MasterSeal replaced my two security doors at the same time - my front door and my back door. The time between ordering the doors and installation was a little longer than I expected it would be, i.e., several weeks. While not a significant inconvenience, I assumed the lengthy wait was because they were busy manufacturing the doors, however, this may not be true. When the front door was manufactured, it was not built to align with the design of my existing wooden door that the security door sits in front of. Specifically, the lock rail on the MasterSeal security door (which is the area on the door that runs horizontally across the "waist" of the door, within which the door knob is set, and where the mail slot is located) sits ABOVE the lock rail on my wooden door (which also has a mail slot installed), making it look a little wonky. If it is important to you that the security door lock rail line up with the lock rail on your existing door, you need to discuss this with the sales person up front, before you place your order. IDK for sure whether or not they do custom designs to your specifications, but I assume that will add significantly to cost. The security doors MasterSeal installed are very heavy, are true security doors, and the locks and door knobs are very sturdy. They supplied two large, brass keys with each door. Installation included a heavy duty, pneumatic door-closer, which I hope holds up over time. It is somewhat difficult for me to get the key into the key hole, I think because the way this key and lock are designed, the lines in the key do not insert the same way as a Schlage lock, but IDK. It is also difficult for me to open this door, because the turning mechanism behind the door knob is tough (it takes added strength to turn the knob) and the door is extremely heavy. However, I appreciate they are heavy because they are security doors, meant to keep people out; I am only pointing this out for people who may be elderly or have disabilities. Several contractors who have been in and out of my house since the installation commented on the door hinges, which apparently are designed with some special brass lubrication mechanism, something I know nothing about. So you may want to ask about that because no one explained them to me, or how to oil the hinges. The sales person showed up on time, was kind, gave me his cell number for any future contact I needed to make, and answered the texts I sent to him after placing my order almost immediately, which was helpful because I have a lot going on right now with basement repairs and construction at the same time. I do think MasterSeal does need to implement some COVID-19 protections for both their sales people and their customers, however. My salesperson did not wear a mask and spoke at length inside my home, which I believe is not advisable by the CDC. The people at the office who I worked with for scheduling the installation, making some changes to the original order, and payment, promptly answered the phone each time I called, and were very kind, pleasant and nice to work with. The installer, Ron Behr, was also prompt, kind, pleasant, well-groomed, and professional. He went out of his way to remove a piece of hardware from my existing door for me, before hauling it away, he left no mess from his work, and was very easy to speak with. Ron also diligently checked to be sure the pneumatic door closer on each of the doors was calibrated correctly. The only negative about the installation process was the installation vehicle was not marked with anything related to MasterSeal, which I would have appreciated for my own feelings of safety (but I have absolutely ZERO complaints about Ron). I gave 4 stars instead of 5 to MasterSeal because of the un-aligned lock rail, which detracts from the view of the front of my house (which I would have liked to know about before placing my order), the difficulty of getting the key into the lock, and the lack of COVID-19 protections despite an overabundance of information available about this. read more

I just received a quote from the general manager. This joker comes in and quotes some astronomical number and when I tell him that number seems high and I was basing my budget on a blog post from their website dated January of 2024 ( https://tinyurl.com/3stxvcev ) which notes the price range for the door I was looking at. He then tells me that someone must have hacked their website and wrote that, but that is definitely not right. However, since he is such a 'nice guy', he'll knock off $500 from his original price. This price is still $4,000 more than the range quoted in their blog post. I then ask him about another door we wanted a quote on, and he just throws out some crazy number. Finally, I asked him about a coupon mailer I received that says if I buy one door the second is half off, and this guy tells me that that is only at full retail with no discounts ... It was an absolute joke. They wouldn't even provide a written estimate. This guy tells me I don't write estimates, I write contracts ... such the classic used car salesman. I couldn't get him out of my house fast enough. Master Seal Inc. might do great work, but I will never know and I'm fine with that. read more

We ordered a custom door for our basement that took months to come in. When it was finally scheduled to be installed, the appointments were canceled twice due to "weather", causing scheduling messes for both my husband and i. The first day, it flurried for 10 minutes in the afternoon. The second time, it was windy...Alicia, who answers the phone when you call was very nice and professional and wanted to help but there wasn't much she could do. I asked Alicia what master seal was going to do about this, said that we should be offered a discount. She did get us set up the following week for installation. But no discount. I've called since the doors were installed about water coming in but unable to take good enough pictures that the company could see what was wrong or what I was complaining about. Due to COVID and working from home, I was able to video what I've been complaining about and called immediately to report it. Had a terrible experience getting an appointment for an estimate, had it scheduled, for a confirmation call, got a call the night before that the appointment might not work, could they call in the morning. Then the person on the phone started talking about prices almost as though trying to talk me out of the door I thought I wanted. While I wasn't sure I was willing to pay that much, I could but really wanted someone to come out because my door frame is complex and non standard and I wanted to see what my options were at different price points. The GM arrived late after stating their was some grave accident. He walks in and steps on my plush rug with his shoes on. My experience felt like an experience at a used car auction. The GM quickly demonstrated his pitch and shortly after started writing numbers $2950, $1500, etc. The discussion was short he was just here for a check. To say that I am disappointed with this company would be the understatement of the year, and it is only March! In October 2016, I purchased a screen door and front door from MasterSeal. Even with their "buy one get one free" special, I paid 2900 bucks with the promise of a lifetime warranty! When the gentleman installed the door, he advised that we had to push the screen door shut, because we were on a hill, and the door wouldn't close as normal. Well, UPS attempted to make a delivery to my home, left the screen door open on a windy day, and two screws came loose. IF YOU HAVE PETS GET THE PET PROOF SCREEN - LIFE CHANGER!! I needed to replace the back doors of my home. The doors I had when I moved in where probably 50 years old and long over due. I called Master Seal and received an in depth consultation about what my options were. Of course my door frame was not "standard" so I know I would need something custom. The salesperson was very knowledgeable. He showed me the cut away from the door so I could see the insulation. He showed me different options for colors, styles and hardware. He explained the difference between the "basic" grade, and some of the better quality options. I went with several upgrades; nicer hardware, better locks. I chose a gorgeous interior door with built in blinds and paned windows. But the BEST part of the outer door was the "pet proof" screen. This is a MUST HAVE if you have cats or dogs that like to put their paws on the screen area of your door. The screen is made of a tough metal mesh. it looks just like a normal screen, but it's 100% tougher. It's safer too, as no one could cut or slice through it. I have cats with claws, and they have torn out numerous screens in my house. Not with this one! No way. Not ever gonna happen. Totally LOVE MY NEW DOORS. The installation guy was prompt, and worked quickly. I have a feeling the job took longer than he thought it would, but he stayed until 100% complete and even patiently answered all my questions. Awful, there should be a lower rating that 1 star. 5 months into a situation that we were told would be 6-8 weeks. Storm door is on it's 4th screen before they finally got it screened properly, it kept falling out of the frame. Just had the installer arrive with the 3rd piece of glass for the door, none of which have fit properly, Now have to wait at least another 4-6 weeks (so they claim) for another door to be made. It is November and we don't have a properly fitting storm door. I wouldn't buy a candy bar from this outfit. read more

This has got to be the most ironically named company I have ever contracted. I wanted a bow window for my kitchen. It not only cost a King's ransom (because of course, my window was a very UNUSUAL size), but they must have had trained monkeys do the caulking because it leaks like crazy. I wasn't home when they did the installation. By the time I realized the window leaked (hurricane season) I called them and demanded they fix it free of charge. I went through the normal process if requesting a price quote had an appointment . Then, the day before the appt, the salesman calls to cancel because I live too far and he only has one appt in my area. In other words selling doors to just one customer wasn't worth his time. I was very taken back by this obvious bait and switch tactic especially from a senior manager who signed my contract himself. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the process from the cancelled appointment to obvious price gouging. All he could say was sorry, we'll put your refund in the mail. So after about 6 weeks of trying to give masterseal a fair chance, broken promises, cashed deposits , they simply said we'll mail you a check and moved on. They installed a new front door and storm door. They put on the wrong hardware. They broke the inside molding and tried fixing it with caulk. Looks like a real mess. When it come to keeping out the cold, my old door was better. The weatherstripping wasn't properly installed. When I called they wanted 100.00 to come out an look at it. DO NOT buy windows or doors from this company. We had all 13 windows and our front door and storm door replaced 3 years ago. All of the caulking on all windows is cracked already, one window has a leaking issue, and one window has mold in between the panes of glass. When I called Master Seal they explained that they could see what they could do, but the window company that they used was not in business any longer. they send a most unprofessional and ignorant man to my house and charge $100.00 dollars for one bead of caulk on the leaking window only and with no explanation of what the of what the actual issue is or with no resolution besides we'll get back to you for the moldy window. Also, for another issue, one hand didn't seem to know what the other was doing. Someone from MS was sent out to make an adjustment on a patio door but said we needed a part. We were told that the part was ordered and that they would call us back with an install date. Not sure what happened, but approx. 2 months later, someone came out and looked at the lock and said it was fine and they nor anyone at MS was aware of anyone saying we needed a part nor who that original person was that said we did. This company primarily sells and installs doors made by another company. The doors are generally well-made. However, MasterSeal is barely trustworthy. The salesperson in particular can not be trusted. The customer is never given a breakdown of the prices, and he ensures that he overcharges you for absolutely everything he can. The lock on the storm door installed by Master Seal is defective. I have called, repeatedly, to have someone fix the lock. They quoted me a price of over $300 to install new hardware; a similar task was performed by a locksmith for $60. I was told the manager would call me...he has not. I wish there was a zero rating. The owner has no clue how to deal with customers. My first bay window had a crack in the seat board and they wanted to charge me to fix it even though the warranty covered defects in materials and workmanship. They took out the window and glued the crack when I told them that I would not accept that since the crack was growing. They finally replaced the window and the new one leaked like crazy, but you couldn't see where. The water would just collect on the seat board. After almost ten attempts to repair, with me leaving work to meet them ( both Masterseal and the window manufacturer attempted to affect repairs), I finally had to file with the Home Improvement Commission. The owner contacted me and told me they would pay for another company to install a different brand of window as long as I would drop the complaint. I was also lied to by the owner on several different occasions as well as yelled at and treated like I was ignorant about home improvements and how the Home Improvement Commission works. read more
