They have been sent through my insurance and the experience was terrible. First, someone came to assess the work and then they agreed with insurance for a full day of work with a scope of damages to the floor throughout the area. When they came to do the job they kept asking for each single area that required work despite someone already having done the assessment and the floor being damaged pretty much everywhere after months of renovations. Finished at 12 despite billing insurance for a full day. When we raised concerns the owner suggested we're trying to rip off the insurance, which must have been a projection, since that's what they seem to be doing. We ended up having another company fix the entire floor for less than half the price they charged for a few spots. Avoid!!! read more

We called them having been referred to a specific employee that is unfortunately not there anymore. We needed a problem with a wood floor solved. They charged $1,260 for a guy to spend a touch over 4 hours doing samples that unfortunately were really not good. To charge such a high day rate for samples that were bad is a bit of a shock. I'd be very careful paying them for samples unless they can guarantee at least a decent result. We ended up paying them but calling another company that didn't charge for the sample and did a great job though they were costly for the overall job. The end result was acceptable to the client so worth the cost from the other company. The least they should have done was charged a much reduced fee for spending only 4 hours and providing poor results. The most was not charge as they clearly weren't capable of getting this one right compared to the results of another company. read more

We installed Woodmode cabinets in our kitchen over 17 years ago. We wanted a new 30" oven which would not fit the previous opening so had to order a new cabinet section. Of course the color didn't match. C & S Material Specialist were highly recommended to match the cabinets. They were unbelievably marvelous! The team was professional, tidy and did an amazing job. Hi, this is the state of our laminate floors 2 weeks after they repaired their scratches and sealed them with their "heavy traffic", "heavy duty" sealant. We cannot even put our roomba in our floors to vacuum without their paint and sealant coming right off. The paint has peeled between the planks and it's been 14 days. They have no remedy for this and this is now how our floors remain. Please find someone more competent to assist you. read more

So I had about 7 chips on various places on my white caesarstone countertops, mostly around the sink. It looked horrible. Matt came and fixed everything. It looks amazing. I had an extremely difficult time finding a company to even do the work. I'll be honest, the price was not as cheap as I wanted it to be, but the quality of the work was outstanding and given that, it was fair--you are trusting someone not to destroy your countertops or exacerbate the problem. Scheduling was easy, Matt was on time, a fun person to chit chat with, and the cleanest worker I've ever had in my home. To be clear, it is never going to be an exact match, but it's pretty darn close. You will notice the fixes if you look, but no one else ever will. I can't tell you how happy I am not to look at those gd chips anymore!!! read more

If I could give them less than a star, I would. I am doing a bathroom remodel. The bathroom shower is completely gutted and a tile cracked as a result. C & S was sent by the insurance company and supposedly highly recommended. The crack in the tile extended under the baseboard. I told him I would remove the baseboard so he could access the entire crack, he said it was not needed. The "specialist" fixed the exposed portion and left the area under the baseboard cracked. Also, the epoxy they used discolored the tile. Do yourself a favor, get superglue and fix it yourself because they charged 490 bucks for unprofessional shoddy work. I was referred to this company by my contractor who has used them many times before. When I had new windows and a patio door installed in my home recently, two ceramic tiles adjacent to the patio door were damaged - they both had shallow gouges the size of a small coin. Originally, I thought I would have to replace the tiles, put they weren't made anymore and pulling out old tiles without damaging other nearby tiles can be tricky anyway. The best solution was repairing the damage, but I was worried that it would be very noticeable. Dave G came over - he has 20 years of experience with this company and its predecessor - and perfectly matched the material he used to fill in the damaged areas. He did such a good job that no one would ever be aware of the damage. And because the work didn't take long, the charge turned out to be lower than their original estimate. This company is fantastic. We contacted them to fix a chip in our porcelain bathroom sink and some scratches in our stainless steel kitchen sink. The specialist arrived 5-10 minutes before the timeframe they gave and went right to work. The finished product was amazing and I can't even tell where the chip was. And the kitchen sink looks brand new. He was very clean and careful with the fixtures and vanity while he worked. He was very professional and finished the work very timely (as they charge by the hour). We will definitely use this company in the future, as we have a 3 year old. We had a variety of nicks, gouges, scratches and paint not matching on sets of new cabinets and bookcases that needed repair. This was due to poor quality control at the factory, as well as some damage during shipping. The cabinet manufacturer contracted with Material Specialists to make the repairs. They did an outstanding job. Danny, John and Junior were the technicians who completed the repairs. They were professional, neat, made sure all areas were properly masked off and thoroughly cleaned up at the end of the day. I thought some of the cabinet doors would need to be replaced, but they were able to fix all the scratches and chips, and I can't even tell they were ever there. Danny had the task of matching the paint on two side-by-side bookcases. One bookcase from the factory was a totally different color than the other three, and he was able to do a pretty close match. Which is amazing, considering he had to re-paint factory finishes. We appreciated all the time they took to make sure we were satisfied with the work. They were definitely customer service oriented, which you don't always see. Could not be happier. read more

I have a pretty amazing kitchen with a moveable quartz countertop that was runner-up to winning Interior Design's Best of the Year Award for kitchen design. My house is also listed as a location for commercials, movies, etc. Earlier in week, as a commercial was being filmed in my kitchen, a glass was dropped on the edge of my quartz countertop that broke off a quarter-sized chunk of it. I freaked out. I called my kitchen manufacturer, and the fabricator they used wasn't comfortable with their ability to fix it. So I called other high-end kitchen company near me (Bofi) and asked who they used to repair their quartz countertops, and they recommend C&S Material Specialist. I emailed a picture of the damage to Scott, the owner of C&S, and he said they could easily fix it. Perfect. I asked if they could do the repair quickly ask I needed the house to be perfect in a couple of days, and they were able to accommodate me on a Saturday morning "between 9 and 10 am," which was only two days after I called them. Perfect. I hate waiting for service calls at my house as they are almost always late. As I was looking at my watch at 8:59am, my doorbell rang. I commented on how punctual they were, and they said they were waiting outside my house for 15 minutes before ringing my doorbell. Impressive. The two guys who showed up at my house were Steve and Votha, who were very courteous and professional in absolutely every way. The repair was executed with great precision and I couldn't even discern where the broken part was on my quartz countertop (with my OCD, I feared that I would always zero in on the damage). And the cost was reasonable for what they had to do. They spent about 2.5 hours performing the work and cleaned up before they left. We have a new home in Costa Mesa and it had a surprising number of minor material flaws and defects: Chips in tiles, scratches in granite, unfinished laminate edges, gouged flooring. These guys came three times. All repair people were polite, clean, professional and courteous. They charge by the hour, so have a list of all of the stuff you want fixed and let them loose. Each additional hour is halved, and they get a lot done quickly. Don't replaced any surfaces without trying these guys first. The repairs were nothing short of miraculous! Most were unidentifiable and all were like new! Our highest recommendation, and we are VERY particular. read more

Today I hired this company, which was recommended by my kitchen designer, to fix two cracks in my granite countertops and some nicks in my wood cabinets. The guy he sent worked very hard and did a great job on the wood but not such a great job on the granite. The problem was I had sent the boss photos of the job and he told me the process would involve filling the cracks with an epoxy resin, grinding and polishing. So even though the photo showed the exact location of the first crack, which was behind the faucet directly in front of the backsplash, he failed to tell me that he could not do the last two processes on that crack, because he couldn't get the tools in there. So when it was finished, it looked like it was filled with dull putty that didn't blend into the granite. And the hairline crack in front of the sink was filled, ground and polished but still evident. To be fair, he had told me this wouldn't be perfect because Absolute Black granite is so uniform. But he said it would look better. In my estimation, it didn't look any better just different. After the guy finished, he told me he was going to speak to the boss about what was owed. I told him I was emailing the boss some photos and he needed to speak to me. He put him on the phone and I walked outside to have the conversation. Even though I told him up front I wasn't planning to stiff him, he must have thought I was, because he kept interrupting me and insulting me. Without even giving me a chance to finish saying my peace, he accused me of bad mouthing the 55 year old laborer in front of him like a little boy, even though I went outside to have this conversation, and even though I prefaced my remarks by saying the guy worked as hard as he could. Then he accused me of yelling at him, the owner, because I raised my voice to be heard over his interruptions. I told him that if he had just given me a chance to finish, I would have said that I was happy with the effort of the laborer, and I had told him so directly. The problem I had was with the owner, who had oversold what the guy would be able to do based on the location of the crack which he had seen in a photo before even doing the job. He then interrupted to say he was calling my kitchen designer and asked me whether the designer would say I was like this all the time. I told him the designer would say that I was a customer who had high standards. But that was not the point. I then told him that for a guy who was in the customer service business, he certainly practiced poor customer service skills. I told him that if he had let me finish, I would have told him that the guy did an excellent job on the wood cabinets, and I wanted to have him come back for a whole day and finish the rest. So then he calmed down and asked me what I felt was fair to pay. I told him that I was going to suggest cutting two hours worth of time ($140) from the job, which I did. Needless to say after his abusive treatment of me over the phone, how could I possibly give him more business? It's just sad how people who own their own businesses seem to lack basic customer service or even basic people skills. All I can say is I'd hate to be married to this guy. read more

Wow! That's all I can say. We recently had new wood floors installed and they left a hole where they thought the floor outlet was. Unfortunately - that wasn't the spot and apparently would be very hard (and costly) to redo the floor. That's when we were told about C & S. We spoke with Scott, the owner, who was very professional and confident in their abilities and he assured us it was something they could do well. Although initially skeptical about how it would come out this seemed to be the only solution. I wish I had taken a before photo! Keith came out (exactly on time!) and started his artistry.
