Greetings Fairgoers! StevO reporting for KWTF Traffic in the…read moreGreater OCF area Porta potties have been making their debut in the neighborhood with many thanks from the local Great Unwashed. The arrival of 45,000 visitors has created huge lakes of vehicles in private fields and overwhelmed our local cell tower for our population of 5,000. Signal can be quite sketchy at times. Some travelers have been spotted in the local hardware store looking for bug spray. Some shopkeepers are leaving the shelves of deodorant, soap and mouthwash unlocked in hopes of petty theft. The early morning hours brought us a traffic jam on Hwy 126. Traffic was stalled from the gates of the fair all the way to Fern Ridge Reservoir. Even THIS exceptional reporter had to lay on the horn to prevent someone trying to pass me on the sidewalk in the only intersection in town. The lights became meaningless as vehicles were stopped in the middle of the intersection during light changes. Suttle Rd traffic has slowed significantly but is still manageable. New to the 'Fair Outside the Fair' this year are 25mph radar speed signs hanging over the standard 45mph placards on both Suttle and Territorial. This makes for a nice diversion and a good opportunity to calibrate your speedometer at 55mph, one can't be too sure.. On the lighter side.... This afternoon gave us a highly decorated madman with water pistols jumping out in the road and squirting cars, let's just hope it was water and that he can dodge in case a local shoots back. On Eastbound 126 there was a 3 wheel scooter speeding down the bicycle lane. Lucky for them there was one of Veneta's finest on that side of the road only too happy to celebrate this event with flashy lights! The intersection at Suttle and Territorial is once again turning into a game of Vehicle Mosh Pit as you see many sticker laden vehicles that are obviously low on blinker fluid. StevO signing off for KWTF Traffic, reminding everyone to stay cool and use sunscreen.

This may be a fine venue for performances, but accessibility for the disabled is an afterthought. A…read morevery late afterthought. Is it technically ADA compliant? Probably. Barely. When you arrive from the south (as we did) you are met with a giant staircase to enter. Turns out there is a ramp on the north side. You wouldn't know that though, as there is nary a sign to be seen. Once you go around the building you can get in. There are metal detectors. They're sort of unattended though, or at least the people working them are far on the other side. What's a wheelchair to do? We tried getting someone's attention and eventually they irritatedly told us to just go through. We did. Not sure what kind of metal detectors those are supposed to be when the fully metal wheelchair didn't set them off. Now... our tickets are on the mezzanine. How do we get there? Lots of stairs.... No signs for an elevator. Had to ask around. There is one- way around the corner. It's small, old, and slow. But we got there. No bathrooms on the mezzanine though. Too bad for us. Then, after the show... the elevator.... There's a sign telling able bodied people to take the stairs.... But they don't. They just look at us sheep faced as they come down from the higher balconies packed full so we can't get in. No attendant or anything, no staff member to tell them no, so... us folx with wheelchairs and canes and walkers, we just wait for all the able bodies to get down. (And of course not all disabilities are visible. But their eyes told us their guilt.) We were there to see Tig Notaro. I think she'd be ashamed of some of her fans. And the venue. Do better.

I sat in Row C so I was fairly close to the front. This venue does offer some snacks as well as drinks for purchase. The drink prices were about average for when you go to a venue. There is plenty of restaurant options nearby as well as a couple hotels to stay at if you're out of town like me.

This was a fun festival and a great excuse to come to Eugene. I wasn't sure what to expect, except…read morelots of mushrooms, and this Festival certainly delivered. I would definitely recommend getting here before the festival starts, because parking was tricky even though we got there in the first hour that it opened. It was also raining, so I imagine that it's even more crowded when it's sunny. There's some fun mushroom food vendors, and a few places to get mushroom soup. You can get mushrooms on other things, although I recommend getting the food early because the lines do get long. There are also food options that don't include mushrooms, so if you're not much of a mushroom fan, there's something for you too. There's a few vendors here too so you can buy some trinkets or accessories if needed, some with mushrooms and some not. You could spend an hour or several here depending on how long you wanted to stay, if you want to do the mushroom walks, and if you want to listen to music. The Hall of mushrooms was lots of fun too, and I never realized just how many varieties there were. I liked how they're mushroom experts that we could ask questions too If you have a membership I highly recommend coming here, but even for the non-member ticket price it's not too bad.

Well, the answer isn't yes, it's HELL YES!!!! This is a fundraiser for the arobretum. The arboretum is awesome too. Go often. You'll love it. The scarecrow contest is always a hoot. There's a bunch of booths from non-profits that you can support. There's a mushroom identification booth so you can have someone look at what you're not sure about. There's a booth with common edible mushrooms and their look-alikes so you can get better at identification. There's books, posters, and T-shirts available for purchase, all of which support the arboretum. Oh. Yeah. There's that mushroom soup. Oh. My. Goodness. You must get it. The price tag looks high, but it's also a fundraiser. It's made by Holy Cow, and they only make this soup one day of the year. Go get yours. You won't regret it. William O. Sullivan is always there selling his awesome books. Local artists have mushroom related art for sale. There's mushroom growing kits from some local companies. What's not to love? There's live music. There's guided nature hikes. There's even a hay ride if you're in to that kind of thing. I will see you there next year.

Due to the price and the selection of breweries this is excellent value for your money. The popcorn was also 1 ticket and there were many food vendors to pick from.
