Not returning. i have never written a bad review in my life but this needs to be put out there. we dealt with robert lecates. he is a lying scumbag! he was pushy and impatient as we were shopping, he kept giving us false information about the products. then he tells us we can get the couch in 48 hours if we choose a show floor model. so we do. then during paperwork it comes out that it will take a week, no worries....the girl at the desk asked him is he sure on delivery time, he rudely said, "yes".. so we do all the paperwork... we then sell our current couch two days before the new one was set to arrive......then the day before it's supposed to be delivered, we get news the couch is on back order for 2 months!!! All of their furniture is scratched and damaged, and doesn't open/close properly . My order was "new" but damaged throughout multiple deliveries. After multiple delivery windows and hours of wasted time, I gave in and accepted damaged "new" furniture to not have to deal with their horrid lying delivery drivers anymore. Delivery guy pounded on door so hard I thought he was trying to break it down. Then without waiting he walked real fast back to truck. I was sitting 5 feet from door and just barely stopped him before taking off. My bf and I went into this store just to browse for bookshelf and office desk, we were helped by Vu Bui and let me tell you he's such a fantastic sales associate!! Literally went above and beyond ensuring our experience was amazing. The office desk i wanted was backordered until October and Vu worked his magic to be able to get it for me in time for my birthday! So instead of waiting until October, i only had to wait 2 weeks!! I was desperate to find a new dresser given the severe delivery delays that our economy had been facing so when I decided to shop @ Mathis Brothers, I was so hopeful that their stock would be available. Upon walking in, I was immediately greeted by Isabelle Le. She had a warm smile and offered to show me around the various show rooms within the very large store. I was impressed by their large selection of choices. I knew what style I wanted and the color I needed as well. When I conveyed this to Isabelle, she knew in which direction to take me. We did find the perfect dresser and although it appeared to be the last one, she took the initiative to contact her manager and was successful in locating one for me. Needless to say, I was ecstatic. The entire experience given her professionalism and kind demeanor immediately put me at ease and to walk out of there knowing I had found exactly what I wanted and it was ordered was the best feeling an lad made my day. DO NOT SHOP HERE. I used their online customer service to order $1700 worth of furniture. I was assured that it would be delivered a week from my purchase. When I received no delivery scheduling call, I had to follow up and was told that my furniture would not be delivered for a month. I asked for the online she's manager and was told that he would call me back within the hour. An hour later, I had not been called back so I called back AGAIN and was told that the manager had gone home. So now I have to go through my credit card company to get my money back. read more

Came in yesterday looking for a new sofa. Walked in and immediately was pounced upon by one of their sales people. She told me that she has been assigned to help me. WTF, leave me alone creep and just let me walk around in peace. If I want any help I'll ask someone. I asked her about their delivery costs. Was told that it was some $169 white glove service. AKA, some guys called Hector and Juan in a dodgy white van would be turning up to delivery your sofa. I told her I didn't need the white glove service and wanted free delivery like how Living Spaces and Ashley Furniture offers. Nope, I can only get the white glove service and be ripped off. Left the store and took my business to Living Spaces. They will be delivering my new sofa soon for free. I don't care if your Tustin showroom is 4 acres. Don't try to rip people off!! Reading other reviews here, it looks like ripping off people is quite common here. Reward memberships etc. that no one needs. I dodged a bullet here and will never be returning to this company. We purchased a leather sofa with 3 built-in recliners in 2020. The salesman urged us to purchase the 5-yr insurance plan for an additional $275.00 should anything ever go wrong with the motors or if the leather should ever become damaged. It's now 2024 and one of the recliners quit working. I was advised to contact GBS Insurance directly. They informed me that they do not cover anything mechanical, nor do they cover leather. But I recently purchased a rug from them and was told by the the salesperson TAJ that it would be delivered to the Irvine store for pick up and he would call me when it arrived. I did not receive any call from him. So I called today to find out that it is in Ontario California and I needed to go pick it up. I am a member with Mathis Brothers and have the option of having it delivered for free why he didn't do this I don't know. We just purchased all new patio furniture from Mathis Brothers Irvine. First of all the selections were fantastic and the prices were very reasonable. Best of all our sales person Lisa was great to work with. She was very efficient, and not pushy or bothersome when we wanted to browse like some of their other sales people. My shopping experience with Mathis Brothers was a total disaster: 1. My online order was "missing in action" even after I received a confirmation e-mail from Mathis Brothers. 2. After I discovered our "missing in action" online order, then they sent me a replacement order which was five times more expensive than our original order amount. 3. After those mishaps, I demanded to talk to a sales manager, and Josh, Sales Manager with Mathis Brothers for 10+ years called back and offered no apology or gesture to make it up for their mistakes, his "I can care less about you as my customer" attitude certainly added salt to our wounds. RJ was helping us navigate through this huge store and we got some amazing ideas for sectionals we were looking at. They really have everything you need here with so many different options. 5 stars alone just for the customer service. RJ made us feel so welcomed and not pushy at all. Could not possibly say enough about my initial interaction with these folks. I went in and got some reasonable attention but then the process dragged on more than when you want to buy a car. I told them to provide me with a quote and that one way or another I will make a choice the following day. I called the next day and was told that the sales person was busy and that they would get back to me within 1 hour. I called two more times with no luck and all I wanted was to change the size of the item and buy it. I even said to the people that answer the phone with no luck. It has been 4 days and not a return call at all. I am almost certain now that they will not even honor the prior pricing and it's a shame that they treat me worst than car sales people ever would. At least they have the decency to call back. Not worth coming back if they clearly don't care about customer service. I went inside because I knew they recently opened and was expecting an exciting and grand opening experience! Unfortunately, that was not the case. I walked around the whole store, for about 30 minutes, and not a single sales associate greeted me. All I received were glares and rude stares. Terrible service. First of all the salesperson pulled a fast one on us by shipping us a floor model when we paid for a new sectional. When we found out and expressed our concerns he assured us that because we purchased the warranty, we would be protected. So we reluctantly agreed to keep the floor model that was delivered. Not even 4 months later we found a rip in the leather between the sections. We called immediately to report the issue. That was in December. At that time the customer service people told us that we should not have been able to purchase a warranty on a floor model. We explained that we did not purchase a floor model, the salesperson pulled a switch on us and were were not happy. Initially we were told it could take up to 3 months to fix. I have received the run around ever since then. I have had to nag/call /follow up every time I wanted an update on information. Then the story became, 3 months to ship and another 3 months to get it fixed. The last time I asked, I was told our new leather cover was lost and we have to restart the process. Now they are telling me it may take up to another 6 months?! I have dealt with at least 4 different customer service people who keep transferring my case. I did not even have the courtesy of a phone call. Just another email from a new customer service rep. At this point I want a new sectional or a refund. So far I have had no response. Last year, my wife and I decided to buy Tempur-Pedic mattresses with fancy adjustable bases that can even track your sleeping patterns. We generally do not spend too much money on beds but we thought it would be a good investment since I was starting to have some back issues. In addition, it has censors that are supposed to automatically lift the bed slightly if it detects you snoring. We bought it from Mathis Brothers because they are well-known and I thought great service was part of their value proposition. The sales folks were adamant that if anything didn't work that Mathis would fix the problem. Unfortunately, I was proven wrong. The mattress is great on my back but the censors do not work correctly. I don't like to complain about things but I don't like paying for products that don't work as promised. I'm not upset that the equipment is broken because it's technology and sometimes things break. However, I'm frustrated and disappointed that Mathis customer service cannot follow through with their promises. It's been over a year of emails, voice messages, and getting transferred from one department to the next before getting disconnected. One year...and I still can't get someone from their customer service team to call me back. This has been the worst customer experience in my life. Not having the ability to fix equipment is understandable but how is it acceptable to ignore customers when they need your help? Mathis Brothers has the worse customer service! Even the so called "designer showroom"!! They delivered our bed, didn't complete assembly because they were missing a part. No one ever called to follow up on the missing part. I called several times to F/U so finally they said they have to order that part first. So god knows when bed will be assembled. The designers are super friendly when you order furniture and spend money! But she didn't tell us furniture we ordered was not returnable. Anything they don't carry in the showroom is not returnable. Once you place your order that's it, you cannot cancel! It's the worse furniture store to deal with! The only positive thing I can say is that on some of the furnitures I got good pricing. Recently shopped her for living room furniture. I wanted to procure a sectional & area rug. I was helped by a gentleman named Meyer. Meyer was great & took his time to show me all of the furniture pieces I was interested in. I can be a lot to handle sometimes being very particular on what I want. He made me feel welcome & did not rush me or pressure me in any way. He was on his way to LA when I phoned him I was coming in & he turned around just for me. He was already in Long Beach. Now that great customer service. After we found the couch I wanted he walked me over to the carpet section. Where the great customer service continued when I was greeted by David. David grew up in a family that crafted their own rugs. His knowledge is unparalleled. He offered to come in early just for me when I wanted to come in & change my rug. I cannot say enough positive things about this experience with these two employees. They represent Mathis Brothers very well. If you plan on heading in, please ask for them. This place is horrible if for no other reason than the salespeople stalk you around the store and aggressively ask you irrelevant questions after you stress that you just want to browse. I have never experienced anything like it in my entire life! I mean, sure, I get that it's a huge showroom and that perhaps some customers would appreciate a salesperson getting to know them so that the customer can find the furniture they are looking for. The store does have a wide variety of furniture, I'll give them that. That being said, when you repeatedly tell the salesperson that you are just browsing around, at a minimum that particular salesperson should respect your wishes and not reengage with you unless and until you ask them a question. What am I supposed to do to get some peace in this store, ask a manager to order the salespeople to abide by my wish just to browse?! That would be ridiculous as literally no retail business I have ever shopped at my entire life would even think about asking this of a customer. I mean, I'm positive they weren't trying to make me feel uncomfortable, but if I am looking at a particular item in an isolated part of the store, a particular salesperson should only have to be told once by me to let me browse without interference. I don't know what the management is thinking. UPDATE: 08/11/2021 The store responded to my review, but I still have concerns which hopefully I can get cleared up on here: Mathis Brothers: "with such a large showroom featuring a wide variety of furniture, many of our customers do like to have a salesperson close by to assist in answering questions and guide them." My Response: Basically, what they are saying is that some customers like having a salesperson close by and some do not, and this is at least partially due to the size of the store and the variety of goods it carries. Mathis Brothers appears to have a policy that presumes customers want a salesperson following them. Assuming this is all true, when a PARTICULAR customer tells a PARTICULAR salesperson that they, the customer, are part of the group of customers that DO NOT want a salesperson following them around, why would said PARTICULAR salesperson keep stalking and bothering that customer? This has nothing to do with how big the store is or what they sell or how many salespeople work there. I would like an answer to this please. Mathis Brothers: "For those wanting to browse without a sales associate, we ask that you please ask for a Sales Manager who will then provide you with a visitor sticker. This alerts our sales associates throughout the store to give you the space you desire." My Response: 1) Why should I have to wear a sticker? Why can't I just politely tell the salesperson to leave me alone? If salesperson number 2 comes up to me later, why can't I just tell them the same thing and have them respect what I say? 2) Even if the sticker was the best way to inform the sales staff of my desire to be left alone (apparently my words are insufficient), why does only the manager have them? Why doesn't each salesperson have a few stickers? Better yet, why can't there be a little kiosk where they hand the stickers out? Mathis Brothers: "Because our showrooms are so large, it [the leave me alone sticker] is the most effective way to alert our sales staff of your desire to be left alone through the store." My Response: Okay, I want you to name one major retailer with a large store that has a policy where the customer has to ask a manager for a sticker to be left alone. read more

You only want to argue with them And be rude... this was when I was talking to Cora in CS. I will never get this taken care of after spending over 2k. They just give you the run around. Awesome experience!! I worked with Steve Wade he helped me find the right sofa set for my home. When I realized I had measured my living room incorrectly they quickly let me do an exchange. The BEST experience I've had with a furniture company!! Steve was available to me through the whole process of shopping, ordering, and shopping again because of my mistake. Delivery was my biggest worry and their 2 hour window is great.. normally companies make you wait all day or 4 hour windows. They came right on time on all 3 deliveries.
