I am an aerialist (silks/tissue, if you must know) and I had been looking for a regular massage therapist to go to who won't break the bank. As someone who trains a great deal using her lats and shoulder muscles, I would get these terrible muscle spasms where I couldn't even turn my neck without experiencing sharp pains all along my neck and shoulders. These episodes would put me out for weeks at a time. I've found that deep tissue massages works wonders for me. I specifically searched for massage places with reviews on Yelp detailing customer experiences having to do with treatment for pain, and this place came up. Out of the few I had narrowed my search down to, based on customer ratings/reviews, distance, and price, I picked this one to try first because it was the cheapest. For someone like me, who works out five to six times a week and who also sits in front of a desk all day for work, getting regular massages - at least once every couple of weeks - is an absolute MUST to stop getting those debilitating muscle spasms. That being the case, price is definitely a huge factor for me. As it turns out, I didn't need to look any further because Chuy is quite skilled at picking out my problem areas to work on with very little direction. I just tell him where the general area of my pain is and he does the rest. He can actually feel where my muscles are the most tense/knotted up/tight and really dig his elbows/palms/fingers into it. Suffice it to say, I am not looking for a gentle experience. In order to break up all that calsified muscle, regular deep tissue massages are the way to go. It'll eventually hurt less and less the more you go - that's how you know it's working (seriously, I'm not just saying that because I'm a masochist)! On top of all the great massages, the customer service is always on point. It's always very easy to schedule/reschedule appointments. They're super flexible and are open late. Chuy is so thorough that he almost always goes over the one hour I pay him for. I think because I'm small (5 ft. & 106 lbs.), and maybe also because it could be dangerous if he pressed on me too hard, Chuy only charges me $45 for the deep tissue massage. All in all, you should give this place a shot. The only advice I would give you is to make sure you advocate for your needs. For instance, if your knees are uncomfortable on the table, you should ask for a small pillow to be placed under your feet to take the pressure off of your knees. If they're pressing too hard, then make sure you ask them to go a little lighter on you. If at any point you're feeling uncomfortable with anything, make sure you speak up so that Chuy could correct his approach. I say this because the first time I went in for a massage, Chuy accidentally hurt my hand/wrist by pressing too hard (and as an aerialist, your hands are a HUGE deal - you cannot damage your hands because you NEED them!). My hand stopped hurting after a few hours but, moving forward, I just made sure to ask him not to crack my fingers/massage my hands anymore. read more

After my massage, I received new life. TIP: the massage parlor is behind the QT, facing Archibald. I have had many massages due to an accident 5 years ago. Some massages leave me feeling light as a feather, a rock, beat up, or in true bliss. After today's massage, I feel so refreshed and relaxed. Give or take I did feel sore the next day, but today, I feel less tense than I did before. When you see over 90 patients with your doctor a day within a 8 hour period, trust me, you'll need a massage. Chuy was my massage therapist. He placed the RIGHT amount of pressure that I needed. I felt like a left out dough that needed to be rolled out or I will spoil (lol). But after my massage, I was ready to kick butt. Thank you Chuy and the very sweet lady up front. I can say don't judge a book by its cover. This place for sure beats Smiling Feet in Fontana by miles!!!!!! My pain went from a 10 to a 8. I am on my way to urgent as I still cannot walk upright. The pain is too intense. During my massage I did feel moments of relief and others the pain was just unbearable. Not a glam high end place but they are really nice and accommodating! My sister was having a great deal of neck pain and wanted to go in for a massage. We read great reviews here on Yelp and were not disappointed! The environment is calm and relaxing as well as clean. I requested the Swedish massage Soothing music is playing as you are massaged. Each room has curtains instead of doors. The oil that was used left my skin feeling silky smooth. I paid $45 for a one hour massage which is a great price when compared to other surrounding locations. I will be recommending this location to my family as well as return myself again! read more

Chuy gave me a wonderful combo massage - Thai and deep. I was able to get a late appointment, after work. They were very nice on the phone and when i arrived. Offered me water. It was perfect combo of stretching and massage. Nice scalp massage too, which i love. It was a full hour too, unlike some places that do 50 mins. They provide boxer shorts for your comfort if you desire if you are doing any Thai stretching. At check out - was simple and fast and again, they gave me bottle of water. Amazing little hole in the wall place that gave me the best massage I have had in ages (and I have been to several high end salons and spas) Chuy, the massage therapist, was extremely knowledgable, professional, and helpful. I had some large knots in my shoulders that nothing could help. I tried Tiger Balm, hot baths, heating pads, pain meds and had no luck alieviating the pain and discomfort. Chuy gave me a very focused and thorough massage, and although I was a little sore the next day, the pain left and once again I could move with ease! Chuy was very friendly and gave me a bottle of water afterwards to help flush out the toxins that had been released. I felt obliged to inform other massage enthusiasts like ourselves that Nicole and Angel are our go to people when we feel sore, inflexible, or fatigued. First of all, the place. Privacy- I like that I am not being massaged just a couple arms away from another person, or surrounded by dusty curtains. Cleanliness- the sheets are not stiff and worn out, it doesn't smell like another human being nor overwhelmed with scent booster. The Bed- it has a warmer during cold weather (which could be any day of the year seems like). Second but not the least, their massage. THERAPEUTIC! No placebo here. Not just instant gratification but lasting result. I have chronic back problems since I was young. I admit I'm fussy about my therapists. There are few times I had to stop the massage because I know if it is not going to be beneficial/therapeutic for me. You would feel it if the your therapist knows and loves what their doing. They kind of pass on their vibe to you, either positive or negative. Nicole and Angel always leaves me, my husband and our latest recruit my in-laws (80s & 90s) "mind and body" content. Father in-law has neuropathy, been in an uncomfortable pain for a month, doctor says just drink Tylenol and put Salonpas. He was very low in spirit that morning. We decided for him to try for the first time a 90 minute Thai Massage. I explained to Nicole his situation. After the session, my dad is visibly happier not depressed but when he got home, he told me to put the treadmill down for him as he would do his usual exercise! We were beyond elated! Was a delightful experience from beginning to end! A sweet, private, unassuming space. The massage therapist was completely dedicated to helping me relax, there were no distractions. I am not typically one to write reviews but felt compelled to for the first time because of how amazing this place is. I typically run 50-60 miles a week so my legs are in a perpetual state of being sore. We kind of arbitrarily picked this place because it was last minute and I am so glad that we did. This is a long over due review. I've known Angel for a couple of years. I had tried different masseuses for years. Most of them don't have consistent results. However, Angel has been consistently giving good massages. He is always professional. Once you tell him where the problem area is, he will work on it. Not like other masseuses, Angel goes through his routine and also focus on the problematic area. Whenever people ask me for a good massage referral, I tell them to go to Angel. They all like Angel. Freakin' amazing. I had made the conscious decision not to write a five-star review because I wanted Chuy all to myself. Until now. In our first session, I informed him I was rear-ended last summer and my body was still suffering from it. He made sure to give extra attention to the problematic areas - my neck, shoulders, and upper back. His hands are strong yet gentle, kneading and working out the knots. Of course it can feel slightly uncomfortable at times (let him know if the pressure is too much), but the end result is always the same -- I come out feeling rejuvenated. I recently developed pounding headaches, possibly from a medical treatment I had received. He targeted the trigger points in the back of my neck and holy mother... it felt like a huge wave flushed into my head and I thought my brain was going to explode! It may sound painful but it oddly felt so, so satisfying. I have been to high-end spas (i.e., Burke Williams) and cheap $15 an hour massage places all over the greater L.A. area. I had my first visit with New Life Massage and it was amazing! I had been having some neck and shoulder pain that required several sessions with my chiropractor/acupunturist. I'm now at the point where I was searching for a place that could provide maintenance deep tissue massages and I'm glad that I found this location. Chuy is a true healer. I'm very picky about massage therapists. I actually lived with someone while she was in massage school. I learned a ton about it. I almost don't even want to share this little L.A. best of secret. I'm super sensitive to energy, and I have a lot of back tension, and knots from a previous car accident injury. He has very strong hands, but works very intuitively. He is as good as those who charge twice as much. He puts a lot of love and care into his work. You can tell he loves his job. This guy is awesome. I went because of a kink in my shoulder - Chuy worked it hard until the pressure and tension released. He's a really cool guy, very accommodating. Take note that his place is above a car garage and sometimes I could hear the air guns and power tools from below - I didn't care, actually found it slightly humorous, but maybe not the best for some who want complete auditory peace. No joke Chuy might be the best masseuse I've ever been to. Basically everything in my body hurts and I was desperate to get a massage at 8pm. At first he wasn't available but I asked if I showed up would there be a possibility to be seen. He said OK. Luckily his appointment cancelled so I was seen! All he asked was what hurt the most and he took care of my entire body. The ambience was great, the parking situation is great, and you can't beat the price! Don't let the exterior of the place bother you. It's small and clean and he is very professional. If you need more or less of the pressure he is very accommodating.
