Everywhere was closed so I went into nearby Newtownards and found the Ruby was still open. The old Chinese guy seemed really annoyed that I was ordering at this time as he was about to close shop. A chicken fried rice with curry was the order, £7.70 the price (+Diet Coke). I waited in silence for ten mins as I heard him cooking up my midnight feast. I then recoiled in horror as I heard him 'hawking up a flemer' that is Ulster Scotch for 'bringing thick lung mucus to the forefront of his mouth from the depths of his bronchioles'. I then heard him spit loudly followed by muffled laughter. When he brought the meal to me I immediately questioned him "did you just f***ing spit in my meal"? he started laughing and suddenly the only word he could speak was "thank you, thank you" I was not 100% sure he hawked in my curry as the view of the kitchen is blocked off by a wall but there was no way I was eating this meal. I took it away an inspected it in my car and to be fair I couldn't find his flemmer but I feared it was stirred into my portion of curry sauce. I will however be giving the meal to the appropriate authorities to see if saliva is present in the meal and if that's the case, may the law suit commence. Avoid at all costs.

I'd forgotten that I don't particularly like items bearing the name "curry" in a Chinese restaurant and so regretted my choice but was still determined to explore further. On my second visit, sitting in, I had chicken skewers for starters and vegetables in Korean kimchi for my main. Both were absolutely delicious and I don't think my third visit is very far away.

I've now…read morevisited this Chinese twice in a month and the main reason I went back was because of the quality of the food. On both occasions I ordered a salted chilli chicken with noodles and a chicken Kung po with chips. The portion sizes are excellent and unlike other Chinese takeaways they don't scrimp on the meat. You can order to collect or for it to be delivered at a small fee. I've collected my order on both occasions with it only taking around 25 minutes to cook. Price wise you're looking at £13 for two main meals and two sides which is fantastic. The menu is expansive so you'll be spoilt for choice. Check out the pic! Movilla Palace (only a Chinese could be named that) just so happened to be the closest takeaway to the house of the child I used to babysit, and so was frequently called upon for a late night binge. My boyfriend at the time would call them up, and then hop in the care for the two minute journey to the Chinese to collect the food. They were always quick, the black bean chicken chow mein was good, and the prices were totally affordable...£ 5.30 for the aforementioned dish, and only £1.60 for chips. Sweet. Yep, this place did nicely as a temporary replacement for King's Court. No hard feelings, eh?

The carryout itself is nice enough, I like the fish tank that you can check out while you wait but unfortunately I have always found that there will be a bit of a wait in this place. Even if you are getting food for one or two you can easily expect a wait of about 10-15 minutes, which I think is a little bit too much. The food is nice, if you like a basic chinese with not too many frills and spills then this place won't be a dissappointment. It has a good location, near to the main Rathgael Road as well as close proximity to an ATM, which I think is a good thing.

My pet hate from here is that they do not have a card machine so cash payments are required in-store but an ATM is very close by so not really a big issue.
