Terrible. The owner was rude on top of it when I mentioned how bad the massage. Steer clear of this place.

Our deep tissue massage experience was impeccable: Lisa technique is the true perfection ( polished through 20 years of service !) and Liv(?) is absolutely amazing therapist as well. The temperature of the room, a heated pad underneath, a heavy feel blanket, hot wet towels, the product they use, etc. small details created pleasurable flawless experience. After the treatment, enjoy a comfy relaxation area with some tea & snacks. *I believe it is the same spa people for both Casa and Shutters.

I don't ordinarily write reviews, but I feel obligated to share my poor experience at Sea Wellness…read moreSpa. I have visited countless spas all over the country, so I write this review with plenty of other good experiences to compare it to. The good: Scheduling was a breeze. I thought it seemed a little unorthodox to not provide a phone number (it seems that appointments are only scheduled via an online form), but I was able to secure the services I wanted on the date/time requested. My husband and I scheduled 90-minute deep tissue massages and facials (60-minute gentleman's for him and 90-minute oxygen for me). Just before we began our massages, a staff member let us know that the esthetician who was supposed to perform my husband's facial called in sick. We were disappointed, but they offered us some products to make up for the last minute cancellation. This was unnecessary and unexpected, but we were touched by the gesture. Additionally, my massage therapist was very sweet. It was an effective and relaxing service. The bad: The spa as a whole simply does not meet the standards of the rest of the hotel (the spa is located inside of the Casa Del Mar). In fact, it feels like the spa was a complete afterthought. The space is super tiny. The relaxation lounge is so small that it feels like you're walking into a closet. The locker room situation - absolutely embarrassing. There is only one restroom, one shower, and no designated area for changing, unless you want to change right in front of the door that could swing open at any moment. Because of this poor locker room design, another guest was changing in the restroom, which just so happened to be the only women's restroom on site. I needed to use the restroom, so I asked a staff member if there were any other ladies' rooms nearby. The only option presented to me was to enter the men's locker room and use the men's restroom. Gross. It probably goes without saying that all of the other basic spa amenities you'd expect to find at a hotel of this caliber, (such as a steam room and sauna, hot tea and so on) are also missing from this establishment. I could've overlooked these issues if the rest of my experience on site was top-notch, and as previously mentioned, my massage was very nice. However, my facial can only be described as hellacious. The esthetician was so aggressive during extractions that I actually burst into tears when I couldn't take the pain anymore. Keep in mind that I receive facials regularly, and have done so for many years. I am familiar with the process. I have NEVER experienced extractions so forceful, and an esthetician so unsympathetic. My skin was unbelievably irritated and inflamed afterwards. Two days post-treatment, and I am still experiencing not only redness and inflammation, but also scabs from the extractions. Unacceptable. I'm shocked and disappointed. I don't want a refund. I don't want or expect anything from the spa or Casa Del Mar in an attempt to make up for this terrible experience. I just wish I hadn't scheduled anything with Sea Wellness Spa in the first place, and believe that other guests should know what they're getting themselves into before visiting.

They have great amenities here - I loved the silent whirlpool, the "waterfall mist" stall, the sauna, and the steam room. I loved the eucalyptus spray in the steam room. It was so relaxing to use the aromatherapy towels and cold towels after the sauna, steam room and whirlpool. I also spent a good amount of time reading in the solarium. I had an amazing Swedish/Deep Tissue massage (50 mins) with Caroline! I am very tense so we didn't get much farther than my back, but what was amazing was Caroline would adjust my massage as she came across different lumps and bumps. She did amazing work! Also, I am obsessed with their chamomile vanilla and orange juice drink. It is so freaking good. So relaxing. I would definitely come back to this location!

I'm a Deluxe member at Burke Williams, and while I've visited the Woodland Hills location many…read moretimes over the years, this review is specifically about the Santa Monica location. I live on the Westside, so Santa Monica is my home spa and where I go at the end of every month. I usually spend four or five hours there, have a couple of services, relax in the quiet room, and give myself an afternoon to completely decompress. I genuinely love this spa. The facilities are beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the people who provide my services are consistently wonderful. That said, after coming here month after month, there are two things that drive me absolutely crazy. First: THE PHONES. There are signs throughout the locker room/spa area stating that cell phone use is not allowed, yet every single time I'm there, women are on their phones. This is a LOCKER ROOM. Women are changing, showering, getting dressed, and walking around completely naked. Nobody should have to wonder whether someone nearby has a phone with a camera pointed in their direction. Almost every visit, I end up going to the front desk and asking an employee to come back and remind grown adults to put their phones away. Burke Williams really needs to find a better way to enforce this policy because, at this point, the signs clearly aren't enough. This isn't simply about maintaining a peaceful spa environment it's about the privacy of every woman using that locker room. My second complaint isn't really about Burke Williams at all. It's about some of the guests: PLEASE TIP YOUR SERVICE PROVIDERS APPROPRIATELY. I am continually shocked by what I hear people leaving as tips. A $250 massage and a $15 or $20 tip? A $350 facial and a $20 tip? On my most recent visit, I watched someone check out after receiving more than $700 worth of services from two different providers and leave each of them a $20 tip. These massage therapists and estheticians are skilled professionals providing services at a high-end Southern California spa. They work hard and take wonderful care of their clients. If you can afford to spend hundreds of dollars on luxury spa services, please budget enough to appropriately tip the people providing them. I regularly see the same providers, appreciate them tremendously, and tip them accordingly usually $50-$60 per service. And yes, I am treated exceedingly well. There's a reason for that: I value the people who take care of me, and I make sure they know it. Despite these frustrations, I love Burke Williams Santa Monica. It remains one of my favorite places to relax and recharge, and I'll continue being a Deluxe member and coming every month. I just wish this location would get much more serious about enforcing its own no-phone policy. And to my fellow spa-goers: put your phone away, respect other women's privacy, and for goodness' sake, tip your service provider properly. Luxury services and bargain-basement tipping do not belong together

Before our massage/nail service, we were seated outdoors in the patio area and served complimentary fruit, tea, and champagne. The vibe outside was so cute and relaxing. It felt breezy and nice. The masseuses came out to put heated neck wraps on our shoulders and soak our feet in water with rose petals and rub our feet. We had fun chatting with them. The people working here are so friendly and fun! Our services were great as well, which included facials, swedish and thai massages, and a manicure. Love that there is an attached nail salon. We came in a large group of 8 but they were able to fit us all in the same appointment time. We paired up in rooms for the massages. After our service, they served us delicious coconut water and more snacks/drinks. The owner even surprised me with a little ice cream, and sang a birthday song, and gave us a bunch of spoons for us to share. They brought out a sweet sixteen sign for fun even though I'm definately way older haha. All of us had a lot of fun and laughs. The amenities were cheap, the AC wasn't working, appointments ran late, and the operation felt held together by good intentions. Somehow a massage and facial became an almost four-hour adventure. The massage was fine. The facial was terrible. No one was rude--the place was just spectacularly unpolished. If you're looking for a basic neighborhood massage, you may be perfectly happy. If the website has you picturing a serene, elevated spa experience, lower that vision several floors. I went in for relaxation and left needing a glass of real wine and a legitimate spa day.
