Our water heater, from 2006, decided to give up the ghost on Christmas Day. I waited until 8:30 this morning (the 26th) to wave the white flag. First to respond was Amanda at Mastercraft. Ahmad arrived by 9:30, a half hour early, and laid out our options. I was immediately impressed by his friendliness and clarity. He returned an hour or so later with Wyatt and less than two hours after that we had a new water heater. If the other quotes I received are to be believed, Mastercraft's price was more than reasonable. My wife and I are old -- need I say more? Major disruptions like this don't sit well. These two young guys, scarcely older than the water heater they replaced, gave us a renewed hope for, and connection to, the younger generation. We had a leak under the sink and need the garbage disposable replaced. Called MasterCraft Plumbers, the gal that answered the phone was sweet and got us a same day appointment. They came out and fix the problem quickly .They were very friendly and helpful. A couple days later the dishwater wouldn't turn on, they said it was probably not related but came and check it anyway. It was not related but they figured out the problem and got it to work. That is going above and beyond! I would definitely recommend them and will use them again in the future when needed. Updated Review: After the GM, Mike, saw my review below, he took the time to call me and apologize for his team not responding the way they should have. He offered to help cover the repair costs that I paid the other plumber, which was very generous and unexpected. I declined his offer, but wanted to update my review to 4 stars since Mike's actions demonstrate that he is truly committed to providing excellent customer service. Original Review: Our Airbnb guests informed us on a Saturday evening that water was leaking from underneath one of our bathroom sinks. We needed someone to respond right away and the Master Craft was the first company I called because they indicated they provide 24-hour emergency service. They had an answering service (which is understandable after hours) who said they would have someone call me right away. When no one called back within 45 minutes, I called them again and was told that the plumber must be busy but they would relay my message again. After waiting another 15 minutes for the call, which never came, I instead called Willis Brothers Plumbing. They not only answered the call, but drove to the house within 30 minutes. Willis Brothers provided great service and responsiveness. When I finally got a call back (on Monday) from Master Craft, I explained what happened and all they had to say was, "Well, you called on a Saturday night", as if responding to emergency service requests 36 hours later was completely acceptable. I actually wouldn't have given them a negative review if they had at least been somewhat apologetic or even friendly. But they were neither. read more

Unfortunately, I'm very unhappy with how they have handled an issue that came about after their work. When the work was done there were fairly obvious signs of water damage to drywall including growth of what looked like mold. When planning the work I was mostly concerned with dealing with the current situation including water pooling right under the water heater that I couldnt dry up. Only after the install did I ask about what I should do about possible water damage. The technician said "your insurance will cover that" and pointed me to remediation folks and went on his merry way. I later learned that remediation would involve UNinstalling the water heater and then later re-installing, which costs another $800 on top of the drywall repair. We decided not to use insurance since we have such a high deductible. If we had learned before proceeding with the install that we'd likely have to UNinstall the heater, I likely would have chosen a different option. I called to complain that I wasnt informed about this when I decided to proceed with the work. I would have been happy with at least a discount. The general manager said repeatedly, if I went with a normal remediation company he would not charge a dime, but pay if I went with my guy it would be $800 for MasterCraft to do the necessary plumbing. It made no sense. And it took 10 minutes of trying to figure out what he meant until he clarified that it should be free after getting reimbursed by insurance. Through all this he was completely ignoring that I was clear that I did not intend to use insurance. He then had the technician call me who proceeded to lie and say "we talked about all that before". He had apparently had a clear memory of a discussion, but could not be specific about what exactly we apparently discussed. After three phone calls on the issue they said they'd call back but havent. So at this point I feel totally gas-lit. That would be one thing if they said it wasnt their responsibility, another obfuscate and mislead.  Ultimately they installed a water heater on an obviously damaged surface without properly informing me, and then did whatever they could to get out of taking any kind of responsibility read more

I am traveling and my neighbor called to tell me we had a water leak in our front yard. Called MasterCraft regarding low water pressure in the house, but because it wasn't an emergency, it took a few days to get an appointment. The plumber Richard, let me know his arrival time and was able to quickly diagnose the problem which was the water softener which I don't use was on bypass. I asked them to remove that equipment so it could not happen again and they were able to finish all the work in about an hour. I was very happy with the result and with their prices. I recently purchased a 35 year-old home in Carlsbad and began a major remodel. MasterCraft is serving as the plumbing contractor on the job. We soon discovered that my original copper plumbing is buried in the concrete slab, making it virtually inaccessible. I've had personal experience with slab leaks (from in-slab plumbing) in the past. Repairing them afterwards is unbelievably expensive and disruptive. Given the age of the original plumbing, I knew it was only a matter of "when" it would happen again. My next door neighbors had a slab leak a few months ago and the repair was nightmarish. Our homes were built by the same original developer using the same 1980's techniques and are exactly the same age. MasterCraft recommended that we repipe my home above-ground as part of the remodel, using modern techniques and new materials to re-route plumbing inside the walls and ceilings, all above ground. They perform so many re-pipings in SoCal that they have staff who are specialists. Enter Bryson, a young and energetic MasterCraft plumber with a can-do attitude and an amazing ability to envision complex solutions behind walls and ceilings before removing any drywall. Bryson designed my new plumbing network and within six days, he and his colleagues (all excellent plumbers) had re-plumbed my entire home using a combination of high quality, gleaming new copper and PEX piping. I was very impressed by the professionalism and work ethic of Bryson and his colleagues. They put in long, hard hours and delivered an outstanding solution. I have a water heater failing at one of my rentals, the plumber Manny came to diagnose first thing in the morning and determined that a heating element had to be ordered before proceeding with the repair. Note that he was honest, he didn't try to say it couldn't be repaired and just sell me a new unit. The day the parts arrived, he was tied up in another big job until late evening. After both Brett (who handles the operations) and Manny learned that the tenant really needed the water heater for the family, Manny went over to finish replacing the parts even though it was late evening.
