As a person who is gluten-free and tries to avoid sweets and alcohol there really wasn't anything at concessions for me. I'm grateful that this is not a place that refuses to allow you to bring your own snacks and water. The room with concessions also has merch (like band t-shirts). I overheard someone say that during the show if you attempt to go down the stairs from the balcony (like to get to concessions) the stair way is completely pitch black and hazardous.

Well, that's a little incorrect; they were around…read morewhen I was in middle and high school, but as a summer program or resident company at the Hult Center known as OFAM, the Oregon Festival of American Music. Until this past weekend, I hadn't been to a program at their own year-round space that's been here for 25 years or so now. (But I don't feel too bad about that since my sister, who's lived here all her life, has only been once.) Anyway, I brought my toddler to their Magical Moombah show, which is designed specifically for children. We had a lot of fun! It was held in the Jacqua concert hall. The show was kind of variety/vaudeville in style; this one was called Come Sail Away, and it had a loose story made up that was connected by pre-existing songs that matched the theme. There were several time when they invited the kids up to participate--a dance party on stage, a couple of joke breaks, a contest or two, and more. It was a great way to let the kids be involved, and even the littlest kids had an opportunity to join in (my two year old was insistent on making her stage debut, though I think she was a bit shy when she was up there dancing with everyone). They hold this program each quarter and I'll definitely be looking for it next time we're home to visit. They also host concerts, musicals, and other programming. There are a couple of performance spaces, the concert hall being the main one and then recital space. The Shedd is also home to a music school, which seems to take place in the newer wing, where students can take private or group lessons. I will say that their website is really frustrating--almost every link would take me to their calendar, even if I was clicking on Faculty or Welcome--so I'm not sure what that's about so I'd suggest just calling if you have questions. There's a fee if you purchase tickets online (and maybe if you purchase in person with a credit card); in person with cash there's no fee. They have a good parking arrangement with the city that allows for free parking on evenings and weekends in the Lane County lot. There's also parking directly behind their north entrance (I'm not sure if that's the city lot or not, but I don't think so). The lot we parked in was kind of frustrating because almost every spot was marked as compact, and in the year 2026 even in Eugene most people have an SUV or minivan or something, and places just need to stop making most of their parking for compact cars. Some fun facts: Ginevra Ralph, who co-founded the Shedd, is the great-granddaughter of John G. Shedd (namesake of Chicago's Shedd Aquarium in addition to this performing arts center). The Shedd is located in what was once the First Baptist Church in Eugene, one of the largest in the city if not the largest at the time. Also, Marin Alsop, a conductor of international renown, was the co-conducted the Eugene Symphony and the Oregon Festival of American Music early in her career. The Shedd really does have a storied history and lots of great things to come.

When you arrive there is merch on one side…read moreand a bar/beer garden on the other, then a couple of porta potties including a handicap one, and then a huge flight of stairs to get to most of the park. There must have been an elevator but it wasn't obvious to my eyes. I took a lot of photos of food options, because if you have a more restricted diet you might want to know what's available before you go. I did not get a shot of every menu but I got most. Or course it may vary from time to time. I was happy to see that Peek A Book Delight was there, and was able to get a cup of mango slices with seasonings like chamoy and lime. You can get peanuts for $3 and Prince Puckler's ice cream. The stadium itself just has one main screen and there were no instant replays during the game, but they did have those fun and silly fan games in between innings that were sponsored by various local businesses. The park being outside got chilly at night but the restroom was warm. There was a couch in the women's room. Note that they have a clear bag policy and if you have a prepaid ticket to park in the East Lot, the entrance is at MLK Way and Kinsrow. Google maps took me to the wrong place and I had to drive a bit to figure out where I was supposed to go as the signage was not so good.

PK Park is the home stadium of the UO Ducks baseball team, and shared with the Ems during their…read moreseason. PK Park is not very old--baseball only returned to the university as a NCAA sport about 15 years ago. Most of the donations came from a prior athletic director, whose initials for the name of the ballpark. It's small but mighty, with a total capacity of about 4,000. There are suites, a picnic area, and so on. We walked all the way to the other side of the stadium and down to ground level to the only merch booth that exists in the stadium and they had one toddler shirt. That was a bummer. I was really hoping to find at least a couple options between which to choose, and would have liked to find their Monarcas gear in something that wasn't a jersey (I'd like to wear it as an everyday shirt, and the only times I've ever worn a jersey--which I can count on one hand--was at an actual baseball game); even better if they'd had children's monarcas gear. Some of the food was ok and rather reasonably priced. We were able to get a hot dog and corn dog for about $4 each--go to one of the "regular" concession stands, not the one with fancier items, where you would see a footlong hot dog for $17. They had some nachos that looked tasty, but we skipped them this time. The favorite was the cotton candy. Even my sister remarked on how good it was, because it actually tasted like raspberry (or whatever flavor it was supposed to have), and often cotton candy doesn't really have much of a flavor. It was also only $8 and I was expecting it would be higher than that. Whew, a price break. Parking is plentiful. I think it was $2? You have to pay by card only as they don't accept cash. The line at the ticket booth was really long and it took my sister 15-20 minutes to get tickets, so probably better to buy online if you can. And if you have an "oversized bag", apparently you're required to enter through the south entrance even though there's nothing indicating that (nor what an "oversized bag" is, so check the website to see if there are actual details on it).

This museum is excellent -& I admit, I've been misrepresenting it. Pre Covid I went to a show and was deeply underwhelmed.This past weekend while visiting, I ran into an acquaintance and we both commented "did they change something? Wasn't this kind of a meh experience before?" Maybe they got the bigger Schnitzer collection out? New curators? I don't know what happened but it was GREAT. New works are top notch Japanese & Korean collections are small but stellar Contemporary & modern North American artists very broad and high quality choices. Single user bathroom on the second floor also a big winner as is the elevator and the tiny but compelling gift shop. Kudos all around (Wish the cute cafe would open back up. Fingers still crossed)

When you arrive from the south (as we did) you are met with a giant staircase to enter. Turns out there is a ramp on the north side. You wouldn't know that though, as there is nary a sign to be seen. Once you go around the building you can get in. There are metal detectors. They're sort of unattended though, or at least the people working them are far on the other side. What's a wheelchair to do? We tried getting someone's attention and eventually they irritatedly told us to just go through. We did. Not sure what kind of metal detectors those are supposed to be when the fully metal wheelchair didn't set them off. Now... our tickets are on the mezzanine. How do we get there? Lots of stairs.... No signs for an elevator. Had to ask around. There is one- way around the corner. It's small, old, and slow. But we got there. No bathrooms on the mezzanine though. Too bad for us. Then, after the show... the elevator.... There's a sign telling able bodied people to take the stairs.... But they don't. They just look at us sheep faced as they come down from the higher balconies packed full so we can't get in. No attendant or anything, no staff member to tell them no, so... us folx with wheelchairs and canes and walkers, we just wait for all the able bodies to get down. (And of course not all disabilities are visible. But their eyes told us their guilt.) We were there to see Tig Notaro. I think she'd be ashamed of some of her fans. And the venue. Do better.

I sat in Row C so I was fairly close to the front. This venue does offer some snacks as well as drinks for purchase. The drink prices were about average for when you go to a venue. There is plenty of restaurant options nearby as well as a couple hotels to stay at if you're out of town like me.

DIVA is a sprawling corner space downtown with five distinct galleries highlighting different…read moreartists and styles on a rotating basis. There are two showcase galleries on Olive St. that can be seen from the street and this is what drew me and the family in yesterday. I've walked by the space quite a few times but this was the first time there was something interesting enough to go in and check out. The artist style combined eclectic junk items loosely related like fishing poles, lures, line and chicken wire cabinet compiled into a montage of sorts that looked like a piece furniture made out of your grandpas toolshed. Anyway it was visually intriguing enough to get us inside on one of the most beautiful days in Eugene. I'm not sure how someone would display this in their home but it was engaging in the gallery setting. There were some other interesting exhibits and the folks volunteering at the front were helpful enough. I've read in the Guard they are conducting capital campaign to redo the space and I hope it goes well because they are an asset to downtown that could use a serious remodel. I'll probably go back if there is another interesting artist displayed out front.

I am impressed with this community theater. It's very well laid out. The stage has nice curtains…read moreand lighting, along with decent space for the performers to practice their craft. The facility's ambience has a modern feel to it, and it is completely wheelchair accessible with easy access to seating and exits. The audience seating is steeply angled to provide a clear view of the stage, and the chairs are comfortable. The restrooms are clean and well maintained. I look forward to seeing more performances here.
