I don't normally write negative reviews, but my experience with Clovis Heating and Cooling was so frustrating that I feel obligated to warn others. I was assigned this company through American Home Shield to diagnose an issue with my AC unit. During the visit, the technician told me the system needed refrigerant and explained that my home warranty policy would only cover $10 per pound. I told them I wanted to do some research before approving any additional charges. That's when the real problem started. The phone number listed for the company appears to go straight to voicemail, and despite multiple calls during the hours they instructed me to call, I never received a callback. After repeated failed attempts to reach them, I contacted American Home Shield and requested a different contractor because I could not get anyone from Clovis Heating and Cooling to respond. I was then informed by American Home Shield that Clovis Heating and Cooling had already closed my claim and classified it as a pre-existing condition. This was shocking, especially considering I had been actively trying to contact them and had received no communication explaining that decision. In the end, I paid for a service visit, got no meaningful follow-up, couldn't reach anyone at the company, and had my claim closed without any discussion. The lack of communication and customer service was unacceptable. If you're considering using this company, be prepared for unanswered calls, unreturned voicemails, and a potentially frustrating experience. They are contracted with American Home Shield, so I didn't get to pick them. They told the warranty company that someone messed with the thermostat wiring (which is impossible as no one touched our thermostat since the contractor put it in several years ago), so the company will not cover any repair. Tried to schedule for them to do the repair so i wouldn't have to pay another company to assess, but they never answer the phone or respond to voicemails. If you have the option to choose someone else, do it. This company is awful. read more

The owner or secretary of this dump spoke to me like a child and said "hmm if the thermostat says 76 degrees but you're body feels hotter....what is the logical reason?" as I'm trying to schedule his technician out for the third time to attempt to fix my ac. Then told me to call American Home Shield warranty to ask them for a different service provider for my request Also a previous comment said that the technician didn't go in the attic....mine didn't either. This company did not answer or return any calls or voicemails over a four day period. Even American Home warranty tried calling them four times and no answers or return calls. Thus, my family had to be without AC over that time because AHS had to go thru their protocols in letting this company have time to try and respond to the work order I understand these companies are busy but the least that can be done is convey that with a return call. Used AHS came out once tried to leave before wife got home heater stopped working again 17 days later and now it's out again. All they do is clean with a brush and tighten screws no tools to check on specific parts not sure if I even saw a tool belt I do know they used my ladder. read more

They have been out to my house several times under our home warranty to repair our AC. In almost every repair, they have had to come back multiple times to re-fix the problem that they slapped a bandaid on the first time. I have spent over $3k in refrigerants because they "fixed" a leak and put $700 worth of refrigerants in, only to have them back a week or two later with the next "fix" and an additional $700 in refrigerant... The only form of compensation they offered for their constant failures on my AC was to give me a small discount on the next $700 refrigerant I needed to get the system running. read more

You don't always get great contractors through your home warranty, but you do with this company. Trent is punctual, hard-working, knowledgeable and responsive. I've hired Trent on two separate occasions: 1) the replacement of an old HVAC system using the old Freon/legacy components and 2) when the HVAC breaker was shorted due to dirty/tightly-grouped coils - nothing like watching your Nest in failure when it's 105 here in the Valley! Every appointment I've had with Trent he's usually within ~20min of the appointment time, when/if he's running late he uses both a scheduling system and his own phone to inform the customer. The replacement/test of my entire HVAC system only took a few hours, I was surprised how efficient this team is. I've worked with some contractors that are very condescending when it comes to customer's asking questions, but not with Trent. He's very patient and present when I/we are trying to understanding what the issue is, often diving into details and ensuring that I understand. This is HUGE for me. I circumvent my home warranty now and call Trent directly. He's definitely my go-to for HVAC maintenance and repair (and education). read more

I have no idea what is going on with these guys. They were sent by my home warranty company like many others, and the initial appointment was set up properly and quickly by them 2 days after the claim was put in. They showed up on time and quickly diagnosed the problem as the compressor being failed. He was friendly and explained the issue, and due to being at the highest level at my home warranty company everything was covered including the refrigerant replacement. I was told it should be around 5-10 days at most for the part to come in. As of now it has been 41 days since I first put in the ticket. I have personally called Clovis Heating and Cooling and left voice mails many times at all times of the day to try to get an update from them. I am not really sure why they have a phone number as they do not actually return phone calls. This is the main issue with them. They will not answer the phone, ever, for me, or for the home warranty company. I am not sure if their phone number is just out of date or what is going on. I was told by AHS that the part was sent out to them, but no one can confirm if they received it yet but them, and they do not answer phone calls and have never came back. This morning the work order was marked as "Completed" even though they have not done any additional work or fixed the problem. So it went from a good initial impression to them just vanishing from the face of the earth with a part they ordered for my unit. I do not need hand holding from them, but asking for a simple status update even once a week says we are still waiting for the part would have been great. They also should just turn off the phone number at 559-578-4080 and prevent it from receiving incoming calls if they do not plan to answer or return voice mails. Edit: Additional information as of 7/15. The same day I left the review I did get called back, though that was unrelated to the review. I was told that the case was closed because "The customer canceled the part order so I must not have needed the service anymore". Note that I never canceled a part order, as I have nothing to do with the part or would not even know how to cancel it. Also, if they communicated and returned or answered calls they would have known that. I got ahold of AHS and AHS told me that the manufacturer of the part said that I canceled the part order, which is insanity, as I have zero visibility into who the manufacturer was, or even where it was ordered from. I reopened the ticket, and they placed the part order again. It has now been weeks and I am still waiting for a new part to be delivered to Clovis Heating and Cooling and for the work to be done. They still do not answer phone calls from me or from AHS so I have no way to know if they have received the part yet. In subsequent calls to AHS one of their support agents let it leak that the first part was canceled because the ticket had taken too long, which is NOT clovis Heating and Coolings fault. My super low review right now is completely based on the fact that Clovis Heating and Cooling is just absolutely impossible to get into contact with, and not actually based on their work. My actual interaction with them when they deign to call is always friendly enough and informative. My total interactions though with them across 60 days is the following: One call to confirm the appointment. Them doing the diagnostic at the appointment and ordering the part. Them calling after uncompleted service was marked complete 41 days later, and telling me he will call me back that same day with an update. That is it, I never even received the call back with an update. I have personally called their number 15 times over 2 months, and left multiple voice mails. I have called American Home Shield at least 15 times as well over these 2 months trying to get an update, and at least 4 of those times AHS called Clovis Heating and Cooling and was also completely unable to get through. It had reached the point that I was going to try to drive to their physical location just to get an update and I cannot even find that to do it. As far as I can tell if they can fix your problem right away you will have no issue with them, but if there are any delays or you need actual further communication with them that is a total non starter. Hopefully they receive the part soon and can fix our AC. Its literally summer in Fresno with heat waves hitting 115 degrees and we have had no AC for 2 months, this is insane. read more

AHS called this company to come asses our AC unit. They came out unannounced on July 3rd and immediately climbed on the roof without even knocking on the door. They were there for a total of 15 min, diagnosed the compressor as needing a replacement. I called no less than 8 times and only reached them once on July 11th. As of July 15th, we still have no working AC. This is the worst contractor that I have ever dealt with. read more

They were actually the second opinion we had, previous guy told us we needed a new AC unit and would need to pay $12,000+. Not satisfied. Less than average quality of work. Hard to contact. Gave an excuse not to replace my fan motor. He left. It died. He had to come back and change it. Left the taped wires that connected the fan sticking out of the unit. Scraped some metal shavings and left it all over the floor. Bent a covering without removing the last screw. Now that piece is all bent and not flush up against my unit. Not easy to talk to. Not recommended. read more

This company does NOT return my calls OR respond to the home warranty service. This company has sent two different techs out for a burnt wire going to our A/C compressor. TWICE, same burnt wire, different techs but same company. Both techs replaced the burnt wire without finding the cause. Turns out our breaker panel was recalled for circuit breakers not working properly dating BACK IN THE 80s!! Our A/C breaker was stuck in the ON position allowing power even after the wires burned. I tried to get American Home Shield to send out an electrician but they'd charge me another $70 for a "new" problem since they couldn't get a response or verification from Clovis Heating & Cooling. These folks simply didn't answer or respond to voice msgs or emails for over 3 weeks. I have no idea why! read more

He checked that the problem was all fixed and in good working order. He was patient with me and answered all my questions as I often like to educate myself as a homeowner standpoint. This company is the absolute WORST at customer service. They were sent out by my home warranty company to diagnose an A/C problem. They came out and left saying they would have to get back to me. That was the last time I have spoken with them. I have called and left messages with this company for over a month to try and get my A/C unit repaired and never received a returned call or message. After waiting for 5 days to hear from them to schedule the service, I was already doubtful of this organization. That would be the only negative, however, and the owner explained they were extremely busy the past few days. The guys arrived when scheduled, and went to work immediately. They diagnosed the problem (a previous contractor had cut corners) and fixed the AC unit. They tested all vents - even going into the attic - added Freon, and were on their way in less than an hour. We had our AC out for a while and had a tech out the next day- he gave some advice about the system and warranty, and told us to call them back directly once we did some maintenance. He explained what to do and why. A week later, after some maintenance, we called again, and they came first thing the next morning. My explanations and theories were off on why it was not working, but within 30 mins they fixed the issue and even had more advice and explanation as to the situation. Everything was under the same warranty claim. These guys are exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful, and it's obvious that they want to get your problems solved once and for all. I believe the man whom helped on the second call was named Trent. He was no nonsense and I am sure he can get to the bottom of any job you throw at him. **Keep in mind, the phone number (578 4080) was unresponsive. Our heater went out and Stevan responded to our insurance claim and was at our house within 24 hours. He got right to the root of the problem and fixed it. I have a feeling the people complaining didn't take a moment to think about Stevan. He just gets to the point nicely and maybe not the most socially proficient. But, super nice. But, I can see it would appear somewhat rude on face value. People need to really analyze the person and interaction before they jump to conclusions. read more

Our home warranty company selected Clovis Heating and Cooling to service our AC unit that wasn't cooling enough. Stevan was sent to our property. He first diagnosed replacing 1 or 2 lbs of coolant due to a slow leak and adding "green goo" (my words, not his) to stop up the leak, total cost to me would be $300 because warranty does not cover all of coolant cost. Next, he did not submit his report to the home warranty company in the required timeframe. When I called and talked to him, he was quite defensive. The home warranty company tried more than once to contact him, to no avail. Finally, Stevan submitted the required report to home warranty, but now the report stated that in order to find and fix the leak, he would need to drain the entire 14 lbs of coolant from the system (coolant which could not be re-used), find and repair the leak, and then put 14 lbs of coolant back into the system...my cost: $2,100 not covered by warranty for the 14 lbs of coolant. The home warranty would cover the repairs but not the coolant. After working with the warranty company, a second opinion was requested from another company (Smart Energy Engineering) who were professional, pleasant, and timely. The technician checked the system and reported a leak in a valve and a missing stem valve and another spot that needed to be "capped off." And because of those problems causing the slow leak, 1 lb of coolant would be needed at a cost to me of $90. The home warranty covers all the repairs, but not the coolant. First...Clovis Heating and Cooling charges $150 per pound for coolant to home warranty customers. Second...they changed their recommended course of action from $300 for coolant to $2,100 for coolant in order to find and repair the leak. I asked if there was any other way to locate the leak, and I was told no...this was all they could do. End result...Smart Energy Engineering found the leak with a physical inspection, fixed the leak, and charged $90 per pound for coolant for home warranty customers. And they were pleasant to talk to on all fronts (dispatchers and service folks)...unlike Stevan. Which would you choose? I know which one I will request for future needs. read more

AC unit stopped working last night so I submitted a request for service during dinnertime...got a call later that night to see if we could be available at 7:00 am. Stevan showed up right on time and had cool air flowing within 15 minutes. With the heat wave he said he had 30 calls to deal with so I was happy he was willing to come out so early to get our issue resolved. It's been over a month since we started the process and we have not heard from them in a month. I have left multiple voicemails and so has the home warranty company and they have not contacted us still. Every time I have called the office I have to leave a voicemail since no one answers. These are the nicest most understanding contractors we have experienced with HVAC. We've been without our Air conditioning since mid May because home warranty is just awful. These guys did everything they could to get us our A/C they even called the home warranty themselves and waited on hold with them for 2 hours. Yesterday my husband and I both get alerts on our phones that we have an appt with them in the next 30 mins, 10 mins later they show up and completely just hustled to get us back up and running.
