Hours before my appt, they sent me a message saying my appt from over a year ago was not covered by insurance, and i must pay in full before i can receive my current appt- did not understand how that had not been communicated to me once within the over a year gap between appts. But i persisted with the appt, and once I had arrived I was asked what my new vision insurance plan was in specific- i did not know the specific name of the plan off the top of my head, and received no help in figuring it out, even after handing my insurance card over & being told if i go thru insurance it will "actually cost more". Thus leaving me to pay for this appt in full as well in addition to the last year appt- close to $300 in one hour spent. (Until i do their job for them, and call my insurance to be reimbursed) During my actual appt, the doctor had a very unfortunate attitude, and had made off putting comments towards me that felt like personal jabs following her asking "did i see you the last time you were in" and me stating that "i don't remember". From her comments, i came to the conclusion that she'd rather i be close to legally blind than have "not much of a prescription." - even though she simultaneously diagnosed me with 2 separate eye malfunctions. I left feeling as though she thought i was a liar who just wants to have cute glasses ha! I will say, the tech who first saw me was very sweet and professional!! Definitely would not recommend, and will not be returning for my next annual check up. read more

Dr Scott Hruby performed my exam today, and I feel like I won the jackpot after seeing him. He took a great deal of time with me and explained all the situations I had going on with my eyes. I have extremely dry eyes, and it's affecting my cornea. He prescribed a medication to help with that problem, which no other eye doctor had ever done before. He explained every part of my exam, his findings, and compared my last exam and tests with this exam. He explained prisms, and was the first to tell me a lens replacement surgery would work well for me. He asked me to do a pop-in exam in 2-3 weeks to let him know how the medication helped my dry eyes and how my glasses were working for me. I highly recommend this Master Eye location, staff, and Dr. Hruby. read more

Southpark Meadows location Just don't. My vision insurance changed and so I had to schedule my annual vision test. Scheduleling the appointment was very easy. First clue...cheap furniture amd empty waiting room except formone person who walked in before me. Second clue, they asked for my medical insurance. Then they start in with all the "other" tests they "HAVE TO DO". I had already had the test they were talking about earlier in the year due to an eye infection and this office person literally asked if I had proof of the test. Excuse me? If I said I had the test that should have been the end of it, but basically calling me a liar was a little more than I am going to tolerate. I asked for my ID and walked out. If you have any other option, use it. This place is basically a mill. Last clue, they didn't ask the person before me the same questions they asked me. read more

I appreciated the time they took to train my 12 year old on how to insert and remove contacts. When they saw she was having ton trouble as a first timer (with long nails) one of the office guys reached out to his girlfriend that had her own tips. that was very thoughtful. Overcharge more than any other eye exam place I've ever been. Had conjunctivitis was told has to go on my medical insurance card not my eye insurance card. Paid 95 to get a script for some steroids. Should've just called teledoc. Will be looking for a different eye exam place for sure. read more

The drs are very kind and seem to know what they are doing but the "office manager" Maggie who is also the receptionist is completely condescending and will not let you see a dr again if your prescription is not correct the first time...unless you went next door and purchased the overpriced glasses they offer. This place will NOT help you get the glasses you need. We are out a lot of money from trying to give this place a chance, do not make the same mistake. read more

The front desk girl called me the day before my appt and leaves me a voicemail saying they must reschedule my daughter's contacts lesson at 6pm. My response was I clearly on your website I saw 6 pm appts on Tuesday's available... I had scheduled it way in advance to be told they can not provide the full service because their staff leaves at 6. Worst customer service experience of my life. I booked a 6pm appointment, received both a confirmation email and call. I called at 5:59 letting them know I was parking. They said no problem. Then a few seconds later they called back to say the dr had left. I went inside and asked why the dr would leave knowing he had an appointment. The receptionist then admitted to me she had lied and the dr was actually there but refused to provide service. WOW!! They feel entitled to wasting your time and lie to your face. Ok so they didn't bring me back my apt time no big deal. However I do have an issue with them trying to make me buy retina pictures and saying it is required. No it is not required! But you can do which is paid by your insurance %100 is dilate eyes instead of the retina picture. It's the same thing. The person stated do to covid we aren't doing dilation. That is an excuse. I use to work for an optometrist and the retina pictures is an up sale. So walked out. If this is something you guys as a company require then you should pay for it. Not the customer when they have another option that is covered by there insurance. $39.99 for retina pictures or free dilation! Which would you choose! read more

It's sad to say this but I hadn't been to the eye doctor in twenty years. I've always had perfect vision and I didn't see the need for a check up. Well I'm in my early thirties now and found reading small text to be challenging. So I scheduled a eye exam through Master Eye. The assistant was friendly and very thorough in his explanation of each test to insure I was doing them correctly. I opted for the digital retinal photograph which the doctor went over in detail. We found the prescription I needed and now I'm looking good in a new pair of glasses. The doctor was great, she also was easy on the eyes. I had a really great experience with Dr. Herrera. Him and his staff were super friendly and were really quick to see me. There was an additional mandatory exam that I'm glad I got. It took images of the insides of my eyes and showed me a couple of things that I hadn't seen in previous exams. It was a 39 dollar charge, but worth it. My only complaint was that there was another customer ahead of me who was making a scene about something. Obviously not the doctor's fault, I will be back the next time I need to see the eye doctor. read more

Dr. Eaton and staff were excellent! Making appointments online was a breeze and there was no long wait to see the doctor. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful even while handling multiple things at once. This was the first time I'd had the Optomap test and Dr. Eaton went over the results thoroughly. I'm new to Austin and deal with some significant anxiety when it comes to finding the right health care providers. Needless to say I wasn't sure what I was walking into when I was referred to Master Eye Associates by my health insurance. I will say that the ability to schedule your own appointment online is fantastic. I was able to schedule a check up for the same day and with the phone call and text message reminders from the office, I felt at ease knowing they were trying to keep their patients engaged. From walk in, to paperwork, to check up and exit, the staff and Dr. Eaton were wonderful in terms of the rapport, care and kindness they showed. I went for an eye exam 2 years ago and had additional tests done that my insurance denied. I am now receiving a bill for 58.00 which I'm sure I had paid over the last 2 years as I have never not paid a bill for services. I just got off the phone and that was the worst experience I've ever had in customer service. I have a chemical burn in my eye ouch is an understatement. I expressed this to female, stating I needed to get in. She proceeded to take my insurance information. A gentleman then got on the phone told me my cost then proceeded to tell me they couldn't get in today. You just waisted my time, why take my information, waste 15 minutes of my time only to tell me they don't have space. read more
