After 2 roof installations I can no longer recommend this company. In my most recent roof replacement, Charm City Roofing showed lack of professionalism and knowledge. I had my roof replaced, new gutter installed and some other things completed. I'll start with some positives first... the roofers came the day we scheduled and completed the install and the scope of work in 1.5 days. They also cleaned up relatively nicely! That's where my praises end. I've never really been compelled to write a review but after CCR fumbled our situation and show their lack of incompetence making it right I had to. Here's our experience. After the job was completed they sent the invoice and pictures of the job, pretty standard for this job. I could tell by the pictures some things were a little off. They also were further away shots so it didn't show the up close details. I could tell even by there pictures that the roofing seems were sloppy. I don't think it would have leaked or anything. But when you're spending over 10k for something you hope the product was produced with pride. I decided to climb on the roof and check things out for myself. When doing so my suspicions when correct. It was an overall messy install. But the thing that I also noticed also while I was up there was MY NEW GUTTER WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. On this rowhome they installed a 6in gutter sloped opposite to the downspout. And it just so happened it rained the day before... you guessed it, a few inches of rain sat in the gutter sitting stagnant. I get it, mistakes happen etc etc etc. people can use poor judgement. What I can't get over how they handled fixing it. They came out an additional 2 times before the gutter was corrected. They also "fixed" the sloppy seems by caking some silicon compound on the messy spots making it look even worst. The first time they came after completion to fix the gutter they realized the gutter they installed was too big for my house. You see, we have a vent pipe running up the back on the home that bows out near the gutter to allow space. They fit a gutter too big for the space and it really should have been a 5in gutter. Upon this discovery I thought, "Why did the first gutter (the 6in one) get installed if it didn't fit and it slopped the wrong way?" No one seemed to know this answer. They also didn't have the materials the fix it in the first visit back. So I need to schedule again, further wasting more of my time, for the roofer to return. The second time out the gutter was downsized to 5in and fixed completely. The office response to the whole situation was aggravating. They never once apologized or owned up to the fact that they make a mistake. Saying "I'm sorry" goes a long way. They adopted the tone that this was normal and that I was more so bothering them with the concerns I raised. In the end I finally said "What does your business do in situations like this to fix them (make it right with the customer) after it didn't go to plan." This was my last ditch effort for them to apologize and maybe credit back a small amount... I'm talking a 100-200$. After all we just wasted hours of our time communicating with the office and physically looking over their work. I never once demanded anything and I truly gave them every chance to make it right before I reviewed them. They responded back saying we fixed the problem and fulfilled the project work, pay us. Bad business practices if you ask me. Their below average work doesn't stop there! Back in 2021 they installed my first roof on a rental property in Canton. They came out multiple times after the work was completed too to fix problems. I'll keep this short since it was a past project. New roof and added skylight. Skylight leaked... had to return. Skylight leaked again... returned and fixed. Contractor dropped a ladder on neighbors awning and tried to cover up damage. They eventually replaced it. Placed a new exhaust vent on roof rafter so it was blocked. Returned and moved it over. From my 2 experiences with CCR they have a legacy of poor workmanship and lack of ownership.

Apparently they are unfamiliar with the fact that they are on Groupon so I had to call back when someone from the company was in the office to get on the schedule. They had availability for two weeks later. I wasn't in a rush so I don't mind the wait. I wasn't scheduled for the 12-4 time window. On the day of I had a work commitment that came up last minute. They were very accommodating when I called so I was pushed further back on the timeslot till after 3 PM so I could be home for the service. The technician Isaiah arrived and informed me what he was going to do. Afterwards he sent me a detailed report with photographs of my gutter system. Thankfully, everything looked good and I did not require any additional services after the cleaning and tuneup.

For the first time I realize I had been hearing a fair amount of outside noise (which I'd apparently gotten used to), because these windows/doors are soundproof; now I don't hear anything at all from outside! And even better, the windows are easy to open, and my sliding glass doors actually slide well in the track, and are not shaking and drafty when it's windy outside -- major improvements from my old, builder-grade, 20+ year-old windows/sliding door. Further, the service crew was excellent -- careful, kind, professional, efficient, and they cleaned up everything afterwards. Roger, the foreman, has been doing this work for almost 30 years, and Jose, who single-handedly carried in/out the windows/doors, has been doing this work for 10+ years. I didn't get the name of the quiet third service person who was mostly outside and on the ladders, also very efficient. fyi, they did mention that working on the 4th floor of our condos from ladders was a bit more challenging as the original builder-grade windows had been made to fit by being packed/taped in place from the outside, which necessitated them having to actually break some of the glass to be able to pull the old windows out. But they did it - and did it well. Finally, Shaun, the project manager who gave me my estimate and oversaw the project from estimate, HOA approval process, to completion, was great. Highly recommended.

My project was complicated because my 1980s drywall shafts were the wrong size for modern solar blinds. Instead of just "making it work" or creating a huge mess with drywall dust, Zach proposed a brilliant custom solution: building a clean birch veneer box with custom trim. It looks stunning and kept my house completely dust-free. What impressed me most was Zach's integrity. During the install, a small piece of my old plastic molding snapped. Instead of ignoring it, Zach took full ownership and replaced the trim on both skylights with upgraded foam-backed wood molding at his own expense to ensure everything was airtight and uniform. It is not a simple fix but an upgrade, for free. See the attached before/after pictures and the broken plastic. Like most customers, I contacted a few contractors before selecting Winfield Builders. Their price is VERY reasonable, and the communication through Yelp was professional and transparent. It is rare to find a contractor who cares this much about the details. If you want a crew that is honest, skilled, and delivers a beautiful finish, call Zach. 1000% recommendation!

Zach made a strong impression from the start--when he came out to inspect my roof and I told him of a problem area, he went up on the roof to look at it! Replacing the roof took only one day, the crew arrived early and worked very hard. I also had the gutters replaced, opting for 6" gutters. The larger size has made a huge difference, as they're less likely to get clogged. My home is in good shape thanks to Winfield Builders!

But then I spoke to Valerie and she is just so warm and friendly that I immediately got the best vibes. Wes and his partner then came out to do a free consultation to evaluate a few projects I needed done and were nice enough to give me different quotes for each. As someone who has to do proposals for their job, I can appreciate how tedious this step is and so I really appreciate that small gesture! The quotes were fair and reasonable and as soon as I signed off, the work was scheduled instantly. One thing that really stuck out to me, aside from the frequent updates from my girl, Valerie was when Wes called me to ask about HOA regulations for the railing I had replaced, as he noticed that all of the houses in my neighborhood (because he drove around to look on his own accord!) hafnd a different railing that I ordered. He wanted to bring it to my attention so I did not end up paying a ton of money for work that my HOA could potentially make me redo. I just think that is a the kind of service that builds trust. The work they did was fantastic. Any concern I had was quickly addressed and taken care of. I honestly could not have asked for anything more and they will definitely be my very first call for any and all future home projects!

Kelsey came to our house on Friday around 6 pm to give us an estimate to remove the solar shingles…read moreand replace with the regular asphalt shingles. She said the best way to figure out the condition of the roof is to go inside the attic and check the roof. She pulled down the attic stair and went up into the attic. She showed us the video. The entire roof condition is really bad. There are splinters and water marks on so many plywood sheets. The solar shingles are on the front and right side of the roof. My first idea was to just replace the part of the roof where the solar shingles are. Solar shingles were placed in 2014 as part of the re-roofing job. We didn't replace the plywood at that time. We went by the company who outbid the other company by 10,000$ because they said that we didn't need to replace the plywood. They just replace the old shingles with the new shingles and adding the solar shingles. They didn't show us what was happening with the plywood at that time. Kelsey was very accommodating to my idea. She said that if I insist they can replace only the half of the roof. But she showed us that some of the plywood with regular asphalt shingles on top were bowing due to the deterioration of the plywood. She reminded us that we will need to replace that part of the roof again in a couple of years. She suggested that it is better for us for the long term to replace the whole roof. If we replace only half of it, we will face the issue of not matching the color of the shingles and the roof will leak more and may create mold problems. The plywood is from the original house. It is 55 years old. I am 82 years old and my wife is 79 years old. If I replace only half of the roof, it will become the problem of our daughter and our grand-kids within few years. We decided to replace the whole roof as suggested by Kelsey, not by pressuring us but by showing the evidence and make our own decision. Then she showed us three options, the good, the better and the best. I liked some of the items in the better option and some items in the best option. She said it is possible to combine the items but she needed to talk to her boss. She called her boss right away. Shawn, her boss, created a custom option for us the way we want to combine the items. I told her some of the wordings in the contract are not clear. I want to put it in writing in the contract that all the solar related items will be removed not just the solar shingles. When she showed us the video, we saw three brand new comforters and two-wheeled child's bike in a box way back in the attic. We don't remember when we put them there. I asked her can the workers bring those things down for us because we cannot go up into the attic anymore. She said she will arrange for that. I want that in writing also. It was about 9 pm. She told us that it will be in final contract for all the things we agreed upon because the present contract options are already computerized. We signed the contract. We paid 1/3 deposit. The rest of the money will be collected when the job is completed to our satisfaction. Shawn told us that the crew will start their work on Monday. The next morning on Saturday, I texted Kelsey that I didn't receive the new contract yet. She texted me back stating that she has an appointment at 10 am for another job. She stated that when she came back from that appointment, she would finish the new contract and sent it to me. After going back and forth for a couple of times we got the final contract from her with all the wordings we want. On Sunday, she also coordinated with her production manager, Danielle. Kelsey is the person who makes this happen. She is very pleasant. She makes sure that the customer is 100% satisfied. She is the best. Danielle called me and told me that Elvin, the supervisor of the project, will call and explain to me what will be his plan of action for tomorrow. Then Elvin called me in the evening and told me that he and his crew will be at my house between 6:30 am and 7:30 am tomorrow, that is on Monday. They arrived at 7:00 am. They covered the rose bushes around our house with tarp, hanging down from the top of the roof. Elvin brought me the 3 comforters and the bike from the attic. He took 291 pictures of the project from the start to the finish and provide me a link to my e-mail so I can view the pictures and download the ones I like. He provided the link to the pictures while the job is going on, so that I can follow the progress of the work. The workers work very hard in 96 degrees temperature. They finished the job on Tuesday evening. It took 2 days for them to finish because the weather was very hot. They clean up really good after they complete the job. They picked up all the trash and nails around the house. Leo is the solar guy. He removed all the inverters and related items from the wall without damaging the brick wall. It is a joy to work with a company with dedicated employees who care for the customer.
