Absolutely the worst alarm place to exist. Their customer service is terrible. I have called them multiple times to take the alarm system out and every time is some bull excuse why they cannot take it out. It's gone off multiple times where we finally had to clip the wires. The customer service lady was terrible telling me that they can send me to an emergency line that will BILL ME for after hours. Why should I be billed for a system that hasn't been used in years, is going off randomly, and now that I need help that your system messing up on and you didn't remove it??? No, I hung up. WORD OF CAUTION! If you have been a long time Matson Alarm customer I would suggest you test your system, connectivity and contract. We had a recent break-in at our business which was "supposedly" protected by Matson Alarm. Come to find out that they hadn't been receiving signal from our equipment "for quite some time." They couldn't tell me when the last time they received signal was, nor did they ever reach out to check. Yet they continue to collect my monthly service fee!!!! We never had a rep come out when they were purchased by another company, nor has anyone ever reached out to even see if we should upgrade. We have had service since 2018! If I could give zero stars, I would. This company is the definition of unprofessional. I received a bill two weeks before they sent me to collections -- with no warning, no courtesy call, absolutely nothing. Just straight to collections, damaging my credit over an account I would've paid immediately had I known there was an issue. They clearly don't value their customers, and instead seem more interested in squeezing money through shady practices than providing any real service. Avoid this company at all costs. There are plenty of alarm companies out there that actually communicate with their customers and operate with basic decency. When I called today, the man I talk to says he doesn't know what happened. I said I need to make sure it's cleared. He said oh i will void this bill. I said can you please explain what this bill was for a service call after hours mind you they were at my house that week. It would not stop going off so I called to see how to fix the problem that they didn't fix. I don't know what has happened to this company over the past few years but it's gone to shit. We sold our home and was told by account representative Ilene that the alarm system would be turned off, (our account closed) on April 7th. That is 30 days away and the new owners are in possession of the home. There is no utility company that insists on a 30 day wait time, Matson Alarm is doing their customers a disservice by establishing such a ridiculous term. I would highly NOT recommend using them. They nickel and dime you for every issue that arises even when the issue is their fault. Matson Alarm used to be the best alarm monitoring company it Fresno. Then, the owner, who built the company, retired and sold it. The comoany that ourchased it with all of its customers is huge and no longer local. Now it is the worst alarm company. I'm switching all of my buildings to Turner. Here is the problem. 1) you no longer get a human on the phone when they call you or when you call them. 2) they no longer have a quick response time. 3) they will call at 4 or 5 in the morning for something as simple as a low battery, with no break-in indicated at all. I really don't like being woken up at 4am for no reason. And after clearing the call they call right back 15 minutes later for the same thing. Again, all automated and no human. It makes it so every time the alarm company calls I don't think it's anything to worry about. Regardless, I am now free from Matson Alarm for good. Since Matson sold the business, our monitoring rates have increased substantially, without any change in service. I'm not sure how the new owners can justify these repeated rate increases, without notice, and without any upgrades in service. I understand that businesses are costly to run, but what's the justification? Have you raised your employees pay, are you paying more for insurance or rent? No explanation whatsoever, just raised the monthly rate. As a result, I am shopping around for a new alarm company. read more

Beware of requesting service from Matson Alarm. On one request, I requested an adjustment on one of my cameras. Tech sent out, says "These cameras cannot be adjusted, I don't know why they issued this order." They billed me $100.00. They could have just called and advised no adjustment can be done. I disputed bill. Did not pay. Second issue, needed a camera moved.They charged a "Trip charge - commercial $120.00", plus a "Service Labor $150.00". I can see the labor,but a trip charge! I was initially surprised about my recent treatment by Matson, but now I can see [from the reviews I've just read], that they have truly gone downhill since the change of ownership. We have been with Matson for 20 plus years and had always felt they were watchful and competent. When we sold our longtime residence and attempted to discontinue service there, we were quite surprised at the complete lack of customer service. There is no one in the office who knows how to properly speak to a customer. They instructed us to jump through a couple of hoops, and unfortunately we failed to perform as they demanded, so we kept getting a bill for monitoring an alarm we no longer use. A call to the accounting department that should have rectified the situation turned into a frustrating mess. We were informed that we had not cancelled properly, so an additional sum was owed. So, after half a dozen phone calls I was able to determine that our cancellation is indefinate - maybe or maybe not. Now I am left with paying for a service that I have not used for several months, and the prospect of talking to a very caustic accounting office once again to effect a permanent cancellation. I would like to stop paying these people, but they want me to continue. Save yourself a lot of frustration and go with a different company who knows the meaning of customer service. I am a longtime business owner and have been on both sides of the customer service equation. It is always a give and take. Management: Showing a bit of empathy and respect to a frustrated customer would go a long way toward keeping your customers! I will not be back. read more

I've been a customer for a couple of years and noticed today they raised my rate without notifying me. I'm already over paying and was fine with it because I believed there was quality to the rate I was paying but I'll definitely be looking elsewhere now. I've been concerned for the past couple of months because I noticed they stopped calling me for alarm trips and are impossible to get a hold of. Terrible service. I requested cameras and a security system that was installed last year. They butchered my walls, trying to install wiring to a plug on the opposite side when there was a plug on the same wall. The camera antennas were cut because they "didn't fit." They came out and changed the cameras out, which still were worthless because they picked up nothing except 2 feet from door and garage. Called out to cancel and remove cameras. They said it would be a courtesy to come out and test the alarm system, then charged me $150.00 for this courtesy appointment. They refused to fix unauthorized billing and can't cancel without their cancelation form, which they have failed to send. I am totally livid that I can't even get anyone to call me back and correct all of their errors! Stay away. read more

If it was possible, the rating would be negative 10 stars. We've been customers for over 7 years and for the first 5 we were happy with their customer service. Although we had some minor problems last year, the problems exploded this year. Usually, when the sensor batteries begin going out, I schedule a service call to have all the batteries changed. About a week after that, some of the sensors began to show a low battery again, prompting another service call. Fast forward, and all in all we had to call 5 times for faulty sensors. To add insult to injury, the technicians either no-showed or came hours late. Finally I called and asked to talk to the manager. Surprise, surprise--no call back. Don't make the mistake of signing a contract with these guys!!! read more

I am so fed up with Matson Alarm. They say they will return my calls. They don't. They were supposed to fix my SkyBell. They didn't. I sold my house and called to let them know, the "cancellation specialist" told me I needed to get on line, find the cancellation form, print it, fill it out, send it back to them, and then 30 days after they receive it and process it they will stop billing me. I told her that was a ridiculous process. She said, "Fine, don't do it. We will just keep billing you". I was appalled. I would recommend never using Matson! read more

This has got to be one of the most frustrating companies to call for anything. If you're shopping around for an alarm company, save yourself some hassle and call another company. I have spent all afternoon trying to reach someone in the service department. Not a single person answers the phone anymore, and you are forced to leave a message or your callback number (which in my case was received as "potential spam" and forwarded to voicemail, and still I wait for a call back) even when prompted to just wait on the line. God forbid I had an actual alarm going off. This company is no longer family owned, and just another large corporation at this point. You're better off with ADT. read more

Since the business was sold, they have been unresponsive, their tech-support nonexistent, their business office will not return calls, and to cancel the service they will charge you for the entire contract. I've been a happy customer of Matson Alarm for over 10 years and very little need to contact them. So I was surprised to hear they are under new ownership as of last month and I see some changes that prompted me to call. Also I needed service on my system. The technician although very kind I didn't quite understand what he was doing. I can't even explain it. Apparently my system is too old and something something I couldn't follow him but finally rescheduled due to parts he needed to order. He gave me a price and it willl only take 30 minutes. He arrives at our next visit and can't remember why he's at my home. Since he doesn't know why he's here he didn't pick up the parts he ordered to complete the job so he leaves and returns. He tells me he's scheduled to be here 3 hours (What happened to 30 minutes)! Exactly 3 hrs he's done rushing out the door but the system is not connecting to my phone app and I can't confirm it's fixed but he's done and left! I get the invoice for this service and it's double the amount he quoted. I called the billing department and they adjusted the invoice. I hope this is not the new way of business with Matson. read more

OMG! So much yip yap from a tech they sent out to fix yet ANOTHER problem with their alarm system! This dude spent literally 10 minutes fixing the alarm and held us up for an hour or so just yapping about everything under the sun, down to the type of cat food his friends fed their cats, totally irrelevant to the actual job he was there to do. Not recommended! I'd give 0 stars. We received notifications of our alarm going off, weeks before our system was even installed. Communication is poor and the installer was only here for half of the project. We wanted cameras also and there was no ETA communicated. Then later, they scheduled for 3 weeks out. The installer that was here said that he "Did not want to do our install." It is a big home with stairs and he struggled climbing stairs. "House is too big, attics are too small." He does not like his job. Poor customer service. He got someone on the phone and they didn't want to talk to us because they were too busy. Unprofessional. Installer didn't have all supplies needed and he also didn't know what he needed. We asked that they're remove all items from our home! Our family recommends going with another company. I had been a happy customer of Matson Alarm for 2.5 years. Then we added a room, so I had someone from Matson Alarm come out to extend the border of our alarm sensors to cover the new room. He told me I had two choices--wired or wireless--and I said I wanted the less expensive one. I asked him how much that would be, and he said he didn't know, but he would install the less expensive option, and I'm sure he did that. A few days later, the bill arrived, and it was $653. I would never have let them install anything if they had told me it was going to cost that much. I'm retired and living on Social Security and savings. When I signed up 2.5 years ago, they gave me free installation, and now they charge me $653 to add one room on the plan. They should have warned me with at least a "ballpark" estimate for how much the new labor and materials would cost, but they didn't. When I complained, they reduced my bill by $100. So I paid $553, because they did the work, but I am very unhappy about this. All of this is in addition to the monthly cost of being their customer. Unhappy in Fresno read more

Be prepared to spend 90 dollars more or less for any employee having to drive to your house. That's apart from around 80 per hour for the time spent at your house I did buy my surveillance from them and paid nearly 200 to have a new camera put on when one camera malfunctioned. The cameras they install are from some other company in another state. Since repair was done I no longer have the surveillance on my phone. The gal was nice tried to help me over the phone but wasn't able to. Now she said prices have gone up and I would have to pay 90 dollars for their employee to drive 5 miles to get to my house and then I believe 80! dollars per hour to try to put surveillance back on my phone. They've said the company cheats people, customers are charged for monitoring but aren't being monitored. Crappy sales, service and monitoring. Make sure your alarm comes in a brand new box. My company has used Matson for over 17 years. We have used them for 5 homes that require annual testing as well as the monitoring. The have done all our alarm repairs and service for the entire time we have been in business. Two years ago we moved and had same alarm as in existing homes installed. 6 months ago I met with Matson Jr. I requested the same alarm in our existing accounts specifically the one we had just had installed. He said no problem. I signed a contract. I do not know the name of each piece of equipment but trusted as a long time existing customer Micheal could at the least look at our existing systems so I signed without fully knowing the technical details. I let them know the mistake was costing me thousand of dollars a month. After several back and forth plans were approved 6 months after beginning of install. Plans were approved august 2 and was I notified or given install date NO I had to call and matson himself put the install date august 30. For a mistake they had made they made no attempt to rectify the situation no urgency to complete the job that was costing me thousands and no apology for their mistake. Found these guys with a top rating on the Better Business Bureau website. From the best we can gather, this is the only place in Fresno that does it all (installation AND monitoring). Some companies will install the equipment but lease the monitoring service elsewhere (Linkus, Safeco) while others monitor themselves but have authorized dealers install the equipment (ADT, Braodview). This runs the risk of confusion in the event of a false alarm/event (who's at fault? the company who installed it or the company monitoring) We felt more comfortable to have everything under one company and have been pleased with the customer service. We accidentally tripped the alarm in the middle of the night and there was a phone call within 15 seconds - we were very impressed with the response time. read more

I have matson for my home alarm. I have always had great customer service over the phone. One of the technicians that came to my house didnt do a great job but they took care of it. All large alarm companies have some good and bad technicians in my experience but the difference is in how they handle the problems. I have had Matson for about two years. I really never need them but recently they called because there was a signal that there was an issue. The company sent a wonderful, friendly service person, Kevin, to help and he determined that a battery was bad. I asked about replacing all batteries so I didn't have to worry about others going bad. Kevin offered to do all of the batteries right then but had to go buy more due to the number of batteries needed. He spent all this time with us to take care of us (seemed like an hour or so as he had to go buy more batteries). The end result is that I would be charged only for the batteries but not for all his time. Matson, you and Kevin earned my continued respect and thanks. read more

Dear Lord, no. I just called to inquire about installing an alarm system at my house. Read Yelp reviews to discover that to get an alarm, you must to commit to a three-year term, which then automatically renews to a two-year term if you do not call to request a month to month term at the conclusion of the three years. I called back to clarify, spoke with Sarah, asked if this was true, she confirmed it was, and when I stated that she should not have her sales representative call me because that would not work for me, she promptly hung up on me mid-sentence. I did not even have time to get the words out. Good times. Thank you, Yelp, for helping me avoid these guys. Editor's Note: (1) I was not disconnected multiple times or even one time with Sarah. The moment I stated that I was not interested in having a sales representative contact me because of the three year term with an automatic two year renewal, Sarah audibly groaned and hung up on me. There were no other disconnections. "Katie W"'s attempts to characterize what occurred do not change what occurred. (2) I was informed that the security system comes with a mandatory three-year contract with an automatic two year renewal and then the sales representative hung up on me when I stated I was not interested in proceeding due to that term. If they offer "customized systems and agreements based on [their] customer's individual needs", that's great, but I was informed on the phone that there was no option but a three year term, with the two year automatic renewal. You might want to have your sales team affirmatively inform customers that such an onerous requirement is merely one option, not mandatory, as I was informed. read more

Salesman lied, and said that they provide armed response. They spent 8 hours installing a wireless system, and couldn't get the cameras working. They forgot to put senser on the back door, so it has to be bypassed before it can be armed. Motion sensors picked up my 15 pound pets, and set off alarm the first time we used it in away mode.
