I went here with a big company of mine (approximately 30 people) for the lunch buffet. The employees were really kind and helped us to our seats and made sure everything was okay. The food was good, a regular Chinese buffet - nothing outstanding but it tasted good. They were also alert if someone had allergies and called the chef out. Don't waste yourself on starters. Same with dessert. The best thing to have dessert wise is whippy ice cream,crepes and battered banana. You can get takes away boxes to fill and take away with you. China China is a pretty decent Chinese restaurant in the Queen's Quarter of Belfast. It's a buffet style eatery, which just means one thing - Competition time. Mealtimes here always turns into a secret competition with whoever you are with, about how many plates you can have; then everyone will talk tactics, like the first plate should be meat only, no point in wasting room with rice etc etc. It's a bit of fun. The food you can expect here is all the usual take away style Chinese, and a lot of it. It is constantly being brought out to refill the buffet table. It's all pretty good too. The place is a little dark and in need of a facelift, but that is grand since they are just about to move round the corner. All in all, it's a good fun dinner out. I came here recently with a group of friends and had high expectations as every time I pass there are truck loads of people either coming out or going in, however I was left somewhat disappointed. The food, for a buffet, was ok. It didn't offer anything that was any different to other Chinese buffets and at times the food was a little dry. The teppanyaki grill was a welcome surprise, i ordered squid and dumplings.The squid was very chewy however the dumplings were delicious, I could have eaten a massive plate of those and been very happy! All in is an all you can eat buffet so it is pretty good in terms of value for money. If your looking for a big feed at a low cost give it a shot! read more

I'm not normally a fan of buffet style restaurants but enjoyed my first China China visit today, Wednesday 20.07.2016. I popped in for lunch with three friends as our usual Chinese restaurant rendezvous spot was closed over the July holiday season. Everyone in my party enjoyed the food and we will definitely return. Initially I thought there were very few vegetarian options for myself but soon discovered an array of vegetarian dishes including crispy seaweed, mushrooms, garlic potatoes, rice, noodles, mixed vegetables, spring rolls and a range of sauces such as satay, curry, black bean and sweet & sour. For this unlimited buffet and a soft drink the cost was circa £9 per person (the lunch time buffet itself is £6.99). China China may not be fancy or pretentious but it does offer a huge range of tasty oriental food which is ideal for quick lunches or dinners. Next time I'll have a main and dessert instead of two mains ;-)) read more

All you can eat buffet, decent selection of food that is regularly replenished after 7pm more options become available including a teppanyaki cooking station although the chef seemed a little reluctant to serve anything from it. Tried some of the squid which unfortunately was overcooked and rubbery. From the buffet itself the crispy seaweed was delicious as were the garlic prawns and mussels but again rubbery squid. Salted chilli prawns & chicken were also very good and the prawn toast was good. Spring rolls were disappointing, mine seemed to have missed out on having any filling. Lots of choice for dessert including freshly made crepes. I went for crepe with chocolate sauce, whippy icecream (that you serve yourself) and a banana fritter with syrup...yum! The fritter had just enough crispy batter and wasn't stodgy. China china seems to be a popular spot including busloads of Chinese tourists and certainly during peaks can be difficult to access the buffet and dessert area as there isn't much space. They seemed to struggle with drinks orders from a large party and with some being forgotten about. If you want lots of food for not a lot of money it's not a bad place to go but be prepared to wear your loosen your trousers because despite best intentions you will eat too much and leave feeling bloated! read more

China China cleans up in the university region and for good reason: it provides lot of food for low low prices. All you can eat lunch for 6 quid, where you can also fill a doggy bag to bring home? Around ravenous students? Are these people sane? Do I have control of my question asking senses and punctuation marks on my keyboard? I don't know anymore! The restaurant is quite nice on the inside with a bright, clean and contemporary style with plenty of leather seated areas to caress your cheeks as you consume far too much food. As for the food, it is all solid and nice, if somewhat unspectacular. When you can go up and down to get all the curries, satays, chow meins and fried rice varieties you want, it is hard to go wrong. The only area for improvement would be to increase the range of desserts which is frankly rubbish, but the recent-ish addition of a whippee style ice cream machine is rather good and had led to some frankly ridiculous ice cream height competitions between my friends and I! read more

Joined the fellow yelpers here last night at the yelp world food tour in Belfast, although a little dubious about the all you can eat buffet I was won over having checked the website and seeing the option of live cooking station. Having taken a few laps to check out the offer, I had to avail of the buffet as their was no chef at the hot plate cooking station. It look a minute or two to find plates stored in hot cupboard...out if plain sight, but I suppose they choose to have warm plates rather than stack them on a counter top. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food on offer. I chose some good chicken beef and seaweed options. Picked up a pancake and duck but found no accompaniments. The pancake dried up once hitting the air,maybe been in bamboo basket a little too long. There was no fish or seafood options at this time. Salad options were basic and not overly appetising or inline with food offer. Sushi in same fridge, looked good but wasn't the best. After 7pm i noticed a staff member at live cooking station and followed yelpers in ordering some freshly cooked food, i chose squid. Mine was fresh and quite well cooked although very garlicky, others reported theirs over cooked. The buffet seemed to being topped up well after 7pm, at the end i noticed salted chilli king prawns which were tasty and hoisin, cucumber & scallion for the duck pancake. I only wished they had been topped up for our arrival at 630pm. Shared a crepe with my friend which was great as cooked in front of you,there were a few other dessert options of tinned fruits, jelly, ice cream and Sara Lee style banofee. Not my cuppa tea. Overall food for main meals was quite good, service for drinks was quite scatty with a new guy working our large party and more staff appearing after 7pm. Probably could have been a little more organised with food levels of most popular dishes for a large group of yelpers visiting. Recommend to those looking a big feed, perfect places for students and office workers for a cheap lunch. read more

There is really low amount of space, so I wouldn't recommend going there on Saturdays as you will find yourself squeezing through enormous amount of hungry and very noisy people. Good quality food, some of it has nothing to do with China, but that's because of demand on mixed origin food. First impressions were good we were greeted by a friendly waiter who swiftly got us a round of beers. I started with the chicken and sweet corn soup which I thoroughly enjoyed, packed full of flavour and had a wonderful smooth consistency. The starters I chose from the buffet were sticky ribs, chicken sesame, spring rolls and salt and chilli chicken wings which were all delicious. The mains were well presented and looked lovely and fresh I just had a bit of everything the highlight was the sweet chilli chicken. Always see a lot of Asian tourists visit this place so thought it had to be tried! Decor is modern and the restaurant looks clean. Price depends on what time you visit but it would be worth going to the grand buffet from 7pm as everything from the live cooking station is cooked in front of you. The food from the standard buffet selection is grand - plenty of choice, some nicer than others. Definitely go for the crepes for dessert!! Cocktails are good and can get 3 for £10. I took my two friends there to Masala Masala that very good Indian restaurant but it was gone and replaced by China China. It was late and we were hungry so we decided to give it a go. The staff there were very good and friendly. The atmosphere wasn't bad. The toilets are clean and good. The building was nice. We thought it was because of this, the food should be good. But no, the food wasn't good - typical Irish-Chinese food (which I hated) and our friend K. who is sensitive with food - she went for plain food in the Chinese buffet yet she got an upset tummy afterwards and she had to stay in the toilet for a long time - im not saying the food is bad but they are greasy, not well cooked etc. Bargain for what you have paid i.e. 9.99 for all you eat - over 60 different dishes but most are fairly simple. The pork wasn't good (maybe overcooked?) - the chicken is good (but its the same anywhere, its easy to cook chicken). The only good thing about the place (apart from the friendly and hospitable staff) was the banana fritters and the ice cream (which was brought in from outside. My friend Paula and I agreed that its not worth coming back - we thought its a real pity as we really enjoyed having the good attention from the waitress in her 30s/40s who checked on us constantly. For that, we would give them 4 stars - but I usually review places for food :-) Its great for groups - we saw that there was a group of 10 university students which is nice. Quality food, no. China China's buffet let me a little disappointed. I have been there twice and both times I thought 'Um yeah pleasant' and that was all. It doesn't blow you away. At one point, I felt I was eating because it was all you can eat and not because it was nice. I think that's the main issue I have with China China. It's fine but I've never managed to warm to it as much as other people have. The food is of a pretty high quality and I would say a step above what you would usually get out of a takeaway. If you're all about the portions and you love Chinese then this is the place to be in town. Set over two huge floors this eaterie boast as massive 'eat as much as you like' buffet with a ton of different price options. The food itself is pretty average Chinese but it is quite hard to argue with the selection (50 flamin' different dishes!) and the prices. However due to the size of the place it never gets too crowded and there's always an attentive waiter to hand to get you drinks or answer a query. I usually opt for the 'pick and go' option which is quite a sport in itself...see how much food you can get into the takeout container for £3.99. Only rule is that it must close so choose wisely. This actually runs all day so if you don't have time to sit in or paying the extra £2 for the lunch buffet, this is a great option. Worst buffet I've ever been to. The food was undercooked and obviously the cook doesn't know what Chinese food tastes like. I'm not a picky eater either, but the only thing I could stomach was some rice. Then on top of that my margarita cocktail came, even I've made a margarita better than it. It tasted like bath water, I even got my friends to taste it to make sure it wasn't just me. The tables were so close together I was getting bumped into every time I took a mouthful, this restaurant needs to focus on quality not quantity - something I thought we all learnt in school. If that wasn't bad enough, when we went to get the bill i said my margarita was awful and I don't want to pay for it, and the man on the till "couldn't take it off" so I asked for a manager to which he looked at his watch and told us he was on holiday until next week...then after a while complaining he said he could get his supervisor - which I would consider the same as a manager. After a chat trying to prove I didn't drink any of it the supervisor finally allowed the drink to be taken off our bill. Which the man behind the till could do without a supervisor password. They told us we should have ordered another cocktail but if they can't make a margarita which consists of three ingredients I don't trust them to make anything else. Will never be visiting this place again and I really urge you not to even bother going, there are plenty of other Chinese places in Belfast which have customer service and Chinese food... read more

I'm not a fan of having mass produced frozen foods at a restaurants so this place dud nothing for Me. I usually avoid buffets like the plague, but after several hours of walking and a day out at the museum, we couldn't turn down the chance to have a late lunch for 5.95 per person and free for the wee one! There are a variety of "Irish" Chinese food including curry sauce, gravy, salt and chili chicken, chips etc. Fresh fruit and salad are also available. You get prompt service and the food was decent. It's definitely something I wouldn't do often, but I really can't complain. I tried small portions, if I didn't like it, I didn't finish it, but there wasn't a huge amount of waste on my plate. Do keep an eye on the clock if you go for a late lunch, because you are charged the dinner price if you leave when the dinner hours begin. We go to China China restaurant every Sunday. The choice of food, the quality of food and service are just superb. Very relaxing. My daughter and my son love this place despite they are just 6 and 4 years old. By the way, kids under 5 eat for FREE! Considering current economic situation, this type of restaurant really offer the better value for money. I personally recommend to all my friends. Sometimes we have to wait for 15 minutes to get the seats on Sunday, but well worth it! read more

I love this place. Every so often, when we really feel like a proper feed, we head to China China. Usually we've gone with a massive crowd, sometimes up to 40 people in one group quite late in the evening, and they always accommodate us. The staff are very obliging and polite, and don't mind taking our drinks order for each person individually - which must be a pain for them. The place is clean and bright, and the food - what a choice! Everything from duck pancakes, chicken satay, curries, noodles, chow mein... I could go on and on. And I usually do - when I'm eating it that is. With all you can eat for a tenner it doesn't get better than that to be honest - and it's not bad quality food - nothing is below par, it's all tasty and fresh. There is a massive selection of desserts too - so all sweet-tooths are catered for. This place is handy to the main drag, and smack bang in the university area, so no wonder it does well when students have the munchies. A great place and great grub. I used to be a huge fan of this place in my University days (it's literally a 30 second walk from the main campus) and if you're on a budget, then it is great food. But if you have a bit of extra change jingling in your pocket, then I would skip it. The waiters are lovely, but management staff are frankly quite rude. Dignity does somewhat fly out the window screaming when you talk about all-you-can-eat establishments but to be honest from time to time places this have to be welcomed. I'd been watching what I was eating for a week or two, sticking to lots of protein and trying to avoid huge quantities of carbs (substituted with liquid carbs however although really they don't count in my jaded mind) China China basically broke the diet - two floors of Asian buffet where I suppose you don't really feel like you're getting good value unless you clear at least two plates. We were upstairs, a long heat lamp lit sections surrounded by wooded chairs and tables. The range is solid - from won to to Cantonese style beef, honey chilli chicken and the rest. The food is pretty good - depending on what time you go the prices do change, I think in our bracket it was £7 each. It is fresh and beautifully cooked with mouthwatering flavours. With a 2 storey restaurant in Belfast and a sister restaurant in Bangor hot foot it to China China for an incredible dining experience. This is a great place if you want cheap and plentiful, decent, chinese food. All you can eat buffets are a new thing to us Northern Irish, normally we get small portions of food for a high price, the phenomenon of an all you can eat means you seriously pig out each time you go, I did anyway, lol. After a few visits you realise that the food in itself is decent enough but pretty bland for Chinese cuisine, after eating bad quality chinese takeaway food for years we have come to expect what we are given, if you have a more advanced tastebuds and have tried authentic Chinese food, you know that the mass produced chinese food in China China is not all that great, but at the price im not complaining. Like everything you can get too much of a good thing, you would'nt make a visit a regular thing, but for special occasions its first class. The Restaurant is clean, staff are friendly enough, although they being chinese you dont get much interaction with them until its time to pay the bill. We always enjoy having dinner at China China, especially my kids. The quality of food and service is absolutly 1st class. Out family had lunch last Sunday, the people sitting beside us really embarassed us a lot, when the waiter asked the age of the little girl, she said 6, but her mum shouted to her and said NO, SHE IS 4,... I can clearly see what's going on being a father of three young kids!
