There was a problem with the starter of my unit, so they replaced that and rinsed the inside of my units. The second unit starter is aged and they recommended replacing it but they didn't push it or upsell anything. I chose to hold off for now. I think I paid around $300 for everything. They didn't give me the price ahead of time, so I'm really happy it was reasonable. I'll definitely use them again.

I had a 20-year-old Bryant zoned Hvac system which I had been "limping along" for the last couple of years with the understanding that once the compressor went a full system replacement would be in order. Unfortunately, this happened during a heat spell a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately, I had saved Jeff's name which had been shared with me a few years ago by someone involved in Hvac parts and sales here in Fresno. I called his company, Michelle took the information, dispatched Anthony, who promptly arrived, and after diagnostics recognized quickly that it was indeed the compressor that was shorted to ground. Having done my research over the last year, I knew which Bryant/Carrier systems I would potentially consider. Jeff called me later that same evening and we went over the pros and cons of each as well as the details of my personal situation. He took the time to answer all of the questions that I had. I ultimately decided on the 5 ton complete Carrier Infinity System. Within several days, we had the new system installed, which has been working flawlessly since. This is the expertise and execution component of my review. Where the customer service and professionalism shined was when Jeff offered, and then personally delivered, portable AC units for our use until we made a decision on the HVAC system. He kept reminding me that he was doing this, regardless of whether or not I decided to go with him for Hvac replacement. all of this was done prior to us discussing or signing a contract. As I shared with him the first time we spoke, I'm "old-school" and an insider's professional referral and first impression go a long way with me, and I had already made the decision to go with Jeff's company. Lastly, in terms of the system, it is quiet and definitely more efficient than our 20-year-old system, as expected. On 100+ degree day comparisons from this year, we have already noticed about a 40 to 50 kW per day improvement! I know the real efficiency improvements will come once cooler weather hits and the heat pump compressor is being utilized versus furnace. Ranjeet responded quickly to our issue and let us know the date and time frame he would be able to come out. He was able to diagnose and refill our Freon in our unit within that time frame, which we immediately noticed a difference in the AC before we left. Our unit is almost 30 years old during the times Ranjeet came out, he did not try to push a new unit on us and was able to deliver great options within our budget. He also let us know what issues to look out for in the future or when it might be a good time to look into a new unit. He found that 2 clogged water pipes were causing the leak. Not only did he clear the pipes and fix the issue, but he also removed a dead rat from the attic that we did not even know was there. He suggested adding a safety switch to the pipes to prevent future leaks, which was helpful advice. The service was fast, efficient, and professional. The price was right on par for the type of work that was done, making it a solid value. I would not hesitate to call them again for future services and will recommend them to others.

Their communication and reviews had me sold. Then when they installed the equipment it didn't match what we paid for. The error was recognized by me and they offered me an extended warranty as a result. Due to their great service during this time I felt like they resolved my issue. There were also hiccups with the air unit that they fixed. Fast forward to 2026 when we needed a new water heater. We received several quotes and this one was comparable. They installed it a few days later and all appeared well. We paid $575 for the permit process to Balanced Comfort. They said we would get the inspection within 1-2 weeks. I called three different times and was told they did the paperwork, and lastly to call the city myself. When I called the city they said it had never been filed. I had to call Balanced Comfort again and again to get the plumbing manager to call me back. When he did it's clear he doesn't have customer service training. He's rude and was like oh well it's filed now. It took six weeks total and action on my part or it may never have been completed, a paid service. Next up the inspection. spoiler alert! We didn't pass. The inspector was clear they cut corners and should have known better. He advised I call the company and let them know. When I did, the plumbing manager was beyond rude to me and said "these things happen".... I will never give them my business again.

They charged me $500.00 for a capacitor that I found on Amazon for $44.00. When I raised my concerns to the manager, he ultimately refunded me $250. Unfortunately, this practice is apparently an industry standard. My advice: 1. If your air conditioner doesn't work, go to YouTube and see how easy (and inexpensive) it is to replace the capacitor, and do that first. Buy an extra one, as I am told they tend to go bad in 3 to 5 years. 2: If you decide to hire VAR, (or anyone else), be sure the technician gives you an estimate of the cost before you sign anything.
