

    Sucks. Big time.

You should be ashamed of yourselves. Not note ing where the stage is when you purchase tickets is bogus. Section 215 faces the back of the stage!!!! This is criminal. I can watch a big screen at home. This sucks. So not worth the 2 hour drive. Good thing I have awesome company.

"It never rains...in Autzen Stadium!" - Don Essig, longtime Autzen PA announcer…read more Well, yeah, sure. But also, surrrrrre, Don. But who really cares? You're in Oregon, where the climate has its own ideas on where and when things will change. You're just off campus of the University of Oregon, across the Willamette (highly recommend the bridge walk, it's a tradition), and you're going to be a part of a crowd of ~60,000. And while that is far less than some other venues, these crowds get throaty and LOUD, especially when the Ducks have the opponents pinned deep in their own end. Also, that's when the rain is a big help, because fumbles happen. The steps on the south end take you right under the big O, letting you know just who calls this place home. If you're so inclined, then you can walk the ramps up the east or west sides, too, so those who might need accessibility or just people who hate stairs can be accommodated. The concourses are pretty wide, though when concessions lines are long, the concourses are still cramped. Restrooms are plenty and have LOTS of facilities, so you *might* even be able to make a comfort stop during a commercial break. But if you miss the action and the crowd roars, then the restrooms are quite the echo chamber. Autzen has had a gazillion magic moments, the Duck ALWAYS entertains, and it's fairly visiting-fan friendly, as long as yer not OSU. This is also the venue for the main graduation ceremony, stuffing the south stands with family & friends to celebrate their Ducks' academic accomplishments. So while Kenny Wheaton's '94 'pick six' or the 32-31 barnburner against Ohio State in '24 are hallowed memories here, so too are those school-related festivities, not just sportsball. And yes, I'm biased because my Duck walked here. Parking isn't easy, and traffic gets managed along MLK Jr Way, but that's where the bridge walk helps. If you need merch or the latest in UO garb, then the Duck Store might have something for all ages. Hey, even the Grateful Dead played here TEN times, so you know almost anyone could call this a special place. Come early. Wear green. Be LOUD.

If you've never experienced a Saturday at Autzen Stadium, home of the Oregon Ducks football, then…read morebuckle up because this place isn't just a football game, it's a full-blown football event, the kind that would make even John Madden slam the telestrator pen on the table and shout, "BOOM! Now THAT'S football!" Built back in 1967 and named after lumberman and supporter Thomas J. Autzen, this stadium rose from the Oregon soil like a cathedral to college football. Over the years it's been upgraded most notably the 2002 expansion that pushed capacity past 54,000 but here's the crazy part: it sounds like twice that many. The freeway around Eugene backs up for miles, tailgates stretch forever, and it honestly feels like there are more fans outside the stadium than inside. That's when you know you're somewhere special. Then you walk through the gates... and BAM! The noise hits you like a linebacker blitzing through the A-gap. Autzen is famous for being one of the loudest stadiums in college football, and buddy, that's not marketing that's physics. Ducks fans don't cheer, they detonate. The chant starts rolling: "Ducks! Ducks! Go Ducks!" and the sound bounces off the bowl so hard your ears feel like they just went three rounds with a jet engine. The band fires up, the speakers blast music like a rock concert, and suddenly a Harley engine roars to life VROOOOM echoing across the field like thunder in the Cascades. The green and yellow colors flash everywhere, and the place turns into a sea of Nike energy, which makes sense because the university's most famous supporter, Phil Knight, helped fuel the Ducks' rise into a national powerhouse. And then comes the moment that gives you goosebumps. The stadium goes quiet for the national anthem, the military is honored, and right when the final note hits WHOOSH! Fighter jets scream over the top of the stadium in a flyover that rattles the rafters. The crowd erupts, the band explodes into fight songs, and suddenly Autzen sounds less like a stadium and more like a jet-powered rock concert with shoulder pads. It's wild, it's loud, it's electric and I'm telling you right now, in true Madden fashion: when a stadium shakes like that, when the crowd's louder than a freight train, and when the Ducks come flying out of that tunnel... BOOM! That's football, baby. Five stars. Best college football stadium I've ever experienced. Go Ducks. Go Nike. And hold onto your eardrums.

Since PK Park can only house around 4,000 people as opposed to Autzen's 50,000, it is a much more relaxed atmosphere and you don't feel like you're being suffocated by people. Security seems to be much more lax here, and from the two games I've gone to here so far, I haven't had to wait in line outside the park for nearly as long as I would at Autzen to get inside. The park is clean, and you get a good view of the field from any seat in the house. I like that for the GA section, seating isn't assigned, so you can decide where within the section you want to sit. I got to sit in the front row behind the dugout each time I came here, and it was a great experience. The food vendors have all your typical baseball food: peanuts, cotton candy, hot dogs, ice cream, nachos, popcorn, pretzels, etc., and pricing is a little steep but not outrageous like MLB pricing. They also have a vegetarian meat option for their grand slam nachos, which I can appreciate. Also, if you're obsessed with the elusive Oregon Duck like I am, it's much easier to snap a picture with him here than it is at Autzen! Oh and the baseball team is pretty fun to watch too. I only wish I had started coming to their games sooner!

Or course it may vary from time to time. I was happy to see that Peek A Book Delight was there, and was able to get a cup of mango slices with seasonings like chamoy and lime. You can get peanuts for $3 and Prince Puckler's ice cream. The stadium itself just has one main screen and there were no instant replays during the game, but they did have those fun and silly fan games in between innings that were sponsored by various local businesses. The park being outside got chilly at night but the restroom was warm. There was a couch in the women's room. Note that they have a clear bag policy and if you have a prepaid ticket to park in the East Lot, the entrance is at MLK Way and Kinsrow. Google maps took me to the wrong place and I had to drive a bit to figure out where I was supposed to go as the signage was not so good.

Maybe it's the ghosts of greatness knowing that Steve Prefontaine once tore across this very track with that fearless, front-running style. Maybe it's my love for everything University of Oregon the culture, the pride, the legacy. Or maybe it's just the way this place sits in Eugene like it belongs there, like it's earned its keep. But this visit hit different. We'd been out the night before one of those reckless, laugh-too-hard, probably-made-a-few-bad-decisions kind of nights. I woke up feeling like absolute trash. The kind of morning where your body is negotiating terms just to sit upright. But instead of folding, I dragged myself out to Hayward Field. And I ran. Not pretty. Not fast. Just honest. A few laps turned into more. Sweat started pouring, lungs opened up, and somewhere between the pain and the rhythm, something shifted. It was like the bad decisions from the night before were getting wrung out of me, step by step. A full-on purge. I'll be real there was a moment I thought I might throw up right there on sacred ground. But then the endorphins hit. And just like that I was back. Energy. Clarity. Fire. It brought me back to the last time I was here for the Eugene Marathon. That race... man. Grinding up hills, coasting through valleys, pushing through every doubt you've got and then finally coming back into Hayward Field. You hear your name, see your time, get that medal placed around your neck... it's more than a finish line. It's a moment you carry with you. This place is known as TrackTown, USA for a reason. It's hosted Olympic Trials, world-class competitions, and some of the best athletes to ever lace up a pair of running shoes. But beyond all the accolades, records, and history... it's personal. Because yeah I love the wild nights, the stories, the chaos. But places like this remind you of something just as important: take care of yourself. Move your body. Earn your breath.
