Yesterday was my Wife's Birthday, and we went out to Celebrate…read more Joe, Nancy's son, came over for the celebrations. We all left for "The GRILL" and when we entered, the place was packed, but they did have a table available, and it was near the Kitchen. At most restaurants, you don't want to be near the Kitchen, but at The GRILL, it's a great place to sit because you are closer to all that Aroma that fills the air all over the entire restaurant, and you get to watch them grill those Steaks. Haylee came over to our table to say "Hello". She is one of the Bartenders here at this time, and informed us that our Server is Katie, who will be with us shortly. We informed her that it's Nancy's "80th" Birthday, and Haylee wished her a Happy Birthday. We also ordered our drinks, Jack-N-Cokes for Nancy and me; Joe is having a Miller Lite. Katie came over shortly, and we informed her that Haylee took our drink order. Soon our drinks arrived, and we toasted to the Birthday Girl. Happy Birthday Nancy. We then looked over the menu some more, trying to decide what we wanted. This is a hard decision because everything they prepare here is delicious, and one of the Best Presentations of Tastyliciousness in town. When Katie returned, we placed our orders. The Birthday Girl is going with, and there is no surprise here, their "Slow Roasted Pork Nachos"; Chipotle Sauce, diced Tomatoes, Cilantro, Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese over Fresh Chips with sliced Green Jalapenos on the side, all covering a load of Fresh, Crunchy Chips. Joe is having their "Baby Back Ribs", "Fall-Off-The-Bone-Ribs" with house-made BBQ Sauce, served with Creamy Coleslaw & Shoestring Potatoes. He also ordered a side Salad with House Dressing. I am going with one of my favorites - everywhere - a Burger. Not just any burger, but their "Texas Burger": Half Pound of Seasoned Fresh Ground Chuck, Shredded Cheddar Cheese, Canadian Bacon, Onions, jalapeños, and mustard with Mesquite Sauce. Served with Shoestring Potatoes (choice). Orders are in, and we ordered another round of drinks for us. The GRILL has the best Bartenders in the area, and their drinks go down smooooooth. Our drinks arrived just before the food did, and it's hard to decide what to enjoy next. Okay, it was kind of easy. When you are presented with a drink, you take a sip just to let the drink know you appreciate it being a good drink. The GRILL does an amazing job with their Presentation of food. Joe's Baby Back Ribs are glistening on his platter (yes, a platter, not a plate), waiting for him to indulge. They didn't have to wait very long, because he did just that. Those Ribs have a lot of bones across the platter, and he started at one end and went to the other end. He said it was delicious, or something like that, because when one drools, it's hard to come up with the words. Their Shoestring Potatoes are always good, and the Creamy Coleslaw has a nice crunch to it, along with tasty flavoring. My Wife, as always, enjoyed those Slow Roasted Pork Nachos. There is a lot of pulled pork in there, along with a lot of everything else. The Jalapeños are on the side, so you can add as much heat to each bite as you want. This dish is not only Tastylicious, but a very Colorful one at that. It's like Christmas in August. Nancy ate more of this than she normally does. I took a bite, and it is really good, and what a deal. Joe finished off the rest, and the plate is clean. I have had this Texas Burger a few times before, and it's a hard one to pass up each time we are here. This must be a full Half-Pound patty, because it's Thick & Big. Love the strong taste and the amount of Cheddar Cheese Strips on this Burger; it's not too much, but it's also not a little amount. The Jalapeños are also just the right amount of heat to complement every bite. The Canadian Bacon on a Texas Burger does not sound right, but it is the right touch. The flavor goes perfectly with the entire Burger. For me, this entire Texas Burger is the Best Burger in the area, and I have had many a burger all over. Love those Shoestring Potatoes. They have a nice Crunch all the way around and are salted Just-Right. I usually do not salt anything per Doctor's orders, but these I make an exception for. The Texas Burger does it for me every time I order it. Every one of us joined the Clean Plate Club for the night, and we all get a Gold Star. Haylee and Katie earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm. Haylee made our drinks for the night, and Katie checked on us throughout our stay at just the right time. Service at The GRILL has always been tops, and it was that again.

The place is small but cozy! Aiden was the best server! He was knowledgeable about the meal…read morerecommendations and was polite and courteous! The appetizer was a cheese and guacamole dip.. this was not the best queso but the guacamole was delicious! We ordered the blackened fish and 8oz sirloin! The steak had a good char and was well seasoned too! I order my steak rare and it was rare! Yes! The loaded mashed potatoes were very good too! The fish was well cooked and not dry. Will definitely recommend!

"MOTHERS DAY LUNCH OUT - KOREAN STYLE"…read more Our Mothers Day Celebration was up to my Lovely Wife, Nancy. We have wanted to try out GoGo GoGi Korean BBQ since it first opened and we have yet to do so - and it's only a few blocks from the house. Sunday morning she informed me to make reservations for the three of us at GoGo GoGi for a 12:30 Lunch, if you can. I went on-line and made our reservations - it's that easy. So, after Church and Sunday School, we came home for a bit and then left for GoGo GoGi. I have had lots of Korean food when I was stationed in Korea (60yrs ago) for 14-Loooooooong months and enjoyed all that I tried - and most food I didn't even know what I was eating. I'm sure at GoGo GoGi I will know what I am ordering. Anyway, we arrived right on time, gave them my name and we were shown to a booth. GoGo GoGi is a place where you can cook the food you order right at your table or order something that they will prepare for you in their Kitchen. The Decor here is Very Unique and well done with every area somewhat private with each booth having their own cooking area in the middle of the table. Charlie is our Server and right away we wanted to order our drinks - and we know what that is. They have a Sunday Special on Bloody Marys for only 6-Bucks - that's what all of us want. Charlie explained what their Daily Special is for Mothers Day, how they operate at GoGo GoGi and what they have to offer, especially for first timers. This took a while because GoGo GoGi has a lot to choose from - This trip out we decided to take it easy and ordered from their Lunch Menu Specials. We are going with what Charlie recommended; the "Spicy Tofu Stew" (without the tofu - we've had it and don't care for it) This Stew consist of Egg & Steamed Rice, an Authentic Korean Favorite. Served with an Egg Role & drink of choice. "Wings"; Six-Wings tossed in Honey-Garlic Sauce (choice). Served with French Fries and a drink of choice. "K-Tacos"; A Korean-Mexican Fusion Dish. Three-Flour Tortilla Tacos with Beef (choice), served with a side of Corn. All three of these dishes are being shared by the three-of-us to sample what GoGo GoGi has. It might not be a true Korean meal but it is what we are going to try - besides, Tacos are good anywhere and from anywhere. Soon after we ordered our Bloody Marys arrived and they are in a Very Nice Size Glass. We toasted and the first sip told us something about this drink - this is some Goooood Stuff. We all LoVe Bloody Marys and I will say that these Bloody Marys are the Best we have had in San Angelo. The Spiced taste is Spot-On-Perfect and balances out very well with the rest. Perfectly Flavorful - and instead of an Olive they added an Okra. One of the Staff brought over three metal dishes with some kind of sauce for each of us - I asked what it was and they didn't know. I tasted it and it's good, not much flavor but kind of nutty and served cold. While we waited for our food we enjoyed those Bloody Marys. Soon the 'Spicy Tofu Stew' (minus tofu) arrived along with the 'Wings'. Their serving bowls are very Unique and different - love'em. We actually dipped the soup bowls into the larger bowl of Spicy Soup and served in a long Boat dish. This made it easier to serve to each of us. (the Spoon they provided was much to small to serve from the Big bowl to the Smaller ones for each of us) This 'Spicy (minus tofu) Stew' (which is actually soup) is what it says - It's SPICY, but not overly so, just enough to taste the rest of the ingredients they don't list - and it's some good stuff. Joe didn't care for the Spicy Stew (soup), but Nancy and I did. Next are the 'Wings' - these are Small Wings that have a Thick Crunchiness to them and are carrying some Spice. They do have a nice crunch but not much meat - and it is tasty with Very Unique Flavoring. While we were enjoying two of the three items we ordered, the third item, the 'K-Tacos' arrived and they are Very Thick and stuffed full of goodies not listed on the menu - with a container of Corn to the side. We each grabbed one and I added some Corn to mine along with that nutty stuff we were first served, whatever it is. The Flour Tortilla was grilled just enough and all the goodies inside made this a Very Tastylicious Korean-Mexican Fusion creation - and like I said, Tacos are good anywhere and from anywhere - and they make you happy - it's what Tacos do. Charlie was really good in providing us with lots of information on what GoGo GoGi offers - and earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award. - But - also found out after we returned home that we didn't get the Steamed Rice & Egg Role with the Stew (or Soup) or the French Fries with the Wings - and a drink of your choice with some of the items we ordered. These were all listed on the menu - oh well, live and learn - we still had fun and the place is Very Unique. We will go back and try the 'cooking' at your table part... Looks Like Fun.

Thursday night we got together with some friends and ate at Cielo Mexican Restaurant. We had not…read morebeen there, and it's only a few blocks from our house. They have eaten there several times and really like the food. My Wife and I arrived a little early and took a seat in their waiting area. Soon, our friends arrived, and the staff led us to our table/booth. The Chips & Salsa lady brought over a basket of Warm Chips and Red Medium-Heat Salsa for you to enjoy while looking over the menu. Our server, Janessa, came over, and we ordered our drinks: Dos XX Lager for me. My Wife is having water. The Chips are good and crunchy, and that Red Sauce is just what they say; it's Mediumly HOT, and very good. Soon, Janessa came over, and we placed our order. My Wife is going with their "Taco Salad"; In a decent-sized fried Tortilla Bowl, they add shredded Chicken or ground Beef. My wife chose Beef, with Black Refried Beans, Queso Dip, shredded Lettuce, diced Tomatoes, and Queso y Crema. I am having the "Baja Fish Tacos"; Three Fried or Grilled Fish (chose grilled), with Flour or Corn Tortillas (chose Corn). Topped with Chipotle Slaw & Avocado slices. Served with Black Beans in a red fried tortilla, also served with Rice. While we waited for our food, we enjoyed our drinks & chips and talked about our travels. Lots of good stories here that we are not going to post. Soon, our food is served, and my Wife's Taco Salad looks pretty good with lots of Cheese and Sour Cream on top. My Baja Fish Tacos are served on a rectangular plate and are a Beautiful Presentation. Not sure what Jimmy & Judy ordered, but both dishes looked delicious. There are Three Corn Tortillas with very, very little Baja Fish inside. So small, in fact, that I can't see the other fish inside the Corn Tortilla. Each Taco isn't even filled up to the top, with very little Chipotle Slaw. The Black Beans in the Red Fried Tortilla are just enough to cover the bottom of the tortilla. There is, however, a lot of Rice (enough for two). You can barely taste the fish inside each taco. Very disappointed in the amount of food they serve for $20.00. My Wife said pretty much the same about her Taco Salad. There is Beef at the bottom, mixed in with the Black Refried Beans and some kind of sauce, which turned this into a Soup-like creation. Not what you want inside a Taco Salad. Lots of shredded Lettuce with the shredded Cheese on top, along with the Sour Cream - and that didn't even bring it up to the top. The Tortilla Bowl itself is on the medium size, not huge nor small, but for $1400 you expect more. Overall, we are very disappointed in what you get for the money. Service was okay, but not outstanding. At first, they seemed to want to rush you out, but later on we enjoyed staying and having our conversation without interruption. Also, when they took our drink order, our server left without asking me what I wanted. Oops, that happens sometimes - I think. Anyway, that being said, the atmosphere is nice and is quiet for as open as it is. My Wife and I will go back, but only if someone invites us to join them and they pick Cielo Mexican Restaurant. We will then try something else and order another Beer. Their mixed drinks do look great, and I'm sure they are delicious, but we're not into those high prices.
