The best kept secret in Bastrop. For $70, you can have a full body Chinese massage including hot stones and towels. Also, you get a FULL hour. I say this as I think about another local business that is much more expensive, deducting 10 minutes to undress, 10 minutes to dress, and 5 minutes of conversation, reducing a 1 hour appointment to about 30 minutes (after which this competitor presents a tablet with the option for tipping that begins at 20%). That will not be your experience at the Massage Place. You might be tempted to go for just 30 minutes, or 15 minutes, but I have to say the few dollars more will give you an incredible relaxing experience. Although they accept walk-ins, they can get quite busy, so I suggest sending a text with name, day, time required. Easy enough, as they are open 9 am to 9 pm every single day. I have some rather serious physical complications....scoliosis, spondylosis, and other 'osis' of every type, not to mention herniated discs. I have found that a once a week visit here does much more than any physical therapy could ever possibly offer. This place is amazing! I've had many massages in my life, and the ones I've had here are the absolute best. Last night I did the 120 minute massage. Worth EVERY penny! The use hot stones and hot towels every time, no extra charges for anything. The massage therapists are knowledgeable and seemingly clairvoyant--she went right to the problem areas and focused on them without a word from me, like she could read my back and it told her my right hip has been out and my left forearm sore from tendinitis. I haven't been for a massage since pre-COVID times, and this is the first time my hip/lower back haven't been in pain for 6 months. I previously had a great experience here with Lucky. She had the perfect firm but gentle pressure and was thorough, and I left my massage feeling pain-free. When I called to schedule today, I found out that Lucky had left, but I was in need of massage so I went ahead and booked. The massager today seemed to not even speak English because I asked her not to touch my right foot as I had dropped 40 pounds on it a few weeks back and it was still too sore to be touched. All she did was laugh the way you laugh when you don't understand what someone has said to you, and not 5 minutes later she picked up my right foot, which was extremely painful. I also told her that my low back and hip flexors were my trouble areas and she didn't give them any extra attention. She tried to do piriformis stretches and she hadn't released the muscles enough to do that. It was very painful. Without Lucky, I was greatly disappointed today and won't return.
