So glad I stumbled across Matchaful while I was walking in west village. The storefront in the west village is small so it's easy to miss out on places but glad I stumbled in. Matchaful had a sign about their banana soft serve so I had to stop in - especially since it was such a hot day. Inside, I love how the interior feels so welcoming and the staff is super friendly. They have a fridge of already made products and also a shelf of freshly baked goods. I love the variety of options across matcha. The highlight was the banana soft serve - no added sugar and felt super healthy and delicious. Can't wait to be back to try more options! read more

Hiiii! Recently, I stopped into MATCHAFUL - for the first time - and really enjoyed it. The low-key yet hospitable vibe there was palpable from the minute I walked in, largely thanks to Marco. (Thank you and bless you, Marco!) About a minute after I walked in the door, a sweet voice rang out, "Welcome!" paired with a delicious smile. Woa, wasn't sure that this level of customer care still existed (namely in indifferent NYC); but, apparently, someone trained this young man well OR he's a natural sweetheart (or both). At any rate, how refreshing! The young staff members with whom he worked (behind the counter), seemed equally nice, though they were more reserved in nature. So, I went all in and ordered their signature drink, which is called the "Mindful Mint." Further, I ordered it with macadamia nut mylk, one of my fave things in life, and it was delicious...so, extra points were scored, so to speak, for y'all having macadamia nut mylk! Yay! The drink itself was nothing short of heavenly (shoutout to the young lady, it appeared, who made it...though, sadly, I didn't catch her name). It was tasteful (tasted like almost equal parts peppermint and matcha), and airy...there was just enough foam on top, to make it feel like a borderline dessert. Yummy! It sure felt comforting on a chilly winter's day, without loading me up too much, in terms of caffeine! It was just the right amount to perk me up and help me to get through the rest of my workday...but not enough to make me hyper. : ) In closing: Gosh, I met my match in this matcha haven, which turned out to be both a soft AND sweet place to land. If you're looking for a little nurture and escape from the cold, then head over to this West Village tea spot. Thanks, everyone! Hope to see y'all again soon, Katherine AKA Kat read more

Life is short. F....it up! Family, Flavor, Friends On my way to other food tours ran into the small unassuming Matcha place I had to stop in. You're gonna getting the vanilla zen Matcha drink, which is very tasty and the other drink that we saw in the picture was the osishi berry. Well worth the visit. read more

Convenient, cute matcha spot in West Village. Like most matcha cafes in NYC, it's a bit overpriced but I appreciate that they have straight matcha, matcha au lait, and matcha lattes (+ their specialty lattes if you want a sweeter, fun drink). I got the matcha au lait which is a mix of water and plant-based milk. I opted for the macadamia milk and monkfruit sweetener for a bit of sweetness. It's definitely fun to customize your drink! The matcha is nice and strong but a bit grainy. It's a nice lighter pick-me-up to get the matcha au lait compared to the heavier latte. I do think the matcha here could have been whisked more to prevent separation and overall it wasn't anything special. My friend got the ube matcha latte which I tried and was way too sweet and artificial tasting. Would definitely recommend the classic drinks if you truly want matcha. read more

They are creative in the matcha mixes but I like it to be thick. I got the earth glow and the matcha was pretty watered down. For $10 a cup, its not worth it. read more

First sip was really delicious but the level of sweetness is relatively low, so the grassier notes of the matcha and scratchiness(?) of the blended oat milk was not so pleasant. This is great for those who want a strong matcha flavor and alternative milk option. read more

Very clean place. Seems like good ingredients, seems all are non dairy friendly. But they also don't really like too much sugar so it really just tasted like grass. The only good one was the earth one with spirulina's but i think they would all be good with more maple syrup (their sweetener of choice). Very small place but also very popular so don't expect this place to have any space for you. pretty much a grab a go. but the real reason i will return --- the vegan gf MATCHa SOFTSERVE. .... whatever tf flavor they do w the whole matcha earth glow mix.... AMAZING. i'm about to go in there, buy a pint and eat it all in one sitting. Taste like a black sesame flavor and doesn't have a weird texture or anything being vegan. but wow new fave dessert to grab. 5 read more

Crazy how Matchaful has grown! This is the first time visiting in years and their locations and menu have expanded considerably. I would say this is a more "commercialized" take on matcha for grab and go drinks vs. a traditional tea ceremony experience. Service was quick. They do have some bites and limited seating at this location. I ended up ordering a hot straight matcha which I thought was reasonably priced. Lattes seemed to range from $8-11. I did wish the matcha was stronger, but for those not used to the taste by itself yet, I can see how it could be off-putting. read more

Stopped by for an afternoon boost but didn't want the post-coffee jitters, so we opted for some matcha. I got the cold foam matcha and you have the option of having it straight up (just the cold foam) or in latte form. It's nice that they offer plant-based milk alternatives without an extra cost. However, the drinks are a little on the pricy side, so I suppose it's already factoring in the substitution. Nothing really stood out about the matcha. It's definitely not very sweet and the matcha is quite concentrated. There isn't much seating inside so it can be tough on a cold and rainy day. Overall, it was a pretty average matcha drink. It did the job, but probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

So cute! I am a big fan of matcha so I was excited to finally try this cafe out. I had one of their specialty lattes, which was very good. I also got one of the matcha cookies. The prices are a bit steep here so don't be surprised. Their goodies all looked soo good - from donuts to brownies. Wish I could have tried them all! read more

Great matcha quality and creative drinks that you can't find in other regular coffee shops. We had the vanilla and oishii latte it was super tasty while not taking away from the matcha flavor. They were also not too sweet! It's on the expensive side but it's worth it. Excited to try the other specialty lattes. The shop is pretty small and only has a couple of seating. So be prepared to drink somewhere else. read more

The newest Matchaful cafe just opened here. It's tiny and zenful. I usually came here for their vegan Matcha soft serve. I highly recommend the soft serve. It's pricey ($8.50+tax). I occasionally get the straight hot matcha and Matchaful. The Matcha flavor is great but unfortunately they made the matcha with the water higher than 175 degrees. Matcha should not be made with boiling water. The service is pretty fast for soft serve. The cafe has limited seatings. read more

Service was super friendly, cool vibes on the store. Picked the Indigo Glow matcha. Five stars! Was so good!

Wish I read the reviews before ordering from here. Love matcha and the idea of a matcha based shop and so stopped by after seeing the window diplay. Sadly my matcha nog was very gritty and not well made, had a funky taste as well. Not great for more than $10 including tax. read more

If you're looking for a sweet matcha latte that you would typically get in any other cafe, this may not be your best choice. They have a very strong, thick, rich matcha taste. I added a sweetener but it was NOT sweet AT ALL. I had their strawberry matcha latte with homemade almond milk. The strawberry made the drink so sour and weird. the almond milk was "homemade" and very thick, creamy. I like the "homemade" and "healthy" vibe they were going for, but it was just not that good... It didn't satisfy my sweet tooth cravings and the typical matcha latte I would get anywhere else. read more

I just actually stopped to try this place last week! I work in the area and always walk by on my way into work every morning so one day I decided to stop. This place is super clean and super cute! I honestly was not sure which drink to get so I just went with the Earth glow iced matcha latte. After trying it I'm obsessed! Just today I went in and had one in the morning and went back for another after work. Also the staff is super sweet, I love this place read more

I found this Matchaful just opened up recently while shopping nearby. Tried their matcha drink but tastes very diluted. Nothing special. They also sell ice cream. But overall, flavor is MIE. The staff here seems all well trained. Polite and friendly. But I wouldn't come back for the drink. read more

I've been addicted to the Sunlight Spritz and the Matcha Colada which are both so refreshing. $10 seems like a lot but honestly it's cheaper than a glass of rosé at lunch and it's just as good, more work to prepare than just pouring it out of a bottle and in the end probably better for you. Let's keep this spot in the West Village alive. Best matcha drinks! read more

$8 matcha and bad. If you don't even have dairy milks, then it makes no sense to then charge for coconut milk or another alternative besides oat. No sweeteners, just iced matcha for $8. Not worth it. read more
