By the time we…read morewere done with him, he had repainted our living room shelves, hung up paintings and a mirror, bolted shelves to the wall, hung up a chandelier, and installed a filter into our air conditioning unit. We joke that he's our MVP. Not sure we need anyone else but him for household repair. He's trustworthy, diligent, and takes pride in his work. He's also multi skilled and honest. We also trust his judgement immensely, and that is a rare find and invaluable. Would happily recommend him to anyone.

While he was here to paint I asked him if he could hang up some blinds, a new mirror vanity in the bathroom, a sliding door, he just pops the items out of the packages doesnt even need to read instructions and 1,2,3 done whatever I asked him he was able to do and makes it look so easy. I also asked him to pick up a very large item for me while he was at home depot and he went out of his way to go to a different home depot which had the item I needed and found and hired a driver to deliver it because he could not fit it in his car. He also built a TV wall for me from scratch and went and purchased all the necessary items to do it. If you are not happy with something he will correct it. Honestly he is a wonderful hard working person and is very dependable, which is so rare to come by these days! I'm so glad I found him because now I call him when I need anything done in my apartment and he always makes time to come and gives me a very reasonable price and is very professional and polite. You wont regret hiring him for any job, I will hire him for all my future painting and home improvement needs!

(Every other person we emailed for a quote did the same. None came to visit, and with COVID I was cool with that.) His quote was consistent with most of the other highly rated folk we reached out to for quotes. What set him apart was his clear emails with detailed pricing. It was clear that he knew painting was expensive, and people imagine doing everything at once and think of it as all-or-nothing. His pricing model showed it was some-at-a-time. (We did go all in though :) ) He was very responsive on email and answered questions from the mundane to the esoteric with patience and clarity. He came the day before the job was supposed to start to drop off supplies and map out everything that was should happen with me and his team. His team was great, polite, and professional. The speed and quality of the work was amazing. Everyone was happy to answer questions and explain what was happening. For me, the true test was with an accident that happened. Relatively minor, but Damian took full ownership and made it right without any discussion. That is how you do it. He gave great advice throughout the process, and respected what I needed. Have already asked for quotes on additional spaces in the house. Highly recommend.

Grout Pros NYC - The completed job with finishing touches

If you are lucky enough to have landed on Grout Pros' NYC Google listing, please do yourself an…read moreimmediate favor: stop stressing, end the analysis paralysis, step out of the panic loop and contact Elizabeth and Daniel ASAP. The universe is positively intervening in a way you cannot even fathom right now. I say this because I was YOU less than 48 hours ago. My nightmare started when I hired a "contractor" through TaskRabbit with 600+ five-star reviews to fix and paint a peeling bathroom window along with some regrout touch-ups. Straightforward, right? Well, on Day 2 at 6pm on a Thursday, less than 72 hours before my guest's early Sunday arrival, he scurried away mid-job and left the window's wood and metal frame in worse condition than when he started. He used a chemical paint remover that compromised the surface, then left when things got complicated. No referral. Just a "sorry" and out the door. Now I had less time, a worse problem, and no clear path forward. Enter NYC Grout Pros. Elizabeth initially told me they were booked until Monday, which I understood, but once she heard my timeline, she led with empathy and assured me she and Daniel would make Friday work. It felt like a miracle! I went to sleep knowing I wasn't alone. Friday, Daniel arrives around 2:30pm, and what struck me immediately was how supported he was by his team. One of his colleagues--on THEIR day off--came by just to deliver tools and materials he'd need. That level of coordination and sacrifice, especially under pressure, is rare. What Daniel walked into was no longer simple. The wood had been compromised, sanding was difficult, and the timeline ruled out conventional approaches. He assessed everything calmly and made a critical call--the current path wouldn't get this done in time. At 5pm on a Friday, without hesitation, he drove nearly two hours through West Village traffic to his shop in Westchester to custom cut wood for my window and source the right materials to actually solve the problem--not just patch it. He then drove back into Manhattan, arriving around 8:30pm, and worked until 11:30pm. And, true to his word--came back by 10am the next morning, on a Saturday--HIS day off--and a day where he had meaningful personal commitments, and still worked until everything was completed to the highest standard. The Result: the window was fully repaired, the grout issues were smoothed out, and the bathroom was spotless/usable. I was able to keep my promises to my guest because of Daniel. But what impressed me most is who Daniel is as a person. He is not only exceptional in his craft--he is an even more exceptional human being. I was under pressure. I had already lost time and money. I was dealing with someone else's poor judgment. And Daniel kept reassuring me: he was on my side, he wouldn't abandon the project, and he would get it done. Although I was a complete stranger--one of millions of people in NYC--he treated me like a longtime friend he was willing to move mountains for. And boy did he. He never made me feel like a burden or like he'd been stuck with a bad job. There was also a generosity of spirit that permeated his work. My partner had ?'s about installing new flushmounts, and Daniel took the time to coach him through an example so we'd feel confident doing it ourselves. One micro-moment spoke volumes. After hours of driving and working late, he still cleaned thoroughly--bathroom spotless, tools neatly placed. As we walked out, he noticed dust from his boots in the hallway and instinctively dropped down to clean it, saying he didn't want to leave the building that way. That level of care--at the very end of a long day--is not something you can fake. I also appreciated how highly he spoke of his team, especially Elizabeth. It's clear they are a close, experienced group that genuinely support one another--and it shows. What they did for me went far beyond fixing a window. Hearing "I got you" felt like 1000 pounds lifted off my shoulders--I've found my dream creative partners and I know I can trust them with any project moving forward! And so should you!

We had a minor miscommunication on color and they fixed it without issue. I learned they have long-standing, high-quality employees and were actually able to have the guy who worked on our bathrooms a couple years ago chime in on what he did when we had questions. Grout Pros are terrific.
