This is a HUGE complex spanning MILKED of mountainous territory. We stayed at the summit condos. This location was about 3 miles away from anything else on the property. Due to this anytime anyone had something scheduled to do we had to arrange how to get people from point a to b with only one car. This proved to be a HUGE hassle. The rooms - well ours needed a BIG update. The furniture was horrid. The couch cushions flattened into nothing and you sunk in the couch anytime you tried to sit. The best thing that could have happened to any of the living room furniture was to throw it off the deck. The bed was a giant non supportive marshmallow that caused me GREAT back pain. You could literally feel the dents from where people slept on it. It was awful. The kitchen was ok as passable at best. It had the world's loudest ice maker and dishwasher I've ever heard. Both looked like they belonged in the 90s. Onto the activities. Beware you will be nickled and dimed for EVERYTHING and that is so not a joke. The one class that cost $15 was for the kids to make a gnome home. They used an old milk carton and about $2 in crafting items. I'm probably being generous saying it was $2 of crafting material total. The escape rooms didn't work right and actually broke while we were there. On and beware things shut down on Thursdays for whatever reasons. So literally we went into town and spent time there cuz there was nothing to do on the resort. The pools are ok sized but have little to no shade. What shade that was there was quickly gobbled up by seat hogs that refused to move. I'm convinced people walked in saved their seats and left. The amount of stuff on chairs did not match the number of people who were there. This made the pool extremely hot and uncomfortable on the extremely hot days when we were there. Overall we traveled with 6 kids ranging in ages from 15-22. All were bored by day 3 and looking for things in town to do. Beware of the super strong timeshare pitch that you will be contacted about. While the tour they gave was nice there's no way I'd buy a timeshare there. Would not do again.

I got a guided tour of the history and its history, Wow! I stayed in the gold room and I loved it! Big, so comfortable, clean, with original decorations. I felt like in a real living old-time home. The description and online reviews painted a picture of a quaint antique-filled farmhouse. This is true. I loved the antiques! The player piano and some furnishings reminded me of my childhood home. The innkeepers showed us around the first floor of the B & B and told us Keurig coffee was available anytime. We were told we could use the wine glasses on the buffet and there were bottles of water in the mini-frig near the dining room. They brought us to the Bridal Room, which was furnished in antiques. We asked for a restaurant recommendation and were not disappointed with their suggestion of Hank's Grill. When we returned later reality set in. There was no water in the mini-refrigerator. There was no closet, the armoire was too dirty and dusty to place our belongings, and the only hook fell off the bathroom door. The following evening we noticed our room had not been tidied, we had already made the bed but towels were not replaced, the shower gel dispenser which was almost empty hadn't been refilled, and the single tiny waste basket was not emptied. I am aware many hotels and inns eliminated daily cleaning since COVID, but it was not noted on the Cave Hill B&B website, nor did the innkeepers inform us. There should have at least been additional towels delivered outside our door, or four sets of towels in the room the first day and shampoo and shower gel filled. The first-morning juice glasses and a beautiful empty pitcher were on the breakfast table but there was no juice or water, therefore no beverages for non-coffee or tea drinkers. When we returned that night the walkway was so dark I needed a flashlight. We planned to have wine on the deck off the upstairs hallway. (The deck was a plus.) There was only one wine glass and it had a fingerprint. The following morning no glasses were on the breakfast table and there was still no water. We would have loved to learn more about the farm and cave but the only times we saw the innkeepers were at check-in and breakfast and that was only for a few minutes while she placed the breakfast on the table. We did not see the innkeepers, nor get a "Hope you enjoyed your stay" at check-out, the process is to leave the key in a basket. Cave Hill B & B is an interesting property with lots of potential but it needs a good cleaning and some Virginia hospitality.

This place is awesome!!!…read more Check In: Check in was a little farther away from the other check in at Woodstone. It was closer to the golf course. Free cookies and coffee in the waiting area. Jessica, the young lady who checked us in was a little nonchalant about the process and didn't offer much other than the "necessary" info. Anyway, I just want to get my mini vacation started. We got there around 2pm and she made sure to tell us that check in was at 4 unless we receive a call stating otherwise but we still had access to all the facilities. Therefore, we stayed local just in case we got a call. The day we arrived it was a little rainy and cool so a lot of the outdoor activities were cancelled but no big deal because we just rearranged our schedule a bit. We decided to hang out at the indoor pool until 4. Glad we did because because after the 3 hour drive relaxing in the hot tub was just what we needed. We went to pick up our keys at exactly 4pm and Kailey was very helpful. she answered all of our questions, gave us maps and suggestions for things to do and where to go to do them. Stay: We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo perfect for couples who like to vacation together or families. Upon arrival you're given a welcome basket with paper towels, toilet tissue dish washing liquid, brillo pads, plastic cups and trash bags. We were located in unit 70 on Demeret which was an end unit. I loved being on the end unit simply because my only complaint is the amount of steps to walk up to get to the door. Considering we were at an end unit we could easily walk up the grassy area instead of the stairs which made things a little easier (not really). The house was literally a home away from home and it could comfortably sleep 8 people (for the same rate). $20 more per person over 8 people. But that wasn't an issue because it was just 4 of us. 1 room had a King bed the other had a queen, the pullout sofa in the living room slept 2 people with an additional 2 daybeds in the loft. the downstairs bathroom was a full bathroom also equipped with a jacuzzi and a sauna. The kitchen was loaded with everything you would use at home. Dish washer, an electric stove with a stove top grill, blender, coffee maker, toaster, dishes, silverware, pots, pans, glass baking dishes, cookie sheets, meatloaf pan and even a whisk to beat those scrambled eggs in the morning. My only complaint is that I wish they had non-stick pans but I guess that brillo pad isn't in that welcome basket for vanity purposes only. Flat screen wall mounted TV in the living room with cable but only HBO movie channels so I had to watch Power on my phone lol. Dining room table which sat 8 people. The beds and pillows were quite comfortable and the sheets and especially towels and washcloths were of good quality. I usually take my own towels and washcloth anyway. This place will get you in tune with nature real quick. Being a true city girl I thought that would be a problem for me but I actually enjoyed the company of deer literally on my back porch and I actually started to miss them when they weren't there. But the groundhog peaking his head out at me every so often, not so much. Just like everybody else said, it is plenty to do here for everyone but it can get kind of pricey. Prices usually starting around $30 for everything. If you decide not to cook there is a restaurant/lounge on site, a bunch of local eateries in the area and Harrisonburg about 10 miles (20 min) to the right down the road on I81. And if you do decide to cook, if you forget anything there is also a market on site but they are definitely pricey ($4.99 for a dozen of eggs) but there is also a Food Lion about 10 minutes (to the left) down I81. Also note that this resort is massive, 10 miles long and nothing is in walking distance. It gets very dark here too and being the city people that we are, we decided it was best not to go out after the sun went down because we had no desire to fight with wildlife in their territory. But obviously that is an individual decision. Check out: Check out is a little early for my liking; 10 am. Normally that wouldn't be a problem but here at Mountainside they expect you to do their work for them upon checking out and they're very specific about that. YOU MUST wash all dishes or put them in the dishwasher and start it, strip all the bed linens down to the sheets and place them by the front door and remove all trash and put in the dumpster outside. And set the thermostat to a certain temperature. Therefore, all of this must be done well before 10 because the door keys has to be in the rental office by 10 am. If not, you will be charged $50 per hour thereafter. All in all i will definitely return to Massanutten. Mountainside specifically. I would also try Woodstone as well because I heard nothing but good things about them. But Eagle trace or the Hotels, probably not. Already planning my holiday vacation.

Very well stocked and enormous kitchens, high ceilings, large windows and situated beautifully on Massanutten Mountain. Wish they had propane instead of electric fireplaces, but other than that, this place is great. Most of the units appear to have the major stuff updated (Kitchens, Baths & more) but it is a more rustic with older decor, but okay to put your feet on the coffee table sort of place perfect for families. They have access to all of the other resort stuff on the mountain as well.

Pet Lover's BEWARE!…read more DO NOT leave your pets at this facility. I left my pet there for 6 1/2 days (July 3, 2010 - July 10, 2010); he was pratically starved to death. They did not follow the specific directions given for feeding my deaf puppy (2 cups of dry food mixed with 1/2 can of wet food twice a day) and then treid to say I didn't supply enough food. I left enough food for 8 days; they NEVER fed him his dry food, only the wet food, 1 can a day (which was about 3/4 cup of food). He also was covered in dried urine the day I picked him up to take him home and they lost his bedding cover. I asked them if he was eating and they said he was and then I asked if they were mixing his dry food with the wet and she hesitated before she said yes. This hesitation was a dead give away they were not giving him his dry food. Also, the container I left with the dry food was still full with the same amount of food I left on the day I dropped him off. The owner showed no concern, nor did she care, after I contacted her regarding the letter I sent stating my concerns. All she said was I was trying to get out of paying. This is FAR from the truth. I am seeking legal action and have reported them to the VA BBB, VA Animal Control Association, and Massanutten Resorts (since they refer people there). I will never leave my pet here again! Worst experience of my life!

We use one of our timeshare weeks and exchange for here. Because of the Regal Vistas popularity, can only get this area once every 4 years. We have stayed in all the condo options, this by far is our favorite. Spacious, new, homey. Love the electric fireplaces in 2 rooms. TVs in living room area plus both bedrooms also had DVD players for each, so bring those movies! Master bath is huge with jacuzzi tub plus a spacious shower with a bench. Outdoor patio with barbecue if you want to do some home cooking. Full kitchen and fridge like you are home. One of the resorts in Massanutten…read more So if you're not an RCI member, which we're not but our membership with Worldmark allows us to use their locations, we were restricted to staying in one of these non-members resorts. Check-in was painless but the office was difficult to find. The registration office is at The North Lobby in the Woodstone Building. The signs weren't obvious. After registration we preceded to drive to our unit. We had to pass through a 24/7 guard shack and another 2-3 miles or so till we finally get to our section of units. The units were like condos which has a living room, dining area, a partial kitchen (no oven, but there is a small fridge and microwave). Bedroom had two queen beds and a jet tub area. We were upstairs in an up and down unit. The following morning I looked out the balcony and there was a family of deers just roaming around... so refreshing to see. So cute. This place is okay. We were not able to take advantage of all the indoor/outdoor activities the resort offered since we were out most of the day and sometimes not be able to come back until a day or two.
