I had a 90-minute full body massage at the MassageLuXe Birmingham location in May 2025. At the start, I clearly asked the therapist to use medium-soft pressure and avoid too much pressure. About 30/40 minutes in, she started applying very strong pressure on my left shoulder, which was painful. I told her again to reduce the pressure, and this happened three times during the session.   The next day, I had inflammation and pain in my left shoulder and back. I went back to the location in person to show them. The receptionist saw the inflammation, but the manager (Rupi) refused to speak with me for several days. I had to go to the doctor, take medication for a week, and deal with constant pain.   I called the location many times and finally spoke to someone (he didn't give his name), who said he talked to Rupi. He offered me to buy another massage deal online and come back. No one even asked how I was doing. When Rupi finally called, she told me:   "Do whatever your doctor says. There's nothing I can do."   After that, someone else called and offered me 50% off any service, even VIP, if I agreed not to write a bad review. I agreed, trying to be fair, and didn't post anything at the time.   But when I called last week to book an appointment and use the discount, I was told there was no note or discount on my account. Again, I asked to speak with Rupi, but she hasn't returned any of my calls. I also spoke with another manager named Lee, but nothing has been done.   I'm very disappointed. I have all the medical records, photos, and Birmingham location's camera footage to prove I came in to report this less than 24 hours after my massage. I also tipped the therapist 20% because I wanted to be fair, but I expected better care from the management.   I don't usually write reviews, but I felt I needed to share this so others don't have the same experience. My experience with them has been very frustrating. My complaint is about the contract and very unprofessional behavior of the staff including of manager Shawn. I was offered $10 for a second visit if I signed a contract. I was told that there was no obligation to continue and I can cancel any time. When I called to cancel few days before monthly dues, I was told by the receptionist that I have to talk to the manager Shawn. I called 4 times in the next few days eventually getting hold of him. He told me that I have to pay $85 otherwise they will send for collection. So I reluctantly agreed to pay and then asked him to cancel my membership. He said I can't do it on the phone, you have to come to the spa to do it. This is illegal and a ploy to delay the cancellation. I told him that I am out of town but that didn't matter to him. So I setup an appointment for a massage (which now was due) making sure I get to the salon 2 days before the next monthly dues. My appointment was cancelled only couple of hours before the appointment, and I was given a new appointment 3 days later, by which time they charged my card for another $85. On my complaint I was told that they can't do anything. This is so frustrating and I don't want to ever go back to this place. read more

I did a facial and a massage. The place is nice and clean. The lady who did my facial was friendly and nice. But I personally don't really like freezing cold mask and wipes on my face but was told it suppose to tighten my pores. (Maybe nice for hot summer but not chilling days)after the facial I felt my face was cleaner and smooth. The lady who did my massage was pretty professional. She has good strength at beginning but kind of fade out at the end. Wish it can be more consistent. Both of them ran late for my appointment since it is just opened has schedule arrangement issues. I waited about 10-15 minutes not too bad. For the music volume and the lights, I had to ask them to turn down because I don't like loud noise and bright lights in my eyes. You just need to communicate your needs to make yourself comfortable. Like the hot towel turned to cold, just let them know it they will remove it for you. (I believe it is more professional if they can ask your feelings before you feel bad. Communication part need)Overall, I would like to give a 4 stars and since I signed up for their membership, I hope those issues I mentioned can be solved soon. read more

I have had monthly massage packages before, but I was never really thrilled with the services I've gotten. So for massage luxe I went in thinking it would be for just one massage to take advantage of a deal. But It was a such a good experience I decided to sign up for the membership. Totally worth it! I got a couples massage and a few more massages that were great. I'd recommend Ann. Today I sadly had to cancel because I'll be moving but even that experience was hassle free! No pressure to stay. I've had this procedure before at my dermatologist and absolutely loved the results, but Laura at MassageLuxe - Birmingham exceeded all expectations and is now my go-to for future appointments. The entire staff in Birmingham is so personable, and the building itself is gorgeous and modern; making the experience relaxing and peaceful! I am a member here and loving my monthly massages with Crystal. Today I booked a 90 minute, because I really needed the down time to relax and unwind. Unfortunately the client in the next room chatted constantly and loudly. When Crystal's repeated attempts to have her quiet down were ignored she promptly moved me to another room . She also made sure I had a full 90 minutes after that and upon my sign out management offered me a free add on at my next session. I decided to try this new Massage Luxe location. (I've had massages at many other places but never at a Massage Luxe.) They staff at the front desk was courteous and professional. My massage surpassed my expectations! I signed up for the monthly membership afterwards. I e been back for my second massage now and it was wonderful! I tried the hydroluxe before I left, too. Been coming to MassageLuXe for 3 months now and could not be happier with my experience. Clean facility with complimentary water and an amazing Hydro Massage that you can use before or after the massage. If you have a membership you are allowed to come and use the machine as you like, very helpful after a long stressful day. Every therapist I've had have been attentive to my needs, and will apply as much or little pressure as you ask. I have had some past injuries that they tend to as well. Had a great experience with Sonia. She listened to what I wanted and worked with my specific aches and pains. After I was done she suggested I go on the HydroMassage bed and give it a try. Oh my goodness!!! Can I just say I want to use this 'bed' everyday? They had a great package that included unlimited use of the HydroMassage bed over the next 2 months. I was sold! I regularly have massages and recently tried the newly opened MassageLuXe in Birmingham. After having one of the most relaxing prenatal massages of my life with Alexis, I signed up for their monthly special, $65 for a massage every month including 15 minutes on the Hydromassage water bed. The beds are super comfortable and slightly heated, the pillows are ridicuously soft (I even tried to look at the label to buy one) and everything is new and clean. I can't wait to go back! I went to Massage Luxe for the first time and i was very impressed. Very inviting atmosphere and very professional staff. The man at the front desk was very helpful. I didnt catch his name. Wesley was my masseuse and he gave me a deep tissue massage. It was helpful. It really loosened up my muscles. They have a great special going on now too. They have a dry water massage bed. I have never heard of it. It was a great ending to a great massage. I definitely recommend the company and this new location. read more

Went to MassageLuxe for the 1st time on Valentine's day 2-14-2019, for a couples massage! From the minute you hit the door the front desk staff is very friendly and makes u feel welcomed ! They explained the processes before my appointment and everything went smoothly. The facility was squeaky clean and comfy. As far as my massage, a few things could have been better like communication and more of a tailored approach to my needs specifically. Other than that it was AWESOME! Will go again ! read more

Customer service from Lee at the front desk was phenomenal! Danya (my new masssage therapist ) was amazing! I have scoliosis and sciatic nerve trauma.... She was able to get into every nook and cranny I've tried to ignore for quite some time! My last couple massages (at another establishment) i was still in pain just trying to get off the table! Got pink eye from the sheets here a year ago. Constant turn over in massage therapists that I could never stick with the same one. Amateurs who pull on you instead of doing a real massage. Then they ignore basic areas you asked to be focused on while touching areas you said you didn't need - essentially the therapist just does whatever they want and never tailors the massage to your needs. Now the business is making me jump through hoops to cancel my membership. read more

I was able to get in pretty last minute on a Sunday, which was awesome. Every person I spoke with was pleasant, both on the phone prior to my visit and once I had arrived. Everything was clean, the massage was great. I was in a room along the side of Tropical smoothie and it was quiet. I was given membership options at the end if I was interested (which I was). Yesterday I received a deep tissue massage that was great at the Massage Luxe in Birmingham, MI. I waited a day to send in my review because I had been having trouble with pain at night in my legs. I have been stressed out and needed to relax. YES, it did help tremendously. I highly recommend Ian and everyone at this facility were charming. Thank you for the excellent massage.
