I used to go to First Class Smog in Buena Park for last few years for all smog checks, but the place was too busy on the day that I called, which is why I ended up here. I think I will start going here from now on. Shop is cleaner and owner (Eddie) is friendly. Funny thing is I recently had my wife's car serviced at his brother's shop located on Orangethorpe & Valley View. This is a STAR certified test only center, which is what I needed for my car registration renewal. At the time of my arrival there was only one car ahead of me so I was in and out in about 15-20 minutes. All necessary documents were transmitted electronically to DMV and I got a paper certificate as well, just like at other smog test places. There's decent amount of parking but tend to get all taken up as there are numerous other car repair shops in this center. If you can't find parking, just park right in front of this shop and Eddie will take care of moving and parking the car somewhere. Price was comparable to other smog test centers, but didn't require having to use a coupon or Yelp check-in to get the lower price. read more

Came in for a smog check on Saturday. I would usually bring my vehicles here for a check but this time was an experience I would not forget and i won't return nor refer people this way. The tech rejected me and said I cannot smog your car due to internet issues. It was a Saturday and I had to get it done due to heavy hours with my work schedule. I looked for a smog check station around to find one that can fit me in. I ran across 1 of 2 stations that remained open late when all other smog check stations close around 2:00 pm. I came across smog express which didn't have that many good reviews. Then I came across First Class Smog that had extremely good reviews. So I decided to go to First Class Smog for my smog check. Upon arriving the gentleman greeted me, was extremely polite, and straight to the point. He smogged my car and went about my day saved me from waiting another week to smog my car to pay for my tags. We went in the afternoon on a Monday and we were worried that our car might not pass since we had just recently gotten it fixed. He was very friendly and welcoming even though we were one of the later customers of the day and overall the whole process was pretty painless. I've been here three times. First time, they sniffed my car no problem. They found the water pump was leaking. Second time, I arrived at 930, but there was a lineup and I couldn't wait. Needed a smog test to register my vehicle and drove by on the 11th. Saw a note posted on their front door stating business will be closed and will reopen on the 14th. Fast forward, Sat the 18th, checked yelp again to make sure they were going to be open. I did see a previous posted giving this place "1 star" for not being open and answering calls. Guess they were still closed. Owner Eddie did reply with his cell#. Gave him a call Say morning and he answered, he assured me they will be open by 9am. Drove there and they opened at 9am sharp. Was assisted by a gentleman and he took my car in for the inspection, took about 20 mins from start to end. Used the help check in for the discount and total was: $38. Eddie did call me later that day to make sure everything went wel, I did appreciate that. He did explain why he had to close for the family emergency but not my place to state the details.
