When you arrive from the south (as we did) you are met with a giant staircase to enter. Turns out there is a ramp on the north side. You wouldn't know that though, as there is nary a sign to be seen. Once you go around the building you can get in. There are metal detectors. They're sort of unattended though, or at least the people working them are far on the other side. What's a wheelchair to do? We tried getting someone's attention and eventually they irritatedly told us to just go through. We did. Not sure what kind of metal detectors those are supposed to be when the fully metal wheelchair didn't set them off. Now... our tickets are on the mezzanine. How do we get there? Lots of stairs.... No signs for an elevator. Had to ask around. There is one- way around the corner. It's small, old, and slow. But we got there. No bathrooms on the mezzanine though. Too bad for us. Then, after the show... the elevator.... There's a sign telling able bodied people to take the stairs.... But they don't. They just look at us sheep faced as they come down from the higher balconies packed full so we can't get in. No attendant or anything, no staff member to tell them no, so... us folx with wheelchairs and canes and walkers, we just wait for all the able bodies to get down. (And of course not all disabilities are visible. But their eyes told us their guilt.) We were there to see Tig Notaro. I think she'd be ashamed of some of her fans. And the venue. Do better.

I sat in Row C so I was fairly close to the front. This venue does offer some snacks as well as drinks for purchase. The drink prices were about average for when you go to a venue. There is plenty of restaurant options nearby as well as a couple hotels to stay at if you're out of town like me.

First was Circle Mirror Transformation and most recently, Avenue Q. Avenue Q was hilarious! It is a sold out show even after adding additional performances. They are working on building their new, larger theatre so the current theatre they are in is very small. However is is a very quaint and intimate venue! I'm glad I got out of the house and shopping malls and experienced some real talent from passionate actors and actresses.

The arena doesn't have great acoustics for a concert. The seats seems a little too sloped, so I got the feeling like I was going to pitch forward when I needed to stand for people trying to get in and out. Parking is a nightmare, as there isn't enough venue parking available, necessitating having to park a mile away in the residential areas and walking (if it's raining, which happens in Oregon from time to time, you are doomed). For the women's game, this place is a disaster. It was quick to get scanned in and the woman we asked about the General Admission seating was helpful. The lady handling the elevator was very nice. Then my youngest and my two 70+ year old folks ventured to find our seats. When you buy General Admission tickets, you are not notified that you aren't actually getting an assigned seat, even though the tickets list a section, a row, and seat numbers. That's a lie. If you work (like me) and can't get to the game 30 minutes early, you may not get a seat. Lots of people had to stand, which makes NO sense. At football games, you can pay significantly less for standing room tickets. Here, you may or may not have to stand, but you pay just as much to stand as you do to possibly sit. It's BS. So we looked and looked in various sections, often finding jerks who had jackets on empty seats. When asked if we could sit there, they were always being saved. We asked attendants what we were supposed to do and they told us to talk to the ticket office and walked away. What are they there for!? To be a-holes to guests? Finally, 8 minutes into the 1st quarter that we missed, we found two seats and my mom and youngest took them. I was able to find one by itself in front of them. My 72 year old dad? He had to stand. Was there another open seat? Sure. There were two old guys in front of me that wouldn't give up the seat in-between them. When I asked an attendant that walked by if they could make them give up that seat, they told the guy that they were saving it for a friend (that never showed up apparently, because they both rested their elbows on the empty seat the entire time) and the attendant walked away. Again, what are they there for? They don't DO anything! My dad ultimately watched the game from the top of the stairs. We had an OK time, but we were really close to paying $250 for 4 "seats" to a basketball where we all could have been standing the entire time. I'm fairly pissed about it. Standing room only tickets should be $5. If you buy a ticket and it gives you a section, row, and seat number, you should HAVE a seat to sit in. Combine that with zero parking and employees who don't DO anything, and I don't have any desire to attend another game. It is a real shame, because I would like to support Oregon athletics, but greedy people who oversell and put profits over providing a great atmosphere and experience make it nearly impossible.

I am impressed with this community theater. It's very well laid out. The stage has nice curtains…read moreand lighting, along with decent space for the performers to practice their craft. The facility's ambience has a modern feel to it, and it is completely wheelchair accessible with easy access to seating and exits. The audience seating is steeply angled to provide a clear view of the stage, and the chairs are comfortable. The restrooms are clean and well maintained. I look forward to seeing more performances here.

The University of Oregon has a great theatre program and turns out some really well done…read moreperformances in the recently renovated Miller Theatre Complex, easily accessible from E. 11th Avenue, just between Kincaid and Franklin Blvd. I'm surprised that more people, UO students included, don't know about the UT. I have seen several shows there and have enjoyed the variety of titles and styles of plays performed, the wonderful talent of the student actors, creative talents of the set designers and costumers, and skill of the lighting and sound technicians. The Robinson Theatre offers a traditional theatre with great seats and great visibility and sound. The smaller Hope Theatre is a flexible-space venue whose setup changes with each show, and can be configured in a variety of ways which creates a unique theatre experience for patrons. The spacious lobby offers leather couches and ottomans, displays to peruse at intermission, affordable concessions, and several accessible restrooms. This season, UO students can get free tickets to any UT show! Why wasn't this around when I was in school? Tickets can be bought at the door, or (recommended) ahead of time online or at the EMU box office 541-346-4363.
